Onancock's tranquil location, deep and scenic approach, and fine harbor make this a delightful destination for cruisers seeking a unique adventure. The harbor yields to a neighborhood of beautiful Victorian homes and a business district filled with an increasingly sophisticated mix of shops and gourmet restaurants. The entire experience is walkable and more can be seen at www.ExperienceOnancock.com.
Alway good! Always a great place to hang out!
Nice marina in a nice small town. $2.50 / ft. Floating docks in good condition. Power and water. Diesel and gasoline. Clean individual bathrooms with shower. Free Laundry. Free courtesy car. Pump out. Nice restaurant next to the marian and others downtown a short walk. Dockmaster Charles and his staff were helpful and friendly.
Always friendly staff and and they have the cleanest restroom/shower facilities of any marina we visit. Great having a courtesy car now and golf cart rentals too.
Charles is great… always there to make your stay memorable. Clean as any marina we’ve been to, great facilities including free laundry and a courtesy car to make a Walmart run. Town a short walk with restaurants and shops and you can’t miss the fresh morning donuts from the Corner Bakery. Unqualified recommendation from cruisers who’ve logged 5000 miles. Would definitely go back.
Very nice marina Responsive staff Floating docks Easy walk to town (5 min at best)
The Wharf is a wonderful place to stop. Charles Perry is the dock-master and he does a good job. We always go to the bakery and sometimes frequent the Pub and Mallard’s.
Our yacht club has been staying at Onancock Wharf the weekend before Labor Day for years. Always friendly and helpful staff. Mallards next door was great as always and took care of our large group. Be back again next year!
Very nice marina in a really nice town. Very convenient and walkable to the town. Very nice facilities.
My first cruise to Onancock Wharf could not have been more pleasurable. Super clean marina, super clean bathhouse, and enormously helpful and friendly staff. Craig goes to great lengths to assure boaters have a great experience. I liked how access to three of the four bathrooms required an access code which is given exclusively to boaters. Onancock is a beautiful little town as well. And a shoutout to Johnny Mo and Mallards at the Wharf restaurant just a few steps away. Great food, fun atmosphere. All in all, an outrageously great weekend.
A great destination to visit and not only was the staff friendly, helpful and out going, we found the local residents to be the friendliest and welcoming we encountered on our 1 month in the Chesapeake. Onancock is a great town with lots of history. The marina offers a courtesy car for 1-2 hours allowing us to shop and pick up supplies without needing to find an Uber. A huge plus when traveling. The only problem was one day another boater not well versed in boat etiquette, Apparently felt it was his personal vehicle and took it out for several hours beyond the requested limit, forcing us to find an Uber to handle things that day. No reflection on the Marina just a boater with poor etiquette skills. The majority of the slips at this Marina are floating and have a 16 foot maximum width And about 35 feet in length. If you are a larger vessel, there are two slips available and we found a small surcharge after we reserved on Dockwa because we were in the larger slip. It was a minimal charge, but it would’ve been nice to know this when making the reservation versus finding out after we checked in. Overall, this is a great destination and a great marina and we will definitely return when in this area again.
Beautiful and quant little marina. Nicest showers staff and a gorgeous ride In. Mallards restaurant was the bomb. Delicious crab stuffed Avacado…crab bread…drinks…everything!! And owners are awesome people. Beautiful views.
One of our favorites. Lovely journey up Onancock Creek to the marina which is small and quiet. Great staff, clean restrooms, free laundry and an easy walk into town. Several great restaurants to choose from. Definitely worth a visit.
The facility was very nice, we will return.
Wonderful marina with clean showers/bathrooms
Excellent marina. Great location, friendly staff and new floating docks. Just be aware of the GIANT pilings. They’re a bit tough to tie a line to without some assistance. I will absolutely be back!!
Nice facility and staff. Loaner car for that obligatory run to Walmart for supplies. A short walk to town for coffee and pastries.
Nice marina, very helpful staff, beautiful town. Definitely a great stop over!
The facilities were very clean and neat. Onancock is well worth the trip.
Excellent stay. Floating docks are in great condition. Bathrooms are clean and nice. Staff was extremely helpful. It was a nice ride up the river with a well marked channel. A short walk to a very nice town. Dinner at Mallards was outstanding.
Nice, helpful, friendly, and quiet. The facility is kept in very good shape. We had excellent help with fuel, a pump out, and docking. The dockmaster and his crew do a great job.
