Palmetto Bay Marina

Very nice facility. Helpful staff and well maintained facility.

The good news: The marina is nice and there are several restaurants on site. The bathrooms are on the docks and are clean and well cared for. We took a walk outside of the marina and the surrounding area was beautiful with lots of trees and walking paths. It is a busy marina with many live-aboards, so there appears to be a vibrant social community. There is also a pump-out boat that will service you when requested. However, we were disappointed that there is a discounted rate advertised on dockwa, but it was not honored. We suggested that they take down the advertisement, but it is still there today. Additionally, the "slips" run parallel to the waterway. Consequently, there are a lot of catamarans who love this marina. The fairways are narrow and we were forced to back out down the fairway when leaving the marina because we were too long to turn around.

Dockhands are great at getting you tied up. In wind vs current. Then easily flipped us around next day to prepare for our departure. Publix is 1.5miles to provision. Great restaurants onsite. MV Arcadia

I really like the location of this marina. I've stayed here before and had great service however, this time was a little different. I booked a slip in advance with electric access. Where they put me had no access to electrical and the water access was too far away to accommodate the 100' hose I brought. So I got charged for electrical and didn't get any and couldn't flush my engine after using the boat. Still convenient location but definetly not a 4 or 5 star experience.

The crew and location were great! The only downside is the barnacle and algae growth rate. Come and leave during slack tide if you can.

We were greeted by Dock master Rex who was super friendly and completely capable with the lines. The Marina itself is clean, bathrooms were in great shape, docks were in very good condition. Restaurant was easily walkable and the food was great. We look forward to returning on our trip back up north.

Palmetto Bay Marina was so accommodating! Rented a slip for a 29’ Fountain and found them to be very easy to work with!

Nice marina and very helpful staff. They went above and beyond to help us resolve a mechanical issue. There are a few restaurants within the marina. We ate at the Carolina Crab Company; very friendly staff and tasty food. There is also free laundry available at the dock.

Outside dock meant boat rocking whenever a boat passed. But, I guess, the inter docks are for permenent residents. The bathrooms were great and clean. Restaurants were an easy way away. thanks.

We love this Marina. Everything is new docks,electric and water. Tony the Harbor master is incredible and location is perfect. Everything is within walking or a short bike ride.

For a multi million dollar marina, the bathrooms need just a little work at not much cost. Put a sign in that tells people to clean up after themselves. Wipe off counters, clean hair from drains. Clean toilet with a brush. The marina needs to put in shower curtains often. Provide paper towels. Provide a toilet brush and some cleaner. Have more expectations of your customers to take care of most of it. Do you have a dock master? Manager? Someone should be responsible. This is a fantastic marina. Sad that the one I went in was like it was.

We spent a week with our 24ft pontoon in a slip at Palmetto bay. Staff and the accommodations were very nice. I would highly recommend staying here.

Staff was very accommodating

Superb dock masters gave us great attention. I mentioned, on arrival, an issue with my tender outboard. Within the hour, Tony had it fixed! Great marina.

Great stay in late April for 3 night. Docking was easy as docks are parallel to current. Very convenient to restaurants. We borrowed the marina bikes and went to the coastal museum 5 stars) one day and to the beach and Publix the next. Hilton Head has extensive bike and walking trails. Nice bathrooms, free laundry, fuel and pump out completed the amenities. Enjoy snowcones at Chris's and view his Lego collection. Sean gave expert direction on exiting Broard creek at marker 31. We saw no less than 10 feet on a rising tide.

Courteous dock attendant but do not answer the VHF. The showers and facilities were clean. There are restaurants on the property. Very convenient and the food was good but the exterior is dirty and in need of updating! Prefer Harborside Marina over this one though.

I used the Marina twice in seven days for purposes of attending to an engine oil leak. The docks, showers and laundry were all current and kept clean. Sean and Tristan were engaging and helpful in docking. Palmetto Bay is on my list for marinas to use in the future. Returned as part of my journey north. Docked here for two months this winter- liked the Marina so much we are staying there again next year. The docks are great, great laundry facilities, showers, etc. The Marina is great dog walking, bike riding, and great walking paths including cool hiking paths in the woods. It’s close to good restaurants and good food shopping. What makes the Marina special is the staff. Kai, Tony, Sean and Patrick are true professionals and surround themselves with good talent. The entire crew is professional and fun to be around. We highly recommend this Marina.

Great Marina. Well protected and easy on and off even with a little current. Sturdy docks in great condition, convenient showers and washing machines, and Dockmaster Tony was great. While there are free bikes, they weren't in usable condition when we were there.

We loved this Marina! Tony & Shawn are great people, so laid back & caring! We stayed here for 1 week and everything was amazing! Free laundry, nice clean restrooms and showers. It’s a little bit of a walk to get your dog to a grassy place though. The black marlin restaurant was great & the breakfast place too! Internet was spotty but we didn’t care! Self service fuel dock is open 24-7! We will definitely be back!!! The ferry boats were a little annoying bc they don’t understand no wake! Current wasn’t awful.

