Friendly helpfull staff. Reasonable price. Walking distance to a lot of stuff.

Great marina and superb dock master in James! So very accommodating and helpful. He even offered to come in on his day off to help us with lines! (Unnecessary.) Thank you James and team for a great stay. It will be my first choice on our next visit to the area.

Great place to stay. The marina is spotless and the staff are some of the friendliest on the east coast. There were three dock attendants to greet me last time I pulled in. The dockmaster is great for sourcing out service reliable providers. For insurance reasons, I couldn’t proceed south until 1 November and choice to park my boat there for a month. The confidence staff did a great job looking after her in my absence.

Great location. Easy walk into town. 3 great dockhands were there to meet us at the dock. New floating docks with bumbers all around the slip. Everyone was very willing to help with whatever questions we had. Definitely will stay there again.

This is our 4th stay at Waterside. Very responsive and dockhands are extremely professional and courteous. We always try to stay two days here! Easy walk to all kinds of bars and restaurants such as Grace O'Malley's!

Our favorite marina in the Chesapeake! Even though we are only there twice a year, James treats us like we dock there daily. He makes sure that Serene is well secured at the dock and is always available for any additional needs. We look forward to our return.

Here’s hoping we get To stay here again for our return trip back up North in April. Great spot! Great staff! Awesome docks!! Walkable to everything except the grocery store and laundry. If you need to reprovision they order you a Lyft to get to Harris Teeter to go there and back. Very easy. James the dockmaster along with his crew do a fantastic job. Fantastic... best service we have had at a marina. The help with the lines and getting in and out of a tight spot was amazing and you did not feel like you were putting them out. The bathrooms and showers were clean and well kept also!

Spent 4 nights then had to leave for 2 weeks. James the dock master couldn't have been more helpful in sorting out the reservation. The docks and adjustable cleats are very good, and the power is nice and stable. All in all one of the better deals out there.

Amazing dock team. I had planned to stay a few nights. Then it became a week. The dock team couldn’t be more accommodating or helpful. Nice modern docks and electric. A good wave wall to reduce wakes. And right in the heart of downtown Norfolk.

The marina and staff really do make this a great place to spend a few days in Norfolk. Can be a bit tight maneuvering in the marina depending on how full it is and the bathrooms are a bit of a hike but the proximity to downtown and all the restaurants and shops more than make up for it.

Met at the dock by two dock hands the helped us get tied up and oriented. Reservation and payment on Dockwa was effortless.

Waterside Marina is ALWAYS a great stay. The marina staff are very helpful and polite. The area around Waterside is so much fun- lots of good restaurants and bars with entertainment. We just completed another 4 day stay at Waterside marina. As always everything was perfect!!. The marina staff are so helpful and friendly!!! Perfect location, easy walk to restaurants and shops. Supermarket 2 mile bike ride. Great walking and biking paths along the waterfront. Friendly and helpful staff. Reasonable rates. Will stay here again.

I run a 80FT private motor yacht and have been stopping in Norfolk for many years. I always go to Waterside. The location is fantastic and the docks are top notch. I usually get lucky and get the 90ft floating pier which is a perfect spot. I just left after a 12 day stay waiting out weather heading back home to South Florida and the staff (Danny &James) were super accommodating as always. I had an open ended schedule and they made it happen. Truly the easiest Marina on the East Coast to deal with. I’ll be a customer for life! Thanks again to the guys over there for making my stay so easy and enjoyable. See y’all next summer! Cheers.

James, Danny, and the crew at Waterside are the most professional, courteous, and welcoming dockside crew. Their experience is a true value to us boaters. We look forward to staying again on our return trip.

The staff went above & beyond to make sure that we enjoyed our stay. There were complimentary rides to the supermarket (in the mornings) & they even met you when you returned with a cart & helped you load them on your boat. We spent two nights tied up at Waterside Marina and really enjoyed our stay. The dockmaster, Jimmy, called us mid-afternoon to check on our projected arrival and let us know our dock assignment. We had requested a port side tie and upon arrival, Danny and Kendal were waiting on the finger pier of a perfect slip to assist with the dock lines, connect our water lines and filter, get us connected to shore power, and perform a pump-out. They performed those tasks with the speed and precision of a NASCAR pit crew! The floating docks with adjustable cleat placement were great. The marina is very near parks, museums, numerous restaurants, and shopping that are all within easy walking distance. We toured the General Douglas MacArthur museum, which was a few blocks away and offered free admission. Waterside Marina has a 5-star team running a very nice facility. We will certainly return.

