Dutch Island Harbor |
Safe Harbor Jamestown Boatyard is peacefully nestled among the scenic granite bluffs and gorgeous coastal landscapes of Narragansett Bay’s East Passage. Block Island, the Cape, and Newport Harbor are all within easy reach, while a premier marine service facility, first-class amenities, and summer days abundant in lively cookouts, acclaimed music festivals, and thrilling regattas give boaters a truly all-inclusive waterfront experience.
Nice clean bouy with good tackle. Friendly and helpful launch staff.
Very satisfied! Clean restroom and shower!
Nothing good about sitting peacefully on the mooring assigned by Dockwa to have an irate seasonal mooring owner and a launch driver swoop in and start screaming at you. Very bad feeling no matter how quickly you exit the mooring. We were assigned D4 by the app, but that one wasn't available.
Friendly and dependable service.
Good mooring, great views, great service (greeted by the launch on arrival). The field is exposed to a lot of rock and roll from boats going by Newport (quiets down at night).
This place is perfect. To sail Narragansett Bay just across from Newport is gift for any sailor in the world. Pearson 26 was perfectly protected by the Dumplings. The launch service operates weekends 8am- 8:55pm on Channel 72. On my weekday stay I had launch service from 8am- 6:55pm. The views of the Newport Bridge and Fort Adams were spectacular. The boat yard is working class as am I. Felt at home. 2 outdoor showers and 1 employee bathroom available 24 hours. Downtown Jamestown is really a cool place. If you have kids and not local. Get to the playground in the middle of the Island. It is one of the best in the United States. Clearly very knowledgeable boat builders, maintainers, and operates in every direction of the yard. Everyone I met treated me with kindness. Best regards, Dead Ahead
Great outdoor shower. Friendly and attentive launch staff. It’s about a 20 minute walk to town. That’s a good thing for sailors!
Great spot, great people!
Friendly staff. Nice outdoor showers. Quiet and convenient to Newport.
Great place. Friendly. Very salt of the earth. We love the calm quaint nature of Dutch Harbor. Beautiful sunsets that are breathtaking. My favorite place in the Jamestown/Newport area for mooring.
Great marina! Launch service and its own little beach … all near downtown Jamestown and Ft. Wetherhill.
It was a little bumpy but the service was great
This is a lovely marina nestled among the rock islands of southern Conanicut Harbor. It is very protected and among the more beautiful place to moor in the lower bay. The people who work there are very friendly and helpful. We had a great stay (we are repeat visitors) ands do not hesitate recommending this yard. IK am sure we sill be back there again.
Great spot to watch spinnakers and mega yachts entering Newport harbor. Stayed on inner mooring with SW wind and overnight thunder boomers. Well protected inside. Appreciate launch escort around dumplings. Doug and Skip are the nicest launch operators in the business. Facilities are basic. One head and two outdoor showers. Additional indoor head and shower. Looking forward to being back during season.
NW wind makes the moorings exceedingly rolly. Launch service limited as well. Dinghy dock difficult to access. Otherwise Jamestown a great town
Between Dockwa and Safe Harbor Jamestown there was a screw up and the suitable mooring for us wasn't available when we arrived :(
I came away from this stay with mixed feelings. First the good stuff: the launch service staff was attentive and responsive. They did a great job of handling a flurry of requests. In addition, the staff easily accommodated our request to stay an extra night. Now to the negative: the head and showers are a mess. The only showers are out of doors and protected only by curtains. The single head is in poor condition. The mooring field is very rolly due to weekend boat traffic in the Bay. It is also open to winds from the east which we’re prevalent the whole time I was there. We were uncomfortable during the day but things did quiet down some at night.
I'd stay again for sure. Thanks!
Great service and one of the prettiest spots in RI
Great experience at JBY. Lovely mooring field. Very nice facilities. Very friendly staff. Will drop in again.
Beautiful location and super friendly staff
Enjoyed our stay with you again - Friendly launch - A dingy ride to quaint & cozy Jamestown - GREAT spot for watching all of the Harbor Activities!!! Little rolly from the waves but tolerable. We will be back again sometime!
Great spot. Great people. We'll be back.
Outside of being in nature's washing machine from the wakes generated from everything from recreational to commercial vessels, the location was great. There are beautiful views and the SHM staff were very accommodating.
