Safe Harbor Capri

My wife and I had a wonderful time staying at the Safe Harbor Capri Marina on our return trip back to Newport. The docks are first rate with plenty of room. Quiet and well protected marina, with a very nice dockside restaurant.

It’s off season, but the Dockmaster met me to take my lines. The docks and facilities are top notch.

Great staff at a great marina.

We were welcomed by Ron at the fuel dock whom was friendly and accommadating. The docks have amazing space and the laundry/ showers were easy to use and clean. Other boaters there seemed very friendly. Ate a couple times at the outdoor Clam shack on Dock and was delicious. Was an easy walk to and from grocery and other stores.

We were on a mooring so didn’t experience many of the amenities but will say their mooring tackle was the best idea I had ever seen ; the pennant coming out of a 8ft. piece of pvc pipe was very easy to pick up .

Nice facility but lots of bird shit on the docks. Hose on the dock is badly mildewed and should be replaced.

Second time there. For a premium price, and the standard to which we’ve come to expect at a Safe Harbor, this is as a very disappointing stay. Welcoming attitude and great customer service is sorely lacking.

Perfect marina to tuck in and fuel up on our way from RI to the NY harbor and beyond to FL.

Classy marina. Extremely helpful and competent dockhands. Docks are first class. Excellent restaurants at marina - both Nino’s Beach and the clam shack. We stop here every time we cruise on our way from New England to and from Florida.

Safe Harbor Capri is a beautiful, modern marina, easy to access and dock. The staff was very responsive and organized in confirming our reservation, responding on the VHF, greeting us etc. Overall just an excellent experience, I highly recommend them

First rate marina with all the amenities you would expect. High quality docks, professional staff, excellent water pressure, restaurant(s) on site. 20-25 min walk or a short water taxi ride to the grocery store. Jia Dim Sum is pricey but REALLY good. We look forward to it on every stop!

We recently had the pleasure of staying (again) at Safe Harbor Capri, and it was an absolutely delightful experience! From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive. The marina is beautifully maintained, with modern facilities and stunning views of Manhasset Bay. The floating docks are in excellent condition, making it easy to dock our boat. We enjoyed a fantastic meal at the waterfront restaurant, where the food was delicious and the service was top-notch. The pool area was a perfect spot to relax and cool off after a day on the water. One of the highlights of our stay was the exceptional service provided by the marina team. They were always available to assist with any needs, and their expertise and friendliness made our visit even more enjoyable. The location is also very convenient, with easy access to nearby amenities and attractions. Overall, Safe Harbor Capri always exceeded our expectations in every way. We can’t wait to return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-quality marina experience!

We had a great stay at Safe Harbor Capri. The docks were great, the staff was friendly and helpful. The pool is small but was very refreshing. The restrooms and showers were clean and adequate. I would certainly return in the future.

stayed for 1 night August 2024 on our way south...it was quiet ....nice docks...restaurant on premises ...this is a large marina so good walk to heads and showers. The staff were friendly enough.

The dock hands were very helpful. Love the shrimp tacos and the resort feel of the marina. Radio contact with the marina was not very inviting, however. The water taxi is great.

My wife and I had a wonderful time staying at the Safe Harbor Capri Marina. The docks are first rate, the grounds immaculate and the staff are incredibly helpful. There is a water taxi that can take you to the town dock and restaurants. Would highly recommend staying here.

Ok, first off, we love staying at this marina. Staff is extremely well trained, courteous and very responsive. Facilities are spotless. However, a couple of things that could use tweaking: 1 .lights are out over both women's and men's heads. It's dangerous to negotiate the steps down from Buster Flats in the dark. We both nearly fell trying to step down. 2. We left the marina on foot around 5pm to walk into town. When we returned, the access code had been changed. Fortunately a member came by and helped. I suggest that you make sure any transients, like me, get an update on the code changes prior to implementing them. If I'd had to sleep outside the gate my review would have likely been worse. Otherwise, thanks for a nearly perfect visit!