What a find.....right in the heart of downtown Norfolk and very reasonably priced considering the location. Amazing staff - couldn't do enough for us. Would certainly recommend a stay here - it was so good we went back a 2nd time!

Another" must stop" on our way from Savannah to Annapolis. The facilities are a 10, and the staff and dock support were there and available for our every need . We were certainly not their biggest transient [ 42 ] ; but we were treated as though we were special. the access to the whole Waterside Park and Commercial district was great with restaurants and touring all within 2-3 blocks. You will not be disappointed , and likely will find your own " must stop" ....We are returning in a couple of weeks on our way back south. WELL SEA ....

Waterside has been one of our favorite spots. There is so much to do. The docks are is excellent shape. Very protected. Wish the bathrooms were a little bigger but all and all it was great. Staff were friendly and professional.

The staff here is always exceedingly helpful. They are very friendly & knowledgeable about the area. The marina “office” is conveniently staffed until 10:00 pm. We have stayed the night at many marinas on the ICW & find Waterside to be one of the best. It is centrally located within walking distance for dining / shopping in Norfolk and getting right back to the ICW.

The Waterside Marina staff were Outstanding hosts for our July 4th stay!

This is a great marina in a super location. The concrete floating slips are just a few years old and are in very good condition. Service is also very good with knowledgeable dockhands ready to assist you getting docked and underway. It is a short walk to many outstanding restaurants, museums and other attractions including Town Point Park that hosts several festivals throughout the year. I have been here many times and will continue to return!

The deck hands who met us were great. They did a professional job with dock lines and getting our electricity hooked up. Ed

Docks are in great shape and the location is excellent. We enjoyed free music all weekend sitting on the boat while a festival was underway. Staff was excellent. Friendly, knowledgeable and prompt when we needed to extend a day due to weather. Only complaint is the bathrooms. They are a long walk from the docks. And during our staff were routinely dirty and out of toilet paper.

We just finished our third stop at Waterside Marina. Each stop has been great. The staff is ALWAYS knowledgeable, friendly, courteous and efficient. They know what to do to help with docking, they know local places boaters may need, packages are received and stored safely. Waterside Marina is in a protected spot. We safely waited our Hurricane Ian last year. Yes there are other marinas nearby, but why would you go elsewhere when a great marina like Waterside is available.

It was nice to be downtown and near museums, parks, greenway, and historic sites. Several restaurants on site. The staff was helpful and the location quiet during our stay. They were gearing up for a weekend waterfront fest with live music and vendors so if that’s your thing - and excellent location.

We really enjoyed Waterside Marina. Perfect location, well kept marina. Lots within walking distance. Easy to use either Uber or Lyft in Norfolk. They had plenty of dockhands to help us upon arrival. I would have given it 5 stars, but it doesn't have laundry or fuel at the marina. This was not a problem for us but others make note if this is something you need. Also according to their website they will provide Uber to the closest supermarket at 10 am each morning, however we didn't use this, but an excellent service to offer. I would definitely stay here again.

Greta staff!!!! From the time we got there to the time we left. Attentive and helpful. Docks are in great shape and the cleats are on a rail system the can be adjusted to meet the needs of each individual vessel! Long walk to the bathrooms and laundry unless you are on the entry dock or the wall dock. Right in the heart and an easy walk to anything you want to do while visiting Norfolk. Good rates, dockhands handle the pump out for you!!!! Secure, you can feel safe here. Would stay again.

On our previous visit all of the waterside Restaurants/bars were closed when we visited but OMG there was so many other cool things to see and do when we visited. Their new floating docks are super impressive and docking couldn't have been easier with Seth's help. He turned us on to "Grain" a bar/restaurant on the 5 floor roof of the Hilton and it was AWESOME! We visited Nauticus and the USS Wisconsin which was fun and walked around the historic Mason District. I thought downtown Norfolk was going to be just a bunch of big buildings but there was oh so much more..... On this visit over Memorial Day weekend I was worried it was going to be crazy busy and we were arriving at the peak of outgoing tide. James the DM was more than willing to accommodate us anyway he could. We negotiated via text msg a location that would allow me to back into the slip with the current as opposed to perpendicular to the current. James and his team couldn't have made docking any easier. Once again we visited Grain and other restaurants in town. Used complimentary shuttle to the supermarket both times which is super convenient. We will definitely stop here again

Great marina staff and docks, but a little bit tight. Marina location is great! Showers/restrooms are a bit far but clean and plenty of hot water. The Waterside building is showing g its age a bit (I remember when it was brand new 40ish years ago!) But the downtown area of Norfolk is nice with lots to do and the restaurants and shops that are there are good!

