The Port Jefferson Yacht Club offers temporary guest memberships including use of guest slips, and moorings ranging from 300 to 600 lbs, which are available for overnight cruisers. Fee includes launch service to and from our docks on the southeastern shore of the harbor, free WiFi at the slips as well as the use of our facilities. Port Jefferson Village is just a short walk from our docks. During July and August, launch service starts at 8 AM, 7 days per week and runs till 11 PM weekdays and midnight Friday through Sunday. See our website for posted launch schedule with specific hours of operation for other times.. The Club's main 'West' dock and shorter 'East' dock have power and fresh water, where overnight mooring guests may tie up to clean or provision their vessels during off-peak hours. As dock space is limited, we must limit the time at the dock to 20 minutes unless you have a reservation. Our clubhouse offers shower facilities, and a canopied deck with a fabulous view of Port Jefferson Harbor. Block and cube ice are available from our courteous launch staff.
Great spot… Wi-Fi was iffy and should be improved but overall excellent! Can be pretty rough at times due to Ferry wakes.
Very helpful dock master. Great stay
Port Jefferson Yacht Club not only confirmed the reservation request quickly, but also followed up immediately with a mooring assignment. The launch operator Joe Gatz played a key roll in saving our wayward dingy; going above and beyond to ensure our happy reunion with her.
As usual, excellent. Well run professional service, it's our go to.
We love using the moorings at the PJYC. It’s easy to walk to town. The moorings are also close to their dinghy dock if you bring your dinghy, if not they do have launch service..
Easy in an out. They were very responsive to all our prior contact and when we were actually on site. Will return.
Small marina, mostly intended for transient boats requiring mooring. The are some slip for boats, docked at the main deck. Recently redone and looks much much better. Very helpful staff, and very nice/friendly commodore. Convenient to the down town PJ shops / restaurants, and friend club members. We recently stayed in their mooring and it was quite nice. If you are going to be in Port J, highly recommend that to give them a try.
Where to start? We are a sailboat and there were 18kts of wind at the dock. This was our first time in Port Jefferson. One of the dockhands who did help yelled at us (and the other sailboats who docked) to the extent that his partner actually apologized. Because Of the wind we went bow in, which started another set of problems. For $5 a foot I would have expected power and water at least on our side of the dock. Instead we had to stretch our power cord across the dock, with resulting problems keeping it flat on the dock and plugged in. The heads and showers are in the yacht club building, which is fine, except that it is outside the gates, which are locked at midnight til 8 am. They also shoehorned a very nice, beamy power yacht next to us. The captain did a masterful job getting her in without hitting us, but there were empty slips elsewhere. The location is good, but i would use a mooring ball next time.
Excellent service. Very accommodating. Fast launch pickups for us and our DOG BYRON. FABULOUS
Nice town, solid moorings. The PJYC moorings are relatively close to shore (a good thing) and there are more moorings than those belonging to PJYC, a lot more. This gives for a crowded mooring field, which on a quiet night is not an issue at all, where it not for a 48ft Sundancer that felt the need to leave its generator on 24hrs. I consider this rude. I don't know if there were any 'rules' around it or how they could be enforced. Hence the 4 star.
We love port Jeff! First thing we like is being able to reserve a mooring, which includes free launch. Second is its easy to get in and out of the channel. Third is everything is walking distance!
The Club was very nice and accommodating. Our club cruise group had 13 sailboats on our 2 week summer cruise. We enjoyed hor's doevres we brought on the club deck,. What a view!. There were many restaurants in town, We enjoyed the ice cream at "Lics?".We would like to visit again . Thank you PJYC. Crescent Cruising/Niantic Bay Yacht Club, Niantic, CT.
Hidden gem, nice and quite… now if we can get the water taxi to slow down to 20mph… that would be great. No issues at all.
Good moorings, nothing fantastic about the town. Don't think I would drop in again. Hadn't been there before.
Wayne was super accommodating, came in last minute, 100 degree with my dog on the boat, got us a slip so we could have power. Sweet relief
Great mooring and launch service. Bathroom / showers need cleaning!