Dock staff is always ready to help and keeps an eye on the boats & lines

Our overnight stay was great! The staff met us on the dock, helped tie us up and hooked up our power. Everything was clean and organized. We will be stopping back again on our return trip.

We love it here! Last time through we were on a dock, this time on a mooring. Both are great, and being able to reserve a mooring through Dockwa is a huge plus. The town's launch service cost is included in the price of the mooring, which helps to offset the higher price of these moorings compared to the town moorings, plus you have access to the marina property.

This is one of the most beautiful marinas I visited. The staff was very polite and accommodating . The bathrooms showers docks are all in great condition. Nino's restaurant is also a gem, great food and unbelievable atmosphere overlooking the bay.

Rob dock Master so welcoming, gave us the perfect slip. Even responded to a text accidentally sent on Thanksgiving. Electric spot on fast WiFi. Loved the privacy and secure location. See you next year Capt Robert ADRIMAL Cindy

Update: We got here early this year and they were having some teething problems. On the good news side there is now a very good restaurant within walking distance, Ninos Beach. Update: They have upgraded the facilities which has long been a complaint of many, and they are very nice now. Dock hands are still great, as are the docks. Come back year after year because Doug on the dock is so great. Would get 5 stars if it was closer to restaurants and shopping. Nice docks and competent dock hands. Back again. Got some great work done on the boat. The service department is as good as the dock crew. Returned again this year for the wonderful stays we have had in the past, but this year we also required some service work which was done speedily, with good workmanship, and at a reasonable price. I even got to look in their service bay to see what happened to a motor with the same problem I had but left it go to long.

Awesome dockmaster. Very nice marina. Only complaint; I was on an outside dock, and to say the Wi-Fi was spotty is very generous. It was borderline unusable. I had a good signal, but it kept dropping and was so slow when connected that I finally just gave up. Also only a single toilet in the men's bathroom for the entire marina.

This is a wonderful marina. The facilities are first rate and the staff is very good. The only issue to be aware of is that the harbor is swallow and the lane into the marina is not well marked. The mooring field off the docks is generally deep enough, but do not cut the corner to get to the dock if you draw more than 4 feet.

This is one of the nicest and cleanest Marina we have stayed at, The dock masters and his crew were very friendly and so helpful. The safe Harbor corporation should be very proud of this Marina. I give it a five star rating. The vessel GOOD KARMA.

One of the nicest marinas we’ve visited. Recent upgrades to virtually all aspects of the marina make it a great stopping off point. Short distance to the East River and Manhattan. Water taxi service will run you across the harbor to town for $8 round trip.

Good dock, easy in and out, nice wide docks and ramps. Simple facility otherwise. Ion,y used it for one overnight. I guess price was fair for NY area. Responsive dockmaster and dock hand assistance at tie up. Good location to food, west marine park, etc. Two restaurants on site. Not a ‘resort style marina’ but very good overall

Very kind staff, beautifully kept place. I originally booked for 2 months but had to shorten my stay for personal reasons, they had been very flexible in accommodating my needs. A bit pricey for moorings but otherwise excellent experience.

Great staff! Marina is in a beautiful location on Manhasset Bay.We had a late lunch at Butler’s Flat Clam Shack adjacent to the marina. Food was excellent! We walked a mile to the Stop & Shop thru nice neighborhoods. We decided to take the water taxi across the street from the store back to the marina. A great tour of the harbor and better than carrying grocery bags. Noah helped us at the slip and the fuel dock. Look forward to a return visit.

This is perhaps the best marina of those I frequent on a regular basis. Stable wide docks and superb staff who help at every turn made my stay this and every time a total pleasure. I will probably dump my current marina and move here.

Pool closed at 6 for a party however did not reopen as one of the dock hand’s confirmed it would be. The party was for SHM members and we were included, which was nice.

Absolutely wonderful Marina! Gorgeous environment, very wide teak docks, and every single dock person is extremely friendly and helpful. I can’t say enough about this wonderful Marina. In one word: exceptional!

Excellent Marina with floating docks, positively the widest docks we have seen. Easy docking and well-managed marina. We would stay there again.