Staff were fantastic.

Perfect spot for recharging after or before getting into the ICW. This marina is in the heart of waterfront Norfolk. Numerous festivals and celebrations occur within a pitching wedge of this marina. The activities stop well before any sailors’ bed time so expect some music and people noise during the daylight hours. The crew that greets you are knowledgeable and very helpful in getting you to and tied up in your slip. Appreciate the great help this past weekend. The Marina is located within a few blocks of the rejuvenated downtown Norfolk area and numerous watering holes and restaurants are within walking distances from your vessels. This was our fourth time here and they have never dissapppinted our expectations. Thanks! Final Approach

Good location and docks are newish There was a festival at Waterside all day and into evening with SUPER LOUD club music all weekend. Definitely completely spoiled any chance enjoy the great weather and all the other loopers in town. The docks are NOT secured with a gate so anyone can just walk right up to your slip at any time day or night. The bathroom/shower is quite a hike. I would not go back unless they confirm that no similar event with long days of loud Music was planned.

Laundry Very nice welcome and service

We arrived to get out of the weather heading in and booked three nights. The weather changed and we left a day early and got a refund! Thank you for your hospitality.

Clean, safe, and helpful. Dockmaster James went above and beyond to help us. A bit blowy at arrival, James offered us a power cord extension so we could bow-in and avoid the need to 180 within the inner harbor. James pumped us out within our slip (which normally must occur on the outside). Unsolicited, he called the night's restaurant to check on uncertainty about dress code. He brought us a water hose to recover from our salt bath. James approved us for late departure which allowed us to execute a non-hurried and memorable walking tour of the area prior to departure. Thank you, James. This most certainly is your place to stay at ICW mile marker 0.....

Bathroom was quite a walk from dock and for a high end place it was 1 hole and 2 lowes showers with poor pressure. On the other hand the dock attendant was good and helpful

The floating docks are in great shape! Unfortunately, they don’t offer a weekly discounted rate and there is no security gate. Quiet during the week and very lively on the weekends.

Wonderful stay in Norfolk! Great location near lots of restaurants with a short walk or bike. Grocery was too far for us so we used InstaCart to deliver which worked out great. Dock hands and staff are super friendly and helpful. Floating docks are really nice and protected. As many reviews note, no laundry and showers are far away, but we prefer to shower in our boat anyway so that didn't bother us.

Great facility and wonderful staff. We are fully self contained so we didnt need the bathrooms or showers. The floating docks had power issues with it being wired 220 not 240 volts so they moved us to the fixed wall and all was perfect. The current does flow through there so dock at slack tide if possible. some of the best and most competent deck hands I have seen in marinas. Watched them get many boats in safely when the current was moving or the owner wasnt proficient with docking. Will be back 100% for sure. Great walkablity to restuarants as well. loved our week at waterside.

We had an excellent stay!! James and his staff were very friendly and very attentive. James personally came and moved a cleat, which was stubborn, to enable my daughter-in-law to access our boat as the boarding ladder was not an option. Excellent service, we will visit again.

This always one of our favorite stops going north and south on the ICW. There is plenty to do and always something new to see. The staff are great and very helpful.

Perfect location for so many things to do in Norfolk. We had a boat issue and called to get slip. They were so nice and said though they were pretty busy, they would find us some place to dock. Well, 3 days later we left, mostly due to bad weather but boat was ok. The dockhands were top notch. The 2 issues were: the bathhouse was far from the slip and not comfortable walking there by myself at night. And an extremely rude boat that decided to play their music incredibly loud.

First time at Waterside and we will return for so many reasons. First, the dockhands were friendly and courteous as well as knowledgeable. The docks are as close as you can get to restaurants, a waterside walking path and lots of grass for the dog to run and play. The docks are in great condition and very clean. A special shout-out to the lead dock hand, he couldn’t have been more helpful. He arranged for a cab to and from the grocery store and offered to carry my groceries! Finally, the location is perfect for walking to the many restaurants as well as historic sites.

Location and dockage in perfect location. Dock staff was great! Shower facilities could be better, one of two men's room shower has force of a misting sprayer while the other, because it's the only one usable, needs refreshing.

