Since its inception, the Club like a great ship, has been able to survive wars, storms and financial problems because its members have always responded to the call for help.
Members, both past and present, should truly be proud to say that they have been a part of Point Independence Yacht Club and have helped mold its great history.
In closing, I want to say that it is not only a privilege but an honor to be your Commodore and to be part of this great family.
The staff was super nice. Beautiful yacht club, great docks and clubhouse . I will definitely be back.
Stopped here on our way north. Easy access to amenities and all members and staff that we met were kind and helpful. We paid a return visit on our way back south. We love IPYC and Onset. Thanks again to the folks at IPYC who make Onset such an easy and fun stopover.
Spent two nights on a mooring. Early season, but Point independence Yatch Club was open. Mark promptly responded to our request with the gate code & the code to the clubhouse. Facilities were very nice & exceptionally clean. Laundry was very nice & affordable, $1.50 load for each machine, two washers & three dryers. Great facility, very welcoming, offered to take me to CVS about 2 miles but I needed the walk. Onset is nice with several restaurants & bars, a grocery/liquor store , and an ACE hardware all within a Short walk. We will be back!
Paradise!!! Great people, tremendous location Onset Village is amazing
Mark and Chloe were very helpful. Great location for a sunset. A short walk to Mark Anthony’s for pizza. Excellent facilities. Made you feel welcome.
Zero stars (had to pick 1) — we had a confirmed reservation, hailed the yacht club on the vhf to no avail, requesting our mooring assignment. Also tried calling their number (went to voicemail). The mooring field had very shallow areas and our boat’s 6-foot draft came within mere inches of running aground as we gingerly made our way through the mooring field. We never got a call back, never heard from anyone. The fuel dock had a “closed sign” and the pump-out station was also unavailable. We would like a refund.
A beautiful setting, incredibly helpful staff, cute little town. So nice!
Nice dock with helpful people. Short walk to our favorite restaurant in town. Looking forward on coming again. Alex W. /Serenity
Point Independent Yacht Club is a great place to stay. The front office who help booked the reservation to the dock staff, they were there to help in many ways. I recommend it to anyone.
Great location for a stopover before transiting the canal. Beautiful facilities and a really fun welcoming club.
We met a friendly crowd here at the PIYC. The dockmaster and his hands were efficient and very helpful. They even offered to take us into Onset by launch if we wanted. The docks are in good shape and fuel and pumpout services are near the face dock to which transients are tied. PIYC is a great departure point for boats headed east on the Cape Cod Canal.
Always a great spot to stop either before or after transiting the CapeCod Canal. Great atmosphere and always feel welcome from both slip holders and locals.
Strategic location when entering or leaving the Canal. Casual, friendly club in a funky, authenic town. We were even lucky enough to catch the Wednesday night town concert featuring "Forever Young," a Neil Young tribute band. Only issue may be for deep-draft boats. A very enjoyable stop on our cruise.
Fantastic! Would certainly go back!
We just stayed on transit from Provincetown to New Bedford. We did not experience the facilities but directions to the mooring area were clear and directions said to pick up any available mooring.
What a great place to visit and spend time at. PIYC members were super friendly and helpful with tips on swimming, food options and we were in time for the Friday night Fish Fry! Delish! We had a minor engine issue on our day of departure but a neighbor boat took time to help us diagnose and we were on our way. Looking forward to coming back again!!
Nice place Very friendly staff Very helpful We will be back
Great facility - showers, laundry, grills. Mark and his crew really helpful. Walking distance to restaurants. Grocery 1 mile away.
Great place, great people. Clean and well managed.
Dock master was awesome. The facilities were clean and they have a beautiful beach that we used
Friendly and helpful staff, clean showers and overall a really nice place
Excellent as always! Staff is friendly, attentive, and professional.
Beautiful yacht club, with amazing facilities. The staff was attentive and always willing to lend a hand. Point Independence will be a go to destination for our family every year going forward.
Wonderful place to keep your boat
No facilities. No fuel. Employees ride and hostile.
Nice people. Awesome location, clean shower & laundry and superior location. Low fuel prices; Dockmaster with a sense of humor. Walk to town.
Best place to stay in Onset. The crew is awesome and Mark is tops in making sure our stay was perfect
Great as usual. Showed and even fueled up.