We stayed 1 week at Capri as we had our family visiting to play tourist in NYC. Dock master and his team were helpful. Dock and facilities were in great shape. Couple of mishaps during our stay were firstly one boat close to us were partying from 10pm to 3am with lots of lights and loud music. Reported it to dockmaster whom promptly investigated it and found the culprit. Second mishap was the gate code were changed and we were not notified. we came back late from NYC and found ourselves locked out, can’t see any dock hands around. Rang emergency number whom happened to be the marina manager to get the new code. Would stay again.

Very disappointed with staff receiving us. Had to radio in several times; they put us on the wrong dock then asked us to move. The young lady handling our lines couldn’t answer all our questions. Good thing the docks are top notch and the bathroom/shower facilities are tops. Dock staff need not be seen on their phones to get 5 stars.

It's always a pleasure to stay at Safe Harbor Capri. Everything from the helpful dock staff to easy fuel dock access, beautiful wide docks, launch service to waterfront restaurants makes this a great destination on the Long Island Sound.

Great marina for transient stay. Rob and his staff of dock hands could not have been more helpful. This marina is one of our favorite stops during the summer. The only thing I would suggest is to replace the take out restaurant onsite. Harbor has a water taxi which will take you to town. Enjoy!

Beautiful marina and helpful staff. Short walk to a great Mexican restaurant (Margarita's Cafe). It was a very convenient stop outside of NYC before heading up Long Island Sound.

We enjoy coming over to Safe Harbor Capri on Manhassett Bay. The staff here is very responsive and accommodating. The facilities are excellent and the view from our slip of the bay is always relaxing.

Beautiful Marina with exceptionally friendly staff and easy docking. Water taxi is great and will take you to numerous restaurants and in town. Pool is small but adequate. They had a very nice cocktail hour on the pool deck with free cocktails and food. We will definitely be back again many times.

We stayed here 3 nights recently on our 40' Sloop Isle of Skye! Beautiful place. Friendly and helpful staff! Staff gave us very clear and timely directs on the VHF as we approached, so it was very easy to find our slip assignment! He also sent someone to guide us in and help with the dock lines. Very easy after a long day of sailing! Very clean and quiet with nice wide docks. Showers and on shore bathrooms were a long walk away, however they do provide electric cart rides on request to shore! Great walk up seafood restaurant right there, Butler's Flat, over looking the marina. Great Sole and Scallops! Only critique would be they need more shade, since all the seats are outdoors! More umbrellas and an awning around the building would make it much better! There are several restaurants and a great ice cream shop within walking distance too! The town can be reached by Water Taxi Sands Point is a beautiful place to visit from there! We had a wonderful stay and will stay there again!

This is a terrific marina in a beautiful location. The staff are efficient and friendly. We used this marina as a jumping point off to take the LIRR into NYC. We were easily able to see a play and return to our boat the same night. I greatly recommend this Marina and hope to return for future visits!

Been here many times over the years and always good. Great staff and facilities. A great 1st and last stop from our home port to points east. A great stop for a quick weekend getaway. Great new restaurant Ninos on premisses made it better. Many great restaurants in town add to it. Class act.

It's our second time here and we will be back. It's a nice place with a great vibe. The service is not always that great. I feel like it is hard to get any answers... The vending machine was out, no way to get a soda. No way to get answers where we can get one. No way to get ice. I almost feel like we were in the way of people working there annoying them with questions. I mean... I get it. It's busy. But it's not a cheap marina, so you'd expect to be treated better.

Safe Harbor Capri is my favorite marina on Long Island. The pool and facilities are clean and top notch. Rob, the dock master, is very helpful and always available. The rates are reasonable and the Marina even holds complementary cocktail parties once a month.

This marina was so accommodating as we were passing through the area. Everyone we spoke to was friendly and knowledgeable. The Dockmaster, Rob, in particle was incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to make our stay perfect.

The staff was very attentive and the marina was immaculate. Cherry was a beautiful sunset.

