We stayed on a Town mooring and liked it just fine. The harbormaster staff were friendly and helpful, showers and heads were very nice, clean, etc. The Town runs a fuel dock and pumpout service and there is water available on the docks, but unfortunately they don't test it so they warn you not to drink it. So make sure you have enough water in your tanks before arriving here. The only other negative is that the harbor is wide open to the south, so it can get quite rolly in a southerly breeze. But overall we really enjoyed our stay in Bristol. It's a very cute town with many bars & restaurants, grocery stores, etc. and we will be back.
Friendly service at a well maintained marina. Very nice marina with modern and clean heads & showers. We took a mooring and found a small but adequate dinghy dock. We had a nice walk over the swing bridge to New Bedford, where there are lots of options for cocktails or dinner. We had a cold one at a nice sidewalk table.
The marina has the convenience of being right downtown, but without crowd or traffic noise. Marina staff were great and attentive, getting in & out of our slip was easy, and we really enjoyed our brief visit.
Although they are still using temporary heads & showers as the facility is still under construction, the docks and staff are top notch. Every one of the dock staff who we worked with was neat in appearance, cheerful, knowledgeable and professional. Plus the location is great: a short walk to the Old Port section of town without being right in the noise and bustle of the other marinas. We will definitely be back next time we're in Portland.
We reserved a mooring, and it turns out the harbormaster has only 2 moorings, right off the town dock. The moorings were fine, but the current in the river is something to consider and deal with. the harbormaster staff were great and helpful, but whole trees and other debris comes down the river and we had a couple of solid "thunks" against the hull during the night. Newburyport itself is great and we'll likely be back, but I think we'll take some dock space next time instead of a mooring.
Helpful, courteous dock staff, easy dinghy dock...even great diesel price! We will be back.
We recently stayed 2 nights at Hingham Shipyard and we liked it a lot. The concrete floating docks were in like-new condition, everything was spotless, the heads & showers were very nice, modern and clean, and the "pod" system to get onto each dock provides good security. There's no pool, which we knew going in, but what kept me from giving them 5 stars is that there was no dock staff that we ever saw. There wasn't much current running when we arrived (although there is a significant tidal current a times) and my wife was able to get off the boat easily enough to get some lines over, but if there had been a wind and/or current situation or if the docks had been lower to the water we would have had a problem. The launch driver stopped by as soon as we were secured and checked us in, gave us a goody bag, etc., but I was very surprised at the lack of dock assistance. That said, once we got settled we had a great weekend, with shops and restaurants within a couple of hundred yards of the marina.
We had a really nice visit to Oxford and Safe Harbor Oxford marina. The approach from the channel was easy and the staff gave clear and accurate instructions over the radio. The fixed pier was in very good condition and we had no problem getting securely into our slip. The clubhouse, including bathrooms and showers, appeared to be quite new and very nice, and the pool was clean and very welcome on a very hot day. Jeff, the marina manager, and his dockhand (whose name I don't recall) were great, and Jeff even gave us a ride to Doc's for dinner. All in all, a very good experience and we'd definitely stay here again on a return visit to Oxford.
Accurate greeting on VHF on arrival with directions to our slip, where dock staff was waiting to show me in, set up dock lines and shore tie. As I mentioned in an earlier review, there are only 2 shower stalls and 2 toilet stalls in both men's & ladies' heads for this big marina...probably not enough so lines at both every morning. Otherwise we highly recommend.
We had an excellent experience at Legacy Harbor for 4 days in January 2019. Dock staff were on scene and helpful on arrival, check-in was a breeze, amenities are top-notch and exactly as advertised, and our neighbor boaters were fun and supportive. I highly recommend this place and will certainly stay here again next time we're in Fort Myers.
What a disappointment, and from a Westin. Where to start: soon after confirming my Dockwa reservation the Westin sent me a message saying that there is no dock staff but if I need help tying up I should call such & such a phone number when I get close. I did...several times but kept getting voicemail. There's quite a current in the river and my wife can't jump off the boat, but luckily a guy who had just docked came out of his boat and took our lines. The Westin's email also said that half of the electric pedestals don't work so try to tie up at the east end of the dock, which I did. I got power but the water on our pedestal didn't work and the next pedestal was too far away for my hose, so no water. I called the phone number again and asked about the Wifi, and someone came down and gave my wife a folder of information, then left. So we could get on the (strong) Wifi and we figured out about the showers, but no info about trash disposal. Plus the dock itself is in very rough condition. The hotel is lovely and we love Savannah, but the Westin should either step up their game or stop pretending they're a marina.
