The Edgartown Harbormaster Department oversees all permanent, seasonal, and transient moorings in Edgartown waters, which are designated for transient use for vessels up to 65-feet in length. Transient moorings cost $45 for any length of stay within a 24-hour period that cycles from 10AM-10AM and are distributed on an assigned-basis as they all accommodate different vessel lengths. There are no more first-come, first-serve pick-up moorings and day-trips pay the same $45 rate as overnight vessels. All vessels arriving without a reservation are to hail us on VHF Ch. 74 for availability.
We strongly encourage all visiting yachtsmen / yachtswomen to reserve in advance as Edgartown is one of the busiest and most popular ports in the United States and frequently sells-out. To reserve, visit our website, www.edgartownharbor.com. For weekends and holidays especially, be sure to book when our calendar opens on March 4st at 08:00 AM EST sharp. There is a TWO WEEK LIMIT ON MOORING RESERVATIONS FOR JULY & AUGUST. Edgartown does not force rafting, but will allow one additional vessel of equal or lesser length/beam to raft if given expressed permission by the moored vessel for an additional $20 the card on file will be charged.
All town moorings in Edgartown waters are “fair weather" moorings and are therefore not sufficient for safe holding during severe weather. The Town of Edgartown is not responsible for the mooring tackle or any damage to your vessel caused by weather-related events.
Our department operates two fixed docks available for vessels up to 70 and 100-feet in length at a rate of $6 per foot, 50-foot minimum (vessels under 50-feet are charged $300 flat-rate per night) with a one-week limit per calendar month for July & August. They are located at North Wharf opposite the fuel dock and include water and electric. DOCKAGE DOES NOT COME WITH PARKING
In addition to our two transient docks at North Wharf, there are four first-come, first-serve finger-piers for vessels under 30-feet in length and 4-feet in draft. These cannot be reserved in advance and are available for an hourly rate. They are located at the foot of Main Street in between the Mad Max Marina and the Edgartown Yacht Club and are denoted by the right-green paint on the pilings.
Located at the foot of Main Street on the west side of the Edgartown Yacht Club (A-Frame building extending over the water) is a floating dock rafted alongside a row of red-painted pilings. Be certain to bring a dock line no less than 15-feet as the dinghy dock is often several boats deep, and to leave at least 8-feet off your bow. If you plan to be absent for more than a day, please utilize the launch service to help curb overcrowding as a courtesy to those actively commuting throughout the day. We also appreciate when our guests report any non-tender vessels occupying the space and will respond, remove, and relocate at our earliest ability to do so. PLEASE DO NOT KEEP YOUR DINGHY TIED FOR LONG TERM TIME, WE WILL BE TICKETING DURING THE SEASON. In addition to the primary dinghy dock, we have short-term tie-up available at North Wharf for guests using our complimentary showers, heads, and trash drop-off facilities.
The Town of Edgartown contracts launch service with a private company. For the last decade, that launch has been OldPort Launch, which can be reached on VHF Ch. 68. Please contact the launch directly for hours as they change seasonally.
Located diagonally across the channel from Green Channel Marker #9 is our floating water barge secured by two ball-shaped blue moorings on either side. It is free to use, accessible 24-7 on a first-come, first-serve basis, and equipped with two hoses. Vessel can tie up on either side of it.
Edgartown Harbor offers free pump-out service to all vessels in Edgartown waters via a pump-out boat that will pull alongside. To request a pump-out, hail “Edgartown Pump-out” directly on VHF Ch. 74. You have to be on board at the time of a pump-out.
Block and crushed ice can be purchased at North Wharf Supply ship store located on 1 Morse St, right near our office/heads/showers, the Paper Store, and various package stores in town.
The anchorage area is located in the outer harbor across the channel from the lighthouse and to the port-side of Red Nun #8 along the Chappaquiddick shoreline. It is serviced by the launch, well protected by Chappy's bluff from the light, prevailing southwest breeze, and all sand on the bottom making for easy holding. Vessels anchoring must be out of the channel and swim zones and all engines must be shut off 150-feet and less from shore. Anchorage in Katama Bay is only open at the harbormaster’s discretion when strong winds from the North/Northeast are present. Please hail us on VHF Ch. 74 to inquire about status.
While there are smaller provisions shops in Edgartown, the primary grocery store for the town, and much of the island, is Stop & Shop, located on Upper Main Street. It is about 0. 8 miles (15-20 minute walk) from the dinghy dock but can also be accessed via the free Park & Ride Shuttle operated by the Vineyard Transit Authority. The shuttle leaves from Mayhew Lane every 15-20 minutes during high season. Further up the street from Stop & Shop is their pharmacy, also accessible by foot or the Park & Ride. The island's primary hospital is located in the Town of Oak Bluffs and accessible via bus or car. Safe Harbor Ship store is located right next to our office / near the heads and showers on 1 Mores St. Here you can find ice, provisions and snacks. They are open in the summer contact Safe Harbor for hours.
This is strongly discouraged and not recommended. Any yachtsmen leaving the island and their vessel unattended for any reason must advise the Harbormaster Department and provide emergency contact details and an island contact when absent for several or more days.
Edgartown is a beautiful harbor and we look forward to sharing its beauty and character with you.
The Edgartown Harbormaster Department
Beautiful harbor. Attentive launch service. Great destination
Harbormaster was fantastic, such a great spot and beautiful harbor. Thank you for a great day!
Beautiful mooring. Easy dinghy ride to town. Staff is excellent!! Thank you.
Harbormaster very helpful, and the launch had a very pleasant captain
Perfect day and ez with the summer crowds gone.
Great harbor and great town. Very efficient Harbor Master and launch. It’s always good to be back here, especially this time in the year.
Harbormaster was very efficient assigning a mooring. Independent launch cost $5 per person per ride. Trash dumpster located in the parking lot at the launch float.
Very pleasant mooring field with excellent service providers. An all around great visit!
Beautiful harbor and one of our favorite destinations! Can't wait to go back next week!!
Very professional and accommodating Harbor Master and staff!
We love Edgartown and the friendliness of the Harbormaster staff, including the Launch boat team, etc. We took a risk and showed up without a reservation and they managed to get us a mooring for the day, as usual always trying to do their best for their clientele.
They are the best organized busy harbor in this area. They also honored a chat request that I had put in, requesting a mooring in their first mooring field, closest to town.
Edgartown is always a treat. Mike is awesome. But, having been coming to Edgartown for 25 years or so, there was a noticeable change in the staff having an “attitude” this year. In years past, the staff was always friendly, waved, helpful and cooperative. Unfortunate. But still a wonderful place!!
Plant of moorings gave us one closest to shore. Great day
Awesome harbor and awesome Harbormaster/staff. A fan favorite for sure!
The Edgartown Harbormaster Team is an exceptional group of individuals that handle their busy harbor with the utmost professionalism. They are always so helpful and accommodating. It is a true pleasure working with each and every one of them! We look forward to our visits to the Edgartown Harbor, it is such a delight to work with this team. The Jorgensen/Viking Sun crew thank you all!
Edgartown Harbor Harbormaster and staff are super friendly and very accomodating.
It’s my happy place! I would like to call out an exceptional launch operator “Mike”. He makes so easy to get ashore and pleasure to talk with. Thank you Mike for your years of service and making Edgartown a fun place to visit.
Friendly harbor master, quick confirmation. Awesome experience.
Always enjoy Edgartown. Great location and exceptionally helpful team. The launch team, is also very professional. Stayed at the docks in town. Great location and helpful staff.
Great harbor with clean, hot showers at the Harbormaster’s facilities. Nice town for walking around.
Great! Appreciated putting us on a mooring close to Main St.
Harbormaster is very responsive. Old Port launch is excellent.
Thank you for your excellent service! We had a wonderful summer as usual, albeit way too short! SANDMAN⚓️👋🏼😎
Edgartown is at the top of our list for boating destinations. The dinghy dock isn't ideal so maybe the town will find room for another one some day. The free water barge & free #11 bus to Stop & Shop are great amenities.
Great Harbormaster office. Well organized and responsive.
My first time visiting Edgartown Harbor. It is a lot bigger than i expected. Tied up to a town mooring in the back of the marina which is way back but less crowded not that you feel crowded here. The scenery was excellent. The shuttle service was great and you will most likely have to use it because the dinghy dock is very small and always 3 deep it seems. They have a floating water dock so it is easy to pull up on either side and fill your tanks. Edgartown is beautiful and i can't say enough good things about it. Very quaint and peaceful. Just a nice quality about this place. Stores and restaurants open at night, perfectly lighted and displayed. I had dinner in a little place that had a great atmosphere, a view of the street and music. A delicious salmon, asparagus with rice dinner that was not expensive. I will be back!
Booked w Dockwa for 3 nites, all good. But with approximately 90 transient moorings plus many private moorings in the field there is not enough dinghy space in town to accommodate the boaters. Otherwise beautiful experience.
Fun place and we had a good mooring (some are pretty far out there). Only complaint is dinghy dock access. There were a number of dinghies that looked to be there for a while (full of water, algae beard, etc.). I wish they would enforce the 24 hour dinghy rule as well as the length restrictions. If your dinghy has a 50hp on it, it is not a dinghy.
Well appointed port with excellent launch services.
In 2024 , the usual professional service we on the Lucky we have enjoyed over the years , launch was great , thank you , always great to see Mike Hathaway ,
Great time, facilities excellent, great service. I take my boat from NH every year to the Vineyard fishing Great Crew helpful, polite and willing to help TA
Harbormaster's office is extremely helpful. Showed up on a weekend the first trip without a reservation (or a Dockwa account) and they talked us through the process and helped us to get set up with a mooring. Second trip was smooth and again the Harbormaster's office and crew were terrific.
We have been visiting Edgartown Harbor for the past 50 years in our same wooden boat, and the hospitality and efficiency of the Harbormaster and crew, never lets us down. Oldport Marine also runs an excellent launch service.
The staff and moorings are 5 star ! Great hospitality by all I came in contact with . One thing that desperately needs improvement on is the dinghy dock capacity !! There’s over 90 town moorings and only approximately 24 ft of dinghy dock . It’s so crowded by 10 am with it being 5-6 boats deep it’s impossible to get anywhere near it . Nantucket has figured it out by recently expanding there dock capacity The other thing worth mentioning is the pump out boat - no fault of the staff at all , they do a great job with the pump out boat but it’s not out on the water for very long and some days not at all . Perhaps it’s under staffed ?
We came here in Summer of 2025 on our 42 foot sailboat. Very well protected harbor. Very active Harbormaster office very responsive on the radio, very responsive in Dockwa, very active on land and visible all around. We went from asking for our stay to be reduced to asking for it to be extended and these guys accommodated our requests at the height of summer. Only thing that could use improvement is the showers. They are very spartan. They could use a bench and a mirror. But overall very recommendable.
Very nice harbor and mooring balls. The best amenity is the water barge. So convenient. I would like a sign put up that states “ Washing boats is not permitted here”. I witnessed one boat who tied up the barge washing his boat while people waited to fill up which can cause traffic in the channel and an unsafe waterway. Please don’t wash your boat there, especially when people are waiting. All else was wonderful!
Great stay. Weather perfect. Harbormaster went out of their way to find us a private mooring to stay an extra night. Great service. Friendly people!
Beautiful locale; easy, protected mooring field; GREAT staff. The wonderful assistance they provided us with a medical emergency will never be forgotten.
The Harbormaster was more than accommodating. What a great experience....We will be back....THANK YOU AGAIN
We love visiting Edgartown by boat, it has everything from stores, restaurants, bus service. We didn't find a beach that had easy dinghy access but we didn't ask anyone either. The reason for only a 4 star rating it because of the dinghy dock. The dock is far too small for the size of the harbor and mooring rentals they have. dinghy's are forced to be stacked up 2-3 deep during our stay causing us to climb over multiple boats at times. When we get in early and next to the dock the dinghy is now very difficult to get out with the boats tied up behind us. My 70 year old wife doesn't want to do it any more and would only use water taxi in the future. Come on Edgartown, you can do better.
Very nice anchorage. Responsive and curteous staff. Can be a bit of a ride if moored toward the South. Easy access to Edgartown. A great place to stay when visiting the Vineyard.
Staying in Edgartown Harbor is awesome! They have the best harbormaster I have ever met. His staff is well-trained, pump-out is fast and clean, and the launch into town is the best. Highly recommend visiting this harbor.
Mooring was not the best - plenty of room and lucky to be close to town (many moorings are far from town) but only one tether (so swinging a lot on side cleat) and no pickup stick or floats (so tough to pickup up in strong breeze and high freeboard sailboat). However, the biggest issue was the tiny dinghy dock, so no room for dink, and when we tried the launch, only one boat running so long wait times.
Very responsive and helpful Harbormaster upon arrival. Easy mooring to find. Perfect weather
Harbor master was able to accommodate Saucy Fox date changes. However, when we arrived, the water barge was inop. Secondly, the. Pump out boat wasn’t running because someone no showed. We waited and were told that they didn't know when or if they were coming. We returned at 1530 hoping he had arrived, but they had shut down the pump out boat? The usually awesome service and help was lacking and not up to the standards of the Edgartown Harbormastor office. I love the pristine harbor and know it won’t stay that way with unpredictable and unreliable service.
First rate organization. Quick with mooring assignment on arrival. Nice rest rooms and hot shower on their dock. Helps make a visit to this cute seaport town so enjoyable.
Town moorings are great, Emily was awesome. Highly recommend it.
Always the best Harbor!! Staff especially helpful when dealing with unexpected boat issues.
Everything fine except the launch doesn’t run until 8am. I want to get out and fish early!
From the Edgartown Harbor Master to each and every member of the team..you all are the most welcoming and attentive staff around. We met two members of the team when we arrived at the wash down station. They happily helped us tie up. We had a great mooring near the EYC. All was perfect- even the weather. Thank you all. Joe and Mary Carlucci
Great harbor. Awesome moorings. Accommodative Harbor Master. Clean bathrooms
it was quite easy and came at a time when we need to be off our dock and onto a mooring
Edgartown Harbor is very well managed and always a treat to stay here. The harbor masters office is super responsive.
This is without question a well managed harbor. These folks work hard to accommodate all special requests! Kudos to the harbormaster and crew !!!
Our stay was pleasant, dock crew was helpful, and everything we needed was close by!
Great stay. Harbormasters office does an outstanding job of managing the moorings Negative is the overcrowded dinghy dock
Beautiful destination. Lots to do. Good swimming. Well organized harbor-top notch!!!!
Perhaps the nicest mooring field to visit on the east coast.
Vantastic harbor master crew really great as always and they like my guitar singing 🎸🎤👍
Edgartown Harbormasters were exceptionally helpful. Mooring were in good shape.
A long dinghy ride, but overall a great experience. We love Edgartown.
Had a great stay as always. Mooring was ready when it was supposed to. Staff on radio was great.
Great launch service. Town-39 is a well protected mooring.

BUT EDG WAS GREAT HM STAFF , EYC STAFF -GREAT
Always a pleasure! Hats off to Mike who runs the pump out boat who does a really great job!
