RESTAURANT - Our “living room style” restaurant and dining room reflect Captain Whidbey’s warm and casual approach to hospitality. As our central multi-use space, the custom and eclectic tables and banquettes at the restaurant at Captain Whidbey are as suitable for an exquisite house-made meal as they are for sketching, writing, watercoloring or sparkling conversation.
The restaurant menu veers towards hyper local, elegant but down-to-earth, and scratch-made. The menu includes inventive shellfish dishes, breakfast boards, local produce from our garden, house-smoked meats, house-cured pickles and salmon, homemade bread, jam and other delicacies.
On the North Side of the restaurant, you’ll find our bustling back deck. With sweeping, sunlit views of Penn Cove and beyond, the waterfront deck is an iconic Whidbey Island destination. Enjoy mussels from Penn Cove or a cocktail from the bar and stay awhile.

the dock is closed for over night moorage. Dockwa never notified me of this change! I see new reservations are not being accepted but dockwa forgot about current reservations! not a good situation
Great place and nice people. Unfortunately they are not very boat or marina savvy. We tied up our 35 LOA just barely on a floating dock that is really designed more for foot and kayak traffic only. No power, no water, no light. More of a dingy tie up spot.
Awesome! They have wood and kindling to build a fire on the bluff. We weren't able to get reservations for the restaurant but there was room at the bar and friendly guests there to visit with. Quiet dock. Coffee in the lobby in the AM.
enjoyed being able to access Captain Whidbey by boat. The service in the restaurant was excellent. Our server Cameron was incredibly knowledgable about the food and beverage options,
The dock seemed fine when the wind was close to calm but I had concerns when the wind picked up. It’s plastic and seems flimsy.Also I was unlucky enough to catch a significant minus tide and was forced to move the boat all the way to the end of the dock for water, my boat draws 3.5 feet. Between the wind and the lack of water I ended up leaving after only one night… disappointed but don’t believe the Inn had any responsibility in that.

Its a gorgeous rustic setting deep in Penn Cove. We were concerned about extreme low tides but were fortunate to secure the slip location to accommodate our NT 40. The restaurant is delicious...make sure to make a reservation. There is also a darling gift/coffee shop with some snacks & sandwiches.
Wonderful, quiet, peaceful moorage with glorious views. Dock a bit rustic but no problem for our 45’ boat. Restaurant has a somewhat limited menu, however, great food. Nice wooded environment with walking trails for our pup.
we tied up a 38' Meridian. Only boat on the dock. The end of the dock is a plastic modular dock and was very stable. The wood float dock from the shore moved around a bit. There is no power or water on the dock. The ramp and steps up to the lodge are a bit primitive, but they work just fine. Did find a garbage can at the lodge. As for the lodge - good food and great setting. Had an awesome sunrise over the bay.
This is a must do! Dock is rustic, no power, but who cares! The grounds are beautiful, awesome food and everyone is so welcoming. I will definitely be back this summer.
Very charming property situated on Penn Cove. We moored overnight in a 40’ powerboat. The outer dock has a nice approach and sets up for great views in all directions. We were the only boat on the dock, which is small and can perhaps accommodate ~120’ of total moorage (max 45’ vessel). Very quiet and comfortable evening. The resort is cute, has great views, and the staff is friendly. Will happily return. Keep in mind, this is not a marina, it is a resort with an older dock. No power or water hook-ups, and the dock itself is a little rickety. We had to spend 15 minutes using our raw water washdown to hose off the thick layer of bird droppings on the dock before we headed ashore. Not a big deal because I knew what I signed up for, and Captain Whidbey still gets five stars because we had a very enjoyable stay for $1/foot, but if you’re looking for a professionally run marina with dock hands and such, this might not be for you.
