Great location with access to Greenport via Ferry (or dinghy if you're so inclined). Nice shops and restaurants right in town if you stay local. Boat trash dumpsters available for visiting boaters. If I could give a 4.9 instead of a 5.0 it would be because they do not monitor VHF and prefer that you call on the phone for your mooring assignment on approach.
Staff and Services are great. A bit shallow but we draw 6' and had no issue on the outer dock.
Expensive for sure but that's Ptown. For the price, lots of nice services. Great Launch Service and easy dinghy dock.
They are very responsive to Dockwa requests and communications. Wish more dockwa partners were half as good! If you are coming ashore in your dinghy, be prepared to play "dinghy hopscotch" at the dock. It's part of the charm of the place.
Mooring was adequate. There is no launch which is fine, but the dinghy dock is quite exposed. Another dinghy came in and left their engine up (grrrrr) and we had a prop rubbing against us in some pretty good chop. All of Bristol Harbor can get quite a nice fetch in a S wind so plan or be prepared accordingly. They confirmed the reservation on Dockwa very quickly!.
It's a lovely little mooring field among rocky outcrops and near the Clingstone house. They don't seem to really be on top of Dockwa (it took two phone calls and over 24 hours to turn a pending into a confirmed). We ended up leaving a day early only because the wind turned northerly and built up quite a bit of fetch in there. In the prevailing SW, it's a beautiful spot.
Moorings are getting expensive everywhere. Anchorages are getting more and more crowded by expensive moorings. The Coast Guard Pier is not a great anchoring option anymore so we chose Flyers over the other guys based on price alone. The Mooring was great. Very heavy line with a nice bridal and eyes actually big enough to fit around our cleats. During our stay, we had a long spell of very high winds (with a Tornado warning). The mooring held fine and the only mooring in the whole harbor that dragged was for one of the house boats. The Launch Drivers are very skilled at landing on your boat in very challenging and choppy conditions.
Great location. Great launch drivers.
Great marina, staff and facilities. Located in a gem of a harbor
We were seasonal in this marina for many years and even lived aboard there. It was so nice to come back to visit for a few days. Great staff, incredible access to the city and amazing city views.
This review is for the dock, not the moorings. If you have a deep draft sailboat, you will be on the face dock. This dock is very exposed to the prevailing southwest wind and chop and when we arrived, it was blowing 20+. We got bounced hard all that day and overnight. The listing on dockwa says to hail them on 16. They didn't answer. We ended up calling the office number to get instructions as we approached. We asked for a dockhand to assist in the high winds - there are none. This dock seems to be mainly useful as a quick touch and go for water or pumpout or to pick/drop passengers. It's not really suitable for a stay unless conditions are VERY settled. There is NO WIFI on the docks - only inside the building. We managed hijack a couple local pubs' connections with some success so we could work our jobs while we were there. On the plus side, this dock is at ground-zero for the foodie hub of Bristol. The location is great. I would come back if conditions were very settled (or not blowing from SW), and if I didn't need good connectivity while there (which is pretty unusual). Also on the plus side, the docks and walkways are in good shape. The Bath, shower and laundry facilities are very clean and nice.
A favorite place. Discovered the hiking trails this time so one more reason to come here.
What a great spot to stay on a slip in Newport. Very protected. Very convenient to town by bike or walking. Competent, friendly staff. Highly recommended.
We always love staying at Manchester Marine. The MMC moorings are very secure and easy to pick up. This time, our arrival didn't go quite as smooth as usual. This is more of a humorous story than a complaint: We hailed on 72 as we approached and got no answer. Tried again, no answer. Different radio, no answer. Tried calling on cell, went to voice mail. So we grabbed a mooring. All this time, the person at the fuel dock can see us. So I commissioned the dingy so I could go over and talk to them face to face. When I went in the office I saw a VHF radio tuned to 72 - with the volume turned all the way down. I said "I've been hailing you on 72". "Nothing came through", they said. "Here's why" (as I turned the volume up). Anyway, then of course I had to dinghy back out and move from one mooring to another. To be fair, it was a bit early in the season for them. In fact, they opened up dockwa just for us on that day so we could get a reservation. We really do love staying there and my experience this time was way out of the ordinary for MMC.
Friendly, helpful staff. Stayed on a guest mooring which appeared to be rigged very nicely. Launch service was quick and it's included in the rate.
