Previously named ‘Marina of the Year’ by Marina Dockage magazine, Safe Harbor Charleston City is home to the famed Mega Dock which hosts some of the most prestigious yachts in the world. As a premier boating destination, the marina’s state-of-the-art facilities and unmatched southern hospitality are merely the beginning. Van drop off and pick up is available downtown one hour after we open until 15 minute prior to closing. We offer private showers, on site mobile service, and overnight security. The world-renowned dining, shopping, and historic destinations of Charleston are only seconds away.
Really great marina. Now with the new super-mega dock it’s even nicer. Professional dockhands, floating docks, fuel in your slip and great location
Very friendly and competent staff. Tremendous facility with all of the amenities. We will be back.
Awesome Marina and staff.
Great location and the staff was great as always. One of our favorite spots.
Elizabeth Derwart, Dockmaster, has been simply awesome.
Great marina and fuel on the docks are a great convenience. Staff was very attentive and available 24/7! Great location for great food, shopping, and provisions. We will be back and will plan to stay longer!
Very nice staff and great exercise getting from the Megadock to shore! As boaters, we need that! The courtesy shuttle to West Marine, grocery shopping and town is terrific. The docks are well maintained and the marina is always clean. Looking forward to our return visit. Charleston is a great town!
Our stay was very nice. The dock hands were helpful and professional . The facility was clean and well maintained. We found a great barbecue joint the was an Uber ride away call ed Lewes's fabulous. We will be back
Staff was friendly and welcoming. Nice stay.
Dock staff were outstanding. Efficient and courteous. Courtesy van is good. Nearby restaurant is good. However for the expense it isn’t worth it. 1/2 mile just to get off the dock. Only a gas station convenience store nearby. Often bouncy.
Very helpful dockhands who know what they are doing, though the communication of slip assignment and tie information was super unclear and very last minute adding a little chaos to docking in that current. They host a Happy Hour on the dock on Tuesdays and Fridays, which was a nice way to meet other cruisers. We love Charleston and the location is great.
Great facility. Shuttle service is fabulous
what a great staff. easy going helpful. it's a big dock and can be a longbwalk but when the people are friendly it makes it quick!
I have always stopped there and will continue going back. A great Marina and staff.
As Always, Safe Harbor Charleston is one of our favorite stops along the coast The new docks are amazing and so are the staff Keep up the good work
We had an excellent stay. Staff was extremely professional. Hannah was the bomb! She gave great info and gave me a golf cart ride to their gas station so I could purchase some long needed wine. Their shuttle pronptly dropped me off and picked me up from urgent care. The showers and laundry were spotless. There is a great restaurant just outside the parking lot that we had a great breakfast at.
no complaints, all were friendly and helpful
My stay here was excellent as always . The staff are great and assist you very well. I had a lot of amazon packages coming and received them all quickly after delivery. I also had my new sail redirected to the marina and UPS even brought it up to dock office. Great deisel prices. There is a lot of super yachts and other boats to look at while walking they're massive docks . I will be coming back again .
The facilities are excellent and the staff could not be more friendly and helpful. The shuttle is great; makes getting around downtown Charleston easy.
Great location and wonderful showers/baths.
Dates: July 18 - 24, 2024 LOA: 48' Beam: 15' Draft: 3'4" The mega dock at this marina is massive. We stayed here for a week to receive some packages and reset. We were assigned a spot on the outside of the mega dock itself. In the late afternoon through early evening the current gets pretty rough and has you bouncing around a bit, but it does settle down. We had 30 to 40ft of depth under us on the outside of the mega dock. Pump outs are done via a pump out boat. As long as someone is free they can come take care of you. The laundry facilities and showers were really nice, as were the bathrooms. This marina is under construction, expanding their available slips and putting in all new floating docks. Parking is all gated, so for Walmart deliveries and Uber you need to walk up to the bus station bench by the gas station. The staff were great! Super helpful and always answered the phone. There is a shuttle that runs every hour until close that will take you anywhere downtown, and it goes to West Marine once a day. Charleston is a wonderful city and we will definitely be returning to this marina to spend more time. It was a great experience all around.
Great place and staff. Courtesy an was a plus to get to and from the hotel
Great location to stop on your trip north or south. Very nice facilities and perfect location to sample all that Charleston has to offer. A major plus is the new mega docks they are putting in to support vessels of all sizes.
Great staff and nice amenities. The free shuttle to West Marine and grocery stores was fantastic. My only complaint is being on the Mega dock was rough. The waves and wakes tossed us around every afternoon. Next time we will request a slip further in.
The staff is terrific, fueling and dock approach is convenient. We had minor trouble with the dock power and had to rely on our generator.
The staff at this marina is the difference. Very friendly and accommodating. Outside of the mega dock is a bit rough in a catamaran bit still glad we went. Shuttle to town, Saturday evening drinks, help with lines and fuel. We’d definitely recommend.
Fabulous marina with great staff. Safe Harbor Marinas are alway professionally run by well trained staff. The new docks are awesome and they are only going to get better. The place to stay!
Lots of construction for new docks.short on staff. Staff is very friendly.
Excellent facilities and services. Continuing improvements to docks. Always friendly.
Doc worker said they only had one 1 inch and a quarter diesel fuel hose for sailboats and then they said it broken. We had to sail over to another marina to get fuel. We hear that there was water in your the fuel , wasted three hours trying to get fuel.
Great stop and experienced dockhands to assist with tying up.
Very accommodating and professional. Great staff, great customer service and great location
Fantastic facilities. Great staff and dock personnel. Easy in and out. Love the Megadock!!
Excellent and professional staff, clean, safe, warm hospitality
What a great marina. Yes it’s a long walk from the water but the staff was super helpful and the shuttle was great. Some amazing boats to see as well.
Friendly staff, great shuttle to town and fun happy hour!
Marina is doing renovations. Otherwise excellent.
This is my second time staying at this marina. I decided to give it a second chance after a not great first visit. On the positive side the staff were excellent, the washroom and laundry facilities are good and clean. The shuttle to take us and the dog to town was a great service. Unfortunately I have to leave a low rating as the mega dock, that seems to be something this marina is very proud of, is terrible for a couple of reasons. If the wind is blowing out of the S/SW/W it gets very rough and our boat was smashing on its fenders into the dock. Even if the wind is not from these directions, passing boats throw lots of wake having the same effect. It was pretty miserable to be on the boat. There was space on the inside of the mega dock which would have been protected but the marina would not allow us to dock there. Another downside of the mega dock is the walk to shore, laundry, showers or office is a very long one. The marina is really just the docks and a parking lot. There aren’t any grassy areas close by to take any four legged crew members to. From my experience I would say this is an excellent spot for large vessels but not for your typical cruiser vessel of <40ft.
Friendly, accommodating team. Professionally run marina.
Great location and nice docks. I’d stay here again.
Extremely friendly and helpful Marina staff! The shuttle is a big plus! Highly recommend!
Nice marina but currently being renovated. Fuel wasn’t working when we stayed there. Showers were clean and had multiple. This marina is big so bring good walking shoes or a scooter/bike. Dockhands were very capable and friendly/polite. Would stay again.
The Staff and marina at Safe Harbor were exceptional! From the booking to arrival, Jacqueline answered every question and helped with the process. We rented the Water Suite and it did not disappoint. We will be booking it again next year! Beautiful Suite and marina!
This mega marina is awesome! While we are just a small vessel in comparison to the mega yachts, we were treated equally. The proximity to everything was great, especially with hourly shuttle service offered. The staff were very professional and helpful. My favorite marina so far!
