Harbormaster and support staff are excellent! Great location even if your not a fisherman (don’t expect any amenities). Menemsha Creek has VERY strong currents so time your approach and entry accordingly. (During our SpringTide visit we found the “calmest” water about :45 after high or low. There are moorings outside the basin; a few moorings for sailboats (only) in the basin; stern-in slips with bow-piling tie up immediately to your Port after you pass through the Creek entrance inside the breakwaters (at 15’ piling spacing a 14’ beam is a tight squeeze!). Be sure to have all your stern, spring and bow lines ready as there are prevailing SW winds in the area and the strong tidal flows will impact your docking maneuverability. Have have adequate fenders to protect you and your neighbors’ craft. You’ll have to use fender-boards for side tie-up on the Menemsha Creek bulkhead on the West side of the basin (Harbormaster has some available). There are a limited number of slips for larger craft on the North side of the basin with fixed dock, side-piling tie-up.

Great facility with courteous and friendly staff that will promptly help you with anything you need, from docking assistance, to pumpout at your slip, to launch service to the mooring field or across the main channel to downtown New Bedford. Pope’s Island is an active boating community, with very friendly and helpful boat owners. This is a secure, gated marina with well maintained grounds including a spacious picnic area with grilles. They have laundry, ice, vending machines, and a lending library. Restrooms and showers are always clean. Marine supply nearby. Walk to the outstanding Whaling Museum. Enjoy awesome seafood, Portuguese restaurants and bakeries in downtown New Bedford.

Westport Yacht Club was great; helpful with mooring arrangements; good location well into the harbor; very good dinghy dock. Even got a call to tell us about the dinner specials offered. USE EXTREME CAUTION IN WESTPORT MARKED CHANNEL; EXTREME SHOALING; NO WATER IN CHANNEL; ATONS 12- 20 HAVE NOT BEEN MOVED TO ACCOUNT FOR SHOALING! Harbormaster guided us to channel at #20. LOCAL KNOWLEDGE ESSENTIAL!

Pros: Great location, great docks, friendly staff and launch, friendly boat owners in residence. Cons: Poor Wi-Fi. Pump out boat out of service.

Marina has deteriorated since our stay 2.5 years ago. Bathroom and shower facilities are mediocre at best and need housekeeping.

Nice spot. Quiet and peaceful. Fixed docks were a little difficult for getting off and on. Lincoln the GM was awesome with communications and tying us up. Nice clean showers and restrooms. Recommended.

Dock hand didn’t respond to radio hailing on CH 9; reached finally by cellphone. Dockhand not available to assist in docking. Dockhand was unaware of our Dockwa reservation until he made a call. One restroom out of order; no toilet paper in second bathroom. Bathrooms not clean. The provided WiFi access code did not work. Convenient location with good restaurant nearby. Not enough of a reason to go back. We had stayed in prior years and had significantly better experience. Our recommendation is to choose Brewers Hawthorne marina nearby.

Marina Response:
Looks like you caught us on a bad day.
