If only all yacht clubs were as friendly and welcoming as Westport Yacht Club! Gary the vice commodore was waiting our arrival to help us with our lines, even at a newly 60 years old, he sprung into action! The food was delicious and we enjoyed eating on the scenic deck. All the other members were nice too! We hope to return on our way home.

Very nice club. Small, tasteful. Not many services. Very nice swimming beach, however. Westport is a great spot to visit, particularly if you like oysters!

Westport Yacht Club was great; helpful with mooring arrangements; good location well into the harbor; very good dinghy dock. Even got a call to tell us about the dinner specials offered. USE EXTREME CAUTION IN WESTPORT MARKED CHANNEL; EXTREME SHOALING; NO WATER IN CHANNEL; ATONS 12- 20 HAVE NOT BEEN MOVED TO ACCOUNT FOR SHOALING! Harbormaster guided us to channel at #20. LOCAL KNOWLEDGE ESSENTIAL!

Came in at 2/3 tide, ran aground in the middle of marked channel. After running aground several more times finally made it to Westport YC with advice from Harbormaster. Nobody at WYC to offer advice on getting out, talked to launchman at F.L.Tripp who told us about unmarked alternate channel that locals had been using, but had no knowledge of the minimum depth. Decided to leave immediately to catch the last of rising tide. Tried marked channel (min depth 9’ on chart, I draw 7’) and ran aground again. About that time a guy came along in a small sailboat, told us not to try the marked channel and gave use explicit instructions for the alternate channel. That worked so we made it out of the harbor. Tried to call Westport YC about a refund-no answer on phone or radio. Next day I called Dockwa, they suggested that I email Westport YC explaining the situation, which I did. They issued refund right away.

The only channel into Westport Harbor is now blocked by a bar at G"19" to R"18". We draw 4.5 ft. and somehow got in at mid-tide, but with one soft grounding. On attempting to depart at mid-tide the next morning (5:30 am), we turned around after three soft groudings. Back to the club mooring. Tried again to depart on rising tide 2 pm---with loss to our schedule, or course. This time the harbormaster boat intercepted us on the way out and led us outside of the channel's G"21" and G"19". Saved our bacon. Thanks! Word from locals is that a bar has developed across the only channel and that the Army Corps is "working on it" (Summer 2022). Recommendation: if you have any draft to speak of, enter only at high tide (and then perhaps contact the harbormaster). Club was pretty empty on a summer Thursday. Fairly friendly. They had responded promptly to my Dockwa request (and thus got my mooring business more quickly that Tripp). Shower, toilets okay. Couple of block walk across peninsula to Town Beach.

When I made my reservation I got a message "no steward on duty." After dinner I learned that meant I could be locked out of the docks because I hadn't specifically told the club member monitoring the Dockwa account that I was going to walk up the street to get dinner. When reached by phone she told me, "you're out of luck," and I should try climbing around the fortified gate or go look for someone on the adjoining Tripp marina docks who might help me. It was a ridiculous situation made worse by the WYC member's very unhelpful attitude. The gate to the dock requires a key, not a code, and this was not communicated at the time of reservation (gates were open when I arrived, and "no steward" made it reasonable to expect nobody would lock them). It seems fraudulent for an organization to take money for a service (mooring) and deprive the customer of basic, expected, related amenities like access to the docks.

Very low key. The club members very welcoming. Fairly new floating docks. Easy in-out with the fast moving River current

Westport Harbor is a beautiful traditional New England Harbor. The shuttle over to the Back eddy Restaurant was awesome. Don't count on anyone setting up your electric and water and dock lines like most harbors. There is a beautiful beach within walking distance. We would visit again. Seas were 1 to 2 feet in Buzzards Bay. As we approached the harbor inlet the winds out of the SW picked up. We saw rollers that increased in size as we approached. The exiting current was intense and a 8 plus ft crashing wave hit our boat broadside and then larger ones were on our stern. It was a harrowing experience to say the least. The current at the yacht club was 6 knots making docking difficult. The harbor entrance has two large bodies of water emptying into a very small inlet. So be very careful entering the harbor after High Tide, especially if the wind is blowing in offshore.

The westport yacht cannot be reached on channel 9 and they do not answer there phone. so when your assigned mooring ball is taken you are left to take another. the mooring ball does not have a pennant to grab instead you have to go thru an eye spice 8 feet down. felt very venerable going through tropical storm Ida

What a wonderful stay at the WYC! First the mechanics...the docks are great, stern in to floating does with fixed pilings. There is a current, and eddys, so line yourself up well. Some have said there is only 30A power, but we are plugged in to 50A250V right now. There is a clubhouse with small outdoor restaurant for lunch and a clean, sandy private beach. All really great. Now the fun part...every single person we met is as nice as can be, especially Bunny who manages the Dockwa reservations from the cockpit of her sailboat. WYC is a private club but we sure felt welcome as a one night transient. Bonus: we had dinner at the Back Eddy which was like being at a great restaurant in midcoast Maine. Stay in the channel on your way into Westport and you'll have a great time!