My stay was excellent. Easy harbor to get to. Lots of things to explore. Staff was very helpful
Great place, best dock hands.
This was our 2nd visit staying on the dock at Point Independence Yacht Club. It's a beautiful club with great fuel prices and fuel attendants. It's a short walk to town with lots of great restaurant options (fyi- a couple places in town are cash only). We were on the face dock so the wifi was a bit spotty out there. But it wasn't a problem for us. Will definitely be going back again.
Mark was communicative and so helpful. Laundry and showers were very clean. The facilities are well-situated. Thank you so much for a great stay!
Awesome. Great harbor and great facilities and people
We have moored at PIYC on a number of occasions. Every time has been consistently first rate. Mark and the dock staff are great and can’t do enough for you. The facilities are always clean and in good repair. There fuel prices are hard to beat, the ice reasonable and sub-cooled, the pumpout service prompt, and if you are there Friday evening don’t forget the fish fry. The location is right off of the cape cod canal and it is a great stop off before either transiting Buzzards Bay westbound or the canal. Eastbound (waiting fair tide).
Nice marina, friendly Dockmaster. Showers were clean.
Nice marina and friendly yacht club members. A short walk into town with several restaurants.
Fantastic hidden gem in Onset, MA. We've been to this town many times making passages through the Cape Cod Canal. If you need services - fuel, pump out, laundry, showers they have it all in a very clean and friendly environment. Our new favorite place to visit on passages.
Good help with docking and wonderful introduction to OnSet as well as guidance for going through the Cape Cod Canal and entering Plymouth Harbor. Restaurant recommendation was spot on!
Great service, wonderful people. Coming back!! Mark this place as a great stop!
Excellant ,beautiful facility very friendly and helpful staff
Location is great, Staff is great. But the Wi-Fi does not work out at the docks. If your lively hood depends on it, better use Starlink or find a different marina.
We enjoyed our recent stay. Beautiful facility, courteous dockhands. A bit disappointed the club lounge was not open.
Nice mooring field. Small club but good facilities. Everyone was very pleasant.
Great port, close to Cape Cod Canal. Easy dinghy tie up at public dock in the downtown. Plenty of beaches. Enjoyed free Wednesday Night concert at the band stand stage.
Very accommodating and lovely spot.
Best facility and staff on the Cape. Nestled in Onset Harbor with easy access to all the islands and the North shore. I am so lucky to be a member of this incredible Yacht Club.
Very helpful staff, great docks, power, water, etc.
Our stay was great and the dockmaster was very helpful. We’ll stay here again. Such a beautiful harbor.
Great place to be, very friendly and beautiful location!
Pulled in for fuel, really good dock staff. Asked about moorings as the weather was supposed to deteriorate. Moorings available, price was good and the moorings and pennants were clean, well buoyed, and well marked. Will stay again.
The people here could not have been more accommodating and friendly!
The staff is so helpful. It’s so nice to see a dockmaster who really appreciates and trains his crew. Mark is the best.
Well managed YC in a lovely little cove with beaches. A short walk into town with lot’s of restaurants. Thank you PIYC!
Great place, great people. Love staying here.
Great place. Nice clean showers. We’ll be back
The best! This is a 1st class place.
Very pleasant harbor and easy well marked entrance! The yacht club had readily available mooring balls. Easy to extend our stay, so we could dinghy in and see the town. Nice place. We had no contact with the yacht club other than on the phone to extend our stay. Highly recommend it as a nice stop over!
Great stay. Very accommodating people and nice facilities.
Nice facility with very clean bathrooms, shower, and laundry facility. Walking distance from face dock to facility is not convenient.
Great service. Super friendly and helpful. Terrific bathrooms and laundry facilities. The club members were very friendly, too. And the beach adjacent to the club is a gem. 5 minute walk or dingy to town. No real market, but the restaurant options are good.
Very welcoming and clean facilities, easy to walk to restaurants and the hardware store, cute town
Best stop on the Cape. Dockmaster Mark and his crew are fantastic. They will do anything to make your stay a pleasant one. Great facilities. In walking distance to great restaurants. Whenever we are here, we feel more like a club member than a transient boater.
