JUNE

2nd   (Saturday)

Southern Maryland Sailing Association Luau

ZYC & SMSA co-sponsor a hillside gathering for SMSA members and their guests.  Enjoy an afternoon of socializing, food, and music beginning at 4:00 pm.  If you are interested in joining SMSA or thinking about getting involved in racing, this is a great opportunity to stop by and meet club members.  The event is held in conjunction with the Women’s Spring Series Races.  For more information visit www.smsa.com

Solomons Plein Air Festival

The lovely waterfront town of Solomons, Maryland is the setting for a plein air festival! If you’ve never experienced an event of this kind, consider visiting the Island for a weekend of art and entertainment.

The 37th Annual Tobacco Trail Antique & Automobile Meet at Annmarie Garden

From 10am – 2pm.  This is the main event of the National Capital Region Antique Automobile Club of America.  The meet showcases 100 plus antique and classic cars. There will be food and fun for all!  Regular admission fees apply.

An Independence Day Concert Celebration at Sotterley Plantation

From 1:00 – 4:00pm   Celebrate our Nation’s birth with a concert on the front lawn.

Solomons Fireworks

The annual Solomons fireworks display will be held on Monday, July 4th. Fireworks will be shot from a barge in the Patuxent River and can be enjoyed from the Riverwalk or by boat!  Music & Food vendors.  For more information visit www.solomonsmaryland.com

 

13th   (Friday)

31st Solomons Island Invitational - an Annapolis to Solomons Regatta

Sponsored by The Eastport Yacht Club of Annapolis.  On Friday evening, over 100 sailboats will depart from the Severn River and race to Solomons.  For more information call EYC at 410-267-9549.

 

14th   (Saturday)

Sharkfest! – Calvert Marine Museum

The Calvert Marine Museum focuses on Sharks - both living and fossilized, during its annual Sharkfest!  Touch the rough hide of a shark in the SharkPoole. Have your picture taken in the jaws of a Giant Megalodon shark skeleton. Learn the amazing facts about shark habits and habitats. Find a 20-million-year-old shark’s tooth in the Discovery Room.  The day will include fish face painting, shark crafts, displays by the Fossil Club, and shark mural painting.

20th Annual Screwpile Lighthouse Challenge

This annual event is known as one of the best regattas in the country, sponsored by Southern Maryland Sailing Association (SMSA) and Mount Gay Rum.  Captains and crew will test their skills on the Chesapeake Bay with three days of around the buoys racing.  For more information visit Screwpile’s website at www.screwpile.net

ArtsFest 2012 at Annmarie Gardens

Held from 10am – 5pm each day. $6 per person – Children 11 & under free. Members free.

Riverside WineFest at Sotterley 2012!

Annual Patuxent River Appreciation Days (PRAD)

This festival is held annually on Columbus Day weekend in Solomons from 10:00am – 5:00pm.  Take part in a festival intended to create awareness and recognition for the impact of the Patuxent River and the basin it flows through. Annual Solomons Christmas Walk

Friday 6:00pm – 9:00pm / Saturday 10:00am – 9:00pm.  Stroll along Solomons Island and enjoy the holiday spirit of candlelit streets, decorated homes, and local businesses.  There will be art, music, and a visit from Santa. Don’t miss the famous boat light parade Saturday at dusk.

Annmarie Garden - Garden in Lights

Held from 6:00pm – 9:00pm nightly.  Enjoy a whimsical walk through a holiday light display filled with one of a kind light sculptures that are custom created by the staff at the Garden. 

Garden in Lights will include golf cart tours, pet night, and special discount nights for the military, public safety workers, and teachers.