Drew, Adam, Hannah, Ethan, & the rest of the crew could not have been more accommodating and professional! Great marina, great stay! Thank you so much. Gemini
Beautiful marina!! Dockhands were great. A lot of current and a little wind was a little challenging but made it.
Nice facility, knowledgeable dockhands, helpful shuttle into town, and convenient to downtown. We walked from megadock to heart of Charleston more than once. Only complaint is the marina is exposed to passing boat wakes. Most boaters were polite with their wakes, but there are always some who pass closely generating excessive wakes.
Great facility. In the process of getting nicer. Face dock very long. Ask to dock closer to office.
Great location and very friendly and helpful staff.
Great Marina. Friendly staff. Good communication. Always enjoy our visit here.
Excellent facility and the staff is very respectful. Absolutely wonderful, if I could give them more than 5 stars I would! They are always professional, courteous, kind and helpful, from getting gas to docking in all kinds of conditions they are exceptional. Charleston's harbor is a special place and they make it that much easier to fall in love with.
We were there looking for protection from a SW blow, and they put us on the outside of the superstructure dock. We found that we were in the chop grinding on the dock, with constant traffic and wake. There were some 100+ foot boats on this dock that seemed fine, but they should think twice about putting a 40' boat on the outside. Inside things looked fine, but we did not have a good experience here.
We should have been notified beforehand there was no fuel available! Poor form!!
Nice folks. Will be better once docks are completed and fuel is available.
They put us on the outside of the mega dock. With an east wind and outgoing tide we slammed 3 footers at the dock
Friendly staff, helpful dockhands, convenient shuttle
Great facility & amenities. Free shuttle was great.
SHCharlestonCity was exemplary! Lots of well trained, friendly and accommodating staff. Facility was clean and very well maintained. Highly recommended!
Staff was friendly and helpful. Bathrooms were super clean and smelled nice! I enjoyed the stay. So glad that there were recycling bins on site.
The dockhands were super nice and marins had just what we needed including nice showers, laundry and free courtesy shuttle to and from downtown.
Very friendly and helpful staff and a free shuttle service to and from historic downtown. We were given a nice inside slip to reduce our walk and provide some shelter from boat wakes. Bathrooms / showers top notch and very clean. Only downside is there is no gas or pump-out here. Come at slack tide to avoid strong currents.
Nice facilities. Outer tee pier was a little ruff do to hi winds.
Very helpful staff, nice docks, good service
Very helpful staff. Loved having the convenience of having the shuttle .
The marina was under construction and not well staffed, granted it was a Tuesday in January. Water pressure in showers was awful, for a marina that caters to mega yachts I expected more. Staff was pleasant but sparse.
The outside of the mega dock provides little to no protection from winds and currents. We encountered unusually high winds and sustained significant damage to our boat. Never again will I stay on the outside, even in mild conditions.
Great staff, very friendly and helpful. Safe Harbor employs the nicest people. :)
Just absolutely fabulous. Quinn, the young man and the main office did everything to make it wonderful. Thank you!
Very helpful and friendly staff. The shuttle to downtown was so convenient. We will definitely stop here again. Hannah is a great deckhand!
Great location. Nice facilities. Easy reservations. Good dock help. Thanks!
Disappointing. With just one ‘too tight’ docking space available on the fuel dock we were unable to top up.
The staff is very very good, so are the slips, and the shuttle, but the 1/2 mile walk to anything, such as food, bath house, laundry, dock office is a little rough, especially in bad weather, but it is a big marina so additional bath houses at either end would be nice in addition to a cafe or two. It all on all great
Everyone on the dock staff was most helpful. Restrooms were adequate and clean. You have to manage the tides/current which are easily observed in the fairway. The only downside was the walk from the T dock to shore but that is what it is and cannot be changed. Would certainly stay again. Legacy 48
Absolutely loved our stay at Safe Harbour Charleston. Only planned on 2 nights but since we had a breakdown, the amazing staff was more than happy to accommodate us and with the help of Ryan, the service specialist, we are back up and running. The washroom, shower and laundry facilities are immaculate. The courtesy shuttle is a welcome bonus for parts runs and provisioning! Thank you, keep up the great work and we'll be seeing you again!
Awesome! very well-run Marina, staff is great and professional. Walking distance to everything, Publix grocery store is less than 3/4 mile away, easy walking distance, most of the downtown is a little over one mile away. We went to a restaurant called Costa (walking distance .5 mile away) really good food, higher end. Come to find out you need a reservation... but sitting at the bar was amazing Julian and Lisa we're on their game and gave us amazing full service at the bar... The Marina and city are amazing and its highly recommended to check out. Cheers!
Great stop on our journey south! Everyone on staff was amazing!
Great marina. Courtesy van is a nice perk.
Great place and staff
Trey & Drew are fantastic, and their staff are exceptional. Been staying there a few years and it just keeps getting better ! GAIL FORCE
Great marina good service. Like the shuttle
The staff here kindly fit us in at the last second to allow us to visit family for Thanksgiving. Not only did they give us great directions to the dock, but included current direction and suggested docking directions. Once there, the staff was very responsive to any needs we had, including easy access to the fuel pumps (we were on the mega-dock), and parking passes for our car. Of course, having The Variety Store Restaurant there, as well as North Sails for our sail repair made things very convenient. The location is EXCELLENT for sightseeing downtown Charleston, which we love. I highly recommend a stay here; pricing is fair and fuel prices were great as well!
Once again Safe Harbor Charleston was a great spot with a very friendly and a accommodating staff.
Staff was helpful and attentive. Much construction going on.
Very nice marina, not much area for walking the dog, restaurant wasn't open. Marina staff were very helpful and professional. Once they finish the new floating piers it will be one of the best floating dock marinas we have stayed at. Can't wait to stay on our way back next spring heading north.
We just loves it! Very nice city, very nice service and staff ultra helping.
Great staff. Really helpful with docking assistance and refueling.
Our stay was good. Staff were helpful and communicated well. I am not pleased with their loop hole to exclude the transient / fuel dock from the safe harbor member program.
Good to go. Thank you.
Great marina. Staff is helpful. Easy in and out.
Absolutely amazing marina! One of the best we’ve ever stayed at. The staff are helpful, organized and competent. We wished to cancel our final day within 36 hours of departure in order to catch a weather window, and were immediately granted a full refund for that final day. Laundry is excellent. Pumpouts are dockside. The free courtesy shuttle runs hourly with return pickups available on demand. And the Tuesday Happy Hours are super fun. We can’t say enough about this marina and would give it 6 stars if possible!
They have a lot of dock space which is good, but half of it at least are old docks with limited boat protection. In fairness they appear to be replacing this section which means you are in a construction zone. Dock hand was there to help, and he did, before he had to run off to help someone else. Provided a card with some info but failed to mention needing a key fob to use the showers/laundry. Restaurant appeared to be ok, but was closed on Sunday afternoon/evening. Basement bar downstairs was run down and grungy. Biggest complaint is the men’s room needed cleaning badly (filthy/disgusting) on Friday and still wasn’t addressed by Monday, even though the inspection sheet was ‘signed off’. Facilities are nice but no where near clean and would fail city inspection. Safe Harbor can and should do much better. Compared to Beaufort SC and others I’ve been to this place just doesn’t meet reasonable expectations - yet.
Always a pleasure to stay at SH Charleston City Marina.
Great experience, staff was excellent, facilities are amazing
Elizabeth and the rest of the staff are terrific! I spent five days in the dock office working on my laptop. I was able to experience their extraordinary efforts to accommodate all vessels, and to assist all customers in every way. They worked nonstop all day long. The facilities are very nice, offering many perks! Elizabeth and the rest deserve the utmost praise!