Mark the dock master Very helpful and accommodating! And the other dock hands great also. Friendly people all around.
We had an excellent time and services were great!
They are very accommodating. Quiet. Have laundry available. Takes awhile to get an Uber ride. Wifi doesn't seem to reach out to moorings. Town docks nearby to go to local restaurants, market, post office, laundry, great ice cream places. There was a summer concert series in town every Wednesday. Got to enjoy some music. I recommend this place as an easy stay over before heading north through the canal or before heading south to the islands.
Convenient walk to town, casual atmosphere. Friendly folk.
Excellent experience. Staff is phenomenal! Highly recommend stopping here.
Best sunsets around and plenty of places to grab a delicious bite to eat in the center of Onset.
Perfect stop when traveling the canal . Staff was very helpful and great price
Wasn't our first stay at Point Independence Yacht Club and won't be our last. Great facilities and friendly staff.
Ducked into PIYC to wait weather to transit NE thru the canal. This is our 2nd time here and we can't say enough how we like it. The showers and laundry are impeccable! Mark, the marina manager, 'gets it'. He knows the issues we have as transients and does a great job addressing them. We look forward to staying again on our return south in August.
Easy access, friendly staff. The club is clean and well maintained. Nice showers are available. There is a laundry room with two washers and three dryers, $1.50 each per load so have your quarters ready. There is no launch service. Town is a short dinghy ride to the town dock or a short walk. Not many “Yacht Club” amenities but the members we met were very friendly. We will return.
It was awesome. We explored the harbor with our dinghy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay here again.
We have stopped at Point Independence Yacht Club, and there is a reason: Friendly, competent folks that work there. Easy dock to get in and out of. Two washers and two dryers with a counter to make folding your laundry easier. A perfect place to catch your breathe before going through the Cape Cod Canal or right after you have come through.
Great experience this year. Very friendly, accommodating staff with very good facilities: showers, etc. Everything clean and neat. A small beach adjoins the club, easy walk to downtown Onset which has several restaurants. In an appreciated change from previous years, the wi-fi connection was very good.
Awesome,, great people, helpful, friendly, beautiful place, stayed extra night. Easy access to dock, thank you
Nice facility. Bathrooms are new and cleaned regularly. Dock staff are friendly and helpful. Moorings are spaced appropriately. Pretty beach surrounding the facility. Entrance from Cape Cod Canal is well marked, but deserves respect because of current
Perfectly good spot. It was not apparent that PIYC was unattended by VHF and that one must grab any available mooring that is labeled PIYC.
Members are very very helpful and friendly!! Eddie, Steve, Chuck and Mike treated us like good friends even though we were transients. Mike resolved an electrical problem we had. Kids had a great fishing tournament. Great family community. Thank you to all!!
Only stayed one night, club offered dinghy dick and nice laundry. Pump out boat was available, but we weren't there in time to request it for that day and we left early the next morning. Easy in and out.
Very helpful staff at fuel/water dock, easy mooring assignment, we’ll protected mooring field.
Great spot to moor on way to or from the Canal. Fun town.
The dock is always accommodating and flexible.
Great little stopover, excellent and clean facilities, friendly people, interesting and scenic town. Altogether an excellent stay!
Great!!! Very friendly!!! Very good fuel prices TOO.
Helpful, courteous dock staff, easy dinghy dock...even great diesel price! We will be back.
Great place to stop. Everything you need right near by. Dock staff is super friendly and helpful.
Docks are in great shape and the harbor is quite well protected. We pulled in and there was lots of help including club members to get us tied up in windy conditions. Heads and laundry clean and modern. Lots of green space for dog walking. Recommend!
Great area and very protected mooring field with convenient gas dock.
Reservations were easy and confirmed quickly. We were met at the dock and assisted with tie up upon arrival and departure. Will go back!
This is a hidden gem! The Marina is pristine, including the beautiful upgraded facilities. We were welcomed with open arms by the local boaters and included in Yacht Club events. The Staff provides excellent information about the area and places to see. We will return every year to this protected, spacious, quiet, welcoming Yacht Center! PT Independence has become our favorite destination in Buzzards Bay. I can’t say enough about the spectacular Staff and Residents!
