A World-Class Marina at World-Class Value. Quiet, serene, and safe, North Point Marina offers the relaxation you expect and the nurturing you need in a natural and lush recreational setting.
The largest marina on the Great Lakes sports a protected floating dock system of 1,500 slips, from 30 to 100 feet midway between Chicago and Milwaukee in Winthrop Harbor, IL. Our signature ‘One Price’ slip rental includes electricity, water, cable TV hookup, Free Wi-Fi, sanitary pump-outs, dock lockers, showers and restrooms, restricted parking and on-site security... all at no extra charge to you.
Slip into North Point…… the most prestigious in-water address on the Great Lakes.
Requested a 50 amp outlet, slip only had 1 30 amp. Office was closed before I got there. Facilities were nice and well kept. Gate code only works on the gate on the pier you are assigned, even though all piers are interconnected. The restaurant was just Okay.
We always enjoy this marina. The local boaters are always so friendly and helpful. The facility is always safe and clean.
The code I given for the gate was incorrect. I was not given a code for the bathrooms. I learned later that I needed a fob to access the laundry near the office, but was not given check-in instructions regarding a fob. When I was finally able to locate a dryer near F-Dock, it only took quarters and there was no change machine. Having recently increased my travel by boat, I have had opportunities to experience different marinas and their facilities and customer service. North Point Marina has been the worst. I only rated 1 star because I wasn't allowed to give none.
Marina failed to inform boaters of the need to stay to one side of the main fairway to avoid grounding. Bathrooms were in decent condition. Plug-in to the electricity was challenging—terminals were dirty and were hard to access. Dock boards have seen better days. The marina is in need of investment. Dock numbers are hard if not impossible to see. Several in our group had to motor around searching for their slip. Our slip was occupied by another boat. Office staff gave wrong information as to which side tie up was on.
Great marina .nice facility. Great customer service.
Had a great time with the folks on B dock! Met several yacht club members.
Daily staff is not that knowledgeable. Almost every question requires a "let me check on that" Problems keeping pump out stations operational. Marina is clean and secure with numerous security cameras. It would be nice to have more webcams - 1 at admin building so if your on the north or east ends of the marina it has limited usefulness.
It's a beautiful large marina, and we enjoyed the slip. The check-in process took a little while for the attendant to understand how to check us in. We trailered our boat and needed an overnight parking pass for our truck and trailer. Another snafu was that the get code supplied by Dockwa didn't work. I had to go back to the registration desk to get a code that did work.
North point is always a top of the line facility. Launch, docks , slips, and fish cleaning stations very well maintained. Fantastic staff and very accommodating.
Huge marina. Not much close within walking distance. We were there Oct 1. The restaurant next to harbor closed at 6:30 on Sunday. Nice quiet place to stop on a trip.
North Point's customer service, docks, bathrooms, showers were all terrific. We had a great time , we will be back soon. Thank you ! Jim & Joanie "Salute"
The stay was great. Easy checkin, boat launch ramp has a lot of lanes. There’s a restaurant on premise with great food for fair prices. It was too cold for the pool (in October) but it’s a nice option for next summer. Everything we needed was available and a lot of extra things.
Very easy to dock. Restaurant near by. On a forest preserve so you can go for walks, rent bikes, as well as swim at their pool. Fun for all ages
Very nice. Someone was parked in our spot but it wasn’t the Marina fault. They found us another spot.
We had an amazing stay, everyone was friendly, facility was great!
It was convenient with the plans I had for my fishing weekend.
Was not aware an electrical adapter was required due to old technology at dock. They did not have an adapter available (guess there is only one for entire marina?!?). No power for our stay. Otherwise marina quiet and amenities ok.
Marina is well maintained in a beautiful state parrk setting
Shower facilities were clean and in good order. WiFi signal was very weak. Thank you for the pleasant stay.
Great overnight stay , thank you for everything. 4 because 5 is for God.
facility was easy to deal with and neighbors were very friendly
Good location and clean facilities. Enjoyed our stay.
Ran aground at harbor entrance. One of the channel markers did not have a night light so we could not see it.
went to take a shower and the shower head just dripped water.
Staff was great. Slip was a bit narrow, and the stray uncovered board sticking out if the pier did not get along with my gel coat. Had fenders out, but it wasn’t enough.