Wonderful visit, staff was very accommodating. Look forward to the new docks and 480 power availabity.
Great Time, The dock crew are very helpful and friendly Jack Coconuts
Best marina in Charleston! They are making it even bigger also. They have a shuttle that goes to town. Close to two Marriott hotels and a Hilton hotel.
Great! All the staff are wonderful and the accommodations are first rate. Also, it’s Charleston, SC… the food was great!! 😊👏🥂
Amazed at how big this dock is. We were treated exceptionally and our stay was excellent. Great dock crew! Highly recommend
Really nice facility, nice bathrooms, and laundry. Dock hands are wonderful. But if you are a small boat, you feel really small surrounded by all the MEGA yachts. Definitely need to watch your arrival and departure times to be close to slack tide as the current is strong through the marina. Would have been nice if the closet restaurant was open later on Sunday.
Awesome experience right from the get go. Staff are super friendly and Drew went above and beyond to welcome us and assist us in finding some longer term docking as they did not have any available at this time. The location is fantastic and the amenities great. This will definitely be my our to Marina when in Charleston.
Everything was great as always. Great place for a break in traveling.
Nice marina with helpful staff. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.
We come every year... always love the staff and the welcome when we arrive. This year was no different. The dock is expanding, building out and improving so there was a lot of construction, but that did not hurt the stay. As always, Charleston City Marina rises to the occasion. Thanks for allowing us to visit for a night. Loved it.
Wonderful marina . We stayed at there water suite and loved everything about it. The top deck views and breezes were spectacular. Jacquelyn was our contact from the start and was there to greet us. Her expertise in making our stay perfect was above and beyond.
Had a great time here. Some construction going on adding a new Mega Dock, was not much of a inconvenience. Used our e-bikes to get around town and the long dock. Friendly staff and facilities were clean. Shuttle was available to town and grocery stores but we did not take advantage on our 3 night stay. We will be back!
Docks are nice and secure. But, It is a long way to shore and rough with all the boat traffic. If you have pets, there isn’t a good place to take them. However there is a small grass area. Lots of parking lot so be careful in the summer with hot pavement on their paws. Lots of big boats and they have a lot of trades if you need work done.
The marina is under construction so not everything was 100% We were on the outside dock and it was a little rocky do to wind currents and passing boats The dock hand was very helpful getting us tied up but forgot to let us know we needed a key fob for the shower It is very convenient location and would stay there again on our way back down this fall
Hannah was absolutely great! She was attentive while doing so many other tasks. She works as if she owns the place!!
Great facilities. Staff very helpful and knowledgeable.
Great location downtown. Responsive staff. Will be nicer once renovations complete.
This place is BIG! The customer service is just as big as the marina. If I started naming names, I am sure I would leave someone out – the ENTIRE staff was great. From the time we arrived to the time we departed; each person took their time to make sure things were right for us. Please understand – we asked questions to find things out, we did not just assume things. From the golf carts on the dock to help get the wife to and from the parking lot to the shuttle van running into the city (we saved a lot of money on uber fees). Excellent job folks! We will stop in again.
Top notch marina in all respects. Also, the on-site mobile service is incredible - Reid and Larry (Electrician) are both professional, helpful and friendly.
This is a large marina. You never know how small your boat really is until you are next to a 165ft mega yacht. We were on the very end of the mega dock. Quite a hike from our boat to land. Our dog was a bit disappointed in the long walk to grass. 4 stars only because of the long distance which might be a problem for some people. Request inside the dock because it is a bit rough on the outside. The staff was excellent and very accommodating. They helped with getting us on the dock and gave us rides to the parking lot when we asked. Shuttle goes downtown every hour and to West Marine once a day. We used both and there is a grocery store next to the West Marine. If you have bikes or scooters downtown is a easy ride. Construction wasn't really a big deal but we didn't see anyone working when we were there. Once they finish the construction this place will be very nice. Overall a very good long weekend. Thanks to all those that helped us out!!
Really big marina. The mega dock, where the transients are sent, is really long, busy and filled with 100+ foot charter yachts and sport fishers. Distances are huge, bicycle helpful and staff uses golf carts. Facilities well maintained. Wake on outside of mega dock can be rough so ask for inside. Current is strong, so only dock near slack. Dog grass is sadly lacking and a long walk away (quarter mile). Outside gate is a teaching hospital and busy road, not attractive for walking. Shuttle to downtown is great and saved a fortune in Uber. Charleston is a great city. Staff is great and made the visit for us. Thanks Adam, Christian, Hannah, Sara, Clay for taking great care of us.
$14 a day electric charge is a RIP OFF. PLEASE REVALUATE YOUR CHARGES!!
Dock hands were not helpful. They don’t know how to properly tie up a boat. The courtesy shuttle to downtown is nice, however one gentleman claimed he was not allowed to take me to the Publix even though it is listed in their brochure as a routine stop. The ongoing construction makes it difficult to walk around the marina.
Confusion/misunderstanding fueling on arrival which resulted in a 1.5hr delay getting secure in slip. I'm sure this was a one-time hiccup as City Marina is always spot-on
Great docks in a great location. Marina staff were helpful and professional. The rating is lower for two reasons. 1. The docks are undergoing a significant renovation and there were parts pulled up each day. While this did not unduly affect us, we do think this should be noted on the Dockwa site. 2. WiFi internet capacity was poor during our visit. The dockside antenna were right next to our boat and we had very strong wifi connections, however the connection to the internet was constantly dropping and when connected, was terribly slow - just for loading a web page or downloading a file to update charts. We expect better for this level of marina and the rates charged.
We only stayed one night but it was super easy and everyone was great
Our stay and the staff were excellent. Some of the pedestals and the water valves were in less than good condition. But they are working and making the docks nicer and from what I can see when they're done it's going to be fabulous.
Very disappointing! Always have enjoyed staying there but no one bothered to let us know that their diesel line was down so they sent me to the next marina, that buys their diesel from Charleston City Marina and was charged $1.10 more a gallon! This should not be allowed to happen and someone at Dockwa should investigate?
Highly recommended. The marina staff are very helpful and friendly. Washrooms are modern and clean. Laundry room and machines allowed for a enjoyable laundry day.... Rates are fair for this scale of establishment. Restaurant onsite, wine and spirits store close by. Just a great place all around. Cheers YOLO
In our 16 years and 26,000 nm of sailing, i have never had such an enjoyable and easy stay. The team of professionals here at Safe Harbor Charleston is incredible! They expertly handled every request, or query and even assisted us to extend our stay unexpectedly. I tip my hat to them, and cant reccomend them enough! Top notch crew, top notch facility! Thanks guys!
Phenomenal staff and courteous service. Great experience!
Great people and facility. Dock is a bit long, but I understand that they are redoing the docks.
Excellent Marina! Held packages for our arrival, great shuttle service to town, great dockhands to assist upon arrival!
Great staff, convenient shuttle service for shopping and a good fuel dock. The only negative is rough water on the outside MEGA dock
We had a wonderful stay at Safe Harbor Charleston City Marina. Great staff, willing to help with any of your needs! Downtown Charleston is a really special place to visit, with SO much to do! WiFi was the best of any Marina that we have visited in the past month!
Great dock staff, clean marina, easy bunkering!
Very good stay - dockhands good, shuttle service very convenient, facilities very good. Thanks
Excellent staff and accomadations. Being on the end of the megapier it was a long walk to the aring lot but if requeszt a cart would come and get you. The shuttle into town was great.
Excellent facilities and staff. We will be back!