I picked up a mooring in Onset Bay for hurricane/TS Elsa with predicted 40-50K winds. There were several other boats that also did the same. There were no issues with moored boats. There were a couple of anchored boats that dragged, but no casualties. It was just a bit more comforting for a single handed sailor on a mooring for this storm. Thank you sooooo much PIYC for accommodating me and several other sailors!
Excellent staff and service. Waited out Elsa on a mooring ball, and there were no issues. Three anchored vessels dragged during the storm, but we were safe and sound. Onset is a beautiful town to explore. We'll be back!
Nice people. Good mooring balls, good laundry.
Excellent service! They are rebuilding their internet today!
PIYC folks are extremely helpful. I needed a mooring for a 2 day trailer project that turned into a 3 day project. Thanks again.
Very convenient location when transmitting the Cape Cod Canal. Very quiet and well maintained mooring field. The club house house has new, beautiful showers and rest rooms. The staff is friendly and helpful. A few good restaurants are nearby. A great place to stay in a beautiful, well-protected harbor.
Second to none in service, hospitality, knowledge, and courtesy
My husband and I had the pleasure of being a guest at Point Independence Yacht Club for 5 night. From the reservation to the day we left, The Steward Steve and his staff were fantastic. The boat owners are very nice and they keep their boat in fantastic shape. We look forward to docking here again. Thank you PIYC.. :-)
Helpful staff, friendly environment
Our first stay years ago was out of necessity. Rough seas, a stuck bridge, and lack of daylight altered our plans. A member of the yacht club overheard myself and a friend on the VHF talking about where we could stay. They guided us into a slip. We have been back every year since. Everyone has always been warm and welcoming. Dog friendly, A short walk to town, Good fuel prices. The way a yacht club should be. Thank u for another great stay.
The staff on the fuel dock were very friendly and helpful. We picked up a mooring for one night, and did laundry. They have three brand new showers that will be approved for use this Monday. (The only thing is it takes 3 full minutes for the water to get warm!) The harbor was very quiet.
It was our first time in the harbor and we draw 7’ so we were very cautious. When we called the club they were very non-chalet and gave us vague directions to our mooring. Due to high winds we never got into our dinghy to head to shore, so I don’t know how the facilities were.
Friendly staff and slip holders. Everything is as advertised. Great place to stop going either way through the canal.
Gorgeous view from a beautiful marina. We had a wonderful time ! Can’t wait to come back.
Excellent experience! Everyone was friendly and helpful, beautiful property. Could not be better! Highly recommended!!!
Steve and everyone at Point Independence were absolutely fantastic - ready, willing, and able to help and so friendly and kind. We had a great spot on the outside dock with a few other guests. Top-notch place.
Barry, dockmaster, was terrific. Cold rainy Sunday, he was quick to come out and help us dock, made sure we understood everything, showed us the clubhouse and big screen tv, advised us on dining/drinking spots, gave us his cell phone number and told us to call him at any time. Also, engaging and friendly. The facility was fine, well appointed, and in good repair. Great protected place to wait out a storm.
PIYC has become our favorite marina in this area. Great location and the staff is the best. Dockmaster Barry goes the extra mile making staying there a great time.
Friendly folks with first class accommodations. Great restaurants within walking distance.
What an absolute pleasure to spend a week here. We own a 76ft and our crew needed a car so the dockmaster Barry was so kind to lend it to us. The facility is immaculate and the docks are well kept and look new! Highly recommend this marina!
Mooring was perfect Steward was very helpful in the morning getting ice and bringing it to my boat. Very helpful
We love PIYC! The staff is super friendly and Barry, the dockmaster, went out of his way to be welcoming and accommodating. Great facilities and access to the beach. Short walk to restaurants and shops.
As on our trip north in June Barry knocked it out of the park with friendly, attentive service. IPYC will always be a regular stop on our trips through the CCC!
Beautiful Harbor, nice facility. Fun stay.
Totally great guys, club marina and harbor. They voluntarily came out with their pump boat after they heard on the radio that the harbor master had shut down his pump boat early for the day. Great service.
Dockmaster and crew were very helpful. Onset Village quaint.
Easy access, quick response to mooring assignment. IPYC is always friendly and accomodating
Great place and location Extremely helpful and friendly dock staff. Good facilities with new restrooms, although shower could use a redo. Short walk to quant Onset Village. Will be back.