Clean Marina, floating docks, helpful and friendly staff. Courtesy car and golf carts. Short walk or golf cart ride to all the restaurants—and there are a surprising number of them. We enjoyed, Maurice, Charlotte Hotel (breakfast), and Mallards. Several other restaurants and pubs we did not get to try. Btw, great cove and beach just north of red #10 inside the mouth of the creek.
Very nice, quiet location, good dockhands. The town has more to offer than it appears initially. Good restaurants. It takes a good 40 minutes to get through the twisty but well-marked channel from the Bay to Onancock. But, even that is a nice part of the experience.
We really liked this marina. It’s a small marina but our 37’ craft fit fine. The little town is lovely and walkable. The marina itself was super clean - inside and out. Restrooms were very nice as was the free laundry. They also have a free loaner car and kayaks and golf carts for rent. Will definitely return here on future travels.
Friendly, helpful staff. The restroom facilities are clean and recently updated. The pump out equipment was also recently updated and provided a rapid pump out. We appreciated the coffee and laundry facilities and the floating docks with 30 and 50-amp electrical hookups. We will definitely be back!
Peaceful, well kept marina. Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. Always great to have dockhands available to help out. Mallards is on site plus an easy walk to town! Beautiful creek.
Very nice facilities and staff. However for the 2nd year in a row our reserved slip assignment we were was changed at the last minute. This is a bit frustrating as we pre-plan our approach and docking procedure based on our slip assignment and when it changes last minute (to a less desirable slip), we need to adjust quickly. Not a huge deal, and as boaters we need to be flexible on the fly, but it would be nice if our assigned slip was honored.
Beautiful town to just walk or bike around. We were there over Mem Day Weekend and most of the downtown closed On Sun and Mon. Ballards right there at the marina is great, has live music.
Charles was very helpful getting us into our slip. Always a pleasant experience to visit Onancock Marina.
Nice, quiet marina with great access to quaint, historic town. Some businesses not open during our stay in May. Marina restrooms, showers and laundry clean and well kept.
The May 12-13 stay was extremely disappointing. We checked in with the marina at the marker required. We were informed that the berth we desired was unavailable due to an overstay. We understand these situations. We stated we required docking assistance. There were two of us but my wife has a handicap. The only person sent down to us (about 1430 hours,) was not experienced and was manning the desk AND assisting docking. There was a cross wind and the employee did no tend the line properly resulting in our inflatable tender being crushed into the dock resulting in a puncture. The employee did not apologize. Repairs will be costly and I will be referring this to my insurer. The Harbormaster must keep a sufficient number of experienced staff on duty to ensure customer and vessel safety. The day was Mother's Day but this is no excuse for unsafe conditions. I will return, however, I will have a personal conversation with the Harbormaster before docking.
Great marina with a very accommodating harbor master. Three spotless shower/restrooms. Easy walk to multiple good restaurants. Update Apr 2024. Still a great stop. One of our favorites.
Beautiful location, restrooms were clean, staff was very helpful. Easy walk to restaurants and sites.
Dockmaster Charles I’d helpful and polite. Marina is very closed to the small town. Some of the cleats in all wristlet needed to be re-secured. Great water pressure from the marina supplied hose.
The marina is treated as an asset by the town. The facilities are consistently well maintained. Very nice bathrooms, laundry etc. People in the town are very welcoming to visiting yachts. We dined out most meals during our visit at quality restaurants. We visited almost every shop and found nice things to buy.
Great facilities, floating docks, artsy/fun town. Due to weather, we left a day early after just after check out time and the marina refunded our payment for that day. Very nice.
Courtesy car and golf carts available. Dockmaster was great.
This was our 3rd trip this season to Onancock Wharf Marina. We love the floating docks, the secure facilities and the free washer and dryer is a REALLY nice benefit to those who have been on a boat for awhile. Also, the town (walking distance) has great restaurants and other stores with stuff that you might actually need. I even found a GREAT fiber shop. We will certainly be back!
We have been sailing to Onancock annually from Oxford for the last 30 years, one of our favorites-spotless restrooms and showers (even with terry bathmats). This year we weathered Tropical Storm Ophelia—safe and secure. Although the Marina had closed for the storm, Charles, the dock master gave us his cell phone before leaving ‘just in case’. This is southern hospitality at its best. We look forward to staying again next fall.
Great marina and town, a must stop on the Chesapeake. We cannot wait to return.