We pulled into Topsail Island late on Sunday afternoon. No one came up on the radio so I phoned the marina and got Captain James at his house. He said there was no one working at the marina but he gave me detailed instructions on how to navigate the entrance channel, which wasn't difficult. He also said to pick any open slip, which I did. It's not a big place - I'd estimate there are 20 or 25 slips, all floating docks that look new. Another transient boater helped us tie up, and water & electric were obvious, so no problem there. The only problem was that we never did see anyone who worked for Topsail Island Marina, and we didn't know where the bath house or trash bins were...and we never did find them. The Wifi didn't work, but Captain James told me it's because the cable was cut at the road, where there was construction. Entrance and departure were easy, although if you're southbound you have to leave just before the top of the hour, because the marina is right next to the swing bridge and it only opens on the hour. I would stay in this well maintained, totally protected little marina, but I'd be more careful to ask for details as to the amenities.
We stayed here because of good reviews and we'd never stayed here before, in our favorite town along the ICW. The floating docks were great, Clark the dockmaster was super-helpful, the laundry (free) and head/shower (only 1) were nice and clean. The reasons I gave 4 stars and not 5 were that the Wifi was intermittent at best, and we were docked next to a couple of working shrimp boats, and their crews were busy most of the night evidently getting ready for a trip. All in all, a nice marina in a great town.
Excellent, helpful arrival experience from dockhand Jason. Top notch bath facilities, sturdy & clean docks. We've already recommended Zahniser's to friends!
We ducked into Bohemia Vista marina unexpectedly to ride out a gale that was forecast, and were pleasantly surprised. The approach is a little nerve wracking because the Bohemia River is very shallow - in fact the chart showed 7' - 8' while our fathometer read as low as 4.7' in places. But Chris talked us in and it turned out fine. We tied up to a clean, sturdy concrete floating slip with help from Chris and a dockhand. Once secured we found somewhat basic but nice and clean facilities: a clubhouse with big-screen TV with comfortable couch & chairs, 1 washer & dryer, and 1 bathroom with shower. As I say, sort of basic but clean & well maintained. There's strong WiFi throughout the marina and Chris lives on site and is always available to help with any problems. No restaurants on site or within walking distance, but several will deliver here. Overall a pleasant enough experience and we would stay here again.
Very nice facility with good, solid floating docks, very helpful dock staff. In addition to clean, modern bathrooms and showers, there's a fabulous lounge with good, strong WiFi, and comfortable chairs and desks. This place ain't cheap, but it's essentially New York City (not actually) so that's to be expected. But it is well protected and a good, safe place to visit with frequent shuttle ferries across to Manhattan.
We got in rather late in the day, just looking for a place to get out of some weather on our way west in the Sound. The floating docks were quite new, bathrooms and showers were decent and clean, and the young lady who checked us in was pleasant and helpful. We left at first light next morning. We didn't use any other marina amenities but found the place to be good and as-advertised. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there as a destination, but wouldn't hesitate to come back again for a stopover.
Welcoming, professional staff, good quality floating docks, clean modern heads & showers. On-site ferry to Newport is fun. Will definitely be back.
WYC is a lovely, but no frills club with a very helpful and accommodating steward who came out to our mooring on arrival to greet us. There are new, clean showers, a long face dock, grills and picnic tables that are available to visiting yachtsmen. The clubhouse is in a nice, quiet part of the harbor and WYC is definitely on our list of places we're looking forward to coming back to.
We spent a very enjoyable night at Cedar Island - just a stop-over on our way up Long Island Sound. The entrance channel is a little scary at first because there are no buoys shown on the chart, but in fact it's well marked and we had no problem coming in or out. I called the marina on the VHF on our way in and they came right up with detailed directions to our slip. Sean was waiting for us at the dock to help with lines & shore-tie as well as information about the marina and the local area. This is a nice marina with floating docks that are in good condition, a friendly & helpful staff, in a well protected harbor. We'd definitely stop there again.
Friendly staff greeted us on arrival and helped with lines. It's a small marina with floating docks that were safe but feeling their age. Limited amenities (no pool) but nice, clean & modern bathrooms & showers.
We had a lovely weekend at Nantucket Boat Basin at pre-season rates. Staff were super - friendly, detailed instructions to our slip on arrival, where dock staff were waiting to take our lines, familiarize us with the marina and the town, and make us feel welcome. In-season rates are way too high for our blood, but pre and post season it's a great place to spend a couple of days.
Harbormaster staff responded immediately when I called them on Ch. 74 on arrival in the harbor, as instructed, and they were polite and gave precise directions to our assigned mooring. the price is very reasonable these days and we are looking forward to our next visit to Edgartown.
