This Marina was one of our favorite destinations up until about 2 years ago. The Marina has been poorly managed and under staffed our last 2 trips, but this trip was clearly the worst. Management has one person working on a Saturday to manage the phones, dock security (Daytime only. There is a phone number to call after hours), and assisting incoming boats! 10 STARS TO AUSTIN WHO WAS GREAT but clearly overworked! I recently met a 2020 season slip holder who has left the marina for another marina due to being understaffed all season. They told me there was no staff or security all season and the dockside pump out service ended because the equipment was vandalized and the marina never repaired or replaced it. If Golden Nugget plans on maintaining a boat trade, they better rethink cutting the staff to a ridiculous level and not maintaining services that are expected at a resort marina! ***This is not a COVID-19 situation*** They have been going downhill long before COVID-19 arrived!
Due to weather changes we need to change our travel dates and found space at Flynn's last minute. That said this site is really a restaurant with a marina for smaller dock & dine boats who can and do stay overnight. We were told in advance and understood we would be docked outside the break water wall. What we did not expect was to have our 56' boat in an approximately 30' foot long slip. There was a strong wind out of the west, and due to the undersized slip, made it impossible to tie off to keep off of the piling because our bow lines even on our 2nd set of cleats only made spring lines. There is no radio monitored so we needed to jog outside the marina until the 1 overworked dock hand (Who was great!!!) got to us and we yelled back and forth to grasp where he wanted to put us. There is a very confusing dockage pricing structure that involves you paying a higher rate (That changes based on the size of your boat and the day of the week) then giving you coupons to use at their restaurant. Sort of forcing you to eat at their restaurant to bring your slip fee down. We did eat at the restaurant and the food and entertainment was great. Overall this marina needs to evaluate there facility and take reservations for boats that their slips were designed for or fully disclose that not only will it be a "Bit Rougher" outside as we were told, but you will also only be in half a slip if you have a larger boat.
This was one of our best stops we made on this trip. The staff and marina focused on every little detail to insure we had a great stay. The marina is just about centered to all of the shops. stores, and restaurants. Definitely a marina to stay at when in Newport
Great place to stop and enjoy a great fishing town. Dock staff was great and there are small restaurants that offer local caught Lobster and Seafood. Swimming areas by dinghy or small boat near the entrance to the harbor.
Marina Staff could not have been more accommodating. Close to town and all of the shops, shows, and restaurants.
Great stay! good access and great staff. Easy walk to town.
Overall our stay was good and facilities were fine. The Doc hand who assisted us upon arrival seemed to lack quite a bit of knowledge on how to properly get the boat in and tied up. In addition the marina was placing much larger boats in slips then they were designed for creating very tight lanes to navigate entry and exit from the slip.
