So as to be clear, as the title is confusing, this is a review of the bridge on US 1 that goes over the Sebastian River, not the bridge that goes over the Sebastian Inlet, which is the A1A bridge. The US 1 bridge now over the Sebastian River is a replacemebt of the original Dixie Highway bridge, before it became US 1. The original bridge’s construction was the same the old arch style that was used for the original Overseas Railway bridges in the keys, now used for pedestrian traffic after their replacement. The new bridge’s modern construction gives much more height and width clearance for boats and is sufficient for boats that can navigate the depth of the Sebastian River. I have seen inboard engine boats of 30+ feet with half towers negotiate the new bridge without problems. The bridge appears to be in great condition.