We stayed here a couple of years ago and had a terrible experience. After we wrote a tough but honest review, we were contacted by the Commodore who was very nice and solicitous. Because of that outreach, we decided to try again. 1) The Club has undergone some nice renovations and added slips at the dock. Then showers were much improved but not cleaned very well. 2) The highlight of our stay was a visit to the bar on Friday evening. It was staffed by volunteer members who were friendly, generous and provided above expectations service. We has a nice time there and enjoyed ourselves. 3) The launch driver on Friday evening was incompetent and unfriendly. When we called for pick-up he forgot us and had to be re-called. Each time he took us back to our boat he could not find us by the mooring number and we had to direct him to our boat. He drove the launch fast and uncomfortably aggressively. He had a bad attitude and was rude to us. He closed at 11:30 despite the website saying it ran until midnight. The morning was not better. We started calling the launch at 8:00, the announced start time. Others were also calling, all with no response. At 8:15, I called the dock house number, which picked up. The launch driver answered and said they were "setting up." When I commented that it was 8:15 and they were supposed to start at 8:00, he repeated gruffly that they were setting up and hung up. When we were picked up, he was unfriendly to the point of rudeness. When I asked him to back the launch up to match our lifeline gate, he did so without looking where he was going. I had to tell him when to stop backing. (I consider this a serious safety violation.) On our return trip, he also did not know mooring locations by their numbers, and we had to direct him to our boat. The location of the club and its moorings is perfect. But the launch service was by far the worst we experienced in our trip from New Jersey to Block Island and back. Once more, we won't be staying again.
A wonderful experience with a bonus of dockmaster and son being so helpful and courteous. A quiet experience being minutes from the downtown hustle and bustle
Nice place , nice people running the club , new dock slips and a much better value at 3 bucks less a foot than Danfords
Very nice. Sat evening launch driver could use some people skills but other than that a nice stay
Nice sheltered mooring, close to everything and great launch drivers!
It was awesome. Perfect location, private, perfect weekend getaway!!!
Clean, quiet and just a perfect weekend getaway!
Wifi needs improvement. It is useless. New slips must be nice for members, enjoy. Still do not like the wires on the pickups..
We moored here for two nights on our way to Sag Harbor. Mooring was convenient to fuel at Danfords and location was very calm despite the port Jefferson ferry that frequently went back-and-forth to Connecticut. Launch service is part of the mooring fee and is very convenient to get into town. Several good restaurants in town and lots of ice cream shops! A nice little park next to the yacht club that had live bands most nights we were there, but other than that not much going on in the town.
Great town and great vibefor a Wednesdaynight. Plenty to do and see
Perfect great service
Excellent dock hands. Clean facilities,Love the the new finger slips
Very pleasant stay. Easy walk to stores & restaurants. Waterfront park with concerts & other activities next to PJYC
Friendly, WiFi didn’t reach moorings.
Mooring was easy to find and pick up. Great launch service and very clean.
Nice mooring field close to the Club Excellent launch service Club was late to open and bar is limited
Launch driver was very personable.
Small but pleasant marina. We enjoyed our stay
PJYC is a nice place to visit. The moorings are close to the launch dock and the launch drivers are very courteous. Just a short walk into Port Jeff and a myriad of nice spots to eat. We enjoy Z Pita. Good food and reasonable $$ Port Bistro was also very enjoyable.
Great stay! Highly recommend. Great staff! Easy approach & docking.
First time mooring at PJYC or anywhere for that matter. Absolutely delighted. The launch guys were responsive and friendly and the town was full of everything you could want. Will be visiting often from Bridgeport.
Very nice with launch service until midnight. Bar was open and very reasonable. Fabulous views and a short walk to town.
Love Port Jeff and PJYC. Convenient and friendly staff.
Wonderful and welcoming base for exploring the town, its architecture, food, drink, and gift shops.
