This my 4th year mooring at Jacks. All good!!

Nice location, very quiet! We were on a mooring and the dinghy dock is easy to get to. Friendly boaters.

Once I was settled on the mooring, all was good. The mooring itself had a very short line and it was a real struggle to secure my 37’ trawler. At the same time a sailboat with a much lower bow rise got a mooring with a much longer line. I think they should have a better knowledge of their moorings and assign them by boat profiles.

First time with my 29 foot powerboat . John and Tom were both great. Had a little trouble finding the mooring since mixed with the neighbor marina next door. Tom came out right away and got me to my mooring. The only hickup was that the mooring was quite short. John stepped in and corrected the situation. I had another problem which was due to my lack of knowledge of my own boat but John offered immediate help and care even after hours. GREAT Staff. Absolutely lovely. The man working the front desk was so extremely kind and helpful. Come here for incredible sunsets and a cute small, small town. Ps. The mooring was easy to find- we just called a few hours before arriving and asked for directions, as one entering a new harbor should.

Nice spot in beautiful Dering Harbor. Heads up, Jack’s closes at 4. No way to get in touch with them after that. We had to hunt for our mooring. We found the mooring assignment on Dockwa and finally found J60 with our dinghy. If this happens to you it is an orange mooring in front of the private dock on the south side of the harbor. Jack’s… you should be more proactive for check ins after 4.

At Jack’s you get a mooring and a nearly new, nearly empty dinghy dock. No amenities… it is what it is. They came out in their boat when I couldn’t find my mooring… which was a short row to the dock. There’s a nice pocket park next door where you can tap into Jack’s wi-fi. Dering harbor is a delight… a nice high end specialty market right there. Liquor store, too. Walk to coffee/bagels is about a mile, as is the supermarket, but it’s part of the Shelter Island experience.

Great location and good services. Mooring field is tight for a boat our size. Difficult to locate our assigned mooring. Staff did come out to assist.

Beautiful harbor and Jack`s Moorings are right at the end of the harbor near the shore which has great, easy access to the town dinghy dock... to find the J mooring go all the way down to the gas station and make a left follow the mooring balls it goes j1, j2, j3, 4, 5 etc... Shelter Island is beautiful.... Jack`s has stuff for boats if you need something.

We alway love coming to Dering Harbor it is calm peaceful and quiet. It was just a little difficult to find our mooring. Always love going to Dering Harbor and Shelter Island, great restaurants too!

Still waiting for a reply to messages I sent prior to my date of arrival, was not able to make the trip due to work and requested to move reservation to alternative date. Followed up twice and still no reply… I am hopeful I am not charged for the entire stay due to their lack of responsiveness.

The staff at Jacks Marine are the best. Noah and Johnny go out of their way to provide excellent customer service. Need tender service to bring all your goodies to your boat? They have it covered. Have a problem with your boat, they know the right people to put you in touch with.

Jack’s contracted with Dockwa to install my mooring in the spring and winterize this fall. I was billed for both in April. They are now out of that business and have subcontracted the removal. I requested a Refund and was told there will be no refunds. Don’t need this hassle!

Not a marine store anymore. I miss the expertise.

Great spot! We enjoyed it! Jacks marine store was so helpful! Green port was a dinghy ride away! The restaurant Salt was excellent and the Shipwreck was a great outside bar with music! Definitely would come back!!

It is a lovely spot but nearly impossible to find your mooring. Each mooring has several numbers, and they are difficult to see. Some type of flag or other means of marking Jack's moorings among the multitude of others would help.

Great location. Great mooring. But, getting directions to the mooring was very unorganized.

Very easy, island is relaxed atmosphere

We love staying at Jack’s Marina. Service is great, moorings are very well kept, we slept at 40 knots gust without worrying. Town dock is very close by. Jack’s store has great supplies for the water sports and the boat. Definitely would come back every summer.

We went in knowing that there are no services at the docks with the exception of water, so we were extremely happy with our experience. There is no electricity, no restrooms or shower. But what they do have is a gorgeous view in a very quiet corner of the harbor. We brought our bikes and enjoyed riding around the island.

Nice harbor. Ferry to Greenport and a nice fuel dock were highlights.

The moorings were great , Ryan, Noah and Steve were very helpful and pleasant. Just wish they had shower, bathroom and blocks of ice. However we are eager to return. Thanks for your service

Such a lovely spot! Quiet harbor with gorgeous sunrise and sunset views. Jacks were responsive and helpful with all of our questions. Moorings are a bit difficult to find as they’re interspersed with Shelter Island moorings but you can certainly find if you motor around and follow the map they’ll text you. Dinghy dock is with others, just look for the large US flag on the wall and it’s the two floating docks right in front. They offer their marine store toilet (8am-6pm) or there is a modern Portland loo (did not know this was a thing) right next door open to the public. No showers or other amenities. Very dog friendly area. East walk to the ferry to spend the day over at Greenport or just wander the (very) small town nearby.

Easy to navigate and relaxing weekend!

Quiet little harbor, many years ago we would anchor but they have filled it up with mornings. It does rock a bit with the boats going by between Shelter and Greenport. Supplies close by and lots of options for restaurants. Jacks has no facilities.

Only issue was boat traffic waves with boats going by Greenport ,luckily calmed down at night for great sleep. It would be great if authorities had a no wake zone requirement for boats passing Dering Harbor

Such a beautiful quiet harbor. Easy access to SI and Greenport. Most gorgeous sunset around. Mike is helpful friendly and patient. Highly recommend.

We received a text with a picture of a hand drawn map showing the location of our mooring. It was not to scale and difficult to follow. All of the moorings had 2 sets of numbers on them. Took quite a while to finally find our mooring. (Saw others having trouble too) No heads or showers. Otherwise it was fine.

Big fans of Jack’s and Dering Harbor. Convenient new dinghy dock in town. Fabulous little well stocked grocery with great prepared food and pastry, liquor store, fuel dock, hardware store with marine supplies. Beautiful, protected and mostly very quiet. And reasonably priced, too