Another wonderful stay in Katama Bay with the stupendous team of the Edgartown Harbor Master! We didn’t have reservations and all was booked, but I kept in touch with Charlie in the office, after spending be night in the outer anchorage and we were given a great mooring for the remainder of our 5 day stay. The whole team works so well together and the communication is very proficient and professional. Of all the 14 ports we stay during our 5-week summer sails, we look the most forward to coming into the beautiful Edgartown Harbor, and we can’t be happier with the service from all the hardworking people of the Harbormaster’s office. Thank you, Edgartown!
Another great trip. Harbor master very accommodating with my earlier than anticipated arrival date. Showers are so improved from a few years ago.
We were given an excellent mooring and the folks at the Harbor Master’s office were wonderful.
Great spacing between boats. So close to town. Can’t wait to come back
We had a great time in Edgartown. the moorings are strong and spread out just perfect. cant wait to return. The staff answers when called and is knowledgeable about the area.
Dingy dock is ridiculous- someone will get hurt trying to get in and out. Make the the pick up place at north dock and expand the dingy dock.
We found the Launch Drivers and VHF Dispatchers to be very friendly, efficient and helpful. The harbor is well managed and Vineyard Haven has lots to do.
It was excellent !! Beautiful Harbor and everything was seemless. We will be back :)
All well done. Harbor voice communications excellent and launch service excellent. Thanks
Harbor master was a pro and everyone was very accommodating.
Between the harbor master staff and dockage, the sign up process was smooth as could be.
A jewel! Great Team! Capt. Mike is iconic. :) We appreciate the opportunity to visit Martha's Vineyard and enjoy its hospitality!
Everything was wonderful. If there was one thing that I would comment on was the dinghy dock. All tenders should use a least 8 ft of line not tied directly to the dock to give more boats access. All personnel on the water were extremely professional and helpful.
We always enjoy our trip to Edgartown! The Dockmaster’s office is always helpful!
Great communication on mooring location and great response on the launch! Will stay again!
Great town to visit and explore. Harbourmasters staff is first class Great pumpout boat and launch service.
The dinghy dock is a nightmare. There are boats that have been there for weeks. We know because we left and came back and the same boats are there, filled with rainwater. Some nearly deflated. Climbing over them to get to the dock is tricky at best. Nice harbor to be in but just don’t plan on provisioning much.
Very accommodating people. Despite busy day and no reservations was able to get a day mooring, with good service and really nice people. Loved it
Other than a ton of weed for the second year in a row, this is a very nice harbor-best on the Vineyard! Great launch service, good beaches, nice lighthouse, good dinghying! Thanks for making all of our cruises enjoyable and memorable! Great town as well!
The harbor is fairly busy, including a very frequent (and very short ferry crossing). The VHF (ch. 74) is very busy on approach (but also super helpful). The mooring field is VERY long - makes you want to have a bigger dinghy. But it's a beautiful place to stay and once you get into the dock, Edgartown is very pretty. The pumpout boat does rounds in the morning (you just flag him down).
Excellent stay. Staff was just so friendly and accommodating.
Always easy to work with, moorings are well spaced. Ice available at fuel dock as well as trash dumbster. Fresh Water Barge is also easy to access.
Loved it so much we changed our float plan and went back for more! Launch was great if you didn't want to use your raft. Harbormaster was great with info. Town is beautiful and so many places to eat, drink, shop or just enjoy the views. Marina views are stunning.
Great Harbor. We were on a mooring more to the back of the harbor. Very quiet, beautiful views and a comfortable night. We will certainly be back.
Wonderful! Boat taxi convenient and efficient, area clean and safe and so Fun
Beautiful Harbor. Dinghy dock is terrible , crowded and and dangerous. They need to enlarge beforew someone gets hurt!
What a delightful harbor! Quiet & family oriented; not a big party place. Variety of balls to accommodate all manner and size vessels. Very helpful instructions upon approach. Friendly staff at the Harbormaster’s office. Responsive & friendly pump-out boat and a convenient water barge. We will be back on our return south.
Always a great place to stay! The only thing that would improve it is a bigger dinghy dock. It can be 3 boats deep tied up sometimes. Half the boats are there 24x7. There's not any extra space, so I doubt they could add to the existing dock. Everything else is wonderful. We will be back!
EHM was very easy to work with. Clear, prompt and professional communication, very accommodating. I especially appreciate their forgiving early check-out policy, given the unpredictable nature of cruising. Would absolutely use again.
Many thanks to the Edgartown crew for another great stay. See you in a few weeks!
Professional, courteous and helpful staff. Mooring in very good condition. Great venue.
Great moorings. We'll maintained and patrolled harbor. Launch service very good.
As usual, clear and timely comms with the Harbormaster; moring avaialble on time. Always polite and helpful comms to the Captains entering the harbor for the first time.
Great staff. Well protected mooring field. One of our favorite spots.
Great time in Edgartown!! Great communication from Edgartown Harbormaster office- see you soon!!
Harbormaster very professional and helpful. Our stay was super. Nice mooring...great boatshow!
Always perfect! Harbor is so clean and professional service.
Everything was very good except for very small transient dinghy dock. This made it difficult getting to shore with an older dog.
They are very responsive to Dockwa requests and communications. Wish more dockwa partners were half as good! If you are coming ashore in your dinghy, be prepared to play "dinghy hopscotch" at the dock. It's part of the charm of the place.
Excellent all around , professional and courteous Terrific launch service
The stay was very nice, but we were put on almost the last mooring from town, when there were closer moorings that could have accumulated our vessel.
everything worked fine and the woman in the harbormasters office working the calls did an excellent job managing the traffic at busy check-in time on a sunday morning
Beautiful + peaceful harbor, next to charming Edgartown!! We love coming here and keep extending our stay. :)
Great harbor with great hospitality. Launch is great with long hours. Harbormaster is well staffed. Mike, on the pump out boat delivers great service and just puts out the welcome mat. My top destination. Joe van benten
Edgartown is a great place to go, of course. Harbormaster very professional, responsive, and accommodating. Nice spacing between moorings, doesn’t feel cramped at all. Old Port, the company that runs launch, has great hours and service — with prices that are reasonable. Only caution is that the dinghy dock is pretty crowded, even mid-week. Make sure you ask for the mooring location you want, some moorings are close to town, some moderately close, and others are more remote.
This is honestly the best moorings in all of Martha’s and Nantucket. At 45$ it is also the cheapest I’ve seen in New England. Edgartown is beautiful. Take the time to stroll and go see all these beautiful meticulously maintained mansions. It is simply spectacular. And a dinner at the Atlantic is just wonderful!
Made welcome Justin is a professional and personable Food was excellent and Rachel was great servicing our party of 8 from HYC Bill runs a tight ship
Great stay but had to leave 2 days early because of weather. I don't believe I recieved any credit.
First trip to MV by boat. Had a great experience staying in Edgartown Harbor. Staff was great and very helpful. We will be back! Thank you Edgartown HM
We love Edgartown, Dockwa was great and thank you!!!!!
Another great 4th of July in Edgartown. Charlie, Sara, Marina, and the rest of the gang are fantastic. Thanks so much !!
awesome as always, everyone super friendly and helpful. we were thrilled to have our favaroite mooring with spectacular weather on the 4th. not so much after! We called for a pumpout on friday and the harbormaster was doing the job with 350 gallons taken on his first round. being a holiday weekend, no one else was around to do it. a sign of great leadership for the person in charge to take charge and get it done. an unexpected chance to talk in person and express out gratitude. Awesome visit1
The mooring aside was over a nautical mile from the town dock. Further, two of the three showers were unavailable.
All good. It would be helpful if the Edgartown Harbormaster offered keys to the rest rooms to those on slips.
Love this harbor. Its unfortunate that every weekend this summer is booked. Have to wonder if the cancellation policy was more expensive people wouldn't book everything and then just cancel later.
A great harbor to visit for a few days. Convenient dinghy dock and dumpsters near the yacht club, free pump outs on the mooring and a free “ water barge” near green #9 can. Basic but effective showers at the North Wharf.Walk your dog at nearby Chappy ferry dock or around town. The Harbormaster’s office is efficient and friendly. A great place to stay for a few days.
Excellent service. Good communication. We had mooring Yellow #1. Very convenient for access to town but a little too close to all the traffic/wake. Still a very beautiful anchorage and a must go location for anyone that hasn't been there.
Excellent harbor with easy to find mooring balls. Very secure. Very helpful staff and great Old Port Launch Service into town. $5 bucks each way. Free Dinghy dock too. Fun place to walk around!
Overall very good. Bath/shower facilities could be upgraded and dingy dock gets very crowded.
$$$ dollars for the experience(50’ minimum ) slips are close to launch boats starting at 7:00am. No lightning at all at night walking from town and down at docks. Bathrooms and showers closed after 7:00 pm.( must leave license to get a shower key, kinda elementary) Edgartown is absolutely beautiful
Great mooring and easy reservation process. Please let folks know that the water float is not yet operational…thanks
Excellent handling of the radio calls by the Harbormaster. Quite friendly, helpful and informative. Best in class.
Great harbor, great marine facilities, great restaurants.
Back from Nantucket. Again easy in and clear mooring assignment when calling on CH 74. Dinghy dock and Water dock were exactly as described. EH accommodated our request to be close to the dinghy dock as we have a dog who needs shore leave. Lovely harbor and we are looking forward to our return next week.
Wonderful, staff were very responsive
As always, amazing support from the Harbormaster and Old Port Launch. I appreciate that there were two launches running. Thank you again.
Mooring was great. Just needed the water dock on.
From the Five i’s. Another great stay. Thanks Edgartown Harbormaster. 👍
Not much to this spot only a couple transient slips. Jenny was super nice but gas pump broken which was inconvenient
Great as always, thank you! Beautiful harbor! Thank you for accommodating our request! See you soon Mike
We’ve been coming here by boat for well over 20 years, and we never tire of it. I’m s still our #1 place to visit! This time of year is so very different, yet still so very special. Perfect weather and perfect mooring location (#1, a first for us)! Sad to see the season ending, but enjoying what’s left in our favorite place!
Awesome location near the town center. There are only a small number of slips (non-floating) which are all near the marina boat lift. Should keep this in mind if visiting during spring launch or fall haul out season.
Great location in a beautiful port. Nice slip, close to downtown. It was relaxing at times. Only problem is 3 to 5 guys constantly fishing around your boat. My wife is an animal lover and was upset that they were killing sunfish as bait and then killing the fish they pulled out. They were constantly shouting foul language. F*** this and F*** that. When we approached them, they said they had right to fish there as taxpayer.
This was a great end of season visit. OldPort was running with limited hours (variable each day), which constrained dinners ashore to dinghy actions.
We received very precise direction and found the mooring easy. Thanks
One of the most accommodating harbors in the Northeast...They bend over backwards to make you feel welcome...adjust...and provide great services to the visiting mariner.
The Dockwa reservation system worked very well at Edgartown. The Harbormaster staff did their usual great job: very friendly and efficient.
Wonderful harbor, great staff and service. If you visit you will not be dissapointed!
Came a day early and they accommodated us with no problem. Had mooring number 1 so we’re close to shore!
Edgartown is our favorite destination. We always look forward to our annual visit. Very well run and boater friendly destination.
Great harbor can very convenient. Perfect spot for paddle boarding. We had a great stay.
Very prompt service Water taxi was little slow but overall very good experience
Updating my review from a couple of years ago, but it is the same. Edgartown's Harbormaster team is top notch. Very welcoming and professional. The email that comes with the confirmation is helpful and warm. Thank you all. Only issue, nothing to do with Harbormaster , the store at fuel dock- closed despite their phone message and signage. Needed block ice. Apparently the store is unreliable. Just a warning for those like us who have only the most minimal refrigeration. Edgartown Harbor: Thank you again.
Best mooring experience in the area! The dinghy dock leaves a lot to be desired. Lots more mooring and anchoring capacity in the harbor than the dock can support. With the shift to more console style ribs the small dock doesn’t cut it. Plan to tie up 2-3 boats deep and do some boat hopping. Or plan to have to clean your tender after people have used yours like a jungle gym if you are lucky enough to get anywhere near the dock.
Great people, very helpful Harbormaster and crew, launch was inconsistent at times on the end times, but overall very beautiful spot with great restaurants and bars. The water barge is such a brilliant idea. The only thing that was a bit frustrating was trying to find the mooring with very little help, the help we received from the HB office was actually less than helpful and not accurate. We were right off can 9, how hard is that.
Very uncooperative harbor master office. Your web site was not recognizing me and works not let me on the web site. Very frustrating!
Second consecutive stay over the Labor Day weekend this year and remain impressed with how mooring assignments are made and handled. The staff is friendly and very customer service oriented. The moorings are clean and tidy with each yellow mooring line neatly coiled on top of the mooring for an easy pickup. Wish there were more dingy spaces for longer ashore time but we survived. We look forward to returning in 2024! S/V Mariposa, Marion MA, Beverly Yacht Club.
We love everything about Edgartown Harbor from the helpful and responsive attitude of the Harbormaster office to the Charm and Beauty of just “Being” there. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality 💙⛵️
My family and I just spent a wonderful weekend in Edgartown Harbor. It was our first time here and we were so pleased by the ease of communication and general welcomeness of everyone we came into contact with. We will be coming back next season for a longer stay!
Harbor master is always so responsive but the launch took over an hour to get to us.
You should advise boaters using your app., when tender services are under staffed! We waited 1:30 minutes to get picked up from our boat, then over an hour to get picked up to go back to boat!
No Block ice available in Edgartown. On the other hand, pump out driver is awesome.
Always the best! Greeted and led to our mooring, the service could not have been better. Thank you!!
The best place to come for a nice relaxing day. Quiet- protected harbor - staff is wonderful
What a colorful, idyllic harbor living up to its 5-star reputation. We really enjoyed the bustling Labor Day weekend scene. The Edgartown Harbormaster was exceptionally responsive in answering our Dockwa mooring requests and radio communications. Yellow town mooring #3 (near green can #9) is convenient to town and gives one a front row seat to all the action.
Perfect stay, thank you Edgartown Harbormaster 👍☀️🛥️🗽🇺🇸
As always, great service and very responsive. Will be back next year!
Love the harbor and town. Only downside is the lack of an adequate sized dinghy dock
Charlie and his crew are very helpful and an overall top notch team
Is it that hard to assign the closest public moorings? I think I passed 30 open yellow moorings on my way to #87.
Great harbor....professional harbor master, quick pump out, lot's to do: biking, walking in sanctuaries, beaches, bus trips, etc.
Fantastic harbor and a great harbor master that led us to our Maureen. Launch is very readily available..
Had a wonderful time in town. Great harbor, friendly and helpful harbormaster. Easy morning to pickup for beginners.
Awesome stay!!! Edgartown Harbor was able to accommodate all our requests and we enjoyed our stay 🥰
Terrific place to visit. Moorings are great. The only complaint we have is that the dingy dock is a mess. Boats are two and three deep in a narrow channel. There is launch service.
Best run harbor in the northeast! Always love our visits to Edgartown.
Easy communication with harbor master, launch and fuel dock.
Fantastic stay! Great communication and services.
Great place, convenient water, bath house, trash and launch.
Great harbor. Large mooring field. Protected Launch can be slow
Responsive and great communication. Always a pleasure to visit this beautiful harbor.
Relaxing and peaceful harbor to spend a night or two. In town restaurants are extremely expensive. We understand it’s a short season, but way overpriced.
Very helpful folks, I needed to edit reservation and they made the change quickly. Snagged a good mooring with new gear. also launch service in the harbor is great.