There is good news and there is bad news. The good news is the marina, the staff and its facilities are top notch. A dockhand named Dylan gave me great instructions as I was approaching the marina, and met us at the slip and helped us tie up. He then came by with a welcome package, and stopped by a couple of more times to see if we needed anything. The rest of the staff were friendly and helpful. The marina and the facilities are clean and comfortable. The bad news is another boater- not a transient like me- went out of her way to hassle us. On Friday night, my wife and I returned to our boat after dinner to find music blasting from this yacht a few slips away. There was no one on the boat. About a half hour later, a man and a woman got on the boat. My wife walked over to the boat and respectfully asked if they could turn the music down. Not off- just down. The man said ok but the woman become instantly belligerent. As my wife walked away, the woman was talking to her back, saying things like "who do you think you are," "it's Friday night- we can play it as loud as we want," "lighten up b**ch". I asked the woman to not be rude. She told me to lighten up too. That was the end of us talking to her, but she didn't let it go. She kept complaining that we had the nerve to ask them to turn down the music because it was Friday night. Sometimes she directed her words in our direction, and sometimes she was talking to the man on her boat, but that didn't matter. Her voice was so loud, we could not have heard her any clearer if she was on our boat. She would refer to my wife as "that b**ch" and "fu**ing b**ch" many more times. Even though the man did turn down the music, she kept telling him to turn it back up. Ten minutes later the woman turned it back up herself. We said nothing and eventually had to go into our cabin to avoid her vitriol. The next night, there were a number of people on the boat when we returned from dinner, and the music was even louder. We said nothing. The music was so loud, that when we were in our cabin, all hatches closed, and the air conditioner on, we could still hear the music. It stayed that loud past 10:30pm. It was the rudest, most inconsiderate behavior I have encountered at a marina. It will make me think twice about returning there, despite how much we liked the facilities themselves.

Very placid dockage, broad passageways, helpful dockhands. They do go zipping along in those golfcarts as other reviewers have noted. Perhaps they could be set so they can't go quite as fast. It's the speed of the wheels clacking on the planks that accounts for some of the noise. The shower and bathroom facilities were clean and tastefully decorated. There is a curious system however that limits their availablility. On each door leading to the men's, ladie's and showers there is a little sign that can be slid one way to mark "open" and the otherway to mark "occupied." That would make sense for single occupancy facilities but each can accommodate 2-3 at a time. It was a bit annoying to have waited quite awhile for the shower to be available and when the person using it finally came out I entered to find 3 fully private shower stalls and a separate toilet. I would ditch the signs and replace them with a sign which informs people how many stalls there are in each room. That being said I would definitely go back.

Absolutely beautiful marina with gorgeous views. Great water taxi and wonderful restaurants in town!

Helpful staff. Butler’s Flat Clam Shack on-site is a nice addition too.

The Dock hands were very helpfull. The documentation sent before hand was very informative and helpfull.

The dock/fuel staff were great. Very attentive and informative. docks and walkways are spacious. Love the water taxi system to get to town/shopping!! This was our second trip to this Marina in two years. Glad the Pool and Butler's Restaurant were open!!

Safe Harbor Capri is a beautiful clean marina. The staff were all polite and helpful. What a fun spot. Took the water taxi across the bay to Louis’s Seafood. So happy we found this as a stop on our way home from Block Island.

Excellent dock hands. Friendly and helpful. The dock master guided me in well to my slip as my first time there.

Beautiful marina and highly recommended. Spent a weekend at the marina and the service from marina staff to the food at the food shack was excellent. Want to thank the Dockmaster Robert and his crew for all their help and assistance over the weekend.

Arrived with a group of 5 boats. Dockhands got us tied up fast. The grounds and facilities are beautiful. We will come back again soon.

The dock master at Safe Harbor was very accommodating to our group. He went out of his way to check on updates to our roster and offered a discount to a large group. The staff was very friendly and helpful when we asked for local knowledge. My only disappointment was with the loud music from the dock that played until after midnight.

Nice docks and helpful dockboys but they race golf charts along the docks at high speeds all day long. Obnoxious rich kids partying loudly until the wee hours of the morning. Will not go back.

