Dutch Harbor Boat Yard was very accommodating to our group (4 boats). However the evening launch driver did everything full speed and there was no regard for wakes or coming too fast along side (we had a very loud bump on our hull).

We had a very enjoyable stay and were especially impressed with all of the Marina and Jamestown information we received BEFORE we arrived. It was very efficient and helpful. We did though agree with other reviewers ‘ comments about the excessive waves from the launch.

Always accommodating! We were heading to a different marina for the day when we received a rejection notice. We quickly "took a right", called Dutch Harbor and were immediately and graciously assigned a mooring for the afternoon - cruise saved! Beyond that, the usual lovely views and calm waters made for an enjoyable afternoon with my siblings and family. Thanks, Dutch Harbor Marina - great spot!

What a fabulous peaceful spot! Our first time at Dutch Harbor moorings ~ what a pleasant experience. The boat launch drivers Jerry & Bob were beyond friendly and helpful and great boat handlers providing easy on and off access. Bathrooms and shower facility clean and easy. A few more hooks and possibly a shelf or small table/shelf unit would make it easier to manage with toiletries and belongings while showering and using the facility.But all was clean which is most important. The sunrise and sunsets were breathtaking at Dutch Harbor. We enjoyed our daily walk down Narragansett Blvd to the Jamestown Harbor side. Music venues, great varitey of shops and delicious eateries from simple to elegant- Talullah's, A Slice of Heaven, East Ferry Deli , to Beech and Our Table.... of course there was delicious ice cream as well! This will definitely be our summer go to for a Sail away from our home marina. Deb & Bob

Always pleasant, we enjoy the location and good launch service. Easy grid scheme to find mooring. HOWEVER, launches travel too fast when in the close vicinity of visiting boats resulting objectionable wakes.

We have stayed at Dutch Harbor several times. It is an excellent place. The people are always friendly and accommodating, the facilities are clean, and the location near the center of Jamestown is very convenient.

One of our favorite locations to stay, beautiful harbor. Very skilled and friendly launch drivers, but it would be nice if the launch drivers could slow down and create less wake in the harbor it can get very unsettled on the boat, difficult to do tasks and cooking.

Excellent facility! Moorings are in good condition and easy to retrieve. Restrooms and showers are clean. Launch is dependable and prompt with friendly captains. Dinghy dock for transients is easily accessible. The marina is well organized - both the scheduling and the facility itself. Would definitely stay here again.

Great location and view. More wake activity on the mooring than expected, maybe due to our particular location and the path of the launch.

I rented a mooring for the day. Please note that check-in is at 1 PM and check-out is at midnight. I arrived at the mooring field around 10:30 AM, and fortunately, the boat occupying the mooring left at 11 AM. I recommend that the marina allow early check-ins for day use. Despite this, the marina staff were very courteous and helpful.

Dutch Harbor has always been a great place for a stop over. It is quiet and tranquil. The marina/launch staff is very professional and courteous. They even met my request to be close to the dinghy dock. I will return.

Dutch Harbor is our go to whether exploring Narragansett Bay or as a stopover going further east or west. It's quiet and laid back... but an east walk to pizza, supermarket, ICE CREAM, and more. It's also a further but easy walk to the busy side of Jamestown, where you can get the ferry to (much busier) Newport. Great staff, reliable launch, good clean showers and heads. Highly recommended. 2024 update: it’s still our go to. They’ve added a modest dinghy dock for transients… important for my canine crew who’s up before the launch start’s running.

Always a great place to come. Just a great peaceful relaxing spot to be. They are so accommodating and everyone is so friendly and nice. Hate to let the secret out on how nice it is! Such a peaceful stay!!!