Lovely. Bathrooms at the bus stop on Church St, and a water bottle filling station as well. Dinghy dock is a mob scene, but that is the case anywhere popular. Perfect spot for bad weather as well, completely protected from all sides (unlike vineyard haven). There is also a water barge parked in the middle of the channel where you can wash down and fill up water, for free.
Beautiful harbor. Dockwa was efficient and harbor master was efficient as well.
Our stay was great. I want to give a shout out to the Harbor Master. He was so helpful and gave great directions to get us to our mooring. Thank you. We’ll definitely be back!
Harbor always a pleasure to visit . Would be helpful to post on website / Dockwa rules on limiting use of generators after 10pm as had boat next to our mooring keep generator on all night and has been a frequent occurrence with past trips .
Great stay, the Harbormaster's staff were all professional, as were the employees of the Old Port launch.
Excellent although having a mooring map on dock.wa would be helpful. Our assigned mooring was occupied but another was easily secured.
Always a great time in Edgartown. Staff is always friendly and accommodating. Launch was quick and friendly.
Great harbor with friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating staff. Charlie, Sara and Mike are the BEST! Very well run harbor. -Bill
Efficient, competent, & conscientious - what more can you ask for!
As always it was fantastic. The entire team in the Harbormaster’s office is great!
Very professional service in a delightful harbor
Many moorings, we were a bit far but in a beautiful mooring spot and there was a launch service in and out of town for $5pp per trip. Lovely town to visit, Stop and Shop a 3/4 mile walk from the docks for provisions and lots of restaurants, shops great ice cream and a local liquor store in easy walking distance.
Everyone I spoke to, took the time to help us and make our stay safe and enjoyable! Thank you all.
We, aboard Saucey, had a wonderful stay on mooring 63. The harbor was safe and quiet. The launch service was reliable and pleasant. Easy to get into town and get around either walking or renting bicycles. The restaurant we dined at, Behind The Bookstore, was welcoming, relaxing, great service, and very delicious. We will return!!!
Excellent service, moorings & location combined with wonderful people👍😃
Perfect. Great facilities. Easy pump out. Busy beautiful town.
When we use Dockway, the camunication to the harbor master is very easy. All the correct information about our vessel was relayed to Edgertown. The weather was great so we make it on time this year. One thing I noticed was they sent us too a mooring far from the town. when we asked to move closer to town we were told that thoes moorings were reserved for long term guest. When we were leaving, thoes mooring were still not ocupied. All else was great. Launch serve was the best at $5 a ride. The water bardge was great. Thanks Dockwa.
Best mooring and place to stay - ever! Easy and fast transport to and from the mainland.
Edgartown couldn’t be a nicer place to stay. And the weather was spectacular for the days that we were there.
Great first visit to Edgartown and the Harbormaster was super. East and well organized. Launch captain was wonderful!!
Quiet spot. Good showers and dinghy dock close to everything.
I cannot say enough about this harbor. The launch service is outstanding. And what can I say about Edgartown itself. Love this place and can't wait to come back.,
Great help finding mooring in the dark. Comfy harbor.
Edgartown is one of our favorite harbors. The harbormaster always tries to accomodate boaters. Mike runs one of the best pump out services of any harbor. The mooring field is well laid out. It is a large field and can be a long dinghy ride in. Launch service is available. Edgartown has some of the best restaurants, galleries and shops of any destination
Thanks for a great stay and for honoring our request for a close up mooring. Hope to be back soon!
The morning I planned to visit Edgartown, I realized that I had forgotten to make a reservation. Panicked, I called at 7:00 and spoke to the harbormaster. He advised that the person processing Dockwa queried came in at 8:00. I called at 8:00 on the dot, spoke again with the Harbormaster who, in turn, consulted his colleague. They processed my mooring reservation immediately, while I was on the phone. Everything from there led to a wonderful stay. Great service, gracefully given.
Easy arrival, no issues during our week-long stay. All services nearby. Of course, its, Edgartown, so it's always beautiful.
Sam in the harbormasters office was beyond accomadative to us!
excellent we had a great time the Harbormaster, launch, and pump out service was terrific.
Beautiful stay and the harbormaster was very helpful.
We waited over 45 minutes for a launch to bring us back to our boat.
The service out here are very good. Launch service is good. It’s one of my favorite places to go on the weekend.
Edgartown is our favorite harbor for our summer cruise. Friendly, easy pump-put access and the water dock! The only things that could make it better would be access to a laundry facility in town and a bigger dinghy dock. The dinghy dock gets filled by some rather large tenders that maybe could be directed elsewhere.
Lovely harbor and mooring locations!! Launch service is an easy ride into town!! Always friendly and accommodating. Pump out boat is also appreciated.
Excellent harbor to get a mooring. Launch runs late
Our stay was excellent. Good moorings which held during an unexpected heavy storm. I deducted one star because the dinghy dock is too crowded. For a size of a harbor like Edgartown, there should be more dockage for dinghys. We ended up using the launch one day. FYI..$5 each person one way. The harbor master should regulate the size of the dinghy’s tied there. While we were there, someone came in the the dinghy dock with a 15 foot inflatable and a 90 HP engine and pushed in. We watched as the woman on board didn’t step in the other dinghys to tie up and repeatedly stepped on the transoms of the dinghys.🙄 Other than that, enjoyed our stay, calm peaceful harbor!
Edgartown Harbor is very well managed by the Harbormaster's dept. Highly professional friendly people. Thank you for another great visit! The Oldport Marine launch drivers were excellent, especially Mike!
We have stayed at Edgartown several times and love it. It is a beautiful place. We were looking forward to this visit, however prior to arriving at our mooring, we came to the realization That our dog was lame and needed to go home to Connecticut. We were on the morning for two maybe three hours at most, and left that day for Cuttyhunk, and back to Connecticut to care for our dog. I’m asking Harbor Master for a credit for a future stay we were advised of the ““ policy for no refunds. Without consideration of our situation, Harbor Master told us we couldn’t even have a single day credit for the today morning that we paid for. This is disheartening and evidence of big corporate policy in America today. A complete lack of consideration, I’m obviously very displeased with Edgartown Harbor Master
Very Welcoming. Was easy to get a reservation on a very busy day. Organized over the radio when arriving. Truly felt that they were doing everything they could to accommodate all of the visiting boats. Stark contrast to Nantucket.
Launch service very slow an hour wait. One launch broke and then they chartered the second launch for a private cruise leaving one for the rest of the mooring field..
Always easy, we frequently travel to Edgartown
Great moorings. Beautiful harbor. Have stayed in Edgartown many times. Always a great place to stay. Protected mooring, calm harbor. Lots to do. Cudos to Mike. He is great! Great restaurants. Love the bike trails!
felt like the mooring assignments were a bit haphazardly (listening to the radio) didn't give us a warm & fuzzy upon entering. also had to find the public garbage and if there was recycling anywhere. a quick brochure with services would have been nice to have had.
Edgartown is amazing and the harbor is a fantastic place. It’s hard to beat the value. While I understand that new shower facilities are on the horizon, the existing ones could have been cleaner and signage at the dinghy dock reminding people to use the recommended 15 feet of painter could be helpful to accommodate the number of dinghies.
Wonderful place. Harbor Master Team does an excellent job. Always enjoy spending time in E-Town. :)
Great service clean and beautiful harbor can’t wait till next year.
Good, we were assigned far out , but no big deal., launch service was great. .
A couple of issues that need resolution. 1. Pump out boat is over scheduled. Need an extra boat. We requested a pump out just after arriving and we were put on the list. We were asked to stay on the vessel until the pump out was complete. There was no update on whether we would be waiting 30 min, 1 hour, or 3 hours. When I called for an update, there was still no idea of a time frame. The pumpout boat would also not respond to individual boat hails. I went ahead and took guests back and forth to shore. When I saw the pump out boat about 2pm come near our boat I was able to whistle him over and he let me know he was working on yesterday's list. I did have a conversation with the office late in the day and they still could not tell me where on the list we were located, but they did advise we would be handled the next morning. I went to the Harbormasters office and found out we were third on the list for the day. However, the boat did not start until late am (after 10 am check out time). I took guests ashore for morning breakfast and coffee and went back to wait. Near noon, I was pumped out. I spend about 2 months a year traveling the area by boat, as a captain and as a n advanced Sailing instructor. Having to wait so long for proper time line communication is disrespectful. Also, the dinghy dock situation is terrible. Having to crawl over 3 rows of dinghys to tie off and get to shore is begging for problem. It would be easy for someone who cannot swim to fall in between dinghys, hurt themselves, panic, and not able to get to the surface. The town is wonderful.
We’ve been visiting Edgartown for 35 years. It never disappoints! Chris & Suzanne Rynne, s/v Pilgrim Soul
There are many well spaced moorings but the dingy dock is way too small and filled with permanent dingys instead of transient. Not enough space!!
Always a pleasure. But more space for dinghy’s a must. See you next year.
Courteous service throughout a nd flawless execution upon arrival. A1.
Edgartown was beautiful, and the moorings and launch traffic were managed beautifully by the staff on a very busy night!
Great spot. Good amenities. Lots to do in town & elsewhere on island.
great stay --quit in back of mooring field ---all persons were great and friendly ---MORE dingy space --great guy on pump out boat --- Will stay again in future
Mooring and reservations went very smooth on a private mooring !
The mooring field is so protected, it’s like floating in a bathtub. Just wish there was a larger dinghy dock.
Very nice. Could use more dingy dock space but otherwise perfect !!!!
Always enjoy our stay in Edgartown. Mike piloting one of the Old Port launches keeps us entertained and gives guidance where to go. Unfortunately we had to cut visit by one day due to forecast Friday back in Newport our home base.
We had a great visit! The harbormaster and his crew were always timely and courteous. The moorings were well maintained. Access to the water barge was a great convenience. The only suggestion I'd have would be to make better access at the dinghy dock. It proved a bit adventurous!
Easy to reserve on line and good coms with the harbor master when we were there
Great customer service, and able to secure a mooring on a Saturday night in July when Dockwa showed nothing available. Called them just after 11AM and they were able to give me a mooring. Super easy to find, launch goes till late on weekends, and such a nice town...
Very friendly and helpful. Frankly, a wonderful change from a few years ago.
Comfortable harbor. Superb views. Great restaurants.
Harbor is great, town is getting very very busy over the years
Beautiful harbor! Harbormaster does a fabulous job!
Edgartown Harbor has always been one of my favorites - still is but sadly the dinghy dock is beyond over crowded given there are so many boats in the mooring field and it’s not ever supervised so they are many oversized, long term boats that take up much of the space.
My Edgartown Martha's Vineyard harbor stay this past week was amazing! The Harbor Master and his team were tremendous. The mooring was in a perfect spot in the harbor and I can't wait to visit again this time next summer.
They have a dock that is moored for free water!! Harbor Master was very helpful. Very small tender dock. They really need a larger one.
Always a great experience! Thanks for the close in mooring so we could bring our dog to land.
Beautiful harbor. Wish the heads and showers were closer but had a lovely time.
We arrived on the wrong day (my fault) and the Harbor Master's office was terrific. They went above and beyond on a very busy Sunday and found us a mooring that saved our day. No one works better that Edgartown to make visitors feel welcome. Thank you
First Great trip, HArbormasters office was very accomodating.
Excellent service. Our favorite Vineyard harbor and town.
Edgartown has changed a lot in the last 10 years. At least it is still pretty easy to get a mooring.
Edgartown is always a delight. Your service makes it easy to to do the check in.
Since our arrival we had a fabulous time starting with the helpful harbormaster crew & continuing on with friends. Weather couldn’t have been better. Looking forward to our next stay in Edgartown 🥰
As always, our stay in Edgartown was perfect. Thank you for your hospitality. See you again soon. Sharon - Turn The Page
Great. The Harbor Master and Staff have it all together with mooring assignments and utilizing Dockwa for reservations and collection of payments.
It was wonderful everyone is so friendly here. We will be back!
Great harbor, beautiful town, very good facilities, stayed 8 nights, great bus system to get around the island, reasonable mooring fees, harbormaster was very helpful, will come again
A favorite destination with easy launch service and very helpful staff!
Beautiful location, professional and helpful people. Will definitely return. Only suggestion is to improve (increase) the dinghy dock.
we’ve had great times in Edgartown but this time our mooring was #79 which is way, way out there and it took an hour to get a launch.
Always a great stay in Edgartown. Great mooring!!
Super! Everyone involved from harbormaster to launch service was very responsive, professional, accommodating. Will def be here again.
The Harbormaster in Edgartown is top notch and was easy to communicate with during my stay in Edgartown!
Perfect weather for a trip from the mainland to Edgartown for lunch with my wife and a stroll through town.
As usual the staff is very accommodating and well organized. Very nice stay!
Great as always. Town services launch, pump out etc easy and timely
The Harbormaster and crew did a nice job notifying us of where our mooring was and when we asked to move closer to town they were willing to make the adjustment which was greatly appreciated. Since there were many open moorings it would have been nice for them to let us know there were options so we could have made that call on our approach. Great harbor and town - quieter than in years past which was a nice change. Looking forward to visiting again next summer.
Easy and straight forward approach to the mooring field. Great launch service. Easily accessible public showers. Had a great stay.
Beautiful harbor. Prompt responses to assignment of mooring, extension days and pumpout. Pricing seems fair value. Only challenge is dinghy dock space VERY limited.
Harbormaster is always accommodating and helpful. Best Harbor and town ever!
good piced up mooring easily, think it would be worth upgrading shower block . best, Justin
Great harbor. Mooring rodes clean. Mike on Pumpout and Launch was fantastic. Could use more dinghy docks.
Picturest protected harbour, with good services, and restaurants
Efficient, pleasant, great launch service and the town is wonderful with lots to do. Can’t get much better.
Wonderful harbor. The only negative is the dinghy dock. Had a fabulous time, wish we could have stayed longer.
Staff was responsive and very helpful. We first docked at Edgartown last year and when we get visitors at our Cape house, it is always a pleasure to bring them to visit your harbor.
Always a good time in Edgartown and great support from the Harbormaster’s.
Great. Dockwa made reservation easy. Moorings in excellent condition, easy to find yours. We were on mooring #2 so dinghy dock was nearby. Edgartown handles the crowded harbor well!
Favorite place for me! Thank you Edgartown Harbor Master and Staff!!
Great price, great location and friendly staff = GREAT TIME. Thank you from my crew and me.
The Harbor staff were very prompt and organized. We had a delightful stay, will be back!
Great weather and scenery , launch service always excellent , early mooring access is appreciated
Great time Launch was pretty undermanned on 7/5
Edgartown is Our favorite Harbor to cruise to in our 50’ power boat and one of the major reasons is the Edgartown Harbor Master Crew. They are responsive, courteous and despite it being one of the busiest harbors in the country they go out of their way to be as flexible and accommodating as possible - even if you don’t have a reservation. Thank you team! Mockingbird” out.
Perfect, communication good , mooring easy to pick up
All handled perfectly. Great location. Friendly people.
As always, just Awesome!! Everyone is always so professional. Great visit!
once again we were able to score yellow 2 thank you for an awesome 4 days
Great harbor! Edgartown is a destination on our list every summer.
Fantastic stay in Edgartown! Had a great mooring, convenient dinghy dock, & easy access to fuel.
