Ten years now of ICW traveling, looking to share our experiences up and down the route for our fellow travelers, sail and power. We noticed on this trip that there is a lot of outdated information about the marinas on our section from the Chesapeake and south, so we'll update what we can for you!

Great marina. Staff is wonderful and accommodating, facilities are clean and new, and it's the closest access to the ICW in this location. It is a bit farther from town than other marinas in the area, but they have loaner golf carts that you can use to go shopping, grab a bite, or just check out the town of Belhaven. They have plenty of room on the docks for bigger boats, and getting in and back out is very easy. Both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, and it will be a regular stop on our yearly trips, both up and down. Update: Thank you, Henry! Although getting older, we hope to keep doing our trip for at least another couple of years, and will be glad to see you on the way.

Marina Response:
Thank you for the outstanding review. We take pride in providing fresh and clean facilities, especially our showers, restrooms, and laundry. We look forward to your return! Dockmaster Henry

This is always our first stop when heading south yearly; we don't normally stop here on our way North as home is less than a day away up on the Chesapeake. You just can't get any better access to the ICW than you have at OYM, docking is easy and the staff is always helpful, prices are decent and the store on site is well stocked. Cleanliness in the restrooms is iffy at times, but that depends on who used them before you and their personal habits and politeness more than anything else. The location, being in one of the busiest ports on the East Coast, is perhaps a drawback in that there is a lot of traffic, and it is in a relatively busy city with its attendant population pressures. That said, it is and easy and fairly short walk to the Olde Towne where life is a little calmer and you can pick and choose among many restaraunts and cafes what you would like to eat and where, and not too far at all from the marina. Our favorite is The Bier Garden, with a large selection of wonderful beers and good German foods. The walk itself is enjoyable too, especially if you enjoy the older architecture.

(Update: On reviewing my reviews, I noticed I accidentally gave this a 1 star, when I meant to give it 2.) While this marina used to be worth recommending, I can no longer do so, it has gone far downhill under new management. There is no restaurant on site, it has been closed for the past couple of years. The docks are going bad due to what appears to a lack of adequate maintenance; be very cautious trusting the cleats. The dock boys are young and it seems not trained. The facilities are showing their age and are not clean like they were in years past. Both of the showers in the mens room have large cracks in the floor that have obviously been there for a long time, another cruiser sliced his foot open while showering and warned me to be careful. The toilets were dirty and there was trash on the floor. All in all, it just seems like the place is being poorly managed at every level. We will not be using this marina any more as there are new facilities around on the waterfront side of the town that are much nicer and better run, with plenty of restaurants and such in easy walking distance, and they are actually closer to the ICW.

We love a marina with friendly people, good docks, clean facilities, and a restaurant nearby if not onsite - and this marina has all that and more. Highly recommended. We are generally pushing through and don't stay more than overnight, but from the water Jekyll looks to be a beautiful place. Maybe next year we'll stay a few days.

Good protection and easy in and out, but like another reviewer said keep a weather eye out for the crab trap buoys. Docks are decent, can't speak to the boatyard side of things, people and staff otherwise were generally friendly. Facilities were underwhelming. Good walk to the downtown area, which is old and makes it look like Brunswick was once a much busier and larger town. A good place to pull in to if bad weather is forecast, otherwise we pass it by.

Have only been here once. Decent marina, offers great weather protection, but it is packed, and our impression was that it is kind of impersonal. Easy on and off the ICW, but given the opportunity we'll anchor out up at Calabash instead like usual.

Everything the other reviewer said is true. The place is run down badly and if was not for an engine issue, we would have passed it by upon seeing it. Luckily our problem was minor and relatively inexpensive to fix, although we do feel we paid a premium anyway. If you can go elswhere, do so.

A good marina if you cannot get in over on the Ashley. The only thing that makes the Ashley location better is location; it offers much more 'off boat' entertainment and in easy walking distance, as it is located downtown. Other than that, the view here is actually better, the facilities are nice, staff was competent and friendly, there is a resort on site with dining etc... Not much more that you could ask for, really. Be sure to check the current when entering or leaving as there is a bit of a dogleg into/out of the marina.