Let me start by saying, " I love Dutch Harbor", beautiful tranquil atmosphere, lovely sunsets, great swimming area, excellent staff to include your friendly shuttle staff. Now for the down side of Dutch Harbor, unfortunately these reviews fall on deaf ears. I love Dutch Harbor, every 4th of July I spend my vacation here and my reviews of this Marina, since I have been coming are always the same, they should have a designated dinghy area (dock) off the main shuttle dock for the patron's that rent moorings. Currently you have to use the town dock that only allows permitted dinghy's to tie up to the dock, non-permitted only have 30 minutes, and the area is very limited. If you were to walk into town it would take longer than the 30 minutes, so the thought is always on your mind about possibly being ticketed. WIFI or the lack of it, that has not change either, they claim they have WIFI but I was never able to connect, very weak WIFI signal. You figure with the money we charged for the mooring rental if would be nice.

Don't enjoy crowds but want to be close to Newport? This low-key yard on the quiet side of Jamestown might be for you. It's the opposite of the Newport vibe...no throngs of tourists and no jostling with big-time yachts in crowded anchorages. Just a clean, simple, functioning yard that offers proximity without the chaos. Great place to hole up if hurricanes are threatening.

Good prompt launch service. Pleasant and helpful staff. Currents and wind caused our moored boat to come in contact with another moored boat. Very frequent wake waves rocks the boat way too much.

Such a wonderful stay. Jamestown is a great place. We had breakfast sandwiches, coffee and ice cream at the Scuttlebutt snack bar and really enjoyed it. Everyone at TPG was friendly and accommodating. They have clean restrooms & showers at the marina as well. Thanks for a great weekend.

Dutch is one of our favorite places to go. Great staff and showers are nice. We go there every year sometimes twice.

Cold front came through during the evening and it was extremely windy from the North. The marina is totally exposed to miles of fetch from the North, so we were totally exposed to the big wind and large waves . We did not sleep at all, as our boat was pitching and slamming in the waves. Good news: the mooring held and had good chafe gear, So marina did their part. Obviously not the Marina’s fault.

All good except the dinghy-dock situation mentioned by other reviewers. Transients are asked to use the Town Dock, which only allows for 30 minutes of tie-up time. Other Town Dock dinghy spaces require a town permit, which costs over $400.00. It was a time consuming, stressful experience trying get help from marina staff to help with this situation. Other than that, the Harbor itself is very nice

Really nice mooring. Onshore facilities were excellent, including toilet, showers, and laundry. Pump out station easy to access and worked. Great breakfast sandwich in the little hut right in front of facilities. Easy walk to main part of town and outstanding brewery!

We dearly love Dutch Harbor!! It is a quiet, clean very sailboat friendly spot with easy access to Block Island, Newport etc. the management and launch service are second to none. We are in there at least three times a summe!!

Had a great stay over the Memorial Day weekend. The mooring was easy to find and easy to pick up. We like this side of the bay as it is not as rolly as the east side. Meaning fewer wave slaps and better sleeping. This was our second visit and we'll definitely stay again.

This is our home mooring not just because of the gorgeous location. It’s well-run by really knowledgeable staff. Reliable, responsive, and skilled. The off note is Scuttlebutt. Wrong menu: ice cream and some stale pre-packaged sandwiches trucked in. Wrong staff: attendant bizarre and erratic. We’re not alone in missing the oyster shack, or the tacos that preceded it.

A mile or less walk on quiet streets to Jamestown shops, grocery stores and restaurants and great protection from wind and seas from almost all directions are the big positives. The full summer fare with off-season service hours left me feeling like I got less than I paid for. Also, cruisers should know that the town dinghy dock has a 30 minute limit for transients. If you want to dine in town you’ll need to check with the launch about tying off to the marina docks.

$70 for mooring on Labor Day was a rip off. Good launch service and new shower/ building.

Nice place to stay at a mooring. Launch operators nice. Laundry and shower available as well as ice cream! Picnic tables and grill well kept. Clean. Also allowed us to stay amother day because of bad weather! Very accommodating.

