Great stay. Luke that the Moorings are far away from ferry traffic. Launch driver was very nice and helpful. We prefer yacht clubs because money helps youngsters learn to sail.
The price is great and now we know why. On arriving,, Called the harbor master 3 times on Ch9 and never got a response. Came here to go to Defender Marine Labor day Monday, hardly any restaurants open. The bar on the wharf played crappy karaoke until 11pm and the incessant trains honking all evening...ugh! In a pinch ok...but sleepless noisy stay.
43' Shannon Ketch sv Marite. Took a ball for 3 nights because of Ida coming through. Very accommodating. Super clean bathrooms. Launch drivers really friendly and helpful, but you pay $3pp each way which was a surprise after free launches included in the price of the mooring on the other side of Cape Cod Canal. So we moved to a closer ball as we have a rowing dinghy. No problem. The Whaling Museum and Bethel are amazing at reflecting the history of this important sea port. Overall, really pleased with our stay.
1987 Shannon 43 Ketch. We pulled in on a mooring to wait out Henri. Back Channel is an excellent spot for a blow. Luckily it was a non-event for us. While there we read all the great reviews on KPYY. So we commissioned them to fix our engine problem of injectors, valve adjustment and transmission issue. Jason, the Dockmaster, was extremely gracious and professional setting up the work. Very upfront. A bit above average hourly rate, but as we boaters know, sometimes better to pay more for good service. Bottom line - great service and the price was fine therefore. Will, our assigned diesel mech, was awesome. He replaced our injectors on our 4000hr old Yanmar, set the valves and unfortunately couldn't do anything for the tranny issue because there aren't any parts it's so old (34yr). Will was courteous, on time, efficient and very knowledgeable. He was very methodical and left a clean work space. Loved having him aboard. The yards prices are a bit high, but for once you don't feel scammed out of high prices and crap service. So I'll say it was very fair. The work was spot on. The management was professional and really very friendly. I only have one very minor negative remark and that is there is only one head shower. They're working on that and will be addressed. Highly recommend this yard!
Good Moorings! Fantastic boaters lounge, showers and heads. Super clean. Launch driver was super friendly and helpful. The only negative thing I have is the fact the timing of Moorings. Having to be off mooring by 10am, having arrives late last evening, means I can't enjoy the town without making a 2-day reservation. Good luck. Please do checkin/ checkouts at 4pm so we can enjoy the town!
Loved the town! Pretty long walk to food store, but awesome spot!
