Newburyport Municipal Docks are amazing! They are beautifully laid out abutting the boardwalk and steps from shopping. Dock hands Matt, Alex and Greg were super nice and helpful.

It was our first overnight trip and a short one, but the dock amenities were clean and plentiful especially for a municipal dock. Newburyport has so much to offer for food and shops, etc., within a short walking distance.

Spent 2 very nice days at this municipal dock. It’s one long face dock and seems very busy. It fronts on a large city park that is busy all day and into the evening. The local folks we met were extremely friendly. The docks and power pedestals seem new and are in great condition. The harbormaster was extremely helpful when we arrived and ensured we tied up to face the ebb currents which are strong. The heads and showers can be a long walk if you’re tied to the upstream end of the dock. The showers are adequate but only available from 7 AM to 7 PM. There’s a free laundry in the same facility. There are enough interesting restaurants nearby that you could stay for a couple weeks, eat out every night and never eat at the same place twice. Newburyport is a fine little city.

Amazing stay. The dockhands couldn’t have been nicer. We had a little family emergency and needed to stay another night and they gladly work with us to allow us to extend our stay . We are so appreciative . Beautiful docks right in the heart of the city. Will definitely return !

Moorings are just outside harbormaster office. Bit noisy, congested and next to all the boat traffic. Facilities were very nice (showers, toilets, free laundry). Location is perfect and everything you need is a walkable distance. The current is no joke! Plan your entrance and departure according to the tides!

Loved Newburyport! Great docks and nice staff, laundry room was nice too, calm harbor at night but boat traffic during day can rock the boat. Great restaurants nearby. One of our favorite stops from Florida to Maine.

These are by far the best municipal docks I have stayed at. The dockhand are attentive, the harbor master helped me with delivery of packages and other matters, and the town is an absolute delight. We stayed extra days and rented a car and visited Salem. Can’t say enough about the docks and this town.

This is always a great stop for us right downtown with a beautiful waterfront. The scheduling people are great and Lydia, the dockmaster, is very helpful.

After a touch of apprehension at staying overnight at an “open” dock without security, we could not have been happier with our stay. Lydia communicated and greeted us well, the docks are in great shape, and there are a ton of shops and restaurants to check out. We will definitely be back!!

Great Municipal Dock area!

Right in the heart of town. Easy tie up and water and electricity. Nice free laundry. Clean showers. Only down side was sort of a public location with no security and no WiFi. Would stay again.

Biggest problem is that bathrooms, even though only accessible with a code provided to boaters, are locked at 7pm. So from 7pm to 7am, you cannot use the shore-based facilities. They are locked with a code at all times, so why would the door automatically disable the code-access at 7pm? Also, nothing prior to, or after reservation was accepted, said that the dockmaster leaves at 6pm. Was not really a problem for us, since we do not need docking help, but it would have been nice to no before the day of when the harbormaster called. On that note, she was very pleasant and provided us with all the info we needed. These 2 things were NOT made clear on the Dockwa site at booking. I realize it's after Labor Day, but the season is not over!

It was great! Friendly folks & right in town!

We fully enjoyed our 6 nights on a mooring ball in Newburyport. The currents are pretty high so arrive close to slack. The dinghy dock is fully protected from the currents so easy to get ashore as needed. The staff is exceptional in this marina. The harbormaster boat saw we were coming in and guided us to our mooring. The staff even picked up our electric bikes at our boat and brought them ashore, and found us a place to store them for the week so we had them available for use daily. Above and beyond what we expected, we had a great visit.

Being on the dock right in downtown Newburyport is wonderful! Clean facilities and very close to the shops and restaurants. There is a great walking path along the river.

The Harbormaster’s office was very helpful with directing us to our mooring & recommendations for local restaurants. Mooring was close to dinghy dock & town. Would highly recommend staying here!

The mooring was easy to pick up because they have a foam noodle holding the line up so it doesn’t get tangled around the mooring ball. Harbormaster was helpful in pointing it out to us. The channel is not marked correctly in Navionics. We followed the buoys and didn’t see less than 16 feet at high tide. Shower facilities were nice and there was a washer and dryer! The people in the harbormaster office were helpful and friendly. Cute town too! Great sandwiches at Port City Sandwich Co

Great town marina located steps away from beautiful downtown Newburyport. The staff were all very friendly and helpful (shout out to Lydia and Maryann!), and the facilities were very nice (with free use of washers & dryers!). We will be back!

Another great stay! We tied up for a couple nights to spend father's day weekend in Newburyport and as always had a wonderful stay. Dock master Lydia is outstanding! She is such an incredible person and makes us feel so welcome every time we arrive. We'll be back soon!

Great, walkable town with tons of restaurants and shops. Docks are right in town, clean and quiet, and friendly, helpful dockhands. Linear dock, side tie, keep in mind current can be a factor docking and undocking as well as at the harbor entrance

Great Spot and service

Great docks, great location, lots of restaurants

Excellence facilities and friendly staff. There is a ripping current but easy docking awaits with able hands on the dock staff. The floating dock puts you right downtown with great shopping and eating. Getting up the river can be challenging with all the a$$holes oncoming in at 25 knot. There is also special attention needed with an outgoing tide and incoming wind/seas. The latter is easy to predict and entering on slack is your strategy. As for the former, there is no cure for stupid.

Stay was great absolutely beautiful docking arrangements.. I only wish I would’ve head the numbers for the keypad to the restroom and showers.. that would’ve been wonderful..