Waterside is the perfect place to tie up and have access to downtown Norfolk. The docks are like new, the staff is friendly, professional, and efficient. Transportation, a park, and a number of restaurants and bars are within easy walking distance. No laundry facilities and less than stellar bathroom/shower facilities were a disappointment considering the quality of everything else. Grocery stores are more than a mile away. I do recommend staying here if you don’t need what it is lacking.

Waterside Marina is a beautiful marina and the dock hands are extremely friendly and helpful, We are very happy we stayed. Walking distance to many restaurants down town. Even though we were one of the smallest, oldest boats in the marina, the staff treated us as VIPs! They provided great information on where to go and what to do, and when we dropped a phone into the water they put us in touch with two local divers and we were able to retrieve it, and it worked! The marina provided great value for the price. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend Waterside Marina to anyone. -Door Prize

Waterside Marina is a wonderful Marina, just a few blocks from downtown Norfolk. The docks are in excellent condition, and the staff is top notch. Norfolk is a nice city, with plenty of things to do, and see.

Very nice marina with great docks. All of the staff are so friendly and eager to help when needed. My only suggestion is to security gates to access tge docks. Did not have any issues with security but thought it would be a bonus to a very nice marina.

Excellent and clean faculty. Staff attentive and helpful. Great selection of restaurants in close proximity. Only drawback is long walk to bathroom.

Some of the best service I’ve seen at a marina. Right next door to Nauticus museum and summer camp. A couple of blocks from a nice downtown area. Will be back!

Nice marina and staff in a good location for downtown and fireworks for the 4th. It’s a bit tight getting into certain slips but we did ok in our 40’ trawler. Only downside is that RR and showers are a long walk and a bit beat up.

Great 4th of July. Docking with the help of the staff was the best. Asked about ice and they showed up at the boat asking "how many bags". Other marinas could take lessons.

The staff was very helpful, but the Wifi Internet did not work at all. We have stayed at this marina many times, but could never use the wifi. Please work on that. Thanks!

Would be 5 stars but bathrooms are a bit too far (no real way to fix that) and water pressure needs to be fixed in the showers and wifi needs to be stronger. Dockmasters are great, location is great.

Staff very helpful, friendly, and always ready to lend a hand

The marina is an excellent condition and the staff is always super nice. We were a late arrival, but the last remaining young lady volunteered to stay late to receive us. We said no and things but the instructions were very straightforward and we had no problems anyway.

Excellent marina. James was very professional and helpful. We came in after hours and he made it very easy with texted pictures and even follow up well after he left to make sure we got in an ok great location to walk to town and take in the Navy in Norfolk. We will be back.

Spent a night in Waterside Marina on our transit south. Excellent help docking with a stiff wind and facilities were great. Showers were hot. Really like being in the center of downtown. Bars and restaurants are plentiful with great options.

We kept our boat here for two weeks but we’re only on it for two half days. James and his team made everything super simple for us and we’re always there to help. They kept and eye on things throughout our stay.

Excellent stay. The Dockmaster, James was very attentive to needs. Wished all the docks were floating. Lots of great restaurant choices within walking distance.

Docks are terrific with helpful staff. However, the shower bathroom facility remains an afterthought. For such a nice marina facility they should rethink that area.

The positives: Liked the location. The docks at marina are nice and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The negatives: the wifi was spotty, almost nil, and the facilities are quite a walk. However, we enjoyed our stay and hope to return.

Second time staying here. Dockhands are fantastic. Shower and restrooms are a little father than I’d like but still worth the stay. Nightlife choices are endless and very close to the docks. Great place to spend the night or a few days.

Waterside Marina is a wonderful stop. The docks, power & water are great, and it is right in the downtown area. An easy walk or bike ride to Harris Teeter 1.5 miles away through the historic Ghent area. Dockmaster James and staff are truly great. Very knowledgeable on helping with lines during docking, and were checking on us when the remnants of Ian blew through. We started out with 2 nights, but ended up with 11. We would highly recommend this Marina and wonderful staff!!

LOVED IT!!! (it has now become our favourite marina - so much to see and do, brand new docks, good people AND, it's very inexpensive).

We came in for a 1/2 day to get ready for a race held on Friday Sept 9th. Great service and very clean. We will be back for sure.

We also stayed Tuesday, Sept 7th. Our stay was wonderful; the slips, docks and power/water pedestals were first class. And I can't say enough about the dockhands, they were courteous, professional and always wanted to help. The bath facilities were excellent but only had lukewarm water and were a little far to walk. Good stay overall---VERY helpful marina staff, James met us & helped with docking and made check-in a breeze. He also was prepared to do whatever it took to hook up my 29-year-old motor yacht's electrical system to their new marina power pedestals, which fortunately turned out to be a non-issue. My only issues were a lack of hot water in the showers (believe they were working on it) and a pretty loud/late partying crowd that probably comes with the Waterside location. But overall, a good trip & stay.