Even though we were there during the renovation and expansion of their docks, the entire staff was always helpful and courteous and disruptions were kept to a minimum. The free shuttle is a great bonus for visiting Charleston eateries. Ubers are also easily available. Current is strong - plan accordingly when docking.
Charleston is a delight. The marina is close to downtown and has a free shuttle to a from anywhere you may wish to visit.
Water suite accommodations were beautiful. Loved the outside sitting area on the upper deck. Great breeze off the water and the view was terrific. It was great that we were able to dock our boat next to the suite. And the availability of the 'moke' was a perfect way for us to travel into Charleston. Great support from the staff, and all were very friendly. We definitely plan to stay again.
Least friendly and helpful marina I have ever used.
The staff went above and beyond to help us with an electrical problem when they could have simply said they were too busy. We will definitely stop again whenever we’re migrating north/south.
Very clean and efficient marina, dock workers really helpful. Will stay again if ever in Charleston.
Always make a stop there going North or Heading South, great service and facilities, Oh a stop to Lewis BBQ also helps..
We love Charleston and Safe Harbor Marina. Although we live in New Jersey we’ve spent the last 10 winters at that location. The staff is always pleasant and helpful and marina continues to make improvements to what is already a great spot.
Always great to stop in Charleston. Like this marina for the staff. Could use better wifi. Maybe that is coming with the big dock expansion underway.
Excellent! Great help at the dock.
Wonderful staff and shuttle service is a nice touch.
This marina surpassed any other marina that we stayed at! I wish I could give more stars. They accommodated us with add on days when our boat was being serviced and we waiting for parts. Our diesel technician, Larry has >40 yrs of service, truly a top professional. Loved the free happy hour on Tuesday and Friday. Restrooms & facilities were cleaned and checked by staff frequently. Office marina staff and dock hands were exceptional in customer service. Hats off to this marina!
Except for hourly shuttle into town being late one day (not a big deal), very professional staff and mgt. Always a great marina and experience.
The crew needs more training. Directed us to the outside dock port side tie. The electric station was all the way to the bow. Had to leave the dock and return for a starboard side tie. They should no better or ask. They then ran my power line across the dock and did not have a power cord dock cover to protect it. They drive golf carts at Charleston City dock and ran over the power cord dozens of times. The worst is the damage they may have caused the wires and the line is now filthy. Not a pleasant experience at all.
I arrived May 9, 2023 4pm and asked for fuel. I was assigned a dock next to a pump and because the wind (16 kts) they refused. Next morning it took 40 min to somebody come to get me fuel. Not the same service as it was before as the City Marina.
Every one was so very nice. They go out of their way to help you. Restrooms and showers kept very clean. The shuttle is such a wonderful thing to provide.
We had easy in-and-out in current on the face dock, easy fueling right at our slip, and the courtesy shuttle gave us the ability to see the sights and go out to dinner without having to figure out transportation. The dock hands and van drivers had great customer service skills. We'll be back!
Dock hand was amazing. Working hard. The issue was no power. The pedestal nearest us wasn't working and there were no other pedestals open given all the mega yachts needing 100amps with multiple plug ins. We were led to believe it was our shore power cord so we ran our generator all night (not a big deal). They did refund our electricity. We heard today from a friend who was assigned the same slip that they also had a problem but it being Monday the marina had an electrician on site and the faulty pedestal was replaced. We've had power issues there before.
Came in after a rough passage from St Augustine. They found me a spot on a T head and got us tied up in a heck of a wind. Everyone on staff was very helpfull and pleasant. This was my third visit and I will be back.
Charleston city is always a great stay. The staff was friendly and efficient. Location is excellent
SHCCM was accommodating as always. We had to stay an additional night without prior notice & the crew at SHCCM managed to find a spot for us. Thank You to all the wonderful crew at SHCCM! Capt Michael
One of our favorite place to stop. Great Marina and good service. Only one point to complain, the cost of electricity is at $25/day for a 50amps plug, this is too expensive. It should be $10 or maximum $15. My opinion...
Great location !! all deck hands were great! We enjoyed our night as transients! Thank you
Dock hands/employees are all very competent, extremely helpful and polite. Always a great experience at the Mega dock.
Fantastic facility and staff. Could not have enjoyed my stay more.
Great place , very friendly staff, close to town, fantastic fun at Tuesday’s and Friday happy hour
City of Charleston was great. Staff at the marina were very nice and helpful. Bathrooms were spacious and clean. We were on their “Mega Dock” which is a very long (quarter mile?) pier. Only complaint is that it can be a very long walk to both the restrooms and land. Luckily they allow bicycles and scooters on the pier. Overall a nice stay.
Great Dock Staff - very friendly!
Showed up on Race week and they were very busy, but professional. Nice place, clean and well run. Dock hands were great.
Wonderful hospitality from dock staff and very accommodating for me. Although never stayed at this marina before gave concise instructions and had a dock hand there for Big Gurl! (who was likely the smallest Gurl at the dock!)\n\n
Stuck on the outside of the mega dock on a Saturday. Locals don’t observe no wake , wind and seas on the beam, very uncomfortable. It’s a half mile from land! Saved by courtesy golf carts. Never again!
Unlike most safe Harbor properties this facility does it right. With the exception of the ridiculous dockage fees this staff has kept it’s principals. Hat’s off to Trey and his staff and the over engineered remodel might be excitingo
Stayed on the outside of mega dock. Easy tie-up in 15kt NE winds with dockhand assistance. A bit rocky with wave action and wakes that died down at night. Washrooms and showers are clean, staff available and helpful. Would stay again.
One of our favorite marinas. The staff are solid professionals and always helpful!
Great experience! Professional dock hands and friendly staff. Love the Mega Dock! Thanks.
The staff are amazing and helpful. Always there to lend a helping hand or pick you up when you call. Looong dock and tough on the outside for anything under 50’ or a sailboat. Enjoyed our 2 days.
A fantastic marina, the staff are amazing They are always available for help with lines, a shuttle ride, info about the local area, just great people and a beautiful, clean marina
We had a fantastic experience here. Upon arrival we met a Navy veteran dockhand who was very impressive. I have never seen ropes thrown and tied so well. We needed our engines serviced and that was taken care of professionally (thank you Connor & master mechanic). Hanna was super nice and delivered me to shopping and back to the boat with my packages. We stayed during very strong winds and several dockhands came to check on us and make sure we were happy. When we left we needed fuel and pump out in the rain but all was done with a cheerful attitude. The team here is outstanding!
Great marina! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Perfect location near downtown. The marina shuttle also includes West Marina and downtown. Will visit again.
Outstanding service by Jackie K and everyone at Safe Harbor Charleston City Marina. We stayed in one of the water suites - these are top notch. Awesome having the free shuttle into town and restaurant on site. Great location - awesome views. We’ll be back!
Top notch service with a smile. We stayed 3 nights and were well taken care of. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Mobile service department is tops!
We love staying here when we travel thru the area. The dock hands are the best. Clean restrooms and showers. Thanks !!!!!!
Great marina. Dockhands are excellent, very efficient, which is great with currents you can see here.
First class marina and facilities. Great dock crew! Always available and responsive to your needs. The only place I’d stop in Charleston.
I was fortunate enough to be able to stay here for an extended visit due to weather. The marina was able to accommodate me on short notice and provided all the amenities you could need. I will definitely recommend them to friends!
Get services and an excellent location. They were very accommodating and got us in a day earlier than originally planned. Maybe as a Safe Harbor Marine they should at least give we members a discount even on their blackout dates. Not sure that I received my 50 cent a gallon discount on fuel.