Great! Very efficient and friendly reception as always
The mooring field is well marked, the tethers are neatly puked on tob of the balls making them easy to reach and the dinghy dock is close by. And the price is right!! You have to plan well ahead to get a reservation though!
Very nice moorings. Beautiful spot. Close to town. My only suggestion is you need a larger dinghy dock that is easier to get in and out of. Boats already stacked 2 to 3 deep and it is not even the heart of the season yet. Block Island finally did it and is great. BTW. You have a great fresh water dock which I also appreciate.
Very nice harbor with great launch service from Oldport.
Lots of moorings, great clean pick up line; we were well protected deep in the harbor. Dinghy dock super crowded on late June weekend & despite recommendations to leave a long line, most did not. Harbor department showers & bathrooms a bit far from the mooring. Also, called for a Pumpout on Saturday and told we were on the list for Sunday morning btw 8 & 9 (he wasn’t on the water Saturday) but still no show by our 10 am departure. Alas, had to pay to pump out in the next port. Town is quaint with lots of restaurants, galleries and high end shops. The MV transit is a bargain with $8 all day pass and can get to the other towns and sites easily.
More than great. Quiet and protected from prevailing winds. Welcome from Dockmaster has been perfect.
The Harbormaster was organized and helpful. The emails and information received from Dockwa was great. The staff has been very friendly and answered all our questions in a pleasant way. We had a very good experience here this year! I meant to give a 5 star rating and not sure why it’s showing 4 stars.
A powerboater on a nearby mooring had a gas powered generator on his deck running all night and all morning. Obnoxiously loud. Disturbed the peace we were there for.
contact with the harbormaster's office was easy and our mooring assignment was quick. the old port launch service transporting mariners from boats to shore was operating very reasonable hours and the operaters were very accomodating.
Always a fun place to visit. Had to hole up for weather to pass. A few nights in Edgartown is not a difficult problem. Sorry Edgartown has no groceries of any sort. Several wine shops - no food stores in town. Mooring field is well organized, launch service is great.
Great harbor and support for my dinghy refill was great
Beautiful harbor and extremely accommodating harbor master team.
Edgartown is a wonderful place. The Harbormaster manages everything so well that it always makes for a perfect time. Thank you for the moorings (always coiled for easy and clean pickup!) and pumpout service that is the most convenient ever. We always look forward to going back.
The moorings are fine, the staff polite and helpful. The only problem is one you see at a lot of harbors - the dinghy dock is clogged with people using it as a free dock for their 22' center console that they brought over from Hyannis or Falmouth. No room. Still one of the better managed harbors. As well, towns should have a separate arrangements for transients vs the seasonal renters who legitimately need to get out to their boat on a mooring but leave unused boats at the dock all the time. Chained and unmovable. Finally, while there are signs everywhere about "dumpsters for boater trash", none seemed to exist. Taking your trash ashore was an exercise in creativity.
A wonderful destination. Great and accommodating people. June is a great month for a visit. Less crowded.
We stayed two nights on a mooring ball. The launch service was very good. The harbor master's office is a 10 minute walk from the launch and a bit difficult to find. It would be helpful to provide directions in the welcome email. The showers were not very clean, the entire floor gets wet when the shower is on making it hard to put on shoes and socks withour getting them wet, and the showers need more hooks for clothing.
We are regulars at Edgartown Harbor. What about some frequent flyer perks? Love Edgartown, and we brought friends, now they love it too!
Shelly and her team are Excellent!! We had a very nice visit.
Great visit. Very much appreciate willingness to relocate us given elderly passengers. Thank you.
Great location, staff was very helpful and accommodating, and well protected from any winds or ferry activity.
Awesome as always. Very helpful and accommodating harbor staff.
We have been coming to Edgartown for years. Always a great experience. Charlie and his crew are always helpful. And Mike who operates the pump out boat is a great guy- always accommodating.
Fantastic location and friendly service. Moorings are well maintained and the mooring field is easy to navigate.
I did not use the mooring. My crew was unavailable for the weekend.
Harbormaster was helpful and accommodating. Mooring was in great shape. Will be back!
It was fantastic! The harbor master's office was very helpful and friendly!
Well worth the visit. The history, Jaws, Kennedy. Nice mooring field with clean pennants. Great access by dinghy to the main dinghy dock. As the notes say, the dinghy dock for the showers has a 20 minute time limit. And the showers are the reason for no 5 stars. They could use a good cleaning. Better yet a face lift. Glad we stayed!
This is a great marina/dock. Docks are new and very clean along with great power. Very calm Also, great location to the heart of Edgartown. Marina staff was great and very attentive to all of our needs. Thanks for a great stay.
Edgartown harbor is a terrific place to visit. The moorings are secure and the village of Edgartown is lovely. The Harbormaster's team is very helpful. The harbor is very safe, and even in difficult conditions, it is a comfortable place to be moored.
Thank you to the Harbormaster and team for supporting us as we waited for the Hurricane to pass, it was reassuring. The team did a great job checking in on us.
We have always enjoy visiting Edgartown. The moorings are well maintained, OK bathrooms but the showers are some of the worst we have seen. Only one Laundromat on the island (at the airport). A wealthy town can do more and should do more to show that it cares about visiting boaters. Disappointing.
They were professional, well-organized, helpful and friendly...as always. This was just the latest in a series of stays stretching back more than two decades. A consistently good experience. Well done!
Well maintained moorings. Lines placed on top of mooring can to allow easier boat hook grab of the line. Bathrooms are pretty bad. Showers are rustic but decent. Love the Vineyard so we would go again in a heartbeat.
We had a great time in Edgartown. Our mooring was close to town with easy access to the dingy dock. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Bathroom and shower facilities were readily available. Showers need to be cleaned daily.
Moorings are best away from the tidal current. Otherwise you may not be facing the wind. That creates issues, such as when grilling. Launch and bus schedules were erratic, but this is probably the post COVID, post Labor Day norm. Still a great place to visit.
What a great little harbor! We arrived quite late the night before and anchored out. Edgarton Harbormaster checked in with us multiple times to track our progress until we informed them that we were anchoring out. The next morning they sent a launch out to escort us into our mooring ball. That evening the shuttle ferry shut down unexpectedly at 7PM instead of the specified 10PM. Edgarton Harbormaster made sure we got back to our boat.
Edgartown Harbormaster and competent staff set the stage for a great stay in Edgartown: professional, responsive, knowledgeable, year after year. Dockwa has streamlined the reservation system, tho this year I had to string together 3 separate reservations to make one continuous stay (even tho we reserved back in March 2022 when mooring rez opened). Based on what other boaters have said when hailing the EHM upon arrival, this has been the case for others as well. That said, EHM staff work hard to accommodate reservations, extensions, and requests. We cruise New England waters from Maine to Connecticut and Edgartown is one of the very best destinations, in large part due to the Edgartown Harbormaster and staff. 💯
Excellent first experience in Edgartown. Launch operators were excellent! Went above and beyond with Outstanding service. Thank you for a great weekend.
First time visit to Edgartown harbor. Friendly and prompt service! Spectacular location!
Always a pleasure. Edgartown Harbormaster’s crew are the best. Thank you
We had a great time in Edgartown. The Harbormaster’s Office is always helpful and gracious. The launch makes it so easy to get back and forth from the mooring. The view from the boat is always beautiful. We even saw shooting stars!
Excellent service, and a great staff. Picture perfect stay.
Mike the assistant harbor master is a terrific hard working person. He was very helpful to us.
We were not able to find information about launch service to and from our moored yacht. We waited at yellow marked area near dinghy dock, no launch, no signage. So, we had to use our overloaded dinghy to go a long distance at night. Not safe. All other harbors made this info easily available.
There's no better destination in August. Hoped to extend my reservation a day but the system for doing so appears to favor day trippers (I was told to call in the morning of the final day rather than getting any yes/no days in advance when I asked). Also wish they would put mats on the floors of the showers but otherwise the staff is friendly and helpful..
Great experience! Beautiful harbor. Harbor master amenities were great ! Coming back next year for sure!!
The Harbormaster staff are most professional, responsive and accommodating. Excellent services available to transients in the harbor. Outstanding.
No docking available in Edgartown last week, we were offered a mooring with Dockwa. Could not find the mooring after several calls to Harbor Master, and requested to send someone to find it for us. Another boat had moored to it unbeknownst to HM. We were offered another mooring, and the folks were very helpful. We definitely will come back!
Clear instructions, perfect mooring field layout. Responsive and helpful.
Excellent service and communication from Harbormaster's Office! Popped in for a day mooring, guidance to location was great. Shuttle service to dock was courteous and prompt. Thanks Edgartown, all day trips should be this enjoyable!
Always responsive on74. Always polite and accommodating. Great kiss bodes well for the future. Very salty (know boats). Old town launch is super. Just wish there was an easier way to drop off passengers before mooring. Breathtaking views of EDG.
Excellent service by the Edgartown Dockmaster crew. They tried hard to accommodate the needs and desires of a large number of mariners and did so with dispatch.
One of my absolute favorite harbors. The anchorage is well protected and the facilities for showers are clean and plenty of hot water. Lots of great dining in Edgartown too, love visiting
Perfect as always. Thank you for working diligently to always find us a mooring, for a day trip! Love coming to Edgartown!
We arrived at Edgartown Harbor on a very busy Sunday morning in August without a mooring reservation. The woman working the VHF at the Harbormaster’s office was handling about 5-6 requests at the same time. She was very professional and courteous. Thanks to our Dockwa membership, we were assigned a mooring and the launch picked us up in short order. I wish I could give 10 stars to the patient, efficient and polite woman who handled all the logistics of a busy Sunday in such a professional manner.
Our favorite Harbor. Harbormaster always pleasant and accommodating. town is great...good restaurants, shops, bike rentals, etc. Highly recommended !
Great spot! Launch service was excellent and the island is fantastic.
The harbor master is very accommodating and helpful. This was our first time back in years and we will return
Professional and nice. Good mooring , have been nice to be closer to town but nice launch service $5/pp/ trip
Love this harbor. Fliating Water dock and pump out service. Need more dingy space though. Helpful staff
Many thanks for moving us closer in the second day! Appreciate the flexibility!
So welcoming and helpful every time we have visited! Thank you for all you do to making the experience a good one. Great people make it happen!
Great harbor to spend summer days and nights. Restaraunts are wonderful. the folks working the harbor (launch and pump out) are incredibly friendly, especially Mike.
Actually, due to high winds and gusts, It was necessary to abandon my sail to Edgartown. I notified the Harbormaster 48 hours in advance and regretfully requested a refund. I’m confident they will honor it.
Very nice. Harbormaster staff is very professional and easy to communicate via VHF or Dockwa message system. Our only issue with this harbor is the extremely limited space for dinghy tie ups. Both Menemsha, Oak Bluffs and Cuttyhunk have far more space and much smaller harbors.
No place better than Edgartown harbor. Only wish we could have stayed longer, but hoping to get back soon!
As usual, Edgartown Harbor is gorgeous, clean and just a great place to vacation! The Harbormaster and his Assistants are fantastic! Charlie, the Harbormaster, gave us great advice to cut through Quicks Hole, instead of Woods Hole, due to the high seas in Buzzards Bay and wicked winds. We only saw the Ferry, as other boats must have hunkered down. We’ll be back!
One of the best places to stay. This is an annual trip we take and we stay at many harbors along the way but this is one of our favorites. Locals in town are so hospitable and the harbor master is always helpful and accommodating when anyone of our travel mates need to add dates to their stay.
Harbor master was easily excessable and gave great directions to our mooring Pump out boat easily arranged Wonderful harbor with great town/restaurants/beaches Dinghy dock is woefully too small to accommodate all the boats in harbour. Needs a huge upgrade
We enjoyed our stay! Best harbour on Martha’s Vineyard!
Always love staying in Edgartown. Great moorings, water dock and launches. Lots to do
Well-run operation. Moorings are a very good value for the money. Free pumpout boat (call early in the morning to get on the list). Reservations via Dockwa strongly recommended; depending on your size you may get a mooring without a reservation but they'll want you to have a Dockwa account to bill. They could use a dinghy dock 2-3 times as large as the current one.
Efficient Always a pleasure to sail into edgartown First class facility There is a reason Walter Cronkite used it as his home port
Very pleasant stay; great mooring location; great boats to watch.
Great service by by both harbormaster and launch sides
Always a fun port. Great staff. Responsive tenders. A can’t miss. Thank you!
Great week spent in Edgartown! The Harbormaster was very accommodating in finding us a better mooring than the one originally assigned. Will be back next year!
Always a great time in Etown. Harbor team is excellent.
Beautiful harbor. Well run and organized. We had a fantastic 7 night stay!
We have been going to Edgartown since I was a kid, some 60 + years. The Harbormasters have always been very accommodating, friendly, and helpful. The only reason I give 4 starts instead of 5 is the showers. A small bench and a small shelf would be a major improvement, making it much easier to do what is required to have a nice shower and to be able to change into new, clean clothes. Otherwise, no complaints whatsoever, 5 stars!
Great harbor master. Polite and clear communication. Lots of moorings and frequent water taxis. Beautiful harbor.
Waited 1 hour for the taxi, then went to Oak Bluffs. Total waist of money.
Beautiful view. Quiet harbor with easy launch into shopping and dining.
It’s such a great spot. Only negatives are poor to no cell service (for both ATT and VZ) and somewhat undersized lines for bigger boats (it would be really nice if they provided double pennants).
Love Edgartown. Responsive on arrival, great mooring location.
Beautiful harbor, great restaurants, excellent service!
The best harbor in the Northeast to stay. A+ to the Harbormaster and the team.
Very quiet and calm location even with 10-15 mph North winds. Dinghy dock seems to be improving with either less dinghy’s tied up or with boaters using the recommended 15ft lead to allow boats to be moved around so you can get your dinghy to the dock to load/unload. This was an issue in the past.
Fantastic spot. 3 nights. Second time we have been and worked out even better. The staff gave us the same ball as pervious year. Perfect.
Very accommodating Gave us great mooring near town we had requested
The kids that work for the harbor master are inexperienced and arrogant. Check out time for the moorings is 10:00 am, a bit too early in my experience. Check in is 11:00, so it would be easy to allow a departing guest to stay a little late. When we inquired if we could stay an extra 1/2 hour, I was told “unless you’re too cheap to pay for another day, we could not stay a minute past 10:00. With slip accommodations as limited as they are in Edgartown, the moorings are one of the few option in the harbor. Too bad that they take advantage of that with such sub-standard service. Our next destination was Nantucket Boat Basin. The Edgartown Harbormaster and his staff should tour Nantucket Boat Basin to learn about proper customer service.
Great destination. Looking forward to returning in July!
Beautiful stay as always and Jackson (harbormaster on duty) was fantastic!
Edgartown is our go-to destination to moor on weekends. We love the harbor, the local restaurants, the amazing walking paths and beaches. The waterdock is especially helpful to refill water for long stays as well as rinsing off the boat after a long messy ride over! If you need, the launch is always there in a second, pumpout available with a quick call in. The Harbormaster and team are great to deal with. Always a fantastic time in ET!
Edgartown Harbor is a beautiful location to enjoy the true charm of Martha's Vineyard. We stayed on a town mooring that is serviced by a small fleet of launch's that are run by an extremely friendly staff. Highly recommend this Harbor!!