This is absolutely a 5 star destination. The marina is excellent. The marina staff are superb. The town and the people that live there are amazing. I can't say enough good things about this trip and I will be back for sure.
Amazing staff at the marina. Docks, facilities and rentals all first class. Onancock is absolutely amazing and the people there are the friendliest you'll ever meet. All around perfect trip - highly recommended.
Beautiful marina, friendly, helpful, nice people. We truly enjoyed our visit and would absolutely recommend visiting this lovely marina. Town was just a short walk away and pleasant.
Stayed 2 nights. Clean. Quiet. Staff were friendly and helpful at all times. Having ability to use the loaner car was greatly appreciated by our group.
Facility was clean and attractive, staff was prompt and attentive. Shower facilities had courtesy "Occupied" door handle cards helping to avoid accidental "walk-ins" should an inner lock not be engaged!
Awesome stay as always. Great facilities great staff and still the friendliest town on the Bay.
Great Marina, helpful dock hands, all around one of our favorite spots.
Stayed Aug 17 and Aug 18, not just Aug 17. Nice floating docks, head/shower facilities, covenient to restaurants, North St Playhouse, farmer's market - (on Saturday in season).
Excellent staff! Can not beat the location pretty much anywhere else. Town seems to be recovering from the economic effects of the pandemic. Highly recommend.
Wonderful scenery on the creek, easy to navigate. Staff was helpful and friendly. They have a loaner car and golf carts and nice bathrooms/showers. Very nice small town with lots of art shops and a few good restaurants. Nice place to visit.
Great little marina. Diesel, Gas & pump out, nice showers, friendly & capable staff, loaner car & rental golf carts (town is only a short walk). Newer floating docks & a good launch ramp if you drive there. Good dinners at Mallards just past the launch ramp. It is a long channel to get there so allow som time for that.
Love the setting, love the people, love the services. Will be back.
Nice facilities. The free laundry and clean restrooms and showers, much appreciated!
Dockmaster could use some lessons in, well, docking and tying upa boat. She started talking to some friends in the middle of the process and was then annoyed to the point of rolling her eyes when called on to further assist. But facilities are very good and well kept. A very, very senic and well protected spot with an excellent resturant next door and a nice small town.
45 minutes down creek, marked well but must focus. Marina staff in a hurry to get off, it was 2:30? Marina very clean. Walked to town, not much there and most everything was closed. Ate at Mallards service was excellent and food was outstanding. Alittle too quaint for me!
Excellent cruise up the river. Marina was well kept and in a great location. Assistant at the fuel pier and while docking was great. Employees were friendly and informative about Onancock. On site restaurant was very good. Location to small main stree was only a few blocks fro marina. Quaint town.
Great staff! Courtesy car available and two golf carts available to rent. Cute town; lots of specialty shops and good restaurants. Worth the visit!
Charles and Team were great! Beautiful facilities with much in close walking distance. We'll be back. s/v Mi Nena, Oriental NC
Onancock is a favorite place for us to cruise to. Marina is a great base; restrooms and showers are spotless, and dock hands are good.
Excellent, courteous service by dock crew. New piping’s and decking on bulkhead is great. Clean restrooms. Beautiful setting. The Mayor even came by with his dog and asked how we were being treated. Golf cart availability is a great plus also.
We love onnancock . Clean, friendly and professional staff. Fun walkable town . Locals are super nice . Great restaurants , great laundry and bath house .
Very nice stay in Onancock. The marina staff was helpful and courteous. The town has great restaurants, shops and a movie theater.
Am good. Dock’s and bath house clean and tidy. Dock hands were helpful and friendly. Easy to recommend.
What an upgrade since last visit many years ago, top notch facility and foremost excellent staff! We Love this destination.
We have been to Onancock Town Marina several times. We really enjoy the marina & it’s amenities. A filtered water machine/dispenser, free washer & dryer, very clean bathrooms. The floating slips are spacious with water & electric on the pedestal. A nice restaurant is just footsteps away from the marina & has fabulous food. We’ll definitely be returning to Onancock.
A lovely quiet marina. Everything worked and the slips are easy to get in and out of. The marina, bathrooms and laundry were very clean. Several restaurants within walking distance. This little town isn't what it used to be. So many shops have closed since the pandemic, but it is still a beautiful place.
Treated us great. Courtesy car and golf carts avail. Will come back
New floating docks, free laundry, loaner car, golf cart rental, and great Wi-Fi makes the is a must stop if you are cruising the eastern Shore.
Great floating docks. Excellent dock crew.