Very well maintained marina at convenient location. Much less motion than Charleston Harbor Marina despite being located on the outer face dock.
Dock staff really helpful. Good showers and laundry. Hourly shuttle to any where in downtown
Excellent in every way!
The crew at SH Charleston City is always efficient, ready to help, personable, and pleasant. The reservation was quickly confirmed, the management team confirmed arrival and were ready when we arrived. Tied up, fueled and everything attended to promptly. Always very pleased with the service at SH Charleston City.
It’s a large mini-city Marina with many services/amenities.
Good dock, good service. Thanks for hosting us on a short notice.
Great docks, great location, great staff. What else do you need. Thank you for a wonderful stay as always. Another great stay. The harbor team are experienced and great. Thank you, we will be back
Excellent docks ( Mega Dock) and staff. Diesel too pricey though.
Clean, efficient well run marina. I’d come back any day
We had the most wonderful weekend! \nThe accommodations were so nice. We loved the time on the deck. Having use of the Moke was so fun and convenient. Staying on the floating suites was one of my favorite experiences in all of my travels. \nJackie was our contact and host. I can not say enough wonderful things about her!! She was amazing to work with. So friendly, helpful and her energy was great! She was just as excited as we were. She went and got balloons, dessert & champagne to surprise my friend that we came with. We weee celebrating her 60th birthday. We can not wait to come back again and again!!
We had a terrific stay at this well run marina. Dock hands were great for handling lines and getting our power and water set up when we arrived. The shuttle service is a very nice perk. We arrived back at the dock by Uber one night and as we walked through the parking lot one of dock hands was in a golf cart and offered us a ride back to our boat. We gratefully accepted as we were docked at the end of the mega dock, quite a hike, especially at the end of a long day. We will be returning very soon to stay at this marina and enjoy more of Charleston.
This marina is run very well. They do everything they can to accommodate you. They are expanding the marina but at this point it hasn’t affected their ability to provide anything. They have a service department that can provide most anything you may need. The walk from the end of the mega dock is long but good for you. Make sure you have adequate fenders, it can be a little rocky. Location can’t be beat.
Everything was just as promised, we had a lovely stay
Great marina. Dock hands were helpful getting boat in slip and tied up. All the facilities were clean and worked well. Service department also a big plus, as is the shuttle service and location. Will definitely think about staying here again should we pass by.
This is one of the best run marinas we have ever stayed in. The staff is professional and friendly, the docks and facilities are well maintained, and the location is excellent for enjoying all Charleston has to offer. We booked a future stay before we left.
Excellent Marina, highly professional personnel, good availability of multiple services and maintenance options. Definitely a good stop while navigating north or south bound the east coast.
Facilities are first class, the water suites are marvelous and the staff is exceptional.
Charleston City Marina is awesome. Dock staff is awesome. Kudos to the Dock hand Ralph. Great personality, very attentive, and runs around and gets all done. Also a hats off to Middleton, the shuttle driver who went above and beyond. I was his last pickup of the night, and he helped me lug my provisions down to the boat. Great group of people.
The staff was attentive and friendly. 4 nights...Love this place....very classy
100% GREAT marina. Dock hands are all helpful, professional and courteous. Mega Dock is very long but I was happy to get the steps in after being on the boat. Courtesy shuttle is invaluable getting to / from the walkable parts of the historic district and Publix. Golf cart transport available for moving those supplies to dockside from the parking lot. Showers & laundry are clean and modern. In short, everything was wonderful !
Great place great location. Everyone was very helpful. Our second time staying and definitely will stay again
This was our first and likely our last visit. The staff are all courteous and very helpful and the bathrooms and showers are clean. But...we prefer smaller marinas. The MEGA docks are just not our style. Walking nearly a half mile in the hot sun to get your dog to a "parking lot" to do his duty and then back again is not much fun. We did lots of walking from our boat to great neighborhoods and the historic downtown areas, but the major road that separates the marina from these areas is not pedestrian friendly. Seems like a great place for mega yachters who have all their personal amenities aboard (pools, showers, laundry, spas, etc) and can afford taxis to go everywhere - but that's not us!
Nice accommodations. MegaDock is enormous. Very long walk from the parking lot. Office staff and dock staff very helpful and friendly
Excellent service all around, as usual. Dockhand Hannah is awesome!!!
Clean Marina. Great staff. Dock help awesome!! Great location. Captain Sharkey
Great location, facility and staff. We stayed on the mega dock and had some wakes to deal with, but not too bad. Charleston is a great town. Marina offers a courtesy shuttle. I would stay again.
Great stop even for a small 42ft sailboat! Staff was professional and efficient exactly what you need in a transiting marina. Wish I could have stayed longer
was happy with most everything. in the past the shuttle would take us less than 2 miles away
Arrived to find I had mistakenly booked at another marina. VHF Sarah had me a good spot in just minutes and the other staff had me tied up and ready to take advantage of Charleston City Marina's other great resources. Good stay!
Great service and amenities. Van service. Happy Hour.
Great place. Wonderful staff. Dockhand John is very good.
Very good and professional marina with friendly and helpful staff. But if you are assigned to their floating megadock be sure to bring a folding bike, e-scooter or such as it is a real hike to the facilities (nice) and shore - though they will pick you up in a golf cart if necessary.
Always love staying @ the Mega Dock. Convenient location & attentive staff.
Professional. Clean and convenient. Shuttle to town was an unexpected bonus.
Just Ok. This is a very busy Marina. The people are nice but they are so short staffed. As a smaller boat (44’ cat) we wedge dwarfed by the Mega Yachts there. VERY long walk from boat to marina services and equally long walk to town. We were on the outer dock on the river ans we’re bumped and slammed with waves constantly and our fenders had to be monitored
Would give it a 5 star for location, service and convenience to downtown. Courtesy shuttle helped a lot. Only problem if you are docked on the outside of the Mega Dock your boat never stops moving were there for 3 days only time the boat was not rocking was midnight until 6am.
Fantastic dock hands and plenty of bathroom/shower capacity. We were on the inside of the mega dock which was very comfortable, but I would not want to stay on the outside of the mega dock unless I was in a mega vessel. Specifically request inside or “protected” slip or you will be rockin’ and rollin’ and I don’t mean at a bar in town…you can do the latter from either side of the dock.
Terrific amenities and wonderful staff. We will definitely stay here again. The only concern we had was that, as a relatively small, lightweight boat, we'll request inside dockage next time we stay. We got tossed around a bit on the outside of the mega dock.
Helpful staff, nice facilities. Appreciated the free shuttle. Issues with the pump out service was disappointing. Being on the Mega dock is great for viewing the variety of boats passing by but there are an awful lot of discourteous boaters on the Ashley River. Starting at 5:00 am until dusk, there was nearly constant rocking from the boat wakes.
All staff were very professional, friendly, eager to assist. Sarah, Gloria, Rives, Connor, shuttle bus drivers, and others. Facilities were clean and very nice.
Great marina! Baths and showers, super clean. Dock hands super helpful. They even offered a shuttle to the local west marine at 11 am. Very accomodating
Great location and facilities! We were lucky to get a spot during Race week. Highly recommend
The marina is in a great location, the staff is great, but the outside of the mega dock is like a bouncy house if your boat is small like ours (48', 30,000lbs). It is non stop getting waked.
Great facilities. Loved staying here and of course Charleston is a great city. Marina provides a courtesy van which takes you where you need to go and is very attentive throughout your stay. Terrific dockhands. They work so well as a team!