Helpful, clean, quiet beautiful views, easy access to dock
Quite stay, on our private dock, very helpful staff on hand with great restaurants recommendations, enjoyed strolling the town of Port Jeff.
Great location to visit. Everyone should check this out.
Friendly, informative launch service (they'll be glad to tip you to good restaurants) and the bathrooms were spotless. The ice was both block and cubes (Blocks getting harder to find) And there was water on the docks. Yes I will return.
Great spot and great staff that knows how to take care of their customers. Great time.
Great stay, always friendly. The new slips expand their facilities. Love the beach next to yacht club to walk / swim our dog.
Nice folks, close to town, new docks & free electric. What more do you want?
Great stop, lots of restaurant options, easy access to the fuel dock. The yacht club is small and everyone we meet was very nice. I would definitely stop there again.
Very friendly launch drivers Wayne and Joe.
Great location in Port Jefferson, near town and restaurants. Waterfront staff were friendly and helpful.
Very protected. Booked late afternoon for a night time arrival. Wifi worked. Didn't go to shore...
Dock plugs were pretty loose. Slight rocking from passing boats, but nothing to really complain about. Helpful dock hand. Generally well protected. We'll be back
Very nice staff, easy walk to town, reasonable docking rates!
very nice staff--prompt launch service. Steps from town
Safe, warm, friendly- a perfect place to tuck in as you sail Long Island Sound
Cute town. Quiet mooring even in high wind. Staff a bit testy, nor were they aware of the mooring assignment provided by Dockwa and approved by PJYC. We were greeted by "Yeah, what do you want" on channel 71 when announcing our arrival, they also wanted to know why we were on the mooring assigned via email ("that will probably be ok")and were not aware we had reserved and paid for two nights, not one. I know businesses have had to deal with staffing shortages as of late, which I understand and appreciate, however, the nature of this customer service did not seem to be due to that.
Great stay. Luke that the Moorings are far away from ferry traffic. Launch driver was very nice and helpful. We prefer yacht clubs because money helps youngsters learn to sail.
Wonderful time, great facilities, so much to do, live music playing everywhere!
Highly recommend!! Excellent location and launch service.. Will definitely be back soon ..
We arrived late and left early so we didn’t get to sample any of the amenities in Port Jefferson. From what I could hear on Channel 68, the launch service was busy, responsive and very helpful. Coming into the port, we got excellent instructions from the club as to how to find our mooring. The town looked fascinating so if the opportunity presents itself, we’ll stop here again - and stay long enough to enjoy it.
Very convenient to town, great launch service.
Safe. Secure. Friendly and convenient launch. Get a drink at the club house!
Best move for us great dock, nice people will be back next year. Spent 2 days no issues easy in and out. Mike and the dockmaster were awesome.
Super hospitable! Great friendly people!
Due to a hurricane coming up the coast, we needed to change our travel plans. Floating docks were laid out to have the fixed pilings outside of the dock causing us to lay up on the pilings contacting our rub rails (Defeating the purpose of a floating dock). They did have rub bumpers installed on the inside to protect their floating dock but nothing on the outside to protect the boats. The marina had a bar to offset this but only if you had a railing to to it to which we did not have on the stern. Suggestion would be to install rub bumpers on the pilings to protect the boats the boats. Dock staff was average in boating knowledge and really did not want our input on how we wanted to tie up. If we travel to that area again, we would look for other options.
They have changed the pendant line on the mooring to stainless wire? Warning very sharp hard to hold on to .! Very unnerving as the sound of the wire scratches your boat .
Nice great moorings and fast and frequent launch service
Mooring in great condition, friendly launch operator, nice town good value
Great overnight stay next to Danfords. Calm, small marina. Walk into town- many locals stores and restaurants in walking distance. We will be staying here again. Great, friendly deck hands to assist docking. Thanks!
easy use of dockwa since they sent us the mooring #. good launch service in terrible rainy weather. problem was with wifi. there is a network and password but the network was not accessible at our mooring and they seemed to have no idea why and could not fix it.
Facilities could use an upgrade.