We thoroughly enjoyed Onancock! This little marina is in a beautiful, well protected harbor. Dockhands are very helpful and friendly. Bathhouse is clean and offers free laundry! There's a restaurant/bar right next door and the town is just a short walk. We happened to arrive on a Friday and they had music in the street. Nice farmers market on Saturday morning too!
Great marina, nice bathrooms with private showers, friendly staff. Floating docs, a great town to visit with good resturants and weekend events, check the Onancock web site. Be sure to visit Dannys gallery very original and local.
Wonderful, clean marina and the staff was very helpful in a very quaint town. Brian Gaquin
The staff were very helpful. One staff member made sure we got a dinner reservation for 16 members of our group!
Onancock is a wonderful stop and well worth the long motor in. We're a 40' catamaran and were located on the bulkhead. Everything about this small marina is two thumbs up. The dock hands were friendly and efficient. We had a minor inconvenience getting the boat in it's proper spot due to 2 boats tied up without permission, but it was resolved as fast as possible and was in no way the fault of the marina. The bathrooms are super clean and they even provide clean bath mats daily (a GREAT perk). Along with free laundry with modern, clean washer and dryer, free loaner car, golf carts, a friendly, welcoming town and of course, the Corner Bakery make this a stop that was hard to leave!!! Great job, you guys and gals.
Charming town with outstanding docks and marina. Attention to detail is apparent.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Genuinely interested in great customer service and they were extremely competent and knowledgeable about boaters needs.
Well maintained docks and facilities, very helpful friendly harbormaster
Nice town very close by. Diesel and pump out. Very helpful Dock attendant. Free laundry.
Excellent small marina , floating docks, full services, clean secure bathrooms, Mallards restaurant next door, small park for pets, one of the best! Onancock is a stunning small town with beautiful homes and very little traffic. This is a must stop.
We got stuck in Onancock due to bad weather. What a great place to get stuck! This marina is excellently maintained! What appears as a new floating dock, able to handle large power and sail vessels, clean, well maintained personal bathrooms with showers, water, electric, gas, diesel and pump out. And free washer and dryer use. Charles, the Harbor Master, is very friendly and always ready to help with fuel, pump out or line handling. Also, the town is really nice. Beautiful old Virginia charm, and everyone we met was exceedingly friendly and welcoming. (A local crabber picked up a cushion we lost in very bad weather and took the time to bring it to the wharf for us). We had people stopping by to say hello and ask if we needed anything frequently. My wife and I highly recommend the Onancock Wharf and Marina, and the town of Onancock as a destination not to be missed!
Great place, clean friendy with great fuel prices and do k help.
What a great stop. Very nice floating docks. Free Laundry. Clean showers. Even laundered bath mats for the shower. Plenty of water coming up the creek. a little shallow at the docks. Supposed to have a loaner car later. Two brand new golf carts to rent to see the town. Fuel and pump out available. Restaurant right next door.
What a sweet super protected very modern marina superbly run by dockmaster Craig! Great super clean showers etc. A walk or bike ride up the hill to all the best places to eat and shop. What a great town Onancock is, we stayed here while it blew 25-30 on the bay and we had almost flat calm on the dock. We will be back Craig, thank you!
Onancock Wharf and Marina is perfect. Rest rooms/showers are immaculate, floating docks make line handling easy, and prices are fair, but the harbormaster, Craig, makes the place special. We're better at docking than we used to be, but we're always a little apprehensive. Another boat arrived just after we did. Craig took our lines, made us secure, asked if we were good for a minute, ran over to help the other people, got them straight, hustled back to us, and hooked up our electricity - this was all after he was supposed to be off, but he had stayed late waiting for us to arrive. Docking is much less stressful when you know you have a professional in your corner.
Nice docks, clean facilities & nice to have free laundry. Town is very cute with restaurants & shops nearby. Friendly locals.
Onancock Wharf is a favorite place to visit. The facility is very nice. A free laundry is available. Onancock is pretty little town. It is a great place to walk around. A short walk away is the Corner Bakery with excellent donuts (closed Sunday and Monday).
Another adorable town with a terrific marina. The marina staff were wonderful and very efficient. The marina is clean with free laundry and a courtesy car. \n\nWe highly recommend the beautiful stop along the Chesapeake!
Great little marina right downtown.Harbormaster Craig was friendly and helpful.
Onancock Wharf and Marina is a must stop over on the Eastern shore. Friendly staff, clean facilities and excellent restaurants within walking distance.