They have set the bar for service as high as it could be. Every time we dealt with the dock crew they were over the top friendly and supportive. Tony, Sean, Seth and others we spoke with on the phone, just stellar, we love this place. Laundry, showers, everything on the docks was new and clean and well-tended, this is how it should be. We should report that it's terrible so we can make sure we find space on future visits. ;)

A great marina. I love how the bathrooms are on the docks. The tidal currents can make this a tricky docking effort, so planning your arrival at slack tide is a plus. Having a courtesy vehicle (car, or even bikes) would be a big improvement.

Second time time visiting for a month. Dockmaster is very friendly and helpful. Restaurants on site have great food and service. Love being able to watch football right there.

S/V Biscuits stayed at Palmetto Bay Marina for almost two months. We had the best time staying at the marina. Tony, Sean, Rhett, and the rest of the crew at the marina were fantastic. We loved the people we met at the dock. The free laundry, showers, and restaurants to go to is a big plus. You can scooter or walk to Publix. The docks are new, and are set up to handle lots of catamarans such as ourselves. We will be stopping by again for sure next time we are in the area!

This is our 3rd stay at Palmetto Bay Marina. We tow our 24' boat (Looney Bin) from Virginia for week-long stays and enjoy the convenience of renting a slip instead of repeated launching & trailering. Great location central to HHI's west side for day trips north or south or quick runs over to Daufuskie Is. Friendly & knowledgeable staff - always attentive & helpful. Convenient fueling at good prices. We'll be back again next year!

I just left Safe Harbor Palmetto Bay Marina. I was there for a month. Tony runs an excellent Marina. This place has risen from the devastation of Hurricane Matthew and now is the newest and best marina in the Hilton Head Area. Only thing missing is paper towels in the 3 very clean restrooms. The electricity was totally adequate for my 75 ft Marlow, even at the end of a long dock. I will be going back there! Thanks for your service, Tony

Had a very pleasant experience. Nice docks, ample space, wash down and charging available as well as fuel. Docks were neat and tidy with good cleats and bumpers. Felt very secure. Will come back for sure.

Dock hands are great, internet is terrible but they just added a new bath house and washer dryer set up.

Only problem the restaurant doesn’t open until 10:00 for breakfast on Sunday not sure about other days.

Super facility. Bathrooms and showers are new, and the laundry is free. The dock hands were really helpful and had us set up and checked in in less than five minutes. There are three restaurants on the property. We would definitely stay here again.

The stay was good. The dock was convenient, although it took a while to get in and get out due to the length of the no-wake zone. The employees were very helpful. The only down sides were I never could get the boat repair shop to answer the phone about some work I was considering getting done and also, there was not a shop where you could get ice and bait for your fishing trip. I was nearby, but the nearest live bait was off the island which added an hour to your trip each day, if they had live bait. I wound up catching some with my cast net most of the time.

Great stay! Helpful and friendly staff! Marina has a few bikes to use. Quick bike ride to grocery store and a few restaurants in walking distance.

Attentive staff. Our complaint is that they advertise 30 Amp service but then cannot provide due to shortage of adapters forcing the boater to travel to find one at his expense.

Modern dock and electric. Complimentary laundry facility with 2 modern larger washer and dryers. 4 clean bathrooms with shower stalls. Complimentary dockside staff assisted pump out service. All of the marina staff were friendly, courteous, helpful and knowledgeable. Attentive staff assisted with with adjusting dock lines in inclement weather. There is also 3 restaurants on site. The only negative is there is a busy channel beside the marina.

The new electric grid on the outside dock did not provide a consistent voltage so our air conditioning would cut out at times. We were limited to one A/C at a time. The weather was hot, but there should have been ample voltage to prevent low voltage cut offs.

We’ve stayed twice at Palmwtto and the staff is excellent. It’s an easy in and easy out marina. Free laundry and 4/5 placwa to eat and drink onsite. You’d never have to leave or you didn’t want to! We will stay again for :)

The New Docks and facilities are great. High quality and well done. Certainly, the newest docks in the Hilton Head area and one of the best docks for larger boats.

Excellent marina, clean bathhouse and laundry rooms. Staff was always eager to help out. Lots of things to do there, boat tours, jet ski and dinghy rentals. 3 restaurants on site and plenty of safe bike paths to take you where you need to go.

What a awesome place to visit. Trailered my boat from Indiana. Rented a dock space for the week. They answered all my questions for a first timer in salt water. Will be back again. Very clean and experienced

Docking was easy and Sean was there to assist - much appreciated. The complimentary pump out is a great service - and they came right away. I think that the restrooms should be supplied with a soap dispenser and towels or air dryer. Minimally, a hand sanitizer should be available.