Friendly launch operators, great town for exploring, dining, & drinking
Great location great launch service. Thank you!
Who needs Danford's All they care about is taking your money PJ YC Great place, great people and close to town!!
The Yacht Club was clean . The Launch Drivers were prompt and knowledgeable. We went to the restaurant that they recommended, and we were very pleased.
We loved it, it was clean , the dock hands were professional and friendly. Next time we hope to stay for several days. And we really liked the town . The giant candy / ice cream store has Vegan Ice Cream @ Roger Frigate”
The Staff at PYYC were great. They were at the dock and ready to assist when we pulled up! Very helpful. See you soon-
We really appreciated the staff. They were really accommodating and friendly. It’s a nice quiet spot and we will visit again soon!
The best crew !! Great place to visit !!
Very calm this stay, tenders came immediately
Great launch service, nice and clean bathrooms and showers with air conditioning, well-protected mooring, easy access to the city, very friendly and inviting yacht club members. We were concerned about our mooring holding our 20 ton boat during Tropical Storm Elsa, but we managed fine. Thank you very much!
Great place to visit, we stayed five nights, Yacht club/water taxi folks are very helpful. The bathroom /shower was clean, but tile floor is slippery. Need to add more hangers 7chair so you can sit and change. I will look forward to returning.
Bathroom at the dock was closed, had to walk to the main club house and get a Code from a member, everything else was pretty good
Always a pleasure in such a sweet town! Michael, George, Wayne all nice! Lots of fun!
We came in to port Jeff and wanted to grab lunch and walk around for a few hours. The other marina was charging $2 per foot per hour. PJYC was only $30 for 3 hours. Upon arrival I radioed in and they told me where I could hook up. Once on the ball I radioed ion and it took about 10 minutes for them to come get me, but they seemed pretty busy so it wasn't a big deal. Friendly service, would definitely return!
We were assigned mooring number C4 but it was occupied. We were then assigned D4 and when tying up one of the cleat lines was tangled up forcing us to get on our paddle board to disentangle ourselves. A storm was coming and we wanted both cleat lines secure. The launch service is excellent and timely. Nice private area to moor your boat.
Port Jefferson Yacht club never disappoints. Great staff, gorgeous harbor and plenty of places to check out.
Very helpful, nice launch, lots of action in town
Great Stay, wonderful staff and launch drivers. Always a pleasure to stay here
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. AJ was a great facilitator. The launch operators were prompt, courteous, and engaging. The YC is in a perfect location close to downtown PJ and it’s shops and restaurants. We definitely recommend and will be back. Word of caution: make sure to pick up the mooring wand. Ours was tangled in one of the pendants and we did not take the time on arrival to untangle it. In the course of an overnight and swinging around the mooring, one pendant got trapped beneath the ball, capturing the wand further, which then etched our bow. We finally got it untangled and pulled the wand aboard.
Great people. Showers clean. Easy entrance/exit to harbor. Nice town with restaurants and fishing supplies.
Great stay, great location, very helpful.
Pleasant stay and friendly launch driver. Always enjoy the ferries arriving and departing.
Very nice mooring to stay in Port Jefferson
Always great...always friendly. A fast walk into town.
We stayed at Port Jeff Yacht Club on our way out to and back from Block Island. Both stays were great. Even though we arrived late and tired, the dock master was very pleasant, gave us directions and came out with the launch to meet us to show us to our mooring. The launch service is included in the mooring price and runs to 12:30am (please confirm). I got sorely-needed ice from the dock master despite the late hour. The shower facilities were excellent and very clean and it is just a short 5 minute walk to downtown Port Jeff shops and restaurants. The yacht club does not have fuel, but is right next to the only fuel dock in the port. We are planning a trip to Port Jeff next year based on this great experience. 2020. It took more than a year but my son and I made the trip and had another great experience at PJYC
Very accommodating and well run service - very nice late hour service so late in the season.
Great stay! Very easy to book and pay, and you're assigned a mooring with confirmation. The only thing negative I would say is that the launch drives so fast by your boat, it creates huge rocking.