This is a beautiful hidden gem on the Chesapeake. We would recommend the marina as a stop over. Dockmaster Craig was a great help with our lines, getting us settled and providing information on the walkable town. The docks are new and in great shape, electric was excellent and three separate baths with their own entry code-very new and clean. The town has alot of history and several great little shops and restaurants. We rode our bikes on beautiful country roads 2.5 miles to a Super Walmart to fill a prescription. This was one of our favorite stops this year from the Bahamas up to Boston!
We had a wonderful stay at the marina. Craig the dockmaster is very accommodating and keeps the facilities in pristine condition ! We enjoyed town which includes a number of very good restaurants. We will definitely return.
This marina is a wonderful little find with its own restaurant, floating docks, clean facilities and within walking distance of the town. The only drawback was the Dockmaster. We had a minor mechanical problem, he could not tell us the nearest parts store or mechanic and acted like he was totally disinterested and that none of it was his problem. A very unfriendly man but look past him and try this marina.
Great dock-master and crew. Fantastic setup and docks Courtesy car was nice as were golf carts Restrooms were very clean and free laundry to boot !
Fantastic all the way around. Great restaurant and museum next door, accommodating staff, quaint town on the Bay.
Everything was great. The marina is modern and well maintained and the bath house facilities are excellent. Dockmaster Craig was super helpful and his crew of guys took care of all of our needs. They made our stay very enjoyable. We love Onancock! We’ll be back soon!
This was my 3rd stay at Onancock Wharf, and like my visits before to this cute as a button little town, I know that with each visit I can count on all of the basic amenities being there, clean, with easy access But if there is a knock on the Wharf, which is more nitpicking than criticism, it would be that it does not have a small general store to serve the many boaters who visit, and that the slips lack separation to the public parking that also serves the wharf area. Without screening, visiting boaters are open to car and foot traffic until about 10pm at night, and the annoying parking lot light that stays on all night. Until the town addresses this issue with some kind of plant or fence screening, I would highly advise visiting boaters to plan on tying up bow first for privacy
Very nice little town.....especially the donut shop!!
Great little town- floating docks, helpful dock hands, Mallards at the Wharf Restaurant on the waterfront, short walk to town. Don’t miss the bakery in town for fresh donuts! If you have been curious about seeing Tangier Island, you can take a short ferry ride (Onancock-Tangier Ferry) from the town dock. We will be back!
Docks are nice and sturdy. Good crew helped us get tied up in a wind that was not kind for docking. However, the laundry room and restrooms have no AC. And the ice machine in the laundry room makes it 100 degrees + in that room. Fans in the restrooms probably help, but if you took a shower, you'd be sweating again by the time you got dried off!! Good place for a storm refuge, but not a place to visit for any extended period of time.
We found the crew to be extremely helpful, the facilities were clean and operational. The proximity to town makes the stay enjoyable.
We love Onancock and the marina. The staff were super friendly and helpful when we docked. The facility is lovely and a very short walk to town. We'll definitely continue to come here.
Onancock Wharf is an excellent anchorage. The docking area has recently been renovated. The slips are wide and access is easy. Harbormaster and staff are friendly and helpful. When we first called, the dock was fully booked. The Harbormaster sent us to dockwa.com to put our name on a waiting list and also took my cell phone number in case a slip opened up -- which it did. The Harbormaster extended our stay at our request. Staff was helpful in getting our boat docked to refuel. Dock and bathroom facilities are well-maintained. A great place to tie up!
Nice floating docks. Well protected. Clean showers. Helpful, friendly staff.
Delightful small marina with an attentive staff that stays late. Moderate walk to town, with golf carts available.
Very scenic approach and docks. The town is small, quiet and host to some great places to dine. Staff were very friendly and professional. We had to change our plans for departure to miss some weather so we look forward to returning.
Awesome help from Dockman Great help from the guys on the dock. Nice facility clean will definitely be back to Onancock.
Dockmaster, Craig Tanner, is the best! Delightful overnight, as always.
We loveOnancock, and the dock master Craig does a great job. We look forward to returning later this summer
Always love visiting Onancock. Craig works hard but could use some dock hands during the week.
Great stop. Clean comfortable marina, cute town!
Excellent visit. Nice floating docks and clean restrooms. Help from Craig, dockmaster was wonderful.
Craig, the dockmaster, did a great job. Interesting town.
Beautiful town and the docking was great!! Everyone is very friendly and helpful!! We’ll be back!!
