Great facility with courteous and friendly staff that will promptly help you with anything you need, from docking assistance, to pumpout at your slip, to launch service to the mooring field or across the main channel to downtown New Bedford. Pope’s Island is an active boating community, with very friendly and helpful boat owners. This is a secure, gated marina with well maintained grounds including a spacious picnic area with grilles. They have laundry, ice, vending machines, and a lending library. Restrooms and showers are always clean. Marine supply right across the street, and outstanding seafood within walking distance. Historic Fort Taber Park with a beach, and picnic area is about a mile and a quarter away, and sits at the harbor entrance and the Hurricane Barrier. A bike trail nearby takes you to Mattapoisett, Marion and beyond.
Marina has deteriorated since our stay 2.5 years ago. Bathroom and shower facilities are mediocre at best and need housekeeping.
Nice spot. Quiet and peaceful. Fixed docks were a little difficult for getting off and on. Lincoln the GM was awesome with communications and tying us up. Nice clean showers and restrooms. Recommended.
Dock hand didn’t respond to radio hailing on CH 9; reached finally by cellphone. Dockhand not available to assist in docking. Dockhand was unaware of our Dockwa reservation until he made a call. One restroom out of order; no toilet paper in second bathroom. Bathrooms not clean. The provided WiFi access code did not work. Convenient location with good restaurant nearby. Not enough of a reason to go back. We had stayed in prior years and had significantly better experience. Our recommendation is to choose Brewers Hawthorne marina nearby.