Very clean, launch is amazing! Great stay!!
Great location! Launch operators were nice. Showers had plenty of hot water. Wish the bar had been open but we understand with Covid.
Great weekend ! Gracious service
Great help during a rough weather day. Only negative was the spotty wifi. Will be back.
Always a great experience staying at PJYC. Launch is very timing and steps to downtown activities.
Not enough time to check the facilities.
Always enjoy staying at PJYC. Very friendly staff. Although they have the most expensive ice in the sound (even more than Block Island. $10 for 2 5lb bags.
Sent a mooring assignment but it was occupied on arrival. Another assigned after launch came out .
Just great people, a beautiful harbor, and a quaint town. Could not have been easier or better.
Great mooring. Great launch driver. Couldn’t get in to use bathrooms after 6 pm. WiFi didn’t work
We stayed on a PJYC mooring for 3 days - it was super convenient and every staff member was friendly, and helpful. Would stay again!
Very friendly place to stop
Nice town. Nice club. Mooring bridles pretty dirty this time of year.
Great stay, Great club and people. Guest Restrooms are in need of an update...
The dockmaster was very accommodating, helping with our lines on the dock and with our reservation from a waitlist. The club is a fantastic location near all the action and the water was swimmable off the back of the boat. The shoreside facilities were restricted due to COVID but the bathrooms were clean and air conditoned. Plus the launch hours were generously late for lingering in town.
Excellent launch service and walk to town location
Jessica was fantastic launch Captain
Assigned me to east side dock and no attendant to assist docking. Also had voltage issues with 30 AMP shore power. Voltage at 100V for a few hours which wreaked havoc with my AC. Two fuses blown. Price is great and staff friendly .
Comfortable mooring, easy dock access with friendly tender service. We enjoy the town when we are there. There is a great donut shop (East main and main) a couple of blocks from the marina.
Everyone involved was super helpful and friendly. A big storm rolled through and they called me when I was off the boat to check in
Very loud with power plant, gravel barges, ferry every hour until 10pm and hotel partying. Yacht club facilities old and unkempt. Launch service nice. Good for couple of days.
Nice mooring very close to town
I got a quick response via Ch. 68 when I came into the harbor that I could pick up any of their open mooring balls. The launch service was responsive and stayed open till 11 pm. The wi-fi was inoperable on the water but I expected that. I'm not sure if I had access to the club house for drinks. we didn't use their bathrooms. The PJ town moorings are $10 cheaper and the walk into town is about the same.
The facility is fair. The plus though is that you are VERY conveniently located to the heart of Pt. Jeff. The folks at PYC are very friendly and helpful. Plus, you're away from the ferry traffic and the hustle and busle of Danford's. I would definitely stay there again.
Club was closed, but easy walk to town and there was a code for the one shower. Launch has to cover a really long mooring field so there's a wait. Lots of noise from nearby harbor, ferry terminal, and power plant with barges offloading.
Absolutely wonderful. Friendly Staff. Very accommodating.
Convenient. Pleasant dock staff. Short walk to town. Lots to do here
Yacht Club restrooms could have been cleaner. A great stay otherwise.
Always a pleasure, great service and location.
Super nice people and less expensive transient slip than other option. Only down side is they lock the gates at 12pm and you can’t get in and out after that time
Responsive crew, easy launch ride to town. Quiet mooring field.
Clean.polite and courteous staff
This is always an awesome harbor to visit. Plenty of great restaurants and shops. Dog friendly town with a great beach and park to walk. The launch drivers are always extremely pleasant and accommodating. Don't always expect the Yacht Club's bar to be open, but rest assure there are plenty of watering holes within easy walking distance. We were fortunate enough to have the pleasure of stepping up to the Port Jeff YC bar and meeting a Past Commodore who is trying to have the bar opened for reciprocating yacht club visitors. He made some great Dark & Stormys. Many cruisers comment on the showers being outdated; while this is true the facilities are very functional, clean and a welcome amenity. Ice is always available. This is always a fun Port-of-Call for our us and those cruising with us.