Great dock master. Friendly and shared local dining options. Cleanest bathroom on the bay!
Attentive, professional and experienced Marina staff. Great restaurant/bar on site with outdoor seating and beautiful sunsets. Easy walk into town-quaint and artsy. We have two fourlegged crew and easy walks from the Marina thru lovely historic neighborhoods. Great stop, well marked channel in from the Bay. Please don’t tell anyone!!
Excellent facilities (clean showers, laundry, power, water, new floating docks with wide berth) and a wonderful and scenic little town within easy walking distance and with several excellent restaurants, some wonderful art galleries, and even a movie theater.
We have stayed at Onancock Wharf three times since last year - each time we were impressed with the quality and cleanliness of the facilities and the helpfulness of the dock staff.
Great service, clean shower rooms, laundry facility at no charge, bring your own soap. Convenient walk to town.
Definitely one of our favorite places to visit on the entire Bay. We have now visited two years in a row and it is a long way from Annapolis. Well worth the trip to the peace, quiet and enjoyable town. Fabulous dinner at Charlotte Hall Hotel & Restaurant. Got to meet Charlotte and Gary and it was a treat to share one of their famous desserts with them.
Always a great experience. Craig and his staff are wonderful!
Great assistance with mooring; efficient reservations; great attitudes and customer service; clean bathrooms and everything worked. Great Marina!
They have a very nice staff and accommodations. Close to downtown with good shops and restaurants
Nice small marina with floating docks. Town is very cute. Great doughnut shop and a few restaurants. However we were there on a Monday and only the Blarney Stone was open. Very good pub food. Farmers market on Saturday
This is a great destination marina. Nice new floating docks, new facilities, great staff who were very helpful for anything we needed. And the town is a super destination with many shops and restaurants within easy walking distance.
Lots of help docking and very clean restrooms. Well kept marina. Short walk to restaurants , stores and movies. Friendly people would go back again
Everyone was wonderful and we look forward to our next visit.
Great little town within strolling distance & first class operation of the wharf- quick responses, good information, 2 to assist with dock lines, clean showers/restrooms, non-ethanol dinghy gas, pump out that works, fairly priced-what’s not to like?
Great Marina. Floating docks are very nice, dockhands extremely helpful. Half a dozen fantastic chef owned restaurants within walking distance, one of them being Mallards right there at the marina. A lot of shops and art galleries within a short walk. No marina store but they have golf carts for rent and a courtesy car that could get you to Walmart or grocery store (5 min drive)
A wonderful place to spend a couple days. The marina is small but very nice and serves the town quite well. Excellent and helpful marina staff to go along with the nice facilities. Several good restaurants and shops in town and always friendly people around.
Clean, floating docks, new shower/laundry facilities, fuel, pump out, and friendly staff. Always a pleasant stay. The best Corner Bakery on the Bay for morning donuts.
Very neat clean marina. Loved the little town of Onancock.
Very friendly staff! Easy in and out with a charming town to visit. Take the ferry to Tangier Island for a step back in time.
What a surprise. Small town marina with a very helpful and friendly staff. PERFECT! We used their courtesy car (a well retired police car) that was a real adventure.
We had an item stolen from our boat on Saturday evening. The video cameras in place at the Town Marina, I was told did not work.
The marina staff were very pleasant and attentive. Our slip assignment was perfect for our deep draft sailboat. Cleanest restrooms of almost any marina we have visited. Cloth bath mats are a nice touch. Perhaps more trash cans for garbage on a holiday weekend. We really enjoy visiting Onancock.
The marina is small but well managed and the Dockmaster and crew were very attentive to our needs when tying up. My vessel is 50' and requires more than 15' in finger pier length in order to exit the boat. The marina was able to give me a slip in front of Mallard's Restaurant which allowed us the full length of the bulkhead in order that we could put down our ladder-steps. And did I say that Mallard's was AWESOME? Well.....it was! We ate three meals there! There is a nice dinghy dock located just past the marina (above the bridge) where I could dock our dinghy. This afforded safe boarding for my wife and our doggie who LOVES dinghy rides and swimming. As an aside, Onancock is a beautiful, well-maintained town with some of the most beautiful "old" homes you could ever see! There are several terrific restaurants there as well, two come to mind, Janet's General Store is a must for breakfast and the Italian restaurant known as "DiVinci's" was GREAT! We will definitely return for a longer stay~! Thank you Onancock Wharf and Marina for making our stay so pleasurable. PS - during departure the wind kicked up and my 1st Mate got our spring line jammed between the piling and the dock. We had no choice but to leave it on the dock. :(
Our favorite marina on the Chesapeake Bay. The staff is extremely helpful, from arrival to departure. Exceptionally-clean restrooms and free washer/dryer available on-site.