The Edgartown Harbormaster’s crew is top notch and thoroughly boater friendly. They offer free showers, a super convenient water barge and a wonderful pump out service provided by Assistant Harbormaster Mike, a friendly and welcoming presence for many years. All together, it makes Edgartown one of our favorite destinations. We’ll be back there aboard Grace every chance we get. That said, I would add that the elimination of first come first served moorings is a deep disappointment. It discourages many of us from sailing here as reservations fill up. That combined with the prohibition against anchoring in Katama Bay makes it a port for the ultra wealthy, freezing out many of us average boaters.
The Harbor Master office was extremely helpful with a delayed arrival and departure caused by weather. The moorings were efficiently serviced by the local launch boats. Edgartown is a great place to visit, great fishing, restaurants, shopping and hotels are easily accessible.
Edgartown is an elegant and historic town. One of my favorite harbors. The staff at Edgartown Harbormaster is professional and helpful.
Showers were kind of yucky but we were happy for the ‘free’ hot water.
we were given a rather inconvenient mooring location, very far from The Yacht Club. Waited 30 minutes (cold) for return trip at 9:30pm because there was only one Old Port Launch.
Great location and everyone there was really nice and helpful!
Great stay! We enjoy Edgartown and how easy the mooring field is to navigate.
Beautiful harbor and very quaint town. The launch drivers were very prompt and knowledgeable about places to go in town.
Loved the mooring - close to shore as I had requested. Could dinghy in or take the launch. A fun visit. We will be back. Thank you.
Harbormaster was responsive and helpful in directing us to the mooring. But the numbered mooring wasn't there! We were directed to take the next one and that worked. The only real problem was that we could not identify a usable dinghy dock. Better was the launch service, which was quick and inexpensive.
Prepared and helpful. Excellent launch. Good Covid protections in place.
The cost of the slip was $300 per night. We have an outer eastward facing outside slip and the wind was blowing 15-20 knots without an offer for a change of slip. What was most annoying was that the entire time we were there, there were a bunch of people fishing right at our boat. This should NOT be allowed at a rented slip or we should receive a rebate. We heard their conversations all weekend and had to literally step over their rods and equipment. I would not recommend Edgartown Harbormaster at all.
Great stay as always. We were lucky enough to be entertained by the dolphins this trip. Thanks again
Love the Harbor! Great fall weather. Easy launch access to town. Rode bikes in Chappaquiddick. Wonderful stay.
Great spot. Efficient, understandable and knowledgeable communications from Harbormaster.
Very nice and helpful. Had a reservation for Sunday thru Tuesday. We came on Saturday, a day early, with no reservation. They accommodated us nicely. They had us on a mooring that was occupied. Put us on another private mooring. Called us two days later to see if we were still in harbor. Wondering why We were not on previous occupied mooring. Told them what happened, and they said we shouldn’t be on 40’ mooring as we are 60’ boat. Oh well. They were very nice though. Look forward to next stay.
As always we love MV and Edgartown in particular. However on Tuesday as we were to board the launch we were informed they were only running until 8pm and it was then 7pm. We had inquired earlier and they said 10pm otherwise we would have planned accordingly. Disappointing
I love Edgartown Harbor. The mooring field is well protected and the harbor master is very helpful and professional. The dinghy dock is starting to get ridiculous. It's always had the deserved rep of being three deep at times. It's now all the time. Boaters come and spend a ton of money in town, which must generate local revenue. They really need a larger or additional dinghy dock, even if it's a bit further from town. Update Sep ‘21. Even off season the dinghy dock is still 2-3 boats deep. This would be a 5 star location, if not for this issue. Several were grousing about it. Some tied up closest had days of rain water in them. Sends a ‘we don’t really want you here message’. Otherwise, staff and the rest are excellent.
What a great harbor! We had an amazing stay. Great food, great location! Didn't want to leave!
One of the most beautiful Spots in the world! The moorings are great. The launch and pump out services are great. If I had any complaint, there should be a bit more space at the dinghy dock.
It was a lovely stay of three nights on a mooring. Unfortunately one day was completely washed out by rain - not the Harbormaster's fault.....
The place is gorgeous but the facilities were surprisingly rudimentary. Staff were largely kids who were variably responsible.
We came in for four nights on a mooring in the harbor aboard our Oyster 56, Tango. The Edgartown Harbor Master's office runs a professional operation. We got very good directions to the mooring. Getting pump out service was easy. The launch service by Old Port Marine was top notch. And, the food in the restaurants was to die for. We have been coming to Edgartown for year's and look forward to a return trip next year.
Well run harbor with everything you need for a relaxing stay. Good staff, easy to deal with reservations, pump out boat, launch to shore. The town does however need more dinghy dockage. Highly recommend.
Harbormaster was very accommodating letting us stay an extra night on the mooring due to adverse weather when we did not have a reservation and they were booked. A larger dinghy dock would be very helpful.
Edgartown alway gets five stars in my book. I only wish the they could expand or maybe add a second location for the dinghy dock.
The town is great and the harbormaster staff was very nice. The problem with making reservations is the refund policy. Our reservation began on 8/24/2021. My home port is 2 days away. Storm Henri came through and didn't leave the area until 8/23 making it impossible for me to make it there for the first day of our reservation. They would not return a full refund for that day even though it was a named storm because the day of the reservation the storm was passed by, by that afternoon. I won't be making advanced reservations anymore.
We came in without a reservation but the very helpful harbormaster found us a private mooring for the night. A boat was sent out to guide us to our mooring as we arrived. The dinghy dock here is conveniently located and we were able to pay through Dockwa.
Always the best... but please don't tell anyone;-)
They are much friendlier and very helpful this season Pump out service was great
The views from the mooring field are unmatched. Easy accessible moorings, prompt water tax service, dinner at Chesca’s and superb beaches make Edgartown a must see!
Beautiful harbor with big bouys, strong lines, free water and friendly staff. One of the best places to spend time in the developed world.
Fast response upon arrival, accommodating as far as mooring requested.
The harbor is beautiful. However, I'd like someone to explain this reservation game to me. We sailed in and grabbed a mooring, only to be approached by the harbormaster who told us all the moorings were booked all week! After some pleading they rented us the mooring and told us we'd have to check in every morning, even though we wanted to stay the whole week. And guess what? There were at least 25 empty moorings every single night! What is going on? Why don't they want to rent all their moorings? They are obviously not all taken but yet they don't seem to want to rent them out. Please stop telling us you are all booked up when you are not!
Edgartown Harbor and their entire crew is awesome. They are very accommodating to help if you arrived early, late etc. Been going to Edgartown for 20+ years and consider this the best Harbor in MA.
Beautiful!!! Moorings are clearly marked. Launch boat operators were so nice. Marina was very helpful and informative on the radio.
Great. Efficient good moorings great launch service
Nice quiet mooring. Launch service till midnight $4 per Person each Way.
My favorite marina in the northeast. The entire marina staff is beyond amazing. We’ve been coming for many years in August and each and every time they bend over backwards to see we enjoy ourselves. Thank ! Jon
Wonderful Prompt and professional launch service Great facilities
Highly recommend! After 12 seasons of boating, this was our first time ever on a mooring. Finding the mooring was easy, and getting hooked on to it was even easier for this novice. The views are beautiful! Easy dinghy ride to beaches and to town. Peaceful and quiet and the harbormaster and crew were very helpful. We won’t be able to do the Vineyard any other way now after such a wonderful experience!
Beautiful harbor! Many fine restaurants in Edgartown.
This is our favorite place to stay, and we've been spending the summer here for 15 years. Harbormaster Charlie Blair keeps the mooring field running beautifully, ably assisted by Shelly and Sara. Special thanks to Mike Hathaway, who always has a joke and a cookie for our dog, and to Riley, who greets us at the dock with a smile. Some of the launch drivers (Chris, Lucas, Rick, Bill) have been there since we started going, and it's always such a pleasure to greet old friends. Our thanks to all!! Berni, Jeff & Nimmy
I was two days early! But with a slipping keyway in my prop shaft, our plans changed. The Harbormaster got us right in. Love the ease of trash drop off, fuel is running again, ice is available, and a great selection of restaurants. Free pump out boat that will swing by whether you are onboard or not. The only downside is that they REALLY need to police the dinghy dock. The flooded dinghy with a run down Nissan engine tied lengthwise to the dock needs to go. And it seems a lot of people forget their long painter and only have their 6’ version. It’s the most painful part of coming to edgartown. Otherwise a wonderful time!!
We had a terrific stay in Edgartown! The folks who manage the moorings were terrific to work with, and the town moorings are clearly marked and very easy to find depsite the fact that this is a huge harbor. Given some incoming weather, we actually left a day early and the team gave us a refund which we weren't even expecting. We look forward to visiting again!
We were delighted to get on a near mooring, had an easy pump out, easy trash disposal on land, place to lock bikes. Dinghy dock could be a little bigger but people were friendly and patient getting in and out.
Great stay, mooring ready when we arrived and easy to pick up
Mooring line was clean and dry, mooring was easy to find, launch service was great. Harbor is very protected. We had a great time.
It was a busy afternoon with a lot of boats arriving for mooring reservations. They were so organized - we only had to call from the lighthouse and we were immediately given our mooring assignment. It was very impressive how they processed so many arrivals.
Great service. I needed to change my reservation date and they accommodated with ease.
We LOVE staying in Edgartown, and try to come each summer. Everyone on the harbor staff is friendly and courteous. We especially appreciate Mike on the pumpout boat, his good humor, and love of dogs. Thank you!
The entire Marina staff is very friendly and accommodating.
Harbormaster was very helpful and made every effort to accommodate us
Awesome. Really accommodating for our needs. Thank you so very much
Edgartown is our favorite place to stay out of all Cape and Islands! It is a beautiful spot on the Harbormaster moorings! Scenery, boats, small beaches, the harbor and so much more! The launch service is excellent! Quick and efficient. Mike the pump out man is fantastic and super responsive. We love to float behind our boat and take mini dinghy trips around the harbor and to parts of Chappy for the serene beaches. Don’t miss out! You can’t beat $45/night to stay in Edgartown!
Beautiful scenery and terrific setup in a protected harbor. The moorings were the best- the line/ pennant in a dry “bowl” so it was not all slimy when retrieved.
Great harbor and excellent launch service. Harbor masters office is always available for services.
It was great had a great mooring close to town yellow 3 Love Edgartown. Mike the pump out guru got us set. . Everybody friendly. Looking forward to coming back
Great Harbor, great place to dinghy around. Dinghy dock way too small and frustrating to tie up.
Along the Southern New England coast, this is one of our favorite spots. Beautiful harbor, without the crowds of Nantucket. The crew was very helpful finding us a mooring when the northerly wind made the outer harbor uncomfortable.
Excellent we love this harbor been here one week and wish could stay for 2 didn't want to leave
Wonderful experience as usual. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Thank you again for everything!
Thank you to the harbor master staff in getting a mooring for Widget. ❤❤❤ Edgartown and the Vineyard in general is the gem of the east coast. We are on a multi month cruise from Florida to our previous Cape Cod home. Edgartown is the far and away winner of best places to be.
Power boats running noisy generators early in morning to evening. Can't even enjoy a cup of coffee in morning as well as an evening meal without hearing the dronning of generators. All harbors need to put in place a quiet time where generators need to be shut off from 1800 hrs to 0800 hrs. When the wind stops all you can smell is their diesel smoke.
Edgartown is a great place to cruise in at happy hour, have a great dinner, sleep off dinner on the boat and cruise home. we had great winds, great food and a nice sunset and sunrise to boot. What more can you ask for?!?
I came from South Carolina and they were great to work with on mooring assignments and moving me around to get closer and when someone was moored at my spot. Very hospitable and nice. and I know the two weeks I was there, they were slammed with boats and reservations. Thank you!
Edgartown mooring are ideal. Close to town. There is water shuttle and the view is amazing. We love Edgartown
My family and i had a great time. The staff is always great! We can't wait to go back. "Making Time"
Correct mooring spacing for our boat. Mooring pennant in good condition but would like to have a larger loop to accommodate our cleats. Dinghy dock is very inadequate for this harbor. It is insulting that it is only a tiny corner and needs to be moved to a location that is commensurate with the number of moorings served.
Great harbor and very helpful harbormaster staff, particularly Mike who provides help, advice and humor in equal measure. We love visiting Edgartown!
Harbormaster team was very courteous and helpful. Only 4 stars because they gave away my mooring when I went out for a cruise!
I typically don't leave reviews but was glad to get the opportunity to give a shout out to the fantastic Edgartown Harbormaster crew. The harbor is beautiful and is therefore a very busy destination in the summer. Our decision to head to Edgartown is typically last minute and the Harbormaster staff does all they can to accommodate last minute mooring request. Hailing the launch is also always easy and quick. Just a fantastic job by the Harbormaster team at making the most of our short boating season in the Northeast!
A great stay as always. However, be careful if you leave your mooring during the day, there is a high probability that someone else will take it and you'll have to be redirected to another for the rest of your stay.
First visit to Edgartown and loved the experience. It was very easy to get in the Harbor and communication with the Harbormaster was easy. The dock was great and fit our 58' Sea Ray just fine. Walking distance to all the shops and restaurants. Will be back..
Easy check-in via radio, and a quick mooring assignment for our week long stay. It was never a long wait for the old harbor launch service (small fee). Can’t wait to return next year!!
Locked down July 4 fireworks and parade. Unlike the Free State of Florida, locals doing this unnecessary con in the name of health is a shame. Listen to the science. We’re outside! Have fun like the free states!
Hard to find place for trash near where the launch dropped you off. Other than that it was awesome. Pump out folks were great as well as the launch drivers
easy to pick up the pendant. Helpful directions from the Harbormaster.
Very well managed and a relief that one town isn't intent on ripping off cruisers. $45 per night is OK, despite the lack of any services. Dinghy dock is very tight. Note, Moorings close in are subject to very strong currents which can run differently from the wind. Most difficult pickup we've had in 40 years, other than Biddeford Pool.
Easy reservation system, great communication on Channel 74, simple directions to the mooring. Highly recommend!
The email that is sent before arrival needs to be updated with 2021 info. It still shows 2020 info about cancellations on the vineyard. Also they charged us for an extra night because we left at 12:30 as we waited for fog to lift. There were plenty of empty moorings as it was a Friday morning and new boats hadn’t started arriving yet. Not cool.
The team at the Edgartown Harbormasters office is top notch, friendly and responsive. They helped us locate our mooring for our 3-night stay, fuel up, pump out, and we used their showers each day. they even allowed us to leave our shower bags (towels and toiletries, dirty clothes) with them after taking a shower so we could walk around Edgartown unencumbered. They helped us have a wonderful stay in this beautiful town.
Great experience as always. Harbor master staff were efficient, helpful and friendly. And it IS the most beautiful harbor on earth. Thx!!
Spoke with harbormaster, and when they can be, this VERY busy marina mooring field is accommodating. Love it here. Lovely scenery. Launch service if needed. In the heart of Edgartown. Will definitely return.
Beautiful harbor. Wish launch was included in price.
We had a great experience! Loved the new floating dock!
Great weekend to spend in Edgartown. Weather was fantastic and so was the food and beverages. Had a great mooring close to the YC. Could not have been a better visit. Thanks
Beautiful harbor and everyone is friendly and helpful. Great launch service as well.