IT was fine left everything in boat had no problems
Very simple and secure setup. Will dock here anytime.
Pier was covered in bird crap and green mold. The pillon separating me from my neighbor was to narrow for the width of my boat… we just cleared it. The gate code didn’t work for our friend boat. The amenities were nice. Lots of open slips but they put us next to somebody.
Very professional. Self pump up docks easy to use. Marina near showers, shops, restaurants.
Dockwa should have let us know that north point does not accomodate a boat over 40 ft with 30 amp service. Adapters are required - luckily we had 1.
Quiet. That is a good point. Empty. We were assigned a slip farthest from the office. Farthest from the pool, farthest from marina restrooms. If you want to impress a prospective slip holder, put us in an accommodating position! Not a dock where algae and weeds are growing through rickety boards! Having to pay to swim in a children’s pool is also not a positive reminder that one wants to return. Sorry, we did not expect world Class value, but a bit of marketing and promotional effort would go a long way. Perhaps your staff could ask questions, provide ideas, etc which would help. They did not. Like the several, dying alewives, either take a new tack or die off in this competitive Marina market.
Huge marina, well run, clean. Bath houses spaced around perimeter so not far from any dock. Lovely walking trails. We needed a ride from the train station, and Manager had his staff take us and pick up, grocery and other stores are in Zion, about 3 miles away. Had no luck getting Uber, but there is a taxi company - 2 cars. Over labor day, there was music and a food truck. One restaurant right there..May be only seasonal. Huge boat yard and storage right there, Skipper Buds.
Unfortunately, because we stayed over on a Monday/Tuesday in mid-Sept, there are no restaurants/businesses open near the marina and no other people staying on their boats. We walked into Linda's Family Restaurant on Tuesday morning and had a great breakfast though. Marina is clean, well-kept and staff are friendly. It's just ver quiet at this time of year.
Beautiful marina! Dock hands met us at the dock to assist with tie up, then went back to the office ( quite a distance away walking!), and brought back the large (22#) bag of ice we needed. Transient slip very close to very nice bathroom/shower facilities. Very reasonable nightly docking fee! Thanks, Illinois!
The dock I stayed on was clean with no boat next to us, other than the boat that shared our tie-up dock. That made docking with no potential to hit another docked boat. The shower and restroom facilities were clean and well maintained. Connecting the power cord to the dock receptacle was very difficult. I recommend you replace these pedestals with ones like all the other marinas on the Lake, especially for your transient slips which require frequent power connecting. The yacht club was outstanding.
It was great! Friendly staff, clean accommodations, clean grounds. Who could ask for more. Did not use pool, looked nice though.
Awesome place... considering a permanent slip there.
Check in was smooth, facilities were clean. Would highly recommend staying here.
Our slip, C-071, was covered with goose poop. Also, the power pedestal was not working. We called marina office and two guys did come out to rectify this power issue.
Nice Marina, great amenities, staff is very helpful!
As I understand management of this marina got taken on by the private company that is doing a great job bringing this place to life. Grounds outside the docs are in impeccable shape, multiple bathroom facilities a clean and well cared for. Big and bright main marina building with brewery offers cozy outside seating with fire places. Decent size pool area. Very quiet, next to a nature preserve offering walking and biking trails but also only 15 minutes walk to the downtown area, that besides shopping, bars and restaurants has a West Marine store. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable, responded quickly to inquiries.
Thank you so much for everything. We appreciate the help and sympathy while escaping Kenosha.
Marina did not answer VHF radio call for docking assistance on published monitoring Channel 16. Called Marina on phone after docking without assistance and they said they heard my radio calls but were having radio issues and did not respond. Marina assigned us incorrect slip with wrong power connection type. Marina staff was rude and unprofessional while rectifying slip assignment issue. Marina slips are full of geese and seagull droppings. Electrical power and water faucets are full of spiders. Docks and dock-boxes spider infested also. Definitely the worst managed marina on Lake Michigan. Even the Westrec Manager-Harbormaster was unpleasant and unprofessional.
very disappointed in the marina and their staff. Staff was very short and combative. Had to move to three different slips. After putting in the instructions that we needed 30 amp service they put us in a 50 amp slip. Had to move to the other side of the marina and they told us the wrong dock so we had to move again. The dock and slip was full of goose poo and green algae. Asked about the pool they told us it was not included in the slip fee and was an additional 5 dollars per person. When questioned about putting us in the wrong slip twice the staff got very combative. If I treated my customers like we were treated here I would not have any customers. Very very disappointed in this marina and the staff. And the mosquitos were terrible.