Excellent marina, very clean and quiet. The staff was very professional and very accommodating. We enjoyed visiting the small town and the people where very friendly.
Excellent. New Floating docks. Staff gave great assistance upon arrival and other needs. Facilities clean and serviceable. Good restaurants available and Town of Onancock quaint to visit.
we had 9 boats come for the weekend. from 33' express-46' convertibles. Had a great time. The marina is super accommodating, and bath houses we extremely clean. Nice, quiet marina. Mallards is next door to the marina, which had a band Friday night, entertaining, and Mallards was fantastic for our group, coming and going, adding chairs and tables. just really nice people. The town was sleepy and quiet which was nice, a few shops to walk in, and a farmer's market on Saturday morning after breakfast at Janet's was nice. a very walkable town.
Great overnight stay. Definitely will return in the future. Staff was helpful and courteous. Town was beautiful with extremely friendly residents. We ate at the Blarney Stone and Mallards, both restaurants I would recommend. Don't forget to take an evening stroll around the town to check out the gorgeous homes
Very good stay, greatly improved over previous stay 10 years ago. Liked the floating docks, clean showers and fine restaurant less than 5 minute away.
Great marina in a gorgeous setting. Very helpful getting into slip.
The facilities at the marina are very nice and the staff is helpful and welcoming. The town exudes charm and is well worth a visit.
Well protected marina, a ways off the Chesapeake, but worth the trip. Walkable downtown with some history, places for a meal and a great bakery.
friendly dock staff and well appointed marina
Wonderful quaint marina with the amenities of a larger marina—clean bathrooms and showers as well as laundry. A very small ship’s store with essentials would be a nice touch, but no complaints. Burnham Guides kayak and bike shop sells a few essentials. Not really a convenience store in town unless you are biking so provision well when boating there.
We cruised to Onancock from Poquoson, Virginia at 8 knots on our 1984 Kadey-Krogen 42 . Great cruise and wonderful destination! Quiet, peaceful, scenic. A very clean marina! Great staff! The town was very, very nice - much like a welcome step back in time. Yes, we will return!
We never pass up a chance to stop at Onancock Wharf when we are on a cruise. The facility is clean, convenient, and very reasonably priced. Dockmaster Craig is super helpful and friendly. The wharf is right in town so you can walk to a variety of good restaurants and shops and stroll the quiet neighborhood. Staying here also provides a convenient way to visit Tangier Island via Captain Mark Crockett's boat that is kept at the wharf. A great day trip with plenty of time to explore the charms of Tangier. Floating docks and free laundry are also very nice features.
What a beautiful cruise up the river to this tiny little town. The marina is small and very well protected. The city isn’t totally open for the season but there’s enough to keep you entertained for a day of two. My wife actually found clothes she like. That’s a major score since she is really picky. There’s also some really pretty anchorage areas if you’d rather.
The floating docks are quite new and in good shape. The bathrooms are great and kept very clean. The only suggestion I would make for sailboats is to back in to the slip since they are plenty wide but the floating finger pier is only half the length of the slip. That will make getting off the boat much easier.
Great Dockmaster, fine new facility, love the free washer and dryer and shower mats.
Excellent as usual. Craig is a good man and has a nice staff. Dinner at Mallards was exceptional.
Fantastic early-season stay overall. Deb was great greeting us for an Easter Sunday late afternoon arrival, and Craig was super friendly while we were there. The facilities are up-to-date and everything was clean. The only bummer was the shower water didn't get very hot - not as hot as the sinks. Otherwise, it was fantastic and we'll be back.
Really nice quiet and quaint facility. Craig and Bill friendly and helpful. Floating aluminum docks in great shape. Laundry and head/shower top notch—clean and new. Mallard’s restaurant right there, short walk into lovely town for breakfast at Janet’s.
Harbormaster Craig was awesome. He was very helpful and professional. I cannot say how grateful we were to be in this location while underway on our weeklong cruise. My wife was in great pain and in need of an emergency prescription refill. The marina has a long list of volunteers who are willing to shuttle boaters at the marina to different places around town. Within no time at all Mr. John was at our boat ready and willing to help us out. He drove us to the drugstore four miles away, waited while the prescription was filled, and drove us back to our boat. The story ends well due to this helpful service.