Very helpful dock hands and great central location. Some overnight noise from boardwalk traffic, otherwise a great way to visit Newburyport!

We stayed on a mooring for a three day weekend in July. Maryanne is so helpful and accommodating with scheduling...Lydia was amazing as a deckhand...The downtown location is perfect...The bathrooms are clean. Such a great time...planning to visit again next year...Thank you!

I was on a mooring, but the docks looked to be in excellent shape as well. Easy access to shore from a spacious and protected dinghy dock. The boater facilities (laundry machine and showers) were well equipped, spotlessly clean, and spacious. As good or better than most private facilities. I did not interact with the staff, other than calling on the VHF to confirm I was headed for the correct mooring ball, and I received a prompt, courteous, and helpful response. I’m impressed. This will be my first choice anytime I’m in Newburyport. Tough to beat for price-to-value.

Lydia is super friendly and helpful. Greeted us immediately and offered assistance with docking and recommended restaurants. When reserving, we talked with both Marianne and Sue Ellen who were so accommodating . Great location and nice facilities!

We booked at the last second and the person at the front desk on a Saturday! at the Harbor Master was phenomenal in helping us get this booked and secured (the only space in all of Newburyport that has 1 mooring left. Really incredible service from a very friendly staff. Note. You do need your own Dinghy at the moment to get ashore.

The staff at the Newburyport Harbor Masters office are top notch. Its always a pleasure staying there.

Anyone considering a visit to downtown NBPT by boat will not be disappointed. Easy access to a beautifully historic downtown, great restaurants and shops. The City has a great boater/visitors center with clean facilities - one of the better public boating facilities in the Northeast. On this stay, the DockWoman Olivia was simply the Best!

Great service and follow up, very professional , incredible customer service

Location is great as you are in the heart of NBRPRT. Walking path along the coast will lead you to shops, dining, entertainment. Along the waterfront there is access to restrooms. Showers are listed, but I didn't look for them. If needed there is docking assist but call ahead if needed to ensure someone is waiting. If docking near the corner / inlet for the dinghy's / smaller boats, expect some drifters to come your way when the current is flowing in that direction.

We reserved a mooring, and it turns out the harbormaster has only 2 moorings, right off the town dock. The moorings were fine, but the current in the river is something to consider and deal with. the harbormaster staff were great and helpful, but whole trees and other debris comes down the river and we had a couple of solid "thunks" against the hull during the night. Newburyport itself is great and we'll likely be back, but I think we'll take some dock space next time instead of a mooring.

We didn't use VHF to announce we were arriving and ask where to park (sun was in our eyes and current was running fast), but someone greeted us and helped tie up, answered a few questions... We had a pleasant stay and noise, even for a Sat. night that was warm, was very low. Thanks!

Another great Stay in a beautiful waterfront town. Mary and the dock staff were very helpful. We are on a catamaran and they were able to put us on a perfectly sized mooring. Facilities were spotless and laundry was a bonus. Will be back again next year.

A mooring is a mooring is a mooring but Elizabeth is a pro and I appreciate how she went out of her way to make the stay go smoothly. I look forward to a return visit as I make my way back south

The dock hands were there when we arrive and the staff was always helpful. Everything was clean. The only negative I would say is there was no wifi. The harbormaster's office was very helpful and accommodating when I increased our stay. Newburyport is very fun, lots of restaurants, walking areas and live music. Also lots of parking for guests to come.

Always an amazing stay here. Very accommodating with friendly staff. Docks are great. Not quite 240v power if you need it. We saw only 220v. Having a 60’ vessel, rarely seen in Newburyport, we were definitely in the spotlight to all the passerbys.

As mentioned in other reviews, the location of this marina is outstanding. It also looks like the restroom facilities are new. They are only open between 7a-7p so we were not able to use them. Also, we had an issue contacting the dockmaster on the radio for docking instructions. The range on her handheld radio is not very far. They put us at the very end of the linear dock and we found out that the current sucks your boat into the small cove at the end of the dock. We adjusted our approach to account for this and had no problems.

Stout mooring easily identifiable and located just off busy town dock. Facilities on shore at the Harbor Master office- showers and laundry- are very nice and clean. Quick access to town and many restaurants and shops from the nearby dinghy dock. Very busy waterway with commercial tour boats and private recreation boats.

Great spot in the heart of beautiful downtown Newburyport. The dock person who checked us in was friendly and helpful. She was there to take our lines and check us in upon arrival. You should be comfortable being sociable with passers-by as many will stop and chat about your boat. This is part of the fun of being there! Easy walking distance to many great restaurants and shops.

Actually we had planned for 6 nights, and ended up adding two more nights to enjoy the area and the comfort of air conditioning during a hot spell. All dock staff so helpful and friendly. Elizabeth helped us out when our son drove to visit from VT and needed safe parking. We stayed here several nights July 2018 with a flotilla of sister PDQs and were delighted to have an opportunity to return.

Great location, super clean (and I mean super clean) bathrooms and showers. Free pumpout, free laundry, water and electric included, and awesome staff. I hate to recommend it because they have limited space and want to make sure I get a spot next time I go! Staff was friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable about navigating in and out as the Merrimack river is very challenging. The only downside is that there is no locked gate between the dock and shore, but there is a lot of activity which basically polices the place. Lots of things to walk to and do; steps away from the park and great restaurants.