The staff was great! Two minor gripes. Not having two "fobs" to get into the showers is a real pain, forcing the people on board to shower at the same time. Limiting to one per vessel seems stingy. The second is more structural in natural. Having to back in (or out) of a potentially long fairway is obviously more difficult for some captains than others. Adverse current or wind could be a real problem. It would be great if they could work on getting the "dead end" fairway just inside the "megadock" open at both ends
Clean facilities with a free shuttle to downtown Charleston. Wifi was also good.
Had a great time, Mega a dock was very friendly/helpful people.
Very nice, yet busy, Marina. Staff is very helpful. Nice facility with extra benefits like the free shuttle into downtown.
Great helpful staff especially Hannah, doing office, van and pump outs! The facilities were clean, and complete, but a little inconvenient. There was a long walk to the shore, a key necessary to reach the showers and laundry, no boaters lounge, which was disappointing. But docks were impressive in size and good condition. The big mega dock is exposed to western storms.
Wonderful marina, great location, great facilities, very nice touch to have the shuttle to drop you off in town, dockhands available 8am-6am, just odd not to have someone there In the morning at sunrise.
Great marina and the staff are fantastic!
Always have a fun time in Charleston and the Mega Dock is a great stop. Friendly staff and great service.
Great staff and facilities; about a mile or so to historic Charleston with a shuttle provided.
Always professional although a little bumpy on the outside mega dock. Our first time to the little bar at the top of the dock (Salty Mike's). Too tired to walk or ride into town so perfect for us
Very nice staff. Clean and well lit. A lot of bigger boats but serves well to take a tour and see how the the other half live. Quiet except for a little wave slap on the hill when somebody speeds by. Transient slips are all on the outside wall. Occasionally a small wake will softly rock you to sleep. No problem Will be back in March. Great restaurants nearby. Good Uber spot.
Great marina! The staff is ready to help catch lines, cast off, move a boat, or drive you almost anywhere on the hourly shuttle. The shuttle makes a trip to West Marina daily at 11:00. This is a very well run marina. The mega dock is… mega long. We used our bikes for trips to the showers or to the shuttle. Charleston is a wonderful city. A stop not to miss. Thank you Safe Harbor City! I hope we will be back someday. Scott and Tris GREEN EYES
Great location, friendly and helpful staff. Very safe place. Current can be strong, so docking at slack times is recommended.
Great staff. The facilities are getting upgrades everywhere, so I can't wait to see what it looks like next season! Definitely don't overlook the Marina Variety Store Restaurant. Deliciious!
Great marina and staff, was very accommodating finding me a place when we extended our stay 3 times due to a storm that would not go away.
Stayed 4 days on the "Mega Dock". Marina crew was courtous, knowledgable and helpful! I would stay here again!
It was nice to be secure during the Nor'easter. Dock crew was the best. Very friendly and helpful. Staff at the office was also great. Nice showers and a place walking distance for a beer and a burger.
We always stay here and find it very convenient to downtown Charleston. Bathrooms are always clean and employees very helpful. We enjoyed the new addition of a cocktail party on Tuesdays and Fridays, which was well attended and a great way to meet people! The only criticism is that I wish Safe Harbor would offer recycling. The amount of beer and White Claw cans in the garbage after the cocktail party was staggering. And I had a bag of recyclables from our boat with no place to dispose of. With Safe Harbor buying up so many of the existing marinas, it would be nice if they offer recycling.
Great docks. Friendly and Professional staff. Great location, well protected and close to downtown.
Great people and service! Great location! Great facilities!
Great customer service. Clean bathrooms. Excellent stay!!
Stay here every time passing through. One of my favorite marinas. The staff, location and service center are great!
Enjoyed visiting charming Charleston! Marina staff were very friendly and accommodating! Having shuttle was awesome! Will definitely stay again!
Traveling with a group of 8 boats, we had a wonderful stay at the marina. The staff was helpful and professional and we really appreciated Cameron for the time he took to show us some great spots to visit in Charleston. The shuttle was perfect when we didn't want to walk and the bathrooms and showers were clean. We will definitely return!
Took a trip up from Beaufort, SC and stayed a couple nights. Not our first visit to City Marina and as usual they did not disappoint. Friendly and helpful dock staff and the docks and facilities are always in tip-top shape. I am glad they still have the shuttle that will take you anywhere downtown during the day and pick you up with a phone call. We stayed on the outside of the megadock so coming and going was easy peasy. We have docked inside before, we just don't try to come or go on the inside when the current is really ripping.
One more great stay at Charleston. Great marina staff . . .
Thanks so much. Our boat was perfectly safe docked at the marina. We felt comfortable leaving items on the boat when we were not there. I would definitely use Safe Harbor marina again.
Great staff and free shuttle rides need I say more!
Spent another week on the mega dock. The team on the docks and in the office were amazing, helpful, and just generally perfect. We got lucky and were on the inside of the mega dock, but weekends seem to have deteriorated since our last stay there. Lots of puddle pirates dragging big wakes (including wake boats) seeming to be competing for biggest bounce out of the boats in the marina. During the week it was very nice. All in all a great stop.
The staff is terrific…friendly, helpful, & so pleasant! Bathrooms & laundry are clean. Great location to be a tourist!
We’ll done , and very accommodating for our 9 boat flotilla.
It is a large marina and we had a fleet of 10 boats arriving at once. It was a little confusing getting directions to our space, but other than that, it was a great experience. Good dockhands and terrific facilities.
As usual a nice stay. We actually stayed and extra day.
Staff and Hanna, shuttle driver, are great. We had no wifi on dock J. Marina is no big for just the one shower and bathroom area. The reason I say this isn’t the number of units but how far a walk it is to get to especially when you are 70years old.
VERY helpful staff! Clean restrooms and showers. Convenient to town. Never used the shuttle but nice to have it available!
Great staff with great attitudes. Did not matter if you were a 40 ft or a 150 fr they treated you the same
Overall, it was a good stay. We were there for four days. The courtesy van was a great help. Facilities were clean and very easy to access. People were friendly, Staff were good. My only complaint was the pompous service does not start until after 9 am. I was not advised of that issue and waited until 9:30 with no success. Had to leave without pumping out. I would be better to know ahead of time that their schedule is restricted.
Overall my stay was very good. However, the person in charge of guiding me to my slip assignment was very poorly suited to give directions even though I had stayed there at least a dozen times. The base wifi was totally lame. Locked up all the time and was extremely slow at best. Facilities and van service are always a plus when staying at Charleston City Marina.
This marina is exceptional. The mega dock is an ideal place to dock with a brand new floating dock and breathtaking views. The staff are friendly and helpful. The marina is clean and tidy as are the bathroom, shower and laundry facilities. Also a great distance from downtown Charleston which you can get to by walking, by bus and they have a nice big secure carpark. Thank you for your hospitality - Dean & Alka Bromiley
Stayed one night. The 50 amp circuit provided power to only one half of our boat. Confirmed to be problem with marina pedestal. Marina credited us for electric the next day. Dock master said they would send someone down to the pump out to help us with dock lines. After waiting 15 minutes, no one showed up. You get the point.
Very friendly and easy marina. Professional, attentive staff. Will definitely make Charleston City my “go to” marina in Charleston.