I love this marina. Clean, private bathrooms, free laundry, close to everything!
Loved the people and the town! Marina great
Great setting. Small cozy and friendly marina. Easy walk to town where great restaurants and shops . Good service .....only one disappointment as we wanted to stay half day and were told not an option even if we paid. I’m sure there is a good reason but we wanted to give the wind a chance to lay down
Marina staff communicated with us exceptionally well. They let us know the exact wind and current to expect. And stayed a few minutes overtime to help us tie up. The locals are extremely friendly and the stores and restaurants we visited were very Covid aware and helped us feel safe.
Very helpful & friendly Clean facilities. Beautiful town!
Onancock Wharf is a nice and clean little marina with new floating docks and showers. The folks in Onancock are extremely friendly and will gladly give boaters rides to local places. There is the Star Shuttle system for longer trips and the Shore Transport service for rides and tours. The Onancock to Tangier a Island leaves from the Wharf. Mallards dock bar and Restaurant is on-site and has good food.
Helpful, friendly staff. Nice bathhouses. Great floating docks. Easy walk to town. Next to a very good restaurant (Mallards) and Kayak guides/outfitters/tour leaders. The a stronger wifi signal would be welcome with higher speed.
the facility itself, and staff, as usual were wonderful. We always enjoy visiting shops, restaurants, and galleries in town. This visit was only marred by the gravel loading activities next door to the marina. A steam shovel transferring gravel to a barge created a tremendous amount of dust that coated our boat. Won't stop us from returning, but pretty annoying.
What a great find ! Almost hate to give a review so it won’t get too busy. The facilities are new and clean and fresh. Loved having the Free Laundry. So close to town. Great & helpful staff
I had been to this beautiful little town by car a few years ago, and was determined to visit again by boat. Although a little off the beaten path moving our 44' Jeanneau sloop from Florida to Maine via the Chesapeake, the stop over was well worth it, and one the highlights of the trip. As a bonus the marina had even been upgraded since our prior visit - great facility and staff! Convenient excellent restaurant right at the wharf area, but don't miss the opportunity to take the short walk up the street to the beautiful village with more great restaurants and shops. The 5 mile trip up the creek looks daunting on the charts, but the channel is well marked, and the wharf area is very protective. Highly recommended as a destination or stop over, but reservations are strongly recommended, especially for weekends.
It was great, the new floating slips are a super improvement. The staff was really helpful and friendly.
New floating docks are excellent. Dock master could not have been any more helpful or nicer. What are you waiting for.....GO!
Great restaurant on the wharf “Mallards”. The rumors of very friendly town people are true. A woman drove up and offered to get groceries for us! The facilities were clean and in good repair. The location was beautiful and serene. We’ll definitely be back.
The stay at the marina was great. The booking experience with Dockwa was not. Dockwa collected the 3 nights slip fee from me, but the marina had no idea that anything other than the initial night has been collected so they charged me (and effectively double-charged me). Now I have to work to get the money back. Summary - I will definitely go to Onancock again but I won't use Dockwa to do it.
Dockmaster Glenn provide provides excellent customer service. The facilities are new and modern. This is our 5th stay at Onancock. The facilities are always improving.
Lovely stay. Harbormaster Deb caught our lines and got us settled in. Good power and water. Great location with a number of excellent restaurants and a movie theater. Deb knew we needed groceries and called someone in town who offered to let us borrow their car! How do you top that?
Loved every bit of it! An awesome place to visit. Friendly staff at the marina! We had a great time and will be back!
Ruth, Deb and Tex are doing a great job! TV reception at the marina stinks (not the marina's fault) and the Wifi is incredibly slow at most times. Maybe the City can improve this service. Disappointed that the code to the laundry was changed our last day/evening without any notification. Otherwise, Onancock is a great town to visit.
Great facilities! Ruth and her stuff go out of their way to make your stay a good one. Bathrooms, wfi, pumpout, washer & dryer all in great working condition.
Jeremy, Tex & Deb made the visit very nice. After a long day we were welcomed at the dock by the staff & neighbors to help us into the slip. Maybe it was my bad docking skills? Tex especially had a lot of local knowledge/stories to share. The bathrooms are exceptionally clean & Onancock is a very charming town. Will return again
Wonderful people at. Onancock. Hotel Charlotte remains excellent.