What a beautiful marina. They had live music, a happy hour by the pool, and a BMW test drive! We had a blast and we’re totally impressed all around. The dock crew was totally professional and experienced. Will absolutely visit again soon.

We loved it and will definitely be returning soon. The wide docks are clean and a pleasure to walk on. The dock hands are great. Although we didn’t eat on site food looked great. We found an awesome restaurant, Wild Honey on Main. Used Deluxe taxi service. It’s a little far to use water taxi, and Uber is not an option.

Excellent marina, very friendly, attentive staff-- we always enjoy coming here. Snack bar is open (Butler Flats) with great seafood selections, including lobster roll and fried clams. Pool recently reopened (July 15, 2021.)

Beautiful marina in a great port to visit. The staff was fantastic and very accommodating. This is a great place for a stop over if you are traversing Long Island sound.

Clean, modern, and well appointed marina with wide docks, capable hands and an outstanding view of Manhasset Bay. I highly recommend this marina for transient boaters looking for a first class, low key stop on their journey up and down the Long Island Sound. We'll be back for sure!!

Overall great stay. Wonderful dock hands, good bathroom and shower facilities, and close to restaurants and stores (West Marine, Target, Hardware). Highly recommend.

Disappointed with the fuel dock, where we were supposed to get fuel at 8am but didn’t start fueling till 9.30. Restaurant at marina was great fantastic lobster roll.

The dock team was great and very helpful. Having a seafood restaurant / Crab Shack on-site is a great plus. As at most marinas, more hooks and a small table for putting clean clothes etc. in the shower area would be appreciated.

All was great here. The helpful staff, dockhands, ipé docks, super WIDE docks, wifi, elec power, friendly resident neighbors, local pizza delivery, Instacart.... ALL GREAT. I will come back for sure!

This was our second stay at Safe Harbor Capri Marina! They did not disappoint once again! Excellent, clean and well cared for bathrooms and showers. Staff professional and very helpful.

I can’t say enough about how great the harbor master, Rob, has been during our stay. He’s been so accommodating and courteous. Facilities are clean and updated. Docks are super wide!! Wonderful place!!

What a superb facility. And the owner's are excellent also. We stayed in December when not much was going on, but Dave (owner?) went so far as to bring us enough quarters to do some laundry. I've never seen docks so spacious, you could literally drive a truck down the dock. Showers and restrooms were impeccable. You won't be disappointed.

Long overdue post. Great place and highly recommended by many boaters to us. Very clean and wide docks, and the staff couldn't have been nicer and more helpful.

Main docks and fingers are solid and wide enough for a golf cart which Dockmaster Rob’s staff use to be there when you need them to grab a line, fuel up or deliver a bag of ice to your slip - just call CH 71. Free pump out from town boat is on CH 09. So is the water taxi which will pick you up at your slip or mooring to take you to shopping and restaurants around Manhasset Bay. We were scheduled to stay for 4 nights but we stayed for 6. A great destination or stop over. Jeff & Diane - Windborne Stopped over again on way out and back to Port Jeff. Dockmaster Rob and crew were right there to help all the way even offering to keep fuel dock open a little longer than normal if we were late coming in. Showers were clean and spacious. Two more great experiences

Great service, beautiful docks, and clean facilities

The docks were great and the staff was helpful but they advertise WIFI and it does not work. I spent a significant amount of time on the phone with Beacon but they could not get the WIFI to work. She said she would have an engineer call the next day but we were leaving the next day. I never heard from anyone. If WIFI is not important to you, Safe Harbors are great. However, our priorities are floating docks and working WIFI and while docks are great, Safe Harbors have not followed through on their promises for WIFI.

Well protected marina with friendly dock hands ( Grayson ). Clean, safe and nice 2 mile walk to town.

Docking was easy and they were waiting to assist us as we pulled up, met some nice people docking nearby, pump out service was excellent (10am), electricity worked fine, very helpful and escalated when we had a technical issue with something. Thank you!

one of the best marinas i have stayed at. the hole staff is very helpful and go out of there way to make you feel welcome. fueling and docking the dock hands are right there to help. easy in and out of the marina . deep water. easy travel by water taxi to town.