If you are a catamaran or any boat below 60 feet, they will put you on the outside (typically) and you will break the waves for all the other boat. They put us in the last slip (closest to the coast guard station) on the mega dock. This is the worst slip in the entire place and it is where they usually put the catamarans and per the dockmaster, they do that only because it is easier (whatever that means). They should put catamarans on the north side (closest to the bridge) or inside near the turning basin. Instead they reserve that for charter yachts which during our stay were mostly transiting to the north east. These charter yachts don’t typically have the owners on them and the crew could care less where they put them as they use the marina dock hands to deliver all their groceries and ferry them down the dock. Where they put you is a 15 minute walk down the dock just to make it to the parking lot. The dock is so long they actually have advertisements near the gate like billboards. After complaining several times about the outside dock for 2 days, they finally moved us inside. We had already reserved another marina and wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. It’s a good thing they moved us inside as when we were leaving to go to the other marina, we saw a small derelict boat that had dragged anchor and floated into the two catamarans at the end right where we were. Absolutely no protection in this marina on the outside and it isn’t a slow no wake zone. The dockmaster seems to have no actual boating experience and I’m pretty sure she has never actually docked a boat herself. In fact the longest a dockhand has been here was 1 year per several that I talked to and most had been there less than 3 months. All of them seemed miserable, but very polite. They could use some training as 1/2 of them I saw try to the line opposite to the current first and also don’t seem to know what locking down a line is. I talked to a maintenance guy that had been there several years and he said this is the worst the marina has ever been managed and complained the general manager was always out sick and never wanted to come to work. Also the dockmaster was miserable and didn’t communicate well. Pluses Courtesy shuttle - although I don’t think any of the dock hands driving it have a CDL which is required by state law. Decent WiFi Dockhands very polite Convenient Fueling - Several pumps on the mega dock Negatives Very rolly and unprotected on the outside Dockhands are not trained Mismanaged Pricey Lots of diesel fuel in the water from the fueling boats They stack the boats in really close The water pressure on the dock is terrible and it takes forever to wash down your boat.
Love the fuel at your slip and the shuttle service to and from downtown. Ethan was great.
Wonderful friendly marina with everything you need!! Location is great for seeing Charleston. Free shuttle service available from the dock to town! Waterfront Restaurant, liquor store, gas station convenient store all within walking distance!
We're 43 feet and always end up on the mega dock!! This time it was 1/2 mile to the bathrooms. A little far for a smaller boat on the mega dock.
Friendly staff unfortunately every time we stop at this safe harbor we can’t use our free nights. Too many restricted months.
Very large marina, convenient to everything Charleston SC. Current is strong and if the wind comes from the south, you want to be on the other side of the breakwater. Lots of boat traffic.
Marina office was very accommodating, particularly with an approaching storm and many requests for dockage. Dockhands were extremely helpful upon arrival. Restrooms/showers are clean. Shuttle into town was terrific! Our dog had many boaters to flirt with along the 1550 ft. mega dock! (Very dog friendly marina.) Publix not too far away for anyone needing to reprovision.
No pump out available after 7:00 pm. We arrived at 6:45 and were told to wait. We changed our plans to leave later in the morning. We were told in the morning that they couldnt do a pump out for another hour after they opened. So much for the fantastic experience of the megadock.
Cody in the office was great and their on site boat wash and repair facility did a great job.
The staff are wonderful! The dock is perfect. They need a dog lawn area. Charleston is a great city however it doesn't connect to the marina without the shuttle.
Helpful and knowledgeable staff. Great location with historic area and parks close by. Pretty views from the boat.
The staff were superb! Don’t ignore the current. It is very manageable as long as you think about it ask for help and make a plan coming and going.
It might be a megadock, but they treat you like family. From the knowledgeable dock hands, to the daily trip to West Marine, to the bus that goes downtown every hour and Publix on demand, this harbor is first class. You'll get your steps in with the long docks, but it's helpful staff make it a great stop. Not to mention, the Charleston Yacht Club is next to the marina.
Marina staff was outstanding, working to accommodate our last minute questions/needs. Great location for exploring Charleston. Well kept facilities, courtesy shuttle available, they even have recycling.
Excellent staff and facilities. Only drawback was that it was sloppy on the outside of the mega dock
Great, very helpful staff. A bit of a walk to the majority of restaurants but probably the best marina spot in Charleston.
The team at Safe Harbor Charleston City is always top notch, extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They are great with helping you find your way around a very large and busy municipal marina, helpful with fueling, and docking. We will keep returning to this marina. It would be helpful if they could find a way for Ubers or Taxis to pick up closer to marina, as you must walk and coordinate for pick up at a BO Station nearby. Not a big inconvenience, but would be a nice improvement on a great marina.
Love this marina! Close to the city and well maintained. The staff is super helpful and will do anything to make sure we have what we need! Like that they greet us upon arrival. Excellent!
Staff was extremely helpful, and facilities are clean and well maintained.
Excellent, as always!
Nice place, clean restrooms, good restaurant on property close to the inlet, friendly staff!
We stayed overnight on our way south. It was everything we needed. Would stay again.
The Charleston City Marina is always awesome!!
Absolutely fantastic marina and beautiful city!
Top notch professional staff. Everyone was so helpful and knowledge in every aspect of the stay.
Massive facility with great docks and high-speed fuel. It is at the downtown area so it is quick to access all that Charleston offers.
Great place, very nice people. We’ll be back.
Beautiful The dockhands were exceptional that helped us. Very friendly and helpful. You have gentlemen working there, well mannered and it is truly refreshing. Thank you 😊
Excellent marina but can be bounced at times
We were put on the outside of the mega dock and it was rocking all night long due to Harbor traffic. We were told there were no other slips available.
Love this place! Seeing all of the magnificent yachts is like going to a boat show. They have their services completely dialed in.
Fantastic location....easy walk to downtown Charleston. Staff was very attentive. Wonderful mobile repair service. And very clean, well maintained marina. Definitely will come back.
We arrived early 1 AM, there was somebody to greet us and help with a line. Awesome service, clean and nice
Great Marina close to town and great staff will visit again
Great marina. We really enjoyed our two months there. The staff was super helpful, the marina is clean and in good repair. We were on the mega dock and only occasionally did we notice the wake of passing boats. Many good restaurants are within walking/biking distance. The airport is about a 15 minute drive and easy to get in and out of. I am looking forward to spending some time there in the future.
All great but was not able to use electric scooter to go to and from parking lot to boat which was half a mile away for shore. we are all adults and were ride as slow as they could go (slower than a bicycle). I know there is cart service but no one wants to want for a ride and pay every time. staff and everything else was great as usually.
Great group of folks with well maintained facilities.
Sailing Catamaran - 44' X 25' X 4' We stayed here for a couple of nights on our way north along the US East Coast. This was an interesting stop for many reasons. Trey, the Dockmaster, seemed great; but I never actually met him in person, since reservations are easy (and COVID-19 safe) on Dockwa! This is a very busy marina, with traffic going in and out all the time. I tied up our 44 foot sailing cat in a 60 foot space between another cat and a motor yacht on their "Mega Dock" - They pack 'em in tight! The Mega Dock was a convenient place to tie up for a couple of nights, especially since diesel was available right there where we tied up. There is a lot of chop from the Ashley River traffic, though. There's a great little general store nearby, along with a gas station, liquor store and wine store among other vendors. There's only diesel at the dock, so this nearby station is important if you need gas. Laundry and shower facilities are small, but nice. Dryers are large industrial ones, so you can do a couple of loads of wash in one dryer. There's a nice Publix a bike ride away, but it's not exactly convenient. Downtown Charleston is about a 20 minute walk from the marina.
Dock hands were great. Long walk to get out of the marina.
What an awesome group of people! Everyone interacted with had an awesome attitude and went above and beyond. Clean facilities. Its obvious the city, but most importantly the employees care about their marina. I will definitely be coming back!
Great Marina! Staff very helpful! Current is very strong there so be prepared.
Great facility, but water is a bit rough on the outside of the MegaDock for smaller boats.