Nice quiet place with a short walk to nightlife and great restaurants if you want that sort of thing. Great spot for swimming off the boat. It has a nice outdoor shower as well as clean indoor facilities. The staff is friendly and helpful.

This is a wonderfully protected mooring spot (except for NW winds which we encountered Saturday night :). The facilities are clean and neat and the staff focused on making your stay 5*. The 20-minute walk to Jamestown is easy. We rented bikes on Saturday from Jamestown Outdoors and had a grand ride to visit Beavertail Light House (3 oldest in the US).. Many places to eat, a well-supplied hardware and ice cream all right there.

The launch staff did a great job in heavy winds and seas from the NNW. We had a lovely walk to the Village Hearth for a nice breakfast before shoving off.

Dutch Harbor Boat Yard is the reason to have a boat. Staff excels in service communication. All are so considerate and respond quickly to requests to come in. Harbor itself has a unique quiet beauty that is to be experienced.

Very responsive staff. Quick turnaround of all questions whether by Dockwa messaging or VHF. Mooring was easy to pick up and equipped with two lines for a bridle set up as well as a pennant. We were only in town for an hour but we've been to Jamestown before and it's a great place to walk around and relax.

Easy access to mooring, bathrooms and showers were clean. I didn't use the launch service but they were out and about and very nice staff. There's a dock to tie your dinghy to and it's just a short walk into Jamestown.

Great stay at Dutch Harbor. This is a nice change from the east side of the island. They are all very friendly at Dutch Harbor. The launch is timely and really well run. Marina bathrooms are clean and modern and you are about 1mile from town, 1/2 mile from groceries. Enjoyed our stay here!

Launch drivers are fast and courteous. Staff is tremendously helpful. And one of the most beautiful sunsets!

The staff and launch captains were excellent. However upon returning to our boat that Saturday morning, following a trip to the shore, I found both my both my ignition keyed switches filled with glue (perhaps superglue) and I was unable to even insert my keys. I told the launch driver face to face and she was unaware of any other such problems. I was forced to call Sea Tow and be towed back to East Greenwich Yacht Club with my wife and our two golden retrievers. A waste of nearly 3 hours. Most disappointing. Not to mention spending $70 on two new switches which I had to go to Narragansett West Marine, and install the rest of the day on Saturday......

This is one of our very favorite marinas anywhere. Facilities are clean and well maintained. Staff is friendly and competent. They are responsive to any communication. It is well-located as to be sheltered from most summer storms. A gem of a marina.

Great place. Lots of good things to say. But they should provide campers with a ride to the dock at Fort Getty. It's about 20 yards further than their furthest mooring. It creates an awkward boundary between classes. I was tent camping at Fort Getty and had to swim to my boat whenever I couldn't convince them to give me a ride. Silly.

This was our first visit to Dutch Harbor Boat Yard, and it was a very positive experience. Great launch service, great sheltered morning field. Excellent facilities and a very helpful staff. Also very close to the most convenient approach to a pump out dock that I have seen (self service) although we did not use it. Little apparent traffic on the east side of Dutch Island to cause wakes. Would definitely visit again.

The staff couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. The day we arrived there was a strong, gusty SW wind and the harbor was rough. The staff found a different mooring than the one to which we had been assigned that provided somewhat more protection. Their facilities are clean and very well maintained. My only suggestion would be for the launches to be operated more slowly, particularly at night since they throw a good size wake and can really rock your boat when they pass close by.

The staff was incredible the mooring was well maintained and in a quiet harbor - we were able to see six separate fireworks displays on the fourth without being disturbed by wake or noise. Launch drivers were personable, professional and have excellent recommendations for food and activities in town. Short walk to downtown which was beautiful. No change machine for quarter operated laundry and dryer, so be sure to bring quarters. Otherwise lovely and absolutely return.

Dutch Harbor has THE NICEST launch drivers, an immediate friendly welcome visit, cleanest showers and bath rooms, the best sun sets and seamless payment transactions. We will be back often. Don’t miss the restaurant Simpatico a 15 minute across the island.