Very clean , We did have a mix up in slips but all in all service is.great , the atmosphere is good as well the more I come the more it feels like an extension of my home, great job north point staff I am seriously thinking about getting a seasonal slip I love this place it’s a drive but worth it
Great place to enjoy outdoors. Excelente service, good restaurants and very kind staff.
Excellent marina. Clean, spacious, good amenities, friendly people
Dock was clean--restrooms and shower areas were clean--It was a good experience. thank you.
Very clean facility. Friendly staff. Great amenities.
Westrec is doing a great job tackling a back log of deferred maintenance that they inherited from the State of Illinois. Also doing a great job bringing events and activities to the marina since it is indeed a ways out of town.
I was assigned slip AB 23, only problem was a boat was already in it.
Well protected, municipal marina. Nice, modern marina with laundry and clean showers. Well run and nice people. As with most marinas, don't bother with trying to raise them on the VHF.
Nice marina, but needs some maintenance, such as decking replacement, paint on dock gates, & grounds beautification.
We love Northpoint! The docks are great, bathrooms clean, property key up, pool nice, and everyone is friendly. We love that they had planned Venetian Night and had tents and fun things for kids to do. Love it here and we look forward to getting a full-time slip here next year.
OK marina that is absolutely huge and very reasonably priced for transients. Tropics is a nearby restaurant that we really enjoyed. Although the facilities were nice enough, there were a great many items that prevent me from giving a higher rating including: 1) The docks are covered in a slime/mold of some sort and in need of power washing 2) Our shore power cord of the correct amperage physically couldn't fit into the dock box, so a kind neighbor lent us his cord 3) The code we were given didn't work and the marina had to reset the locks after a lot of back and forth with the office 4) Despite being assured that the channel depths were fine for a sailboat, we actually bumped the bottom when leaving the marina after giving way to an incoming power boat (we draw 5'8"), so pay very close attention to the markers as we were fine coming into the marina 5) The marina isn't close to downtown, so you'll have to Uber if you want to explore Generally speaking, this marina has a ton of potential. My two cents is management needs to find a way to get the harbor full (looks to only be 1/3 - 1/2 capacity) and invest some of the increased revenue back into the marina.
you guys are doing a GREAT JOB !!!!!! From the office people to the people cleaning the bathrooms - GREAT JOB !!! Just a fyi ... the rub rail is hanging down near the boat ramps where its reserved for law enforcement and the south sink in the restroom near f dock wont quit dripping. cant wait to come back .. Thanks, Greg
Docks are not clean, covered with dead moss which tracks on the boat.
Bathrooms are clean; docks are nice; the rate is excellent.
The marina is well-maintained. I would have appreciated more information about the facilities. For example, the nearest restrooms were confusing at first due to public access. Additionally, although I had requested assistance with 50-30 amp conversion well ahead of arrival, staff had to "find" the cable and it did not fit anyhow. A nearby boater lent us the correct cable and I returned the wrong one right away. Lastly, knowing the office was so far away would have been helpful. The walk was fine but I would have worn better walking shoes.
This stay was great however you never responded to my last review when I was unable to make my reservation. Does someone read and respond to these reviews> Steve Greif
Very quick and efficient slip assignment process.
Great This a wonderful place Very safe and quite We will return.
Clean bath rooms and very secure. Loved the experience.
This was a great marina, very clean and easy to get around. We had lunch at the tropics, it was also great.
Great Marina, Great people working there! Not a fan of DOCKWA ! This is there new online slip reservation site. They didn't give slip # and code until I asked for it. They put us in the WORST spot possible, they should fill slips by gates first, not as far away from gates as humanly possibly first! Should ask if we have a slip preference in request
No one on the phone could handle a transient slip assignment. I was told "this is a big process". Then, during their big process, I specifically asked for a slip with 50 amp power and was given a slip with 30 amp. Called the marina and again had to wait a half an hour to get reassigned through an email. Most unprofessional experience ever. Could not wait to leave in the morning. Oh by the way the one place to get food is about a half mile away. Pray for good weather if your walking.
