The staff here kindly fit us in at the last second to allow us to visit family for Thanksgiving. Not only did they give us great directions to the dock, but included current direction and suggested docking directions. Once there, the staff was very responsive to any needs we had, including easy access to the fuel pumps (we were on the mega-dock), and parking passes for our car. Of course, having The Variety Store Restaurant there, as well as North Sails for our sail repair made things very convenient. The location is EXCELLENT for sightseeing downtown Charleston, which we love. I highly recommend a stay here; pricing is fair and fuel prices were great as well!
Great marina in a well protected part of Little Creek. If anything, the fuel dock can be a challenge for larger boats (40+ foot) with a single screw. Our catamaran was able to sneak in and out ok, but on a windy day, I'd probably pass on a trip to the fuel dock and get gas on the way in at Cobb. That's really the only negative I can offer - the positives? The staff are great! Everyone, from dockhands to office staff, are incredibly helpful and friendly. The marina is pretty much brand new, so they are doing their best to make it enjoyable and useful through the renovating phase. There is a laundry room (2 washers/dryers at reasonable pricing) and a converted pool locker room that offers showers and toilets. The next phase will replace the pool and pool locker room facility with even better options for socializing. While we were there, the marina sponsored a social for the cruisers, live-aboard and dry storage folks. It was fantastic, and well attended! Docks are brand new, power is solid and water quality excellent. Norfolk Int'l airport is 7 minutes away and there is a courtesy car (actually a pretty nice one, too!) for use while you stay. There are a couple of good choices for food and drinks within walking distance as well. As always, I hesitate to give 5 star ratings, as I will now have to complete with y'all for a slip!
We have been Morningstar customers for a long time, mostly staying at the Golden Isles location. This location did not disappoint as they provide the same high level of service found at the other locations we’ve gone to. The staff are friendly and courteous, the amenities are very clean and there is great potential for outdoor events at the new tiki bar and pavilion area. A nice short walk to downtown Southport takes the pain out of cooking all of the time on the boat! I (hesitantly) highly recommend this marina – only because now I know more people will come here, and we will have to book our reservation earlier!😂
Absolutely reluctant to tell how much we enjoyed our stay there, if only to make sure that we don’t have to fight to get back in! The marina staff is excellent, and the sense of community from the boaters that are there all of the time, made it a really fun place to stay. Wednesday, potluck, dinners, nightly happy hours at the tiki hut, and just a sense of everyone helping each other makes this place a great marina!
We arrived in Spring of 2022. The marina had just been rebuilt, and the WiFi was just getting started. Over the past 10 months, we have watched the staff grow the marina into a fantastic experience! The docks are amazing, with almost 12' of clearance on the pilings during King Tides. Electric is brand new and clean, water quality is very good. A few months ago they finished and installed the restroom/shower facility barge as well, which really helps. They also added a pump out boat for convenience. The restaurants on site are excellent, with choices for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and an out music bar/restaurant as well. They do get occasional wakes from he Hage Point ferry boat, but nothing substantial enough to cause concern. During high winds down the fairway against the current I saw nothing substantial in terms of wave action like you see in some marinas with a long fetch in one direction. They are adding more fuel pumps on the new transient dock. Fuel prices have been good as well. They have a lift which can handle 50 ton boats and I believe the max beam is 19 feet? They have exceptional gel coat workers there which did some work for us. They have dolphin tours, wave runners and Watersports there as well should you wish. There is a trolley stop nearby to go around the island, but the marina also has free bikes. It's about 15 minutes to the beach by bike. Overall, we love this marina, and have booked our future reservations here already, as this will become a very popular marina in the future.
I’d really give it 4.5, as the floating docks at East end are weathered, but completely useable. As always, Paul (DM) is a superstar, giving excellent instructions as to where our slip was, and being there to help. Current is not bad; maybe 1/2 knot across the docks. Hurricane Patty’s is AMAZING, and you get 10% off your meals there. Love the little outdoor bar for hanging with other peeps, as well. Laundry was adequate, 2W/2D and good pricing ($1.75 wash/$1 dry). Restrooms/showers good and clean. This place has great location as well - Winn-Dixie, West Marine, pet shop within in 1/2 mile, plus lots of eateries. Highly recommend.
Absolutely love this place! The staff are fantastic, great community feel as there are many full-time residents - at least through the warm months! Full boat yard services, including recycling for both oil and engine coolant! A perfect stop over while you get your necessary maintenance done, while enjoying the pool and various social activities. Lots to do in Solomons, within walking distance. Highly recommend; making our reservations for 2022 already!
Amazing marina! Great staff, community activities and boatyard. Love having recycling for engine fluids and batteries as well! Lots of good places to eat, post office, liquor store and West Marine all within walking distance.
Fun time here. Great pool/firepits, etc. Wish the hot tub was a bit hotter, but grateful to use it. Location is great and if you don't have a car the shuttle to/from downtown makes sure you can enjoy that. Short bike ride to the happy hours at Shem Creek. Will definitely stay here again.