We will definitely stay here on our return trip South. Wonderful setting, SUPER staff, especially James, who helped us dock and was extremely helpful during our stay. We enjoyed being downtown and particularly the waterside municipal park. The only thing that could have made it better would have been a laundry facility. We walked about two miles to a laundromat. However, we received FREE transport to grocery. Uber was readily available for other trips. We HIGHLY recommend this marina. James, you are the best!

We love staying at Waterside! The docks and electrical have all been upgraded and their staff is wonderful to work with. The marina is within walking distance to everything in Norfolk! They even pay for a cab to and from the local grocery store so boaters can provision! The ferry to Portsmouth is just a few yards away as well as numerous amazing restaurants. We highly recommend Waterside for your visit to Norfolk.

A well maintained marina….great help at docking…very pleasant staff

Waterside is a great marina, particularly if you are starting a trip down the intracoastal waterway. It is located right in the downtown part of Norfolk, and it has a good seawall to shield your boat from swells from ships passing by. The dock hands are helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, when we were there, there was some sort of festival going on and the restaurants on the land side were full of teenagers. Fortunately, there are many other really good restaurants in the area: just walk up Granby Street. Luce is a few blocks up and is a very good Italian style restaurant. We didn't need fuel or pumpout services, so I can't say anything about how well Waterside does them.

Fantastic to be in the center of town. As long term livaboards it was wonderful to have every convenience so close from museums and art galleries to great rooftop bars without having to worry about your tender or taxis! Very helpful staff who accommodated our every need and have knowledge in line handling. Thank you, we will most certainly return!

Nice marina. Wish the bathroom wasn’t so far from the marina and easier to find. Really enjoyed the fireworks for the Fourth of July, but REALLY wish the marina docks were closed off to the public or monitored better by staff. Didn’t really enjoy smelling cigarette smoke and marijuana while sitting watching the fireworks since your not supposed to even smoke on the docks of the marina. Also saw people leaning on boats to watch the fireworks. But, still enjoyed our stay.

Nice marina with new dock facilities. Great deckhands who stayed past 6:00 PM to help us dock and hook up power. Restrooms/showers are fine but a little far. Major plus is nearness to parks, restaurants, mall, museums, etc. they also have a 10:00 shuttle to Harris Teeter to allow provisioning. We enjoyed our stay.

What a great experience! Waterside's location is unbeatable. It's easy walking distance to all downtown Norfolk has to offer, and there are also several restaurants on site! The new floating docks are modern with clean power and the slips are well protected. Most importantly, however, these are wonderful, experienced and competent people, both dockhands and office personnel. The staff was fully accommodating of our changing schedule as we waited for a service repair, and they gave us great references for a technician who returned our call on a SUNDAY! Don't miss this marina when visiting or transiting the Norfolk area. Highly recommended.

Great location with top shelf service.

Very friendly and attentive dock staff made our visit mostly pleasant. But friday evening, a DJ started blasting rock concert-loud music next to our slip as the marina turned into a big summer music venue for hundreds of party-goers. Our yacht is well insulated and normally very quiet inside, but that was not sufficient to stop the earth shattering bass from destroying any semblence of peace until the DJ quit at midnight.

Great location, wonderful staff but the face dock is not floating and makes boarding at low tide difficult on our boat. We moved up the river to a marina with floating docks and the Waterside dock master was absolutely gracious and allowed us to cancel the rest of our five day reservation. A great gesture that was much appreciated .

Easy 5 stars here. Marina was fully booked but I had a special situation. Seth made it work! His team is fantastic. I've done the entire intercoastal and this is by far my best experience at a marina. This will be a stop for me every year forward.

Super location. Great floating docks. And Alex and Chrissy (not sure if I’m getting her name correct) were super friendly and helpful dockhands. Also, the marina is walking distance to a bunch of really fun and good restaurants and bars. Walk to Luce and have their Wild Boar Ragu. Ridiculously good. We’ll be back to Waterside for sure.

Stayed at the marina for two weeks during questionable weather. Dock staff was attentive, friendly and quick to help with any request. It was great to have taxi service to Harris Teeter each morning for supplies. Awesome place to stay.