Initially no one answered phone or radio. After that it was all very positive. There are no fingers docks so we had to remove our dinghy and Freedom Lift arms in order to stern into slip. Jay and several members of the club assisted us while we were at a mooring and they assured us someone would help when we left. They were wonderful and it was most appreciated. Very nice facilities and a nice beach right on the property.

This was a very nice place to stay. Jay was helpful in tying up and was always available with information and to answer any questions. The yacht club members were equally as nice. The facilities were also clean and had hot water and good pressure.

Love this place and try to reserve a slip every time I come to visit Westport. I wish the membership list was shorter! I’d only be able to use the club once or twice a year but it would be worth it! I do wish they had with finger docks for the smaller boats (23' CC) for easier load/unload and allow me to put the engine up without having to jump off the bow to the dock.

Quintessential New England marina on one of the most beautiful harbors in the Northeast. Bring your dinghy and spend a day on boat beach at the tip of the harbor. Friendly staff. Boaters on the dock were very welcoming and helpful. Back Eddy restaurant for steamers and a cold Allagash is a must. 10 min walk or 1 dollar shuttle ride. Be prepared to deal with some current when docking. You'll get help from a dock hand. You can fail them on Chanel 9.

After an issue determining where we could dock, we finally secured our berth and had a great time at the WYC. The members were very friendly and helpful and the short walk to Horseneck Beach was great.

I love Westport Harbor, and have stayed here before. I requested a mooring, and radioed the yach club on VHF 9 & 16 as I entered the harbor. I received no resopnse, so I called on my cell; no answer. The last time that I stayed here there was an attendant on the dock that apologized because he couldn't help me onto a mooring. This time I provided entertainment to other boaters as I tried to figure out what to do, and on which mooring I should do it. The current in the Westport River is moving at over 3 kts for max flood and ebb. the mooring bouys are attached to lines that are tied to loops on lines that are securely anchored to the bottom. To make it easier for anyone reading this review, here is the seceret: To moor, you need a boat hook, and a dock line. Grab the bouy with your hook, and pull it out of the water until you reach the loop. Run your dock line from a cleat through the loop and back to a cleat. Secure it with VERY short scope, but DO NOT bring the mooring bouy, or the loop aboard unless you want little shrimp and seaweed all over your deck. Secure the bouy with another dock line outside of your lifelines. My wife said that the shower that she used had a disgusting (mildew) shower curtain. My shower was fine. The last time that I was here all of the showers were clean and neat.

Our first time into Westport River which has easy access, plenty deep water channel (>12') and ends up in a beautiful spot. The yacht club pointed out our mooring directly off their dock and the next door marina provides an attentive launch whose driver will drop and pick up at the Back Eddy restaurant until 10pm. The YC served breakfast starting at 8:30, has decent showers and bathrooms and is located a short walk to West Beach which is the town's end of Horseneck Beach. Access is free and the beach is in great condition and offers endless walking east to Horseneck or west toward the river. The BE restaurant has really stepped up since our last visit 20 years ago - much larger, expanded high quality menu, raw bar on the dock among other improvements. Reservations only accepted for parties of 6 or more. So our visit was terrific except for terrible aspect which was the mooring. Due to someone's misjudgment (my guess the harbormaster), a mid-sized "No Wake" buoy was located too closely to our mooring (#37). Due to the flood/ebb rotation of the river current, our mooring tackle somehow became wrapped around the mooring of the No Wake buoy some time before 2am. This caused the buoy to bump against our hull all night long. Sleep was difficult and no matter how many fenders we put out the buoy found unprotected hull to bang against. Luckily it was a relatively light, white plastic buoy that didn't damage our hull but it was a sleepless night. The next morning the harbormaster and the club representatives were indifferent to me when I pointed out the problem with this buoy. Didn't seem like a 1st occurrence. No action was taken by either one. Luckily neither mooring line was wrapped around our rudder so we were able to release the mooring tether and sail home on a beautiful clear day. So, unless that buoy has been relocated, avoid mooring #37!

Great people; great place. The Back Eddy restaurant was also excellent. Walking distance or shuttle via Tripps Launch service.

Very friendly and helpful staff! Be aware that the Westport Yacht Club ONLY HAS 30 AMP service. Wiring for the electricity is overhead, like a trolley system, on the docks...very ugly to look at.