Beautiful harbor, and the on and off water activities are ramping up. I was there a week ago, and there were only three other transients. There had to be thirty last night! Also a beautiful town to wander.
An incredibly yacht friendly harbor. The harbor masters crew is delightfully friendly and accommodating.
Stayed at the dock this time so I got to use the restrooms and showers which were functional - that is the best I can say. Also even in middle October they have a 50 foot minimum - not exactly boater friendly. But as always the staff were very cordial in implementing the town policies. Update: Stayed on a mooring a couple times in Jul-19. As usual the staff were extremely accommodating and professional. This is a sure sign of excellent leadership there too. Still not a boater friendly town though. There is an entire bay (Katama) that would be (and was previously) awesome for day anchoring that is now off limits for no good reason. Hats off to the Harbormaster leadership and staff though. Another update Aug-20: Stayed on a mooring for multiple day trips this summer. Water is great for swimming. Edgartown harbormaster staff are the most professional around - they are efficient and courteous to the many boaters that come in looking for a day mooring. Despite a lot of crowding, I never heard of anyone getting turned away and they handle the dockwa reservations in real time amazingly well. Hat's off to the staff. As an update: I notice the harbor master has replied: Marina Response: The reason why Katama Bay is closed is due to the Army Corp of Engineers they deemed it closed. Also we have many oyster and shellfish farms in that area. That response is certainly incorrect and some form of revisionist history. It was Edgartown who closed Katama. Here are some quotes by Charles Blair, the Edgartown Harbormaster and from the Vineyard Gazette at the time (2004): - Citing a deterioration in water quality in Katama Bay over the last several years, Edgartown officials have banned boaters from anchoring overnight in the area. "The town made a decision. Do we want two months of boating or a year-round shellfishing industry? The answer was easy," said Charles Blair, Edgartown harbor master, who is fielding calls from frustrated sailors just learning of the new ban. The closure was a long time coming, Mr. Blair admits. Every year for the last decade, more vessels - from 30-foot sailboats to 100-foot yachts - have been finding a place to camp overnight within these protected waters. End quotes. And of course many further believe the reason for the closing had nothing to do with shellfish and everything to do with banishing transient boaters out of site. But let's get the facts and history correct at least.
Edgartown's staff are always courteous and accommodating when we arrive into the Harbor. Radio crew are very patient and knowledgeable and that goes along ways especially on hectic weekends. They always make us feel welcome. Looking forward to another boating season with the best team around.
Hands down, the crew at at the Edgartown Harbormaster consistently gives us the best experiences we receive in our cruising area from Nantucket to Block Island. They remember our boat, our names and even our French Bulldog's name! Very accommodating even during peak times like the 4th of July. Can't wait to come back this year. Andrew, Betsy, & Finn the French Bulldog!
Perfect, protected mooring with spectacular view of Edgartown. Very helpful and courteous staff. I like it so much here I’m going to stay two extra days.
Edgartown had always been a great place to stop but this time it was a disappointment. Covid and the fact that we arrived after Labor Day accounted for the fact that many shops were closed for the season and all the restaurants we tried to make reservations at were already booked due to reduced seating capacity. We will try again next season at a better time.
Incredibly welcoming and accommodating Harbormaster and team. Thanks and see you again!
We had a mooring for 3 nights. Very windy and bumpy, but it was fairly well protected. We'd come back again!!
Excellent experience. Communication and help with harbormaster was wonderful! Thanks for all your help!
The folks on the dock were great when my wife accidentally slipped off the boat when she was tending to the bumpers!
Harborrnaster managed the 11:00 onslaught of incoming guests beautifully. Mooring field is well protected with easy access to town. Dinghy dock is small and even though it’s after Labor Day it was still crowded (maybe a clamming skiff or two in the mix?). Look forward to visiting again!
One of our favorite harbors to visit. Beautiful in every way. The Harbormaster staff is very efficient and friendly.
Mooring was great! Easy to grab and clean line. Thanks! The office staff made it easy to extend our stay.
Prompt, polite, professional service. Quick check-in and payment process.
We so enjoy coming in to this harbor. Charlie the harbor master and his staff are extremely user friendly and sincerely care about you getting taken care of—no matter what the need! Mike the gentleman that runs the pump out boat and at times the shuttle is also “the best”! Thank you to all!
Had a lovely stay in Edgartown Harbor over the weekend. I had made a mooring reservation via Dockwa a couple of months back. We were staying at the Harborside Inn, so we first unloaded our luggage on their dock. Then contacted the Harbormaster on 74, and found my way to my assigned mooring. Harbormaster couldn't have been more helpful during our stay. Eager to go back.
Boats are close together, so at times you feel you could high-five a neighbor, or you can hear their conversation very clearly, when the boats swing out of sync. But, ultimately, they're just safe enough, I think. I did see a couple boats move after they clearly felt "trapped" between other boats. The rate is very fair at $45/night, and the free water barge and pump outs are awesome. The price of the launch gets a little annoying. So, today, we 3 went into town to do grocery shopping... round trip was $24+tip, for a total $28. Then we went for a bike ride, and the bikes cost $2 each way. So, $36+tip for a total of $40. Effectively, in and out of town 2x added $68 to our $45/night fee, for a total of $113 for the night. Still a lot cheaper than a slip, but keep that in mind.
Excellent, thanks as always! We had a very enjoyable stay!!
A very enjoyable stay . 4 nights on #60 which is a long long way inside harbor . If you are rowing then ask for closer mooring, otherwise use the excellent Oldport Launch Service on ch#68. Loved the floating water dock. Filling water tanks without having to go into a dirty fuel dock is a luxury. Great idea! Garbage dumpster at the launch dock in town but unfortunately no recycling bins... Pump out boat On Ch#74. Our last night a very inconsiderate sportfishing boat called the ‘Stacy Lynn ‘ , a Pursuit. , Picked up a mooring directly upwind of us and ran their generator until after 2 a.m. Their exhaust came right in our hatch and we had a lousy sleep. They started it up early again the next morning .If you have battery issues go to a dock and plug in Or grab a mooring downwind and far away from everyone else.... Very selfish . ! I called the Harbormaster office next day and they do have a no Noise policy after 2200 hrs. Their office closes at 2200 on weekdays and 2300 hrs on weekends so call them if you experience the same !
Best harbor experience, especially for no reservation & my first trip in here. Harbor Master was great, she was managing a zillion boater’s radio calls, kept a waiting list going. She got back to us as we were still making our way in, “no worries”. We called again at buoy in harbor- she had her team meet us there..brought us right to our mooring!! Whole experience was great! They Are Pros! John M on Pura Vida
I can’t say enough about the Edgartown harbormaster team . Being a newbie to mooring they made the process so simple for the three times that I’ve come this summer. That you so much for a fantastic summer boating experience.
Assigned mooring was taken, second assigned was also taken, ended up choosing an open mooring. Great harbor with great services.
Fantastic. Great crew here. Couldn’t have been better.
Great stay in Edgartown. Harbormaster immediately responded to radio call and directed us to easily-found and well-protected reserved mooring. Launch service fast and easy.
Edgartown Harbor is one of the most beautiful harbors on the east coast. Always enjoy our stays here! We really appreciate how friendly and accomodating the harbormaster staff is when we visit. Especially during the very challenging summer season. You guys and girls do a great job!
This is our favorite Harbor. It is a beautiful way to spend part of our cruising holiday. The HarborMaster staff are very helpful and accommodating. They even delivered packages that I had sent to their office for a repair! Thanks to the Edgertown HarborMaster team!!
Great to get back go Edgartown. The harbor master is very responsive and the launch service did a nice job with social distancing We ate outside at the Seafood shanty and most of the town was open.
Edgartown Harbor is the best harbor in MA to visit. A beautiful harbor. Coming here for 30 years.. Harbor master office and staff are awesome. Never disappointed. A must if you boat in MA or RI.
We have been going to Edgartown for the last six years, visiting at least four times a year. I cannot say enough about the staff at the harbormasters office. From Charlie all the way down his staff they are nothing more than exceptional. Every time we have been there they have gone out of their way to accommodate us. I have to take a moment to make a special shout out to Michaella. She raises the bar to another level. It is great to hear her voice on the radio again. I know I am not alone in saying that. Sincerely May Sea May
Once again we had a great stay in Edgartown. The mooring field is beautiful, with a nice view of the sunset. The shopping is great. We had an excellent meal at The Atlantic which has great outdoor dining. Fun to dinghy to Katama Bay and walk over to South Beach; or, dinghy out of the harbor to Chappaquiddick and Cape Poge Bay. Absolutely gorgeous and pristine beaches and scenery. Can’t go wrong here. The only downside is a very crowded dinghy dock-be prepared to climb over three other dinghies or just use the launch.
Always excellent. Good mooring field, pump out at the boat was easy and courteous.
I think people wouldn’t be disappointed if you charged $5 more per day for a mooring and use those $$ For an attendant to clean and sanitize the bathrooms and showers. We were disappointed to find the showers locked. We understand the COVID situation, but think that taking showers would help eliminate and not spread it.
Efficient; but no showers, bathrooms available!
Very beautiful port of call with friendly and efficient launch service.
Edgartown Harbormaster: We have been visiting Edgartown Harbor for 46 years on Amicitia, our wooden, classic Friendship Sloop, and are never disappointed with your professional and courteous service, especially in these trying times. Thank you. Capt. Jeff and Diane Pontiff
On both trips in this past week the Harbormaster directing to the mooring was very helpful. And on the phone when I was unable to get same-day confirmation from Dockwa. Mike was terrific - he seems to do it all - pump-out, instructions to the waterbar, launch. Great ambassador⛵️
The morning was excellent as usual, best value in Massachusetts. The only difficulty was connecting with the harbor master to g set our reservation. People with no reservations were getting preference over booked reservations and I was half way through the mooring field before I got my assignment. I know it’s busy but any conversations should be switched to another channel
Had a reservation for Saturday night made and paid in advance a month prior. Wanted to arrive two nights early and stay through our previously booked reservation. Nothing available by Dockwa but they accommodated us. There were many open moorings available. Was charged two for the two additional nights upon arrival then on the third night (that we previously reserved and paid for) we were charged again. Have emailed the harbor master a couple of times with no response or refund for the extra night charge yet.
Wow. What a gorgeous place. Our mooring was protected and secure, these views were amazing and the launch service super helpful. We loved it. Finding the mooring initially took a bit of hunting, but people around were a big help. Will definitely go back.
Our stay at Edgartown was great and the staff at harbormasters office were very helpful on getting us a mooring. We had an awesome stay. Thanks for all your help.
Moorings are close, but very well arranged and very well kept. A great place to stay !
The marina is top notch..and the town is great love it
We mis-interpreted the independent launch service note was for a fee, in cash per person. We later learned that the town had two dock locations where boat operators can pick up passengers thereby saving launch expenses. Moring was easy to access and close to town.
they were responsive on every radio call we made. They also handled a medical emergency on our boat by picking us up and quickly bringing my wife to shore and having an ambulance ready.
Wow the harbor master is hands on and professional. Very well organized harbor kayaking, paddle boarding, all there - pump drives around what a great time
Great mooring area in a beautiful field. Highly recommended. Right in town and walking distance to everything.
Excellent moorings and Oldport launch service. The Harbor Master was very helpful in changing our arrival day because of heavy fog. I would also say that 98% of people and children wore masks.
Great harbor, great harbourmaster department. Again 7/15/20 , always a pleasure to be there
Wonderful Harbor with well maintained moorings. Very friendly and helpful. The only negative that I have is the size of the dingy dock and the amount of boats that are tied up over night or multiple nights. On Block Island it is posted no overnights tie ups. They should consider this.
Excellent! Very well organized, great location!
The Harbormaster was super-accomodating and the old port launch service made it easy to get in and out to our boat
The Harbormaster and their staff do an excellent job and go out of their way to accommodate everyone’s needs. My only complaint is the town dinghy dock is way, way. Way to small. Dinghys are 5 deep. How do the merchants expect people to come to town and spend money. They do have a launch service which is very expensive. Maybe that’s what they want is to force people on the launch.
Harbormaster Staff is always excellent and Professional - favorite spot to visit.
I was surprised that the fuel dock was closed all year. Closest fuel is at oak bluffs. You should provide this information to people who book dock or mooring at edgartown. Thanks Bill
Great stay, docking crew is excellent! Thank you
They were super accommodating, even when I made my own booking errors. The harbor is beautiful, all the mornings are well maintained. The amenities like the water dock and close dinghy were a huge plus. The harbor master was super easy going and friendly! Can’t wait to be back!
Reservation was ready for us and on time, thanks for the great service, Bill
Place is great, was impressed with covid measures on launch too
Great place to visit, pretty harbor. Old Harbor launch service (ch 68) was excellent. Bike rentals right there in town. Stop &Shop not too far along bike path. Some things to plan for: no fuel available Anywhere in harbor at this time, was referred to Vineyardhaven. Also, no showers or public toilets. No marine supples anywhere near (was referred to West Marine in Vineyardhaven).
Easy in to Edgartown. One quick call to the Harbormaster who told us which number yellow mooring we would be staying on. The harbor is set up well with the town moorings in yellow and clearly numbered 1 to 100 (or so). Also, loved the water barge where you can fill the tanks 24/7.
Love Edgartown Harbor. Harbormaster was great sent us to our mooring without issue.
Great, lovely spot. Beautiful town, things are starting to open up.
Great service and location. Planning on returning for a longer stay.
Free pump out service at mooring was great- helped us to get rid of long standing smell by showing us a trick to flush after the pump out and then pump out a bit more- Thank You!!
We sailed to Edgartown to attend a wedding at the Harbor View Hotel and we wanted to dress ship in view of the hotel as part of the celebration. The Harbormaster found us an available private mooring that was well positioned and outside of the town mooring field.
This was our 4th visit this year and the dock master consistently provides great service and attention. Edgartown will remain a destination for us to bring our guests!
Bathrooms are locked over night, dinghy dock is far from harbor master's office.
Charlie Blair is one of the greatest Harbormasters on the East Coast
Awesome stay! Debbie was so nice and wealth of information. Craig was great at the fuel dock. Will be back soon.
We love Edgattown’s blend of beauty and amenities. The dinghy dock can get crowded and only one shower was functional but we always enjoy ourselves and can’t wait to rwturn
One of the most beautiful harbors in New England. Always a favorite visit.
Edgartown is a fun harbor with good restaurants and shops but the dinghy dock is small and there are no bathrooms or showers for boaters.
Our favorite place hands down. They are always very accommodating. Harbormaster Charlie Blair is a great guy and his staff follows suit.
Edgartown is a favorite destination. The mooring system with the Harbormaster and Dockwa works well. Easy, pleasant pump out boat (Mike is a hoot). Great restaurants: Among the Flowers for B’fast. We often rent bikes — favorite ride is along beach to Oak Bluffs, then on to Vineyard Haven via East Chop, and back...
We had a great time and the harbor patrol did an excellent job! Thank you
As usual, the harbormaster and crew were very accommodating and efficient. We arrived at a very busy time of day and they moved all the boats into the harbor in a quick and orderly fashion. Very well done
A teenage boy driving a Dockmaster Boat hit our boat as he approched us to collect $ we did not owe. I booked and paid for 6 nights eith dockwa. Three days into it this boy comes to the boat saying he needs to collect for the night and HITS our boat! He was driving a boat marked Harbor Master. Cracked throught the gellcoat. Not happy!