We arrived in Spring of 2022. The marina had just been rebuilt, and the WiFi was just getting started. Over the past 10 months, we have watched the staff grow the marina into a fantastic experience! The docks are amazing, with almost 12' of clearance on the pilings during King Tides. Electric is brand new and clean, water quality is very good. A few months ago they finished and installed the restroom/shower facility barge as well, which really helps. They also added a pump out boat for convenience. The restaurants on site are excellent, with choices for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and an out music bar/restaurant as well. They do get occasional wakes from he Hage Point ferry boat, but nothing substantial enough to cause concern. During high winds down the fairway against the current I saw nothing substantial in terms of wave action like you see in some marinas with a long fetch in one direction. They are adding more fuel pumps on the new transient dock. Fuel prices have been good as well. They have a lift which can handle 50 ton boats and I believe the max beam is 19 feet? They have exceptional gel coat workers there which did some work for us. They have dolphin tours, wave runners and Watersports there as well should you wish. There is a trolley stop nearby to go around the island, but the marina also has free bikes. It's about 15 minutes to the beach by bike. Overall, we love this marina, and have booked our future reservations here already, as this will become a very popular marina in the future.

Clean bathroom facilities. However, needs paper towels and hand soap at the sinks. Staff is extremely helpful. Pump-out boat will come to you nearly as soon as you ask for it.\nRestaurants nearby are good too. Grocery and pharmacies are less than two miles away. If you have a bike, the Hilton Head bike trail system is the eighth wonder of the world! :-)

Nice clean marina with new floating docks. Restaurants nearby, bikes available to get to groceries and hardware store. The staff is on the ball and really nice folks.\nI left the boat there for several weeks to travel home and now plan on stopping at Palmetto Bay again when I return north.

Still a few more repairs needed (transition from shore to the docks has been temporary plywood for many months), but the staff is extremely friendly, and the floating docks, power, and WiFi have all been great.

Great marina, helpful staff. New restrooms and laundry facility. Overall, a fine marina, BUT why are the shower heads so high? I’m 5’3 and had to take it in the face thoroughly my whole shower as I couldn’t even reach the head to redirect the stream. Great water pressure, by the way! This particular part of my stay at Palmetto Bay was material for a Seinfield episode. 😅

It was nice enough. Nice docks. However, the bathrooms are severely lacking - no hand soap, no hand dryers/paper towels and toilet paper not replaced. We boaters rate marinas not only on their docks but especially their facilities. Thank you.

Docket needs to up-date information regarding bathrooms, showers and laundry. All are new and provided on a barge that is an part of the Marina. A unique and wonderful solution.

Initially I was not going to leave a review because sometimes folks just get it wrong. So here is some constructive criticism: just answer your phone and radio. We called four times, hailed on 16 six times, yelled to a guy washing his boat and were informed that they work on 10. Four hails on 10 that were not answered either. We yell to some folks on the dock and they helped us with our lines and were very nice. I found out they had the same communication problem as us, which is unfortunate. When the Harbormaster came over I told him the same as what I just typed above. His response, "well, my radio is always on". Maybe it's a volume problem...

Beautiful new docks. The bathroom and showers are planned for a floating dock - IT IS NOT HERE. Showering on the boat - no problem. Except the pump out was not working. The travel lift/ramp area is under construction and could take years.

It was a great stop for 2 days. We met up with friends who shuttled us around the town. The docks are great and dockhands very helpful and knowledgeable. There are new slips being built on the north/west side which should double the marina. The only downside is that the bathrooms are shared with the restaurants. I was told that when the new slips are finished they will have a bath house barge. Otherwise, this was a great stay for a great price.

The marina was very clean and the staff were helpful. The food at the blue marlin was great and the bartender Josh was excellent! The downside is there is no shower or boater reserved restrooms. The worst part was the electrical. You cannot run two 30 amps on the same pole and the GFIs were only 30 amps and extremely sensitive. That is they continually flipped. If this were fixed I would have given it 5 stars.

Great Marina and location, friendly helpful staff.

Docks looked brand new and the staff was great. It’s a bit of a trek to groceries or laundry since Uber/Lyft and taxis are in short supply right now. The current can get pretty strong so take that into account when you’re approaching the dock.

The management and staff are very helpful here. I brought our boat in for a week and needed to extend my stay and they accommodated me with not issues. Docks and services are new, due to rebuilding from a hurricane a few years ago. Additional docks to be built later 2021 with new amenities .

Very helpful, congenial staff. Nice modern floating docks. Clean restrooms. Bike paths to everywhere on Hilton Head Island. No showers.

They are still rebuilding after being wiped out by Hurricane Matthew in 2018. No showers until 2021. Otherwise, 5 stars. Dockhands did an excellent job helping me tie up and took care of all my needs (diesel and a pump out). Multiple restaurants on the property. Publix supermarket is a little over a mile away, but not too far to walk. Looking forward to when they're back to fully operational status. Would definitely stay here again.

We have been EXTREMELY happy with our stays at this marina! We have had a need to be very sporadic with our stays throughout the month and the staff has been more than accomodating especially as they are very busy. They have always made room for us and have been exceptionally friendly and helpful. The marina itself is very very nice. We LOVE this marina and will continue to stay here in the future as we are in Hilton Head all the time.

Great place and friendly people. Clean, well equipped location Launching ramp is right next door Making it super easy and fast to launch a boat and bring it to the marina. Great restaurants are located there as well. I would highly recommend this location. Deep water access as well.
