It was an amazing experience to moor that close to the battleships! Appreciated the ability to raft up with our traveling boats and the area was much nicer than anticipated being in the city. The surrounding park along the waterfront is really nice! It is noisy of course since the highway runs right overhead but cove was very still at night. Not much to do in the area though to access safely from the cove. The Cove restaurant was very nice and they have a dinghy dock. Borden Light Marina right before the bridge has ice and gas. Only negatives - no place to get water or get rid of trash. No ice on premises. Worth a one night stay to explore a part of history.
Accommodated request for our group of 4 boats to be close by in mooring field. Dockmaster leaves at 2 on Sundays so no ice available after that. Showers are only available during museum hours. Trash was overflowing at dumpsters. Water is available on the docks. Plenty of dinghy space. The mooring field is NOT in a no wake zone and boats go blasting through creating big wakes. If you’re not planning to visit the museum go further up to town within the no wake zone and be closer to shops and restaurants.
Very friendly staff here. Launch service is quick and reliable. Clean restrooms and showers. Picnic area is concrete slab with grills available. If you need ice, request from the launch. There is no dinghy dock. A bit of a hike to any restaurants and shops. If traveling with other boats don’t assume you will be near each other. It’s a big mooring field and our group of 4 boats were not anywhere close by. Mooring numbering system is confusing.
It's a nice place to visit. The GEM cars are so fun to rent. Be sure to reserve early. The bathrooms are clean but there's no AC in them so very hot and humid. Pool closes at 5 pm which is really unfortunate. Would love to see them cater to weekend guests more by offering longer hours. Can't even buy ice after 5. Transportation is difficult. Marina offers only a one way complimentary ride to some local sites or the ferry. You're on your own for the return trip. Overall a great place to chill. Groups can enjoy the grilling and dining area outside. Great for a rendezvous.
Mooring field can get really bumpy. People don't observe no wake zone. Facility is very nice. Restrooms very clean. Friends had overbooked a day by mistake and we all left a day early due to weather safety. Wasn't happy that there is no recourse for early departure $. Boating is always dependent on weather and marinas should be more flexible.