Great service upon arrival. Launch showed us to our mooring hung around to ensure we got situated. A little rocky do to boat traffic and/or open water exposure.
Very pretty harbor, view of Newport bridge, well-equipped moorings with two bow lines and a pickup stick. Launch service was great. Not far from the shipping lane so you do get a fair amount of rolling here. About a 20 minute (hilly) walk into town.
I just stayed 2 nights at Safe Harbor Jamestown Boat Yard. I’ve been to Jamestown before, but this is my first stay at JBY. My experience was excellent. I arrived in boisterous weather courtesy of Hurricane Teddy. Crew member Hallie kindly guided me to a relatively protected inner mooring next to an initially ominous big rock. I came to like it. The quarters were tight for my 34 ft sloop, but it proved to be an excellent mooring. The first night was quite bouncy, but view of NB East Passage and Newport was awesome, especially at night. The accommodations are hardly posh, but most adequate. I had use of their motorized dinghy after hours, which was most convenient. During working hours the staff was most accommodating with launch service. I spent one afternoon biking to Beavertail State Park. The scenery going and there was beautiful. Don’t miss this. I look forward to staying at JBY next cruise East. Cap’n Mitch Gilbert s/v Pleiades, Safe Harbor Pilots Point Marina, Westbrook, CT
Halle was awesome. Great guidance and great skills. Definitely will return.
We spent July & August at JBY. Top notch operation all around. Great facilities, service, and people.
Beutiful scenario , loved it
Friendly, low key and beautiful spot for swimming and sightseeing with the rocks and birds and spell bridge in the distance. Take advantage of the launch rather than using the dinghy, as it can get breezy and Skip is full of great recommendations for sightseeing.
Friendlyness and great service are the best words to describe this yard.
Gorgeous location and the marina launch service is very friendly and helpful as is Ellen who replies to Dockwa inquiries. We’ll be back again and again!
Pretty convenient, we stayed on a Friday and it was hard to sleep because of noisy birds, wakes of boats passing by late, and loud music. The launch service was excellent and free! The views from the marina were stunning. We wished it would have been closer to downtown Jamestown.
We had a nice, relaxing stay. Great service from the staff, including prompt pickup from the launch. Very dog friendly. About a mile walk into town (along relatively quiet roads). The launch stops at seven, so plan accordingly if you’re out for dinner. The mooring field is open to the north and east, and an occasional wake rolls in from the larger ships.
The launch was great and timely. The launch operator was informative and friendly. There was only one 1/2 bathroom (unisex) and it was very dated. I did not see a galley that was described online. There was poor signage. The only showers we saw were 2 outdoor showers. There was a small deck with one table and one grill. It was positioned next to the boat launch which was pretty smelly at low tide. We had a nice inside mooring so the waves were minimal even on a busy 4th of July weekend. The view was picturesque from the mooring.
Nice stay for 2 days
Very nice and full of dumplings.
Good people... safe spot to lay up.
Great place to access or view all of lower Narragansett Bay activities. Boatyard shares their property with local homeowners association, so some areas are just for them. Nice scenic walk to the south facing coves & Fort Wetherill.
Good quality mooring, double pendant. Widely exposed to wakes. Spartan facilities. Beautiful views.
Thanks to JBY for a great experience! The staff and service here are second to none! We will be back to visit again.
Nice marina, great location.
The launch driver was nice. But the waterway was not well protected from waves. We came back to the boat to find the cooler upside down on the other side. AND a fire extinguisher detached and discharged on the flybridge.
Very pleasant mooring, wonderful service with free launch. Gorgeous scenery, low-key. A little bumpy with winds from the north but if they’re not too strong it’s still great. Highly recommend.
Moorings are VERY exposed to the North, so it was lumpy! Launch crew was very helpful and friendly.
Stayed here one night mid-week. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I left a bag in town at a restaurant. When I asked management if I could pay someone to give me a ride, I was told “you don’t have to pay anyone for that.” First, the manager looked for a company vehicle to loan me! When she found that was being used, she asked someone to drive me in her personal car! Where does that happen these days?!? I would definitely return.
Wonderful crew offering abundant hospitality.
The harbor master went out of his way to be as accommodating as possible. None of our group of 10 boats had stayed there before. We all agreed that we were looking forward to a return visit.
Service exceeded our expectations. Very friendly and knowledgeable.