We love DHBY - perfect location - amazing staff! Easy to access; simple mooring field to navigate; ample, clean bathrooms; snack shack on grounds; short walk to Jamestown; OUTDOOR SHOWER! If you have a dinghy and want an adventure and love fresh fish, head up to Zeek's Creek - northeast corner of harbor (half tide or better).

Love this marina- more protected than other side of island, friendly staff, launch service, clean bathrooms/showers. Beautiful (hilly) walk to town (20 min) and supermarket (15 min.) Dog friendly. Moorings only.

Great stay! Facilities are clean and maintained. Shuttle service to the dock is prompt and skippers make some funny small talk. Yard Manager Patty went above and beyond to help out with anything we needed. Overall, very happy with our stay.

Leaving the mooring, we snagged our mooring pendant with prop. Repeated diving was unsuccessful - shortly Joe arrived with a workboat to take strain off pendant and enable diver to free us. Great & timely help and service!

Great harbor/mooring field, very professional and welcoming staff, nice clean facilities, easy walk to Jamestown (where we took the ferry over to Newport for the day). Peace and quiet at night. Much better than staying in an urban marina. We will be back next year!

We had a pretty wet, foggy, windy passage from Noank, CT, but it was great to get into the bay and to Dutch Harbor. A harbor of childhood memories. With a forecast not at all what was happening we decided to stay another day and wait for some improvement. It was worth it! The helpful office staff connected with Dockwa and we were all set for this last minute additional day. Clean hawser, superior launch service, nice facilities and a fun harbor to go about in the dinghy. Glad the wind from the northwest was light because Dutch Harbor could be bouncy in a hard NW blow. Other directions should be fine. Friendly folks on our 15 minute walk to the grocery store and grinder place. A package store was just across the street. We put the dinghy on the mooring and took a nice cruise to see Wickford from the water, and then further north to look about Allen Harbor. Wonderful stay! The trip back had the wind at our stern and proved an easy passage.

Fabulous Mooring stay. Everyone is so welcoming. A quick thunderstorm blew through at night and the next morning Joe came by in the launch asking if everything was ok. Best Jamestown Mooring experience e in 40 yrs of boating

A gem of a boatyard. Calm protected waters, beautiful sunset, wonderful shack with delicious oysters, extremely clean bathroom & showers, and very friendly staff. One of our favorite spots. Will be back for sure.

This is a fantastic place to visit with extremely friendly and helpful staff. I had engine issues and they were able to diagnose and solve the problem quickly and with confidence. I cannot recommend Dutch Island Boat Yard enough.

Was nice to have the launch drive come out and check to if we need anything. Especially nice when it was blowing 20kts

Outstanding. We usually stay n the other side of Jamestown and this was our first time here. It was so peaceful- no rocking! The launch folks were super and the walk to town no problem. We will be back!

One of the best stays ever. Unlike a lot of places we have stayed were the mooring fee does not cover other amenities. Dutch includes launch service, bathrooms, showers and ever a cup of coffee if needed. We will definitely return.

Beautiful harbor, a short walk (or bike ride) to restaurants and the market. Staff was helpful and friendly. Launch drivers could try and throw less of a wake.

After radioing in, we were met by the skiff at the beginning of the mooring field and led right to our mooring. We were given a fact sheet with all the info we'd need by the attendant. We had our own dinghy so we didn't use the launch service but there is a dinghy dock available and it's a quick walk into town.

Very nice. Launch driver came out and showed us our mooring. WiFi was unable to reach the mooring. We tried repeatedly but were unsuccessful at using it, and called the office as well, who did not have any solutions or advice, but said it was working in the office.

To fonsecascott: I met friends on their boat there, took launch which was constantly on the move. You even complain about the wind blowing all day as if they control it. If your whining that you couldn't find your mooring, you don't belong having a boat in your bathtub. The staff there was the most friendlies and accommodating I've met. God created that location and weather, not the staff. If that's your complaint you couldn't find your mooring after asking 5 or 6 times, you obviously can't follow directions. Stay home.