No problems is all I can say with all the social distancing. Dockwa works however since we don’t check in we don’t automatically get gate and restroom codes. That could come with our welcome email. Marina spotless, dock hands helpful if overwhelmed. I’ll be back.
Great except for passing traffic that didn't obey the no wake signs.
Facility is clean and friendly. Dock personnel are very helpful. Being on the outside of the mega dock in the high current and boat traffic wake area gets bouncy.
We enjoyed our 3 day stay at this first rate marina. Staff was friendly and attentive, facilities and the docks were in great shape. We docked alongside the mega dock and it was easy-in and easy-out. This is the place we will come whenever we visit Charleston.
Stayed on inside face of mega dock and was a fairly calm stay, minimal wind while we were there. Staff was very attentive and facilities in great shape. Restrooms clean and good shape. Good place to walk, or they will get you on a golf cart. Shuttles to town.
We spent 20 days at Charleston City Marina after we lost our anchor at the anchorage across from the marina. (Don’t anchor there.) The bathrooms, showers, and laundry are clean and well maintained. The docks are excellent. There is a restaurant on site that has been there since 1963. It serves great food all day at a reasonable price in an informal setting. There is a daily shuttle to West Marine and the shuttle will take you anywhere in downtown Charleston. But the best thing about this marina is the staff. They are terrific. They are always ready to help and are very friendly and approachable. We had some bad weather while we were there and the staff was right with us helping to adjust fenders when needed and even loaned us a couple for the duration. We had a staff member helping us at 4:30AM one morning! It’s Charleston so the dock fees are pretty high. But, you do get a great facility and great staff for your money.
Very friendly and courteous staff!! Great marina. Complimentary ride to and from downtown! Will be back!
Stayed on the facedock here — friendly & helpful staff, Docks in good conditions, and glad the fuel dock was open as early as it was!
This marina is a delightful stop. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The shuttle is great and then there is Charleston... Great restaurants, a great grocery store close by and wonderful boat watching! Awesome place!
Had a non-functioning bow thruster in Osprey Marina in South Carolina. Phoned ahead to Chris, the Charleston City Sage Harbor Marina mobile service manager. He arranged a tech to meet me upon arrival the next day. The tech diagnosed the issue and they ordered parts. Parts arrived overnight and the tech along with a diver (Josh from “PC/DC”) installed the next day and I was on my way. Fabulous response and service. Highly recommend this outstanding mechanical and technical service.
it’s not cheap but it’s a great marina great facilities laundry and showers are excellent and very helpful staff
Wonderful facilities, shuttle service into downtown areas. Able to find competent mechanic for engine water pump problem-- work was done quickly and efficiently. Although dog-friendly with treats in the office, areas to walk the dog are limited.
Excellent service. Chris Ruhling was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. And the entire staff deserves to be complimented on their excellent customer service. So glad we stopped here on our way down the ICW from Connecticut to the Bahamas.
Very friendly staff as always. Lovely place to stay.
Always good. Great facilities and and great city
An excellent location, good facilities and a courteous and helpful staff make for a pleasant stay. Staff was great getting us into a tight slip inside on day-1, then most accommodating to help us move to the Mega Dock on day-2 for an easier departure the following morning. Shuttle rides to downtown, Harris Teeter and other stops are available most days and evenings.
Very friendly staff. Facilities are impressive!
The marina was accommodating and worked with us to get our trawler into a very tight spot. I recommend the marina, however the outside face dock can be bouncy due to wind and wakes.
Really attentive people-clean, well organized and well located. Kudos to Adam who saved us when a dockline came loose at night during an intense high tide when tied up to the fuel docks. Highly recommend!
A dock hand helped us the first day when we pulled up only. They acted like they didn't know what to do and never saw them after the first day. When buying ice we were handed the key to the ice chest and was told were it was by the lady behind the counter. There was no other assistance offered. Not even to help unlock it knowing we were buying multiple bags. Kinda made us feel like if we wasn't on a yacht we really didn't matter. On a plus note, the restrooms and bath house was very nice and kept well cleaned.
One of my favorite Marinas because of location, security. And service
Great facility and helpful staff, on site maintenance group that was helpful and works Saturdays.
This is our fifth visit to Charleston City Marina, and first since it was bought by Safe Harbor. We absolutely love this place and the location cannot be better. But the service has declined. When we arrived, the dockhand didn't know how to tie a cleat hitch. Then when we moved to another slip, docking assistance was not available when we wanted it. A few times there was no TP in the loos. The docks are getting quite tired and need attention. The wifi is hit and miss. It worked fine on H dock after two calls to Beacon, then on Y dock it was intermittent. First world problems, but when you are paying first world prices, one should get first world service.
Nice, modern marina. Friendly, accomodating staff. Full service. Fuel at slip on mega dock. Shuttle service. However, long, long walk to office or restaurant. TERRIBLE WiFi...download 0.1 mbps. After hour on phone with service provider..gave up. They shoehorn boats VERY close together...bring your best docking skills, especially if between 2 boats already there. Been there twice...probably not again. Prefer Patriot’s Point.
Using Dockwa was simple, efficient and had a very good response time from request to confirmation....however....our dock assignment upon notification from us on arrival time was for a monohull - not the first time using Dockwa where the information that we are requested to fill out (LOA, Beam, Power, etc. was not conveyed to the marina). The staff worked quickly to rectify that, but upon arrival and approach to the proper berth, we were told it wasn't available and to stand-by. We ended up with the very last outside spot on the Mega-Dock (SE corner)....which seemed to be fine at first. Although boaters passing by did respect (somewhat) a courtesy "no-wake" zone near the docks, the large sport fishers came up to the edge of the mega-dock at full wake speed and only then dropped to fast idle - no consideration for their built up wake and its effect on the boats at our end of the floating dock. Thought a couple of those were going to rip out our cleats out as we heaved out of synch with the dock....no fault of the marina, again, good staff and they did offer to move us if we wanted....just a warning to any other transients that might get assigned to that end of the dock. Facilities were nice, although they hadn't started up their periodic "Happy Hour" nights yet "this season"- one of the reasons we liked coming to this marina. We will certainly return here, but be more selective (if allowed) on our berth location next time.
Mega competent and responsive staff. Compliments all around. Special kudos to Chris for arranging and consistently following up on a couple of service needs. For those side tied on the outside, wakes are a problem when the police are not present - hard to blame the marina for inconsiderate boaters, though - so a five star experience for us in spite of that annoyance.
Great Marina for a weekend stop. Lots of restaurant choices and sports bar with gigantic big screen. Live entertainment was also very cool. Only thing that could be an improvement is a laundry facility or option for boaters... Had a great time. Capt. T. Lyons
Dock staff was very attentive to my needs. They got me into the dock early so we could begin enjoying the city. Naomi connected me with a great crew to go to North Carolina. I got help onto and off of the dock in a very timely manor. The showers and heads are well maintained and clean. The shuttle service to town and over to West Marine was great. One of the best marina experiences I can think of...
Great facility, helpful and friendly staff. One suggestion - post a slip map on your website, it will make it much easier to those coming in for the first time.
everyone was very helpful and service was prompt
Employees very helpfull and kind. And we are rather near the historic town.
Use to love this marina but lately the service is lacking. They had me and two other boats circling for nearly a hour because nobody could be bothered to answer the radio or phone. Shuttle to town was cronically late by 20-30 minutes to the point we had to use Uber. WIFI very slow. Ok for a dollar a foot but unsat for premium prices.
Excellent marina, able and accommodating dockhands. Office called me the day before to confirm and inquire about arrival time. Good wifi and very nice bath facilities. Perfect spot for the total eclipse!