Great location, friendly staff I am reluctant to give them a good review for fear of no future availability. This place is a hidden gem, walk to a quaint village with great restaurants, Friday night fish fry that's to die for. Now comes the unique part : PIYC has a dock master by the name of Barry who treats guests as if they where members. Barry will do everything he can to accommodate your needs (the best that I have come across in 40 years of boating) and his entire staff have the same values. I have to attribute this to the Commodore because it is not just the Marina, everybody from the restaurant to specifically the House chairman were just fantastic. Richard G Lamb Weymouth MA Sarasota FL
Stayed 4 nights. Yacht Club was very accommodating. We even attended their Friday night fish fry. Town has a bus that will take you to Stop and Shop for a buck. Transiting the canal is a nightmare so time slack if you can.
Awesome stay at Point Independence Yacht Club. We stayed July 5-7, 2019. Our second time there and will definitely go back again. The members were friendly and they were having their 4th of July gathering the Saturday we were there and invited us to join. The beach is right at the end of the dock so it is awesome for small kids. The marina is clean and has restrooms, showers and laundry. There is also a fuel dock and a pump out boat available. Barry the marina manager and his staff were wonderful and very accommodating. There is a nice clean grill area that is overhead protected. A short walk uptown will bring you to several restaurants. My favorite is Mark Anthony's for pizza. They have lots of other menu items as well including seafood but I discovered they have the best chicken salad I've ever had! Made in house and not loaded with mayo. It was yum. This is a protected place to stay if you are boating through the Cape Cod canal in your travels. We will definitely be back again.
Great accommodations and staff. Location is fantastic. And the members are very welcoming!
Great marina. Clean , friendly staff was so helpful !!! Great spot to walk to dinner and they have nice tables and chairs in the dock for morning coffee. Or evening cocktail. We will def be back. !!!!
Lovely and friendly well maintained marina. Close to town and restaurants. Will return!
Best Kept Secret in New England.
A wonderful stop for the night before making passage through the canal. Excellent and friendly service, really nice facilities. Harbor launch to downtown for dining etc. we will be back.
Beautiful anchorage but we were unable to contact Port Independence YC to determine which mooring....we arrived @ 7:15pm & had tried both calling & hailing on VHF to no avail when we were 1/2 hour out
Great place for either a stopover or vacation.
A really nice well kept facility. And Barry and his staff were excellent to deal with and very helpful to us. They service and help was above and beyond.
Great place and very helpful staff. We stay again when in Onset. Thanks
Dock master sent me to mooring that put my 46’ vessel around... hiess they over booked their mooring field. Dockmaster then leaves immediately cause its time to get off work and never bothered to leave code for bathroom or showers! Yep... real nice
All we did was grab a mooring. The only interaction with staff was via VHF to report the mooring number. We were directed to pay via Dockwa. PIYC no longer offers launch service so we did not go ashore, did not use any PIYC facilities. It turns out that there is an Onset Town launch that would have provided service but PIYC did not tell us. No pick-up stick, single pennant, pennant messy. The best we can say is that the mooring held.
Great spot - very friendly, Barry was very accommodating.
Great help at the fuel dock. The person there led me to our slip even thougb, at 4 pm, there was noone around in the office. We got the gate code from our slip neighbor just before he left for the day, otherise we woukd have been stuck without a way onto our dock when we left to YC to go to dinner. But we love PIYC and Onset and have been coming every year for more than 25 years.
Very helpful staff, great facilities
The location just off the Cape Cod canal is a perfect for trips to Provincetown, the Elizabethan Islands or the Vineyard. The area provides top self fishing. The harbor is very well protected. And there are numerous dock and dine options within a 15-20 minute boat ride. There are also launch services that will pick you up at the club and bring you to area restaurants.
Very nice place. Safe Harbor and heavy moorings. The only thing I would recommend is that they check the pennants on their moorings. Lines appeared old and frayed. We used a dock line for extra protection while the winds were up.
We had a great visit. Plenty of moorings. Well protected and 10 to 12 foot depths. Shep at the dock was very helpful and a big SHOUT OUT to Ryan who ran us back and forth from our boat to the dock as it was to o windy to drop our tender. Thanks Ryan!!