Great harbor with excellent mornings. Staff and launch service are great!
Mooring ball assigned was very close to a dock and a large cluster of pilings. With storms throughout the night, we were not certain the mooring was strong enough to hold a boat our size and we had very little swing room as it did not seem they were set up for larger boats. Launch service was great and very prompt, but would look for a more comfortable docking or mooring situation on any future visit to Port Jefferson.
Nice club. One block to town. Great park nearby. And Joe, the bartender, was so nice to talk to
Great safe harbor, nice moorings and staff. The nearby power plant produced a loud humming noise all evening.
Had a great time. Used a mooring. Shuttle made it convenient to go to town.
Great launch was always prompted
This is a great place to stay close to town but far enough away that it’s quite at night : jessica the dock master is the best
Courteous launch service Well positioned geographically Showers & restroom just ok
A great spot! Staff is very friendly and helpful. Quick walk into town and a short dinghy ride to a small beach (wear beach shoes North shore beaches are rocky). We will definitely come back.
Pretty Harbor. Launch service was awesome!!
Simple and easy. Launch service good and on point. The Town (including - the now reopened Billies 1890 - was great.
Nice mooring, friendly shore service, great people!
Great location and very accommodating. Launch service is great. We visited during the Dragon Boat Festival which is a great event. We had 14 boats visiting and absolutely paced ourselves out to not arrive at once. Still they were overwhelmed and some mooring assignments took nearly an hour, even though they were open and available.
Great harbor and town! Very nice people.
very nice enjoyed our visit friendly place everything you would need is there
Very pleasant as usual.
All good except bathroom facilities need work.
We truly enjoy PJYC. The launch captains are wonderful and it’s an easy walk to town.
Great facilities. Awesome staff. Will be back
The location and launch service was great. BUT their WiFi was not working at all which was our reason for a mooring rather than free anchoring. We were close in and have a strong booster. The launch driver said it seldom works. Misrepresentation!
The web based reservation system worked perfectly! The Yacht Club was terrific. So helpful and friendly, and most important Dockwa was absolutely realable in every way. I will use them every time.
Great Friendly, perfect Location
We stay at Port Jeff at least a couple times every summer. The Club is a wonderful host.
Awesome service, friendly & very accommodating!!! Vessel name ( On Point) saids it all for Port Jeff stays! Thanks again Captain 👩✈️ Carter
Very easy to get in and out of. Launch service was very prompt. Great port for a night or two to visit. Lots of places to go to eat and drink in walking distance.
Good location, extremely gracious and friendly staff and members. Excellent location, close to downtown. Would get more stars but clubhouse amenities are basic, bathhouse facilities dated. Still, well worth the visit.
This is the second time we've stayed at Port Jeff Yacht Club, and we've found the staff to be friendly and helpful both times. The launch is reliable and the hours are great. Looking forward to visiting again next year!
Terrific Friendly, accomadating, beautiful place Thank you!!!
Awesome staff. Very welcoming and friendly. Great launch service. Moorings well maintained. Very clean showers too. Port Jeff is a fun town with lots to do and a beautiful waterfront.
Staff very accomodative and nice too. Good facilities, but clubhouse is rather out of the way so I never went there.
They could not produce ICE for us. And pickup service is a hit or miss, quick if you are the only one but 1h if you are not. Only one boat servicing, two others on the dock.
The marina staff are very courteous and helpful . It was a very pleasant stay.
Very nice spot. Launch driver was prompt and polite
Very friendly staff. Fast launch service, clean restrooms & showers, and close to town.
Nice anchorage. Friendly and prompt launch service.
friendly and on the ball
Great stay. Basic moorings are very close to the marina and dock. No fuel here, but available nearby. Launch staff is very accommodating and the launch runs at reasonable hours to support food and resupply ashore. Pump out barge near entrance to harbor is tricky to use if you've never done it yourself- but it works well. Wake chop slows down in the evening.