One of the most beautiful harbors in America, served by the wonderful staff of the Edgartown Harbormaster. One of our favorite spots. Mike is great! Hope they get fuel back soon.
Last year we stayed for a week. This year we stayed for two. The harbormaster’s crew is attentive, the harbor beautiful, and provisioning top notch.
Great place to stay. They are very nice and efficient. The water taxi is a bit pricey but works great. There are only 3 showers for 88 rental moorings in the harbor, so beware that there might be a wait. This year one of the showers was "out of service" so I had to take off a star. Pump out is free and also very efficient.
I came in on a busy August Sunday morning and the team did a great job of getting me (and dozens of others) onto a mooring as efficiently as possible. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Thank you Eddie G HM team!
TELL US ON YOUR WEBSITE HOW LATE THE LAUNCH RUNS AND WHERE TO GET BLOCK ICE. We love Edgartown harbor & sail in there a lot I wish you would sell block ice and the showers need some up dating
This is a perfect harbor. What we loved was the great attitude of everyone. We are not super experienced sailors and never felt condescended to. Everyone was super helpful. The launch service is great and we never used our dinghy at all. Edgartown is great and South Beach is an easy bike ride or Lyft. We did both during our stay. The showers were 'rustic' but had great pressure and plenty of hot water....which is the most important thing!
Come August I am usually making way up to the Vineyard on my Beneteau Oceanis 58 for a stay in Edgartown and every August without fail, the Edgartown Harbor Master accommodates us. Great place to drop anchor and visit. Thanks for providing us with a memorable experience each and every year. dbr
Great location. Moorings easy to pick up. available dinghy dock. It would be nice if transient slips were offered at a reasonable rate.
Nice stay. We were far away from town but didn't mind.
What a wonderful harbor, and what a terrific job by the Harbormaster's team. We found everyone courteous, helpful, and positive. When I was called away to attend a funeral, they were particularly understanding. We also appreciated the free pump-outs and the attention paid to running the mooring field. The Harbormaster deserves our highest recommendation. S/V Moonrise
The staff were very helpful and understanding when we arrived with an overheating motor problem. They assigned us a mooring that was easy to access and convenient for the repairs. The launch was good but expensive. However, the showers at the Harbormaster’s office are a disgrace to a town of Edgartown status. They were free but I would be willing to pay a fee for cleaner facilities.
This is an awesome place/harbor to spend the weekend and or longer. They work very hard to help you - take care of you - and there are lots of amenities. Not to mention - an terrific town. The harbor is well protected - quiet - and pretty
Great staff on Harbormaster team. They provided a mooring right where I had requested. Friendly and professional. Highly recommend Edgartown Harbor!
Edgartown is the best! Awesome 2 week stay in the harbor. Charlie Blair (Harbor Master) has been there forever and is the real deal, he personally helped me find a mooring closer to Chappy so I didn’t have to row my dinghy so far. Communications on Channel 74 were cordial and crisp. DockWa worked great. I will definitely stay again and recommend others enjoy this beautiful spot as well. Thank you! -Garrett Bastable Chappaquiddick Island
With a heavy north wind clocking in I Pulled anchor from outside and without a reservation (as DOCKWA site said it was sold out) I called into the Harbormaster on 74 and they found me a mooring. I booked through DOCKWA which was easy and painless. Edgartown is the best port between Cape Cod, Vineyard and Nantucket. A+ to the Harbormaster’s office.
Great team and very helpful with all my requests
As advertised, nice mooring. Great place. Well run HM outfit.
We arrived in the Harbor in the morning with no reservation and were readily accommodated. Thank you, ET harbormaster.
How the harbormaster does it I do not know. I was part of the NYYC Annual Cruise that caused 100 boats to descend on Edgartown within an hour. My call about my mooring was handled promptly and I was led to my mooring within minutes. I think from hitting the harbor to feet up was less than 10 minutes.
The Edgartown Harbormaster and his staff are exemplary! One of the most beautiful harbors in the world, maned by well trained professionals.
We were expected and well received, about 75 to 80 boats 30feet to 140 ft of the New York Yacht Club on cruise.
Extremely helpful staff. We arrived without a reservation and were able to stay 2 nights on different moorings. The showers need to be cleaner but hot water was plentiful.
The folks in the Harbormaster office really do a great job!! This our favorite destination!
The Harbourmaster was exceptional. Very well organized and responsive. Moorings are well spaced with solid ground tackle. The only negative was the Old Port launch service (separate company). We were twice told to board launches then kicked off because of launch previous commitments??
As always a very professional Harbormaster staff. See you next year!
Good stay at Edgartown. Large mooring field w plenty of space, pretty harbor. Lots of traffic but all good. Love the chappy ferries.
NOTE: The below was sent by email to the Edgartown Harbormaster's office over a week ago - There has been zero reply. BOAT OWNERS PLEASE BEWARE! "Edgartown Harbormaster, We were moored at yellow #82 from Thurs 7/25 to Fri 7/26 with our 47’ sailboat, “Sonder". A harbor patrol boat (piloted by a blonde haired teenage boy) promptly came to collect the ball fee when we arrived, but the boat was being driven much too fast and the harbor patrol boat slammed into our hull with the tip of it’s bow before the teenager was able to re-maneuver it sidewise to raft up alongside us with the protective fenders. At the horrified look on all our faces he simply said “sorry.” and then asked us for the money. There was no wind, waves, or other piloting conditions to excuse his irresponsible driving and perpendicularly ramming into us like this. We were all completely aghast at what had happened and piled into the dinghy to inspect our hull. There was a large horizontal scrape in our dark blue paint on the port side. We peeled away the black rubber residue left behind from the pointed bow of the patrol boat and then tried to buff away the large mark. It was improved, but not erased by any means. We immediately called the harbormaster’s phone to report the incident - The gentleman I spoke to said that someone would go to the boat to personally check the damage and then call us back. Nobody ever called us back. We were busy hosting family, so we tried again to call back the next day, but did not get an answer (it was a very busy Friday afternoon, so I understand this). I am including photos of the damage both before and after we tried to buff out the mark. This is really unfortunate that the teenager who hit us took no absolutely responsibility, but worse that the office we reported it to never followed up with us. I hope all of this will be communicated to your teenage staff member so that he will be much more cautions and courteous in the future…his careless driving is a liability to the Harbormaster’s office and those around him. I expect at the very least that our mooring fee for the night will be fully refunded to us due to the damage and inconvenience this has caused, not to mention the time it has taken trying to get someone to follow up with us. We hope to hear from the harbormaster with a reasonable resolution ASAP." NOTE: The above was sent by email to the Edgartown Harbormaster's office over a week ago - There has been zero reply. BOAT OWNERS PLEASE BEWARE!
Edgar town is now our favorite port to stop in on Martha’s Vineyard. We’ve been to Vineyard Haven by boat and Oak Bluffs and Menemsha by bus. Edgartown was the best by far. First of all, the Harbormaster’s team is outstanding. They are very attentive and go to great lengths to solve problems. Their ability to smoothly handle many near simultaneous arrivals professionally over the radio was amazing. The radio operators were never flustered and were unfailingly polite while dealing with a swarm of requests. This is a very professional and capable team. Kudos! We were given clear directions to our mooring and finding and picking it up was easy. The Old Port Launch Service was prompt when we called and even doubled back to the boat when the Admiral realized she’d forgotten her phone. The town of Edgartown was a treat. We walked around a lot and really enjoyed the historical houses, and especially all of the trees and landscaped lawns. The shade was really valued during the hot weather. The Vineyard has an outstanding bus service with something like 13 routes. You can literally get anywhere on the island by bus and there’s a bus center on Church Street. A one-day pass good for all the rides you can squeeze in only costs $8 - $5 if you’re a senior citizen. Such a deal! We took the bus to Oak Bluffs and then took a 3 hour guided tour of the island by van. It was great to see so much of the island that can’t be reached by boat or walking. The constant narration by the guide overloaded us with information and interesting stories. Restaurants, shops and ice cream places abound in Edgartown. There’s something for everybody here. We’re already talking of coming back and touring the island by bike.
Lovely Harbor! Great vacation stop! Everything to do for all interest. Will definitely plan another visit!!!
Beautiful, quiet, well protected harbor with easy access into town.
Stayed on a mooring. The launch service was prompt. Showers and bathroom not all well kept but otherwise functional. Overall had a good stay.
Always professional service by the Harbormaster and his assistants. Pumpout services are prompt and efficient.
Excellent stay as always. Dockmaster is always helpful and accommodating when you want to add additional days to your stay. The showers and bathrooms were not clean, however and this is my one criticism. They seem to get worse every year. I don't think they are bothering to clean them anymore. They used to be much cleaner.
(2/5 for fee not service) Ridiculous to now pay a $40 mooring fee, particularly for the hundreds of day trippers. Instituting an overnight or full day fee is justifiable for transient moorings but you're punishing the many people who moor in Edgartown for lunch, shopping and a walk around town. Town fathers may gain $40 in new revenue but they'll lose the considerable money spent all season long on lunch, drinks, coffee, ice cream, clothing, antiques and artwork. Perhaps a 3 or 4 hour grace period could be considered and a fee applied if boaters exceed that time. We typically visited with 4-10 people aboard (@ $8/pp for launch service) but we won't be coming back as often. Good luck to the retailers, hope you're giving them a tax break. Bad shortsighted move.
Edgartown was a great stay as always. It would be great if the recycling bins would be near the launch landing.
Just stayed 2 nights in Edgartown.... Beautiful and the marina couldn't have been more friendly and helpful!! Can't wait to go back!
It was enjoyable there facilities aren’t as good as Newport but got the job done harbormaster is great
Great harbor. Launch service was quick and easy.
Harbor master seemed confused and unprepared. Showers were scummy to say the least. Broken lock/door, light burnt out, drain stooped up so I was showering in 6 inches of dirty water and the shower curtain was years old and nasty. Edgertown should be ashamed of the condition.
Always a wonderful, welcoming and well run harbor
Despite making my reservations on the day and hour they became available, I was placed on the last mooring at the end of the mooring field, at least 1 mile from town. And on top of that, it was a mooring for power boats, so I was aground at low tide! They were very apologetic and moved us to a more favorable mooring, but how could something like this have happened? The facilities are woefully inadequate - worst dinghy dock in New England. No real shower/bathroom facilities to speak of. Its as if the mooring community is an afterthought.
Harbormaster and Old Port Launch are reliable and flexible.
We were in the harbor on the 4th of July, and it was incredibly busy. It wasn't looking good for us to get a mooring for the day. However, the Harbormaster didn't let us down and found a place for us. We enjoyed our time in town and then caught the skiff back to our mooring. A pleasant experience and a nice day!
Edgartown is always a great port to visit however there’s no fuel as DEP shut down pumps. Unfortunately this severely limited use of inflatable. It would have been nice if Harbormaster made Dockwa reservation holders aware of this so they could take on fuel prior to arrival. Otherwise visit was great as always
I LOVE EDGARTOWN! Fun dinghy ride to one of the nicest beaches in the northeast, south beach. Very pretty place to moor for a weekend.
Love Edgartown; one of our favorite places to simply hang for a while as we travel north for the summer. Harbor Master’s staff is professional and attentive. Easy access to town, water & fuel. Stop & shop just under a mile or a free bus ride away. They deserve the 5 stars, but I must point out one issue; the dinghy dock. Simply not enough space for the number of occupied moorings during peak periods. Again, highly recommended!

Everyone was very helpful. Called for pump out and they came right away also. Still have one more night to enjoy!
Love the harbor. However, we own a house and mooring in Edgartown but not in the harbor and always love to visit for the day occassionally. We used to grab a free mooring 4 or 5 times a year so guests could float around, relax, eat and shop from the boat rather than drive and park. Now we go to Oak Bluffs where they make it easy. 4 boats can raft. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The free outer harbor in Edgartown doesn't have the same feel.
Professional, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful staff. Docks located just a short walk from downtown Edgartown. Only wish there were more days in the summer to enjoy this location!
We were anchored outside the harbor for July 4th. Next morning we wanted to leave, but were confronted with an electrical engine problem. Harbour master provided a friendly tow by the harbor patrol boat to a mooring, where we could fix the problem. Thank you!
One of the best marinas on a recent trip through the area. Beautiful place with excellent facilities and well maintained moorings. We loved our stay. The 4th of July fireworks were spectacular. We look forward to coming back.
Great time on the vineyard! Harbormaster was great!
Everything was great! We appreciate you accommodating us. thanks for your hospitality!
Easy entry. Moorings are easy to access. Convenient to everything in Edgartown. Launch service is good or take your dinghy to the dock reserved for tying up.
Received an email from Edgartown Harbormaster before departure with a lot of information about the process once we arrive, the harbor, harbor services and the town. When we arrived at called as instructed we were given our mooring assignment. Easy pickup from bucket-style moorings. Called for pump-out services one day while there; prompt response and very good service. Enjoyed the town as well where all shopkeepers were friendly and welcoming and very customer service oriented.
Mike the Harbormaster was excellent. This was the first overnight trip outside our marina on a new boat. Mike was excellent in assisting docking and other tips.
We had a good, brief late-season stay in Edgartown this September. The launch service was responsive, and we got a nice welcome email from the Harbormaster. Weather prevented us from getting there for the first night of our reservation, and they were willing to process a 50% refund through Dockwa even though the policy specifies 10 days' notice. Only reason not to give 5 stars is the dinghy dock -- not a big enough facility, even late in the season.
A great experience all around. Beautiful setting and friendly staff ready to help.
Edgartown does it right! neighboring oak bluffs is a disaster by comparison. excellent, well managed mooring field. launch is quick. If you want a more grown-up experience, this is the place.
Excellent responsive harbormaster Everyone is friendly and helpful
Very cordial and hospitable. Easy time finding our mooring. All went well.
Nice people. Great launch service. Beautiful town.
Edgartown is our favorite harbor. The harbormaster staff are professional and manage it very well. We go there every year, 20+and wholly appreciate how they keep everything running smoothly anf friendly. Looking forward to next year.
Spot on, precise just where and what we requested!
Great time! Beautiful weather and a fun adventure! The harbormaster' s crew is very accommodating and put us in a great spot!
Stay was good. Our mooring was a private mooring which took some time for us to find. Email info about Edgartown was good.
Excellent. Great mooring location and very good services from the Harbormaster. One of our favorite cruising destinations
Nice Harbor but it seems like if you make a reservation they stick you all the way up in the bay. That said the people are nice, but not well informed. Our plans changed and we needed to leave a day early. I called and explained and the person told me no problem we can credit you. I called back the next day and they said sorry we don't credit for early departures. Not the end of the world but buyer beware...
Wonderful harbor. It's calm and quiet even in high winds. The launch service uses multiple boats so you never have to wait for more than a few minutes for a pickup. Edgartown is lovely with plenty of great restaurants and things to do. The harbormaster was kind enough to squeeze us in when we asked to move our reservation up a day, with one day's notice. The mooring (yellow 69) was at the far end of the harbor which may for a long dinghy ride, but we usually took the launch to avoid the crowded dinghy dock, and we were happy to be down away from the boating traffic.