Great stay but not as protected as I would have liked. Etc wind blew all day and night - also difficult to find mooring ball on your own. Most places show you by tender where it is. They did this after I radio’d 5-6 times and couldn’t find it

10/10. Comfortable and super clean onshore facilities without feeling like a large corporate marina. Launch service is stellar. Subject to some bouncing from chop if the breeze is up, but moorings are in great shape.

I have stayed at Dutch Harbor many times. They are always professional and accommodating to my needs. They are my first choice when staying at the mouth of Narragansett Bay.

I love staying at Dutch Harbor! This was a perfect weekend. Friendly staff, nice showers, quiet mooring. I like that it is away from town and enjoy the walk.

I should say horrible to keep the crowds down, but truthfully, relaxing, easy walk to town, groceries, places to see. Friendly, helpful staff at all levels. A favorite place to sail to.

A beautiful, quiet spot to spend a night. We got easy directions to our mooring and the launch driver gave us the scoop on wi-fi, schedule and local sites. All good!

Very friendly staff here. Launch service is quick and reliable. Clean restrooms and showers. Picnic area is concrete slab with grills available. If you need ice, request from the launch. There is no dinghy dock. A bit of a hike to any restaurants and shops. If traveling with other boats don’t assume you will be near each other. It’s a big mooring field and our group of 4 boats were not anywhere close by. Mooring numbering system is confusing.

Great launch and marina service. Beautiful setting. Taqueria ("the shack") was awesome. Just a little roll. We did get the mooring ball the farthest out ("D10"). I think if we were tucked in a little more, we'd be out of the current, in the "no wake" zone, and it would be 5 stars.

Showers and bathroom facilities are excellent, the harbor is fairly well protected, launch service is great and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. Also, it’s just about a mile walk to Jamestown. Perfect spot to stop!

Great place to catch a mooring both for over-nights as well as for short stays. They have a launch and also a nice Dingy dock. Check with the launch driver when they close out for the day, especially if you go to a place to eat in Jamestown things can take longer than expected. Somebody mentioned that the Dingy dock has limited tie up times. That is only true for the town-dock. The marina itself have their own Dingy dock which does not have any time limits (it's a bit hidden away just below their little hut on the dock).

Very nice Harbor. Boat Yard and accomodations are well maintained and staff was nice. Only issue was the Self Pump Out that is tricky to use and staff couldn't help with directions. Luckily we got some assistance from other boaters on how to get the pump out to work. Would be nice if staff could give directions and assistance on the procedure.

Great evening at a very nice, low key marina. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean facilities. Limited services available and no fuel..but we'll definitely be back.

Quiet harbor, reliable launch service

Great mooring - easy quick launch service.

DHBY is easily accessible from the West Passage of Narragansett Bay, the launch service is timely, good restaurants are a short walk away. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The facilities are clean. Easy water taxi to Newport from the other side of Jamestown. Stayed there four nights. Highly recommended.

Calm cove, great staff and short walk into town. One mooring was a little close to us but remained unoccupied. Clean bathrooms. Will return again.

Dutch Harbor is one of our favorite get-aways. The staff, launch drivers and owners are unfailingly courteous, moorings are well maintained and the sunsets simply can't be beat!

Quiet cozy harbor Easy walk less than a mile into town with great restaurants

This is a nice quiet and calm harbor with beautiful sunsets. The staff at DHBY are very professional and accommodating. Launch service was fast. The bathrooms and showers, two each, are new and clean. There is also an outdoor enclosed shower that is very refreshing. Best of all is Tallulah's Tacos at The Shack for when we didn't feel like walking to the restaurants.

The new owners are doing a great job. They've built a new marina office, complete with showers and laundry facilities. The launch is courteous and prompt. And of course the location is amazing.