Harbormaster staff got the mooring assignment right, the first time! Launch service was flawless, as usual. Shops, restaurants, etc. always provide great service. Looking forward to our next visit!
Great harbourmaster, comfortable mooring and good food ashore.
Edgartown is a great harbor to visit. The Harbormaster’s office does an outstanding job. They go out of their way to accommodate everyone whether they are just there for the day or overnight stays. Mike does an outstanding job with the pumpouts. The only downside is the dinghy dock. It is always so crowded that you have to step over other boats. The other downside is the bathrooms and showers by the harbormaster’s office. They are not cleaned regularly and the dinghy dock seem to have boats tied up for more than the 20 minutes. This has been a problem for many years with the dinghy dock and showers and bathrooms. Hopefully, next year the dinghy dock and bathrooms and showers will be better.
Done a lot of sailing, visited a lot of ports. None are as welcoming to sailors as Edgartown is. Plenty of moorings, good places to anchor and decent cover from weather. Harbormaster Charlie Blair seems to take a lot of pride in running one of the best marine operations around. Speed of the ship is the speed of the captain and his crew seemingly follows his lead on being courteous, accommodating and helpful. Thank you Edgartown.
Affordable Good launch service from 7 am to 1am regardless of weather Knowledgeable and professional woman dispatching moorings in a most efficient manner
One of our favorite places to stay. Was assigned a great mooring with plenty of swing room. Will be back next year.
We stayed on a mooring for two nights. The harbor is beautiful! If you would like a pump out I recommend calling the evening before to get on the list. The dinghy dock gets full so make sure you have at least 15 feet of line like they recommend. The only issue we had is it was very hard to find our mooring as the numbers are hard to see. I would recommend that they place a mooring field map on Dockwa to aid in the hunt for your mooring.
Very nice helpful staff. Great location. It would be a good idea to train the young dockboys a little better; some one or boat could get hurt. Dock mistress Sarah is the real deal.
I don’t quite know how they do it over and over, but they keep the harbor running smoothly despite the perennial challenge of accommodating both seasoned and novice sailors. Even more impressive is how gracefully they do it.
Great harbor and quiet mooring. Truly enjoyed our stay.
Beautiful harbor and great service from the staff .. Used the Pumpout which comes right to you on the mooring. Its convenient and the water quality in the harbor is awesome. I do think that they need to update the bathroom and shower facilities. I have been sailing here for about 20 years and they continue to deteriorate every year. With mooring fees at 40,00 a night you should expect at least clean facilities. These showers are pitiful ,, overflowing and flooded.
Edgartown Harbormaster and team are EXCELLENT!!!! Nice job everyone!!!
My wife and I enjoyed our visit to Edgartown and Katama Bay last week. Arrangements with the Harbormaster were flawless and we found the mooring (Yellow40 to be easy to find and secure with plenty of room surrounding our 43 foot vessel). The Bay is lovely and downtown Edgartown was delightful to walk and dinner at Atria Oub was delicious. We plan return trips this summer and will be back in 2019. Bay last week.
Wonderful Harbor with exceptionally warm welcoming people. The town is wonderful.great shopping and dining. Our only gripe was an inability to get an answer about mooring availability. We check out Dockwa which was greed out for Saturday and Sunday. We also called the harbor master. They would not tell us of availability. We sailed over from Vineyard Haven and there were lots of moorings open. If there had not been then we would have had to sail back to Vineyard Haven. Otherwise our two day stay was a wonderful experience
Finding the mooring was a bit difficult but they helped and gave us a different ont near a friend
The mooring field is spacious and beautiful, people were awesome and not to be compared to any of the cape cod and islands.
Awful, noisy at the mooring, crowded, long launch wait. Actually left after one hour.
Good mooring- good Harbor staff - good food
Great stay on mooring in Edgartown. Only thing is they could provide nicer shower facilities for transient boaters. Otherwise - all good
Great Harbor and great people......strongly recommended!
Convenient comfortable and very relaxing Easy town access by dinghy or launch Flexible on arrival mooring and when weather forced an additional day stay
Really enjoyable. Here are my thoughts, with so many sponsors for excellent launch service, why do we need to be charged? If charges continue, please consider adequate public showers and restrooms located closer to pier. Understand that the popularity exceeds the capacity of the facilities, but maybe some upgrades would help.
Edgartown Harbor is very well managed by the Harbormaster's office which uses DOCKWA for reservations. Launch service is privately run through Olde Town on c.68. Prior to your arrival date, you receive a detailed and helpful email from the Harbormaster and another from DOCKWA which provide information for hailing the Harbormaster and information about local activities and places to visit,
We are, and have been, very frequent "mooring' guests to this harbor over the past 10 years. We go as much for the harbor tranquility as the on island charm and amenities. It's a busy harbor but the mooring field layout offers some buffering if you move down harbor. The reservation process through "Dockwa", even last minute in real time as one enters the harbor, is efficient and effectively backstops a very capable harbormaster staff whose friendliness always adds "value' to our visits. Our favorite stop.
Great service by the Harbor Master staff. Wish prices for day mooring were lower.
I think $ 40 to stop and have lunch, plus the launch is a bit excessive considering 2 years ago it was free. It seems an amount closer to $ 25 would be more reasonable.
A great place to stop on a cruise. The harbormaster sent an email in advance with all of the necessary information needed to contact his office, etc. The staff were very helpful once we arrived in the harbor.
Always like to be closer to downtown but I realize the limitations
Had to move moorings on last night of four as someone else was on the assigned mooring when we came in after racing. Moved to an adjacent mooring for the last night, so all worked out well.
Dockwa dropped the ball on this trip. Having been forced to book a two night minimum we arrived in Edgartown only to find that our mooring has been given away to someone else... no refund no apology no explanation. They still have my money.
Harbor and town are beautiful. Most moorings are a good distance from shore access which was great from a noise perspective, less so for those with dogs. Restroom and shower facilities were not convenient. At $4 per person per ride the launch adds up.
Cordial service. Knowledgeable staff. Solid mooring. Even changed reservation details in 30 seconds with no penalty.
Great location, weather, perfect and relaxing!
Harbormaster was very efficient and professional in an exceptionally busy harbor on a crowded Sunday afternoon. Listening to her was like listening to air traffic control at a busy airport.
Bad weather and was not able to use prepaid reservation. Unfortunately they do not allow refunds.
Nice location, good launch service. They were also willing to shift my reservation one day because of weather problems.
Magnificent weekend. Lobster Potpie at the Atlantic is a must.
Harbormaster staff responded immediately when I called them on Ch. 74 on arrival in the harbor, as instructed, and they were polite and gave precise directions to our assigned mooring. the price is very reasonable these days and we are looking forward to our next visit to Edgartown.
Very friendly, relatively protected and quiet mooring. Dinghy dock was small but fine, I imagine it would be crazy in the middle of the summer. Water barge was not in yet, so water was a pain...that's the only thing that could have been better!
reserved two nights at Edgartown for Memorial Day weekend. When the weather forecast worsened we shortened the stay to one night. 2nd night payment was forfeited due to Edgartown refund policy. They charge one night penalty for any change to reservation. Since we went early in season and harbor was scarcerly occupied I should have reserved one night at a time. That would have maintained flexibility to change plans without loss of one night's fee. Unfortunately, the cancellation policy for Dockwa for Edgartown would not come up on iphone app. Pressing button for cancellation policy info got no response. If their cancellation policy displayed I would have known better how to plan the reservation.
Charlie, the Harbor master, is fantastic and very helpful. The Old Port launch service was also excellent .
Great location on inside dock. Bathrooms don't open till 7:00 which makes itt though to leave early. Nice staff, eager to help. Overall a good experience. I will return.
Very nice and peaceful mooring in 15-20knot winds Reservations easy and dock master quickly responded to VHF call
Edgartown Harbor is beautiful and well protected. The mooring fields are managed very efficiently and all the staff is always available and helpful. It is always a pleasure to be there.
great service -- good communication before and upon arrival - i asked to be moved closer to EYC and that was possible. thank you.
after a 48 hrs stay, we had to return due to bad weather. The staff was able to accommodate our request for a mooring at a moments notice.
Great stay. They are totally professional and organized. Service was excellent nice moorings and the employees are very friendly. Dingy dock is tight and can be a challenge. They encourage the launch service!! Great time !!!
It was great, noon on a Saturday in Edgartown is crazy, but when I checked by radio, I was directed to my mooring with several boats waiting to see if one was available.
we were handled very efficiently and enjoyed our day in Edgartown Harbor. You had a rude pump out person with "Harbor Master" stenciled on back of his shirt. When we got to our assigned mooring, it was taken. Since I was in middle of the moorings with boats all around I elected to temporarily tie up to one until I could reach Harbormaster with new direction. This jerk started yelling at us and telling us I should be calling in first. that is like using a cellphone while your are driving. Idiot.
We took in o everything we possibly could that Edgartown had to offer. Water, Diesel Restaurants, Mike on the pump out boat, the all-day busses. Ferry to Chapy Dingy rides to the light houses. It was definitely the high lite of our two week cruise, Thanks for having us. everyone we met was vary friendly. Paul
Very picturesque harbor. Courteous staff, excellent launch service
The Edgartown Harbor team is always very responsive and helpful. Nice quiet harbor. One simple example of how much the staff cares...the Pump Out Boat Operator (I think his name is Mike) stops at open moorings as he goes by to coil up the lines in the top of the mooring to get it out the water and make the line easier to retrieve for the next Captain. They "get it" at Edgartown Harbor.
Great mooring, great town, great island. Lucky to have it nearby and lucky to be there.
Our stay was wonderful. We had a relaxing and very quiet vacation. I would recommend staying on a mooring. The sunsets were beautiful as was the sunrise. The water taxis were always available and convenient when we wanted to go to the shore. Thank you!
The location is great and the Harbormaster does a good job of responding quickly and managing the busy mooring field. The dinghy dock is ridiculously small for such a large number of boats. There are some dinghys on it, filled with water, that sit there and never move, taking up valuable space. They need to get those abandoned dinghy out of there. Also, this is the only marina we've seen without recycling. They claim there's no recycling on the island but we saw plenty of recycling bins around houses.
Great Harbor and town. Very poor launch service. Long delays in pickup. One launch "out of service" to take a group of "ladies" out. Wet, dirty, boats. One driver was rude and surly. Two boats not enough for peak periods. Overloads on two occasions. Worst launch service in any port this season.
Very friendly staff. Very prompt. Very courteous.
Beautiful spot staff great! We loved our entire stay! Shelly from harbor s and above her duties to help us out! The launch staff Bill and Nick were friendly and we enjoyed the cruises to and from out mooring! We can't wait to come back!
The harbor master was very helpful and friendly upon arrival. AND very busy. Beautiful place to stay. Only negative was the public showers were dirty.
Edgartown harbor is run like a well oiled machine.
Smooth operation. Was able to stay a couple extra days during storm ad was even relocated to a more protected area!
Spent five nights on a mooring. Courteous and timely launch service although little pricey ($4 one way). Lovely town within walking distance with great restaurants and shows. Local bus service well organized and allows exploring throughout Martha's Vineyard.
Great protection, well organized, knowledgeable Harbormaster team, great communications. FYI Edgartown no longer has the first-come-first-served blue moorings. All are yellow and all require Dockwa or direct communication with the Harbormaster.
A beautiful location. Harbormaster's staff were all friendly and helpful, and all the amenities needed for a great stay were available - with the exception of block ice! We could find it in only one store near the docks, and that store closed at 6 pm!
I don't like the new policy that you initiated in Edgartown Harbor doing away with the free "blue" moorings which were First Come First Serve for transient Day trippers. Its not that its $40 whether your there for an hour or overnight.. Its that there is no certainty of getting a mooring for a daytrip. Now that you take only reservations of short stays, I have witnessed numerous moorings being unoccupied, but the Harbor Masters office saying over the radio that there are no open moorings b/c they are reserved. Well like my trip yesterday, I paid $40 to have that mooring until 10am the next morning, but I only used that mooring for 3 hours. So unless I checked out with the Harbormasters office, they could not put a daytripper on that mooring, b/c I held the reservation. While the Harbormasters Office may benefit from higher revenues from those 25 formerly "blue" moorings now being "yellow", and Dockwa will make significantly more fees by collecting reservations for those formerly free moorings, I truly think that the local retailers will feel a decrease in business. Last season we made over 10 day trips over, for either breakfast, lunch or dinner, as I'm sure many others did. But now with the uncertainty of getting a mooring, we will like reduce our visits to Edgartown, and go to other ports like Oak Bluffs for instance where you can always get a mooring and for no charge. I think if you insist on the new "blue" mooring policy, you should refine the booking system to be for lesser blocks of times for lower fee. For instance, we went over on 7/20, and I was able to get a reservation for my daytrip: however according to your calendar yesterday, 7/21 & 22 were already fully booked. You need to segregate daytripper reservations from overnights, so you don't hold a mooring as full if its only used by a daytripper for 3 hours.
Wonderful time. We ended up just anchoring on the outer harbor; but the mooring field looked beautiful! Maybe next time :)
Did not make it could not negotiate a different date.
Mooring field run by the Town Great location and launch service operated by Oldport Launch. Plenty of water in the mooring field for sailboats and the launch service was very responsive.
Excellent. The staff was extremely helpful & friendly. A beautiful day in Edgartown. Thank you!
This is the fifth year we have brought our grandson's for the Edgertown Jr regratta and I informed the harbortmaster Sat morning that I had to wait until this afternoon when the race was over to collect my grandson's and leave. We left at 4:20 today and when I arrived home I found we were charged for another day. The past 4 years, I did the same thing and I wasn't charged. I could have made other arrangements if I was told this when I talked with the young lady this morning.
I was very disappointed to learn of the new $40 fee for any use of a mooring. I absolutely love Edgartown and frequent the harbor, shops and restaurants. But, I will not be coming back very often, if at all, with this new fee. I agree with paying a fee like that for overnight stays, but don't punish the people who like to come for a couple of hours. How do you go from free moorings to $40 for even one hour??? Between the mooring fee and then the launch, it cost me almost $100 before I even stepped on land! I hope you come up with a better policy or I think the shops/restaurants are going to suffer.
Brought family from out of state and they fell in love with Edgartown
The crew at the Edgartown Harbormaster office continues the tradition of efficiency and hospitality. The Town put a new policy in place this season to charge $40 for the use of a mooring whether it is for an hour or overnight. The situation was explained over the radio when we entered the harbor. We were able to create a Dockwa account, reserve and pay for the mooring quickly. As soon as we did the radio call came in from the Harbormaster directing us to a mooring. I'm sure this change will create an uproar for those who have been using the moorings for free during the day for years. I was one of those and loved it. I don't mind having to pay for something that is valuable. Edgartown Harbor is a gem.
Great location, service, and experience. Highly recommended for any boater.
We never actually stayed on the mooring we had reserved because the fuel dock (which shut down at 5) was unoccupied, so we tied up there and left before it opened in the morning. We looked for someone to pay but failed to find someone. They did get our $40 for the mooring via Dockwa.
Great location, unbeatable price. Friendly staff. Launch is run by another company (Old Port) and costs a couple bucks each way. I highly recommend eating at The Port Hunter and Behind The Bookstore while in town.
Will be staying here more often, a favorite marina of ours. 11 out of 10!
